Artist Robert Indiana is one of the most prominent figures in American art since the 1960s, a leading representative of pop art.
Robert was born on September 13, 1928 in Newcastle, Indiana under the name Clark. He studied art at several prestigious educational institutions in America, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine and the Edinburgh College of Art. Since 1954, the time of graduation, he settled in New York.
Indiana became known for his bold artistic images, which became one of the most radical phenomena in pop art. One of the most famous works of the artist is the word LOVE in red, blue and green with an inclined letter O. The apparent simplicity that Robert resorts to makes his drawings similar to logos, and avant-garde methods of imagery have made his work iconic.
