Well, what to say, just a slasher, which is almost enough to become good, but stumbles on important moments because of what just becomes good.
One of the drawbacks of this film is the lack of a holiday atmosphere. Seriously, it's called Valentine's Day, and it feels like the film is happening on another day. It's like in "Halloween" Carpenter on the streets would not be pumpkins, the children were not in costumes, and on TV played "It's a wonderful life", and here the holiday of Halloween then? (well, except for the back story of the maniac).
The story itself is interesting, but the final twist I did not like. It raises plot holes and questions: How? Why? Why?
The actors were fine, but Jensen Ackles played really well. Of the characters, I liked Tom, and the rest of them were so bad, especially Axl, who behaves like a hypocrite.
The maniac was memorable. The miner is frightening. He's strong and smart. But his motive is strange.
Deaths are memorable. People engaged in practical effects did their job to fame and turned out bloody spectacular. I can’t single out my favorite death, because they are all done well.
Overall, the movie turned out well. Just not bad. Whether or not you decide for yourself.
A new version of Bloody Valentine was released in 2009. The beginning of the film is a reshot ending of the famous horror movie of the 80s, and then we are shown a new story of a maniac in a mining mask that ends openly, as well as in the original.
The first version of the tape was filmed in pursuit of the successful "Friday the 13th", but the popularity in the box office that project had. And only over time, the film gained cult status, collected good criticism and recognition of Hollywood, becoming a classic of the slasher genre. In the early 00s, many old horror films of the 80s were remade, but few of them were lucky to get a sane remake. We can say that the new “My Bloody Valentine” is self-contained and quite a good film. From the first version, only the scene and the maniac in the mask remained. The plot is quite dynamic, the viewer does not get bored, there is no sagging. The cast is very good, the artists are reliable. And even a girl in the nude is not some statistics for $ 10, but a rather talented actress, playing on the verge of a foul. In general, the new film about Valentine stands out from all such horror films zero full nudity, as well as very cruel scenes of murder. And they are made both with the use of excellent new special effects, and masters of the old school. It looks frightening and quite plausible.
What I didn’t like about the film was the almost complete lack of holiday tinsel on Lovers’ Day. Yes, from an earlier version borrowed a chip with valentines and a little festive decoration was glimpsed in the supermarket. But that’s not all, the film could have taken place on any other weekday and nothing in the script would have changed. What does Valentine’s Day have to do with it? After the 1981 film, colorful postcards with poems and hearts fluttering in the supermarket above the box office just make me creepy. But this aftertaste from the new version of Valentine will not. The film is good, good quality, but something is missing. There is financial calculation, there are attempts to do something like this, but there is no soul.
With the identity of the killer came out a detective in the style of Agatha Christie, probably none of the audience could not guess the essence of the maniac. This is the first time I’ve seen such an intrigue in the tape, I liked it. But the implementation is very spontaneous.
In general, young people will like the film, but fans of the old school genre of slasher are unlikely.
Directing, staging, script, makeup at a height, as well as acting.
It used to be better and the girls were more natural.
The original movie My Bloody Valentine, released in 1981, I really liked it, and I just couldn’t get past the remake. Of course, I understood that the original raised a very high bar, and it would be very difficult to surpass it, but it was still interesting to see what Patrick Lucsier, the director of the remake, can offer us.
Differences from the original begin immediately, with the plot. Here we only casually hint at the tragedy that occurred in the mine, and the main plot is tied to the return of one of the participants in those events. 10 years after the tragedy, Tom Hanniger returns to his hometown in order to deal with the affairs of his deceased father, the owner of the mine. And at the same time, as our hero comes to his native penate, murders begin to occur there, and all suspicions fall on him. Tom has to find out who is behind the murders and justify his name.
As in the case of the original, there is an allegedly unexpected turn at the end of the plot, which is guessed from the middle of the film. The secondary characters in the remake are not revealed at all, and when they are killed, the viewer does not have any emotions at all. It is clear that the murder is bad in any case, but in the original characters were sincerely sorry, and here all the characters are too faded against the background of the main characters.
I didn’t like the acting either. Even Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, as Tom, looked faded. Very strange, because in other films, his acting does not cause complaints, and Dean Winchester is generally one of the best characters from all the series in general. But he clearly didn't get into the role. Other characters also looked faded, no one especially remembered.
The maniac turned out very well, at the level of the original. And most importantly, he is not an invulnerable monster, a couple of times the victims managed to give him a good fight. The murder scenes came out quite colorful. The special effects and make-up are great here, although you could do a little more of these scenes. Musical accompaniment is normal, suitable for action.
From what I like, I will mention scenes that refer to the original. For example: a scene with falling suits in a mine, or a scene with a maniac hitting light bulbs with a pickaxe. It is a pity that such scenes are not enough.
