Rolf Eke Mikael Nyqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden on November 8, 1960. He was adopted by his adoptive parents, taking a boy from an orphanage. All he knows about his parents is that his father was Italian. As a child, Michael was like all Swedish boys: in the summer he ran a ball on a football field, in the winter he played hockey. But the theater began to attract him in high school, when a young man at seventeen years of exchange went to the city of Omaha, Nebraska in the United States of America.

Rolf Eke Mikael Nyqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden on November 8, 1960. He was adopted by his adoptive parents, taking a boy from an orphanage. All he knows about his parents is that his father was Italian. As a child, Michael was like all Swedish boys: in the summer he ran a ball on a football field, in the winter he played hockey. But the theater began to attract him in high school, when a young man at seventeen years of exchange went to the city of Omaha, Nebraska in the United States of America. There, Nyqvist was engaged in acting and participated in school productions, including the play “Death of a Salesman”.
After Nyqvist returned home, he entered ballet school. But, realizing that dancing is not his vocation, he gave up classes and began to try himself in dramatic art. Thus, at the age of nineteen, he entered the Swedish Academic School of Drama in Malmo. After graduating from this academy, he began to work at the Royal Drama Theatre, as well as at the Stockholm City Theatre.
In 1982, Michael made his television debut in the film “Comrades”. And five years later, he again appeared on the screen in the adventure comedy Jim and the Pirate Flower. Then there was work in the films “This is Life”, “Jerusalem”, “Night Walk”, “Tick-tock”,

"The Other Door" . In 1990, Michael married actress Katarina Ernroth. This marriage has two children.
Participation in the painting
Together The actor gained fame outside of Scandinavia. This film became successful internationally, and the actor himself, who played Rolf, the heroine’s jealous husband, received the Golden Bug. This award is considered the Swedish equivalent of the Oscar.
Today, Mikael is the most famous Swedish actor who is very popular in his homeland. He is active in film and television, as well as on the stage of the theater.
