Richard worked for a long time and successfully in theaters, in particular at the Trinity Repertory Theatre in Rhode Island. Having worked for many years as an actor, he was artistic director of this theater from 1990 to 1994.
In 1969, Jenkins married Sharon Rayna Friedrick. They have two children: daughter Sarah Pamela and son Andrew Kenneth.