Summing up, I note that the remake turned out to be much weaker than the original tape. This can be seen literally in everything, and above all in the plot details. And the selection of actors here is clearly unsuccessful (forgive me Eccles fans).

The knife was, the machete was, the bladed hands were. But the pickaxe is something new! The eponymous remake of the horror film 1981, released in 3D and became the first film of this format with an R rating, is a real delight for fans of Dean Winchester, because Jensen Ackles played a major role here!
In general, in 2009, when My Bloody Valentine was released, both Ackles and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester, respectively) starred in remakes of popular slashers of the 80s, taking advantage of the resulting pause in the shooting of Supernatural. For Eccles, it was My Bloody Valentine, and Padalecki played in the remake of Friday the 13th.
By the way, according to the creators, the events of My Bloody Valentine develop on Valentine’s Day, which falls on Saturday. Accordingly, on the eve of the calendar, before the start of the bloody bacchanalia in the town of Harmony, it was just Friday, the 13th.
Here 10 years later, Tom Hanniger (Eccles) returns, who left the city after a bloody massacre committed by one of the miners. But with the arrival of Tom, the murders begin again and naturally he turns out to be the number 1 suspect of the local sheriff Axel Palmer (Kerr Smith). And Axl has personal motives to suspect Tom, because now he (Axl) is married to the ex-girlfriend of the protagonist Sarah (Jamie King) and meetings between former lovers cause the sheriff a fierce sense of jealousy.
In general, in addition to bloody crimes, the viewer will also see a love triangle in which everyone has something to hide.
Patrick Lucsier (director of the picture) having stuffed his hand on the trilogy of Dracula - the first part is Dracula 2000 with Gerard Butler and then two sequels, went on the road of horror, turning his attention to Bloody Valentine 1981. A new reading of that story, supported by modern (at that time) achievements in the field of cinema (we are talking about 3D), allowed to create a very bloody action that develops according to all the laws of the slasher, abounds in brutal murders and of course is equipped with vivid scenes created just under the 3D format.
“Meat” in the film a lot and lovers of such delicacies will surely be satisfied. The film is not at all “ashamed” of its genre, as it was with the same “Scream 3” for example, where violent murders were an order of magnitude less in comparison with the first part of the franchise. "My Bloody Valentine" 2009 in terms of cruelty works at the level of "Saw", showing an abundance of blood, torn bodies and adding to them also very revealing scenes with nudity. Again, not all slashers can be seen completely naked girls who have only... shoes on their body!
The good thing about the maniac in the film is that he doesn’t go slowly after his victim like Michael Myers, he’s ready to throw the pickaxe after him if necessary so that the victim doesn’t run for nothing.
Scrimmers, scarecrows and all the effects of “boo” are in principle guessed and the viewer, depending on a particular scene, will understand what to expect in the next moment. Well, their number saturates the film with constant dynamics. You do not have to wait long for the first corpse or watch how a maniac in an hour and a half barely deals with a couple of victims. There are so many deaths in My Bloody Valentine that the film may well pass for one single bloody mess. However, the presence of a detective component still does its job - the film is presented as a massacre with its meaning. Moreover, the scenario does not look far-fetched, and the motives of the maniac are unnatural. No, it is logical and understandable.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Remakes are usually scolded, but among them there are still successful shots that not only do not disgrace the original, but also become better than him. In 1981, "My Bloody Valentine" performed poorly. Perhaps because they tried to cut the bloodiest scenes out of it, but before the fame of Friday the 13th, he did not jump much, although he even showed a clear reference to his competitor. This reference is in the remake (it is unlikely that the secondary character is accidentally named Jason), but still the new version is a more delicious product.
The experience of numerous predecessors, of which dozens had already accumulated at the time of 2009, must have affected. Now fear is felt not only in the scenes with the attack of Harry Warden, but in many other moments. The gloom and bloodiness are perfectly combined with the new 3D technology, which competently enhances the effect of immersion. The boom in movies like this has been sleeping as fast as it has taken off, but it will be a few years from now. So far, Harry's pickaxe flies through glass and skulls, right in the audience's face, and it looks amazing, without any comment. With one exception, except that the very first murder looks very cartoonish. Most likely, the actor on the set did not even raise his hand over his colleague.
Betsy Ruh. She is the highlight of the film, because the "frank" scene with her participation leaves far behind the "Basic Instinct". I wouldn’t be surprised if many viewers learned about this film from some selections of “top 10 horror films with erotic scenes”. Violent murders, alternating with scenes of sex, always increase the degree of tension, since fear and sex drive are equally primitive, basic feelings familiar to anyone who is not a robot. Is this not the reason for the popularity of horrors and slashers in particular?
