He is a pioneer of Korean rock music: in 1962 he created the first South Korean rock band Add4, and in the 1960-1970s he was at the forefront of Korean psychedelic rock. The most famous song of the musician “Beautiful rivers and mountains” was written in 1972 as a protest against the military dictatorship of Park Chong-hee. Later, Shin was placed in prison and subjected to torture, and his music was banned until the 1980s.
