He began his work as an actor Andy Whitfield in 2004 with roles in the Australian TV series “Daughters of McLeod”, “Stripes”, “All Saints”. His first serious role was the role of the archangel Gabriel in the film Angel of Light (2007). For this role, Andy received the award “Best debut”. The film broke all Australian box office records. Whitfield became widely known after the release of the TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, where he played the main role (Spartacus). Also, the actor played in the rather famous thriller “Clinic” (2012), about this film in Australia said literally everyone.
In 1999, Andy married Terika Smith, and the marriage broke up in 2003. In 2003, Andy Whitfield married Vashti Whitfield again. The couple has two children, born in 2005 and 2007.
In March 2010, the actor was diagnosed with cancer of the lymphatic system, which delayed the shooting of the second season of the series “Spartacus: blood and sand”. On September 11, 2011, Andy Whitftld died at the age of 39.
