In 1900, Edgar Burroughs married Emma Hulberty, the family had three children: a girl and two boys. However, the marriage broke up after 34 years.
The family lived in poverty for a decade, Edgar worked in a candy factory in Idaho, and served as a railroad police officer in Utah, even a manager at Sears.
At the age of 35, he began writing for various magazines and quickly became convinced that he was the best at it. Edgar worked both on low-quality literature and on quality works for the best publications.
In 1912, he finished writing his first professional work, Under the Moons of Mars, which told about the adventures of John Carter, who got to the planet Mars by a stellar way. He eventually wrote 11 books on Mars.
The second novel, the writer opened the next cycle, which became the most popular - "Tarzan, the adopted monkey", which made him the author of super bestsellers. This includes novels: “Son of Tarzan”, “Tarzan indomitable”, “Finding Tarzan” and others.
In total, the cycle consists of 26 novels. The next popular work was the series “Pelliusidar”, published in 1915.
He is also the author of the works “Crazy King”, “Pirate Blood”, “Efficiency of Experts”, “The Horseman”, etc.
By 1918, Edgar Burroughs could afford to buy a ranch in California.
He died in March 1950 of a heart attack.
