Arnold Lobel (May 22, 1933 (Schenectady, New York, USA) – December 4, 1987) is a popular American author of children's books. The most famous of these is the series of stories about friends-frogs “The Quack and the Toad”, and “Mouse soup”.
Lobel was awarded the 1981 Caldecott Medal for Fables.

Three books from the series "Kvak and Toad" were published in Russian in 2008 by the publishing house "Pink giraffe".
