The death of his mother returned the crown prince to his native penaties and a new round of struggle for the throne begins. The prince also falls in love with the driver's daughter. The finale of the film epic will amaze even the sophisticated viewer, as the royal secret is revealed, about which few people knew.
For lovers "Mahabharata", shot at the level. Amitabh Bachchan at the height, as always. One of those Indian films that can be watched constantly. The film with deep content, made a great impression. No computer special effects, but it looks in one breath. The story, the actors, the music, I loved it. The Indians are good. This isn't the place for muzzle lovers. A film for a different audience. A great opportunity to look at Indian philosophy and traditions. Beautiful actors, beautiful costumes, beautiful scenery. A film about duty and honor in the Indian sense. A luxury film for those who have an idea of the Indian code of honor. Designer 100+.

Events take place today in one of the surviving royal palaces. Yes, and today there are still princes of different levels in India. At the funeral of the mother comes the son - Harshvardhan. And the prince does not yet know what really happened here.
I thought it was an epic movie like "Ashok" or "Akbara" but I was wrong. In the presence of secrets, everything is presented quite logical and modern, without lamentation and tears. The vaults of palaces are exotically intertwined with cars at the gates, and electric lamps with torches. And the prince in a shining helicopter - super!

Amitabh Bachchan as always a master of his craft and the role of Eclavia was played by him perfectly. What eyes he had - so loyal and kind. As always impressed with the performance of my role, I sobbed to tears when it was shown. I especially liked the case of a pigeon - the angles of shooting are beautiful, very fascinating.
Boman Irani - a man with a capital letter. Beautiful and realistic, looked funny, ridiculous, but crazy in the image of the king. I respect him very much as an actor for his work.
Sanjay Dutt conquered the image of an honest and fair police officer Pannalala. After all, the laws are too unambiguous for the complex nature of people.

Vidia Balan is good, this actress is one of the few actresses who are able to transform from film to film, playing completely different roles. Well done.

In general, the film is good for both the story and the actors. Movies without songs and dances. I always shudder internally when some reviewers and critics call this wonderfully fascinating spectacle a down-to-earth whip word Dances (directly twitches every time I read reviews of any Indian film). What kind of dance are these, gentlemen? Dances are Russian folk, or Ukrainian (like Gopak), and in India, stunning imagination, fascinating, amazing and absolutely unique ancient dances. And to call them "dances" at least disrespect to the ancient culture of the world, and to Indian cinema, too.
Awesomely beautiful film, great direction, wonderful cast. Absolutely unpredictable development of events, the strongest emotions, in style is very similar to the films of S. L. Bhansali. This is a great movie!

In our world, most often, there is a struggle between evil and evil, where each of the two evils appears in the mask of good.

This film is very different from other Indian films. He sort of stands alone. This is not an ordinary story.

On the one hand, stunning footage, an interesting story with the preservation of the traditions of revenge, love and law (in this case, the performance of dharma). On the other hand, the absence of songs and dances, a slightly slow-moving plot, but there is not a single extra frame, the action is underway.
On the one hand, it is modernity; on the other, we find ourselves in ancient India with its kings, palaces and servants. Nothing says that this is a modern world, except a helicopter or cars with police officers. A lost world, a corner of the past.
There is no tragic and vivid love story, not between the Queen and his guardian, nor between Harsh and Raju. At the same time, the motive of love is inherent in the film. I like the Saif and Vidya couple. They are so real, they are so sincere. And a father's love for his son... Amitab Bachchan is excellent in any role. You believe him, you sympathize with him, you support him.
Here, as it were, there is a fairy tale, a legend and at the same time it is not, everything is real.
That’s the double feeling that this movie has.

I think you should be in the mood to watch this movie. This is not a story of blood revenge, not a love story, not a historical novel. The whole storyline is intertwined around one idea: dharma. Heroes follow the dharma, having lost themselves in debt. Probably, this film will understand those who are close to the worldview of Hindus and Buddhists.
Reflecting on the film, I came to the conclusion that there is a subtle parallel with Shakespeare's Hamlet. Maybe that's why Shakespeare's poetry is mentioned in the film.
The movie is really good. Both the idea and its implementation. It's a mix of Indian culture (the idea of revenge and law, for example) and arthouse cinema, where sometimes silence and stare mean more than words. Such a fine line that unites everything, balancing between truth and legend.

Surprisingly, the film is without humor and does not cause tears. After watching, there is no feeling of relief or heaviness. All that's left is breathing. Either you are listening or you are listening. An unusual film, especially for Bollywood.
This film is definitely worth it to those who want to discover new aspects of Indian cinematography.

The film is unusual and extraordinary. It is not often that Bollywood makes such films, which seem to be slow, and at the same time do not let go of attention, keep in suspense. The film is based on three pillars - Bachchan senior, Saif and Vidye. This film could be boring, because of its slowness, protractedness and dharma (there was a clear overabundance in the film). But he didn't. The plot line leisurely, whimsical snake winds from the past to the future, telling how it all began and what everything turned out to be.
Amitabh evokes a painful feeling of tenderness and sympathy, like a father who has no right not to tell the truth to his son, he does not even have the right to call him a son.
Vidya - no, she does not play, she is amazingly truthfully experiencing the love of her heroine ... I really admire her as an actress.

And Saif, too. They are so believable in their images that you feel an involuntary awe when they just talk and look at each other, it is such a piercing sensuality. Saif and Vidya played love so that a lump froze in my chest. Their mutual recognition of love is indescribable. They are extremely attractive – a beautiful couple. And the plot, although unpretentious, but when there was a turn of events, each time it was a surprise to me. And the mood, like the plot, changed dramatically (especially towards the end), from good to bad and vice versa.
Strangely, it is very difficult for me to describe my feelings after watching this movie. Usually these are clear “pros” and “cons” – advantages and disadvantages, which after watching I can decompose into shelves and describe. It was all mixed up. The whole film is based on actions that are done in the name of dharma, so much is said about it that it is boring, but without this component, the characters of the film would be very different. This is a film in which honor, duty, loyalty and love are shown so truthfully that all the shortcomings of the movie are forgotten, they simply do not notice. And the word "debt" doesn't seem outdated - without it, I think it would be a very different movie.
Anyway, I'm very impressed. I feel like I was watching a movie and then woke up and realized it was a dream. When you watch it, reality is erased and you get into an ancient country, beautiful, fascinating, but which hides many secrets and not all of them are so good. This is not an Indian film, but a film about India.
An extraordinary movie!
