For 10 years he taught at a high school in the suburbs of the small town of Reading, where he still lives. He then worked for 15 years as a communications consultant in the petrochemical industry. But when visiting construction sites in China bored him, Webb left to pursue his long-held dream of becoming a writer.
The first and immediately successful result of his new activity was the play Four Knights at Nersborough, staged in 1999 on the London stage. Then there were a number of projects, followed by the script for the film.