To the credit of the remake, it is worth noting a good attempt to twist the plot more strongly and bring more surprises to it. The only trouble is that this is an attempt, which at the final twist causes more bewilderment than delight. This is aggravated by the fact that the protagonist and antagonist are constantly trying to swap places, and when you notice shortcomings in the winner, then from disagreement with the script, impressions deteriorate a little. Partly for this reason, My Bloody Valentine 3D is perceived with less enthusiasm than the remake of Halloween. If we talk about purity, then nakedness and brutal murder are his great virtues, but everything is limited to them. The actors playing the main roles are not very convincing, and it would probably be much better to add more female characters and make the film an erotic thriller. So many people, so many opinions.
I watched the original from 1981. Strictly speaking, the new film is only a partial repetition.
With the main characters - intrigue. The sheriff is the sheriff and Axel is the miner. In the new film, Axel was made the successor of the sheriff. These little things are sometimes necessary - the film acquires a necessary mystery.
The motive power of the villain is inconclusive in both versions.
It is unclear why he is killing these people. Well, you tell me what to take from the touched. Yeah, but he's supposed to be on something. Of course, his ban on Valentine's Day celebrations in the 1981 original is a weighty argument, but it is poorly read unless you know the background. In the new version, it was quite difficult with the motive, because in itself the madness for this genre is not a motive.
Now, what I don't like about finals like the original and the remake. It went not so long ago - the insect preserved in the bank beats with its wings, the alien disgusting underdestructed lurked.
It is not that “evil must and will be punished.” I won’t name it right away, but there are probably movies where an open ending is justified. But you always want to finish. Points.
I can’t even say anything about acting – it didn’t exist. Running, jumping, stone faces, meaningful glances – all this we have seen – have seen a million times.
Conclusion. Begin to make a remake - penetrate into the depths of the psychology of each character and situation, remove tits (hussars, be silent!), set the heat with unexpected turns, do not pour so much blood, preserve intrigue, make each hero a person - with his line, explanation of actions. And then maybe the remake will be better than the original.
I didn’t like the original at all. Even with a discount for a year of shooting and unusual look "special effects".

Frankly speaking, “My Bloody Valentine 3D” or in a more correct translation simply “My Bloody Valentine” is a very ambiguous film work. Today I will try to put everything in place and draw a conclusion on the basis of which to put an objective assessment.
First of all, I need to define the criteria by which I will evaluate the film. As we can see from the description "My Bloody Valentine" has the genre of horror, thriller and detective. Since the primacy is in horror, the most important criterion will be the atmosphere. Components of the atmosphere are such criteria as the plot, which in turn is the most important for the detective and thriller. In addition, we should not forget about such criteria as acting and soundtrack. For the subgenre of a maniac and a murderer, the maniac himself is very important.
Plot: Tom returned 10 years after the terrible incident back to his town on Valentine's Day. But suddenly, new murders begin, and Tom wants to catch the killer. The plot, without a share of pathos and any hyperbole excellent. In the first few minutes, you don’t know what’s going on, the story is going really fast. But the further you look, the more you immerse yourself in this universe and get to the heart of the matter. I can’t say that the plot is full of some sharp plot twists, but for horror films, that’s not the most important thing. Also, what surprised me is that there is almost no tick. What do I mean? It is not clear from the very beginning who will live and who will die. All the time you try to predict the future of the story. Moreover, such questions arise in my mind: Who's the killer? Who will die next? What's going to happen now? And lots of questions. It plays the element of detective and thriller, that is, there is suspense. Because of this, you can't get away from what's happening for a minute. Of course, I can’t compare this plot with the plot of the same “Silence of the Lambs”, as it is different level, but the storyline here is not inferior to the same my favorite “Friday the 13th” or “Nightmare on Elm Street”, and in some moments even surpasses, for example, in the next. By that I mean the ending, you have no idea what an interesting ending it is. In addition, it is explained to the viewer with the help of various scenes, which causes almost no questions after the end.
Actor: The actors played incredibly again. I'm not going to talk about their emotions and so on because they're at a high level. I mean, there's no particular protagonist or antagonist. That's the beauty of a detective. You start to suspect one, but then you suddenly switch to another. It causes some excitement, and you just want to look to the end to see if you were close or not guessing at all. Every character, whether you are Tom, played by Jensen Ackles (“Supernatural”) or Axel, played by Kerr Smith (Ryan from “Life is unpredictable”), or even Martin, played by Edie Gatega (“Adrenaline”), the image of each is conveyed and revealed just perfectly. Also, for me, the most important thing is that every hero was a person. By that I mean that everyone has a story. Because of this, it feels both good and bad that they had in life. In other words, the heroes are not empty, but important parts of the entire mechanism. This is the most important thing for me in this criterion.
Soundtrack: The musical accompaniment is very pleasant to hear. In addition, it is put where it is needed and conveys exactly what is happening on your screen or monitor. Unlike the Orphan Killer. For example, "Prodigal Son", "Buried Alive", "Left for Dead", "A Troubled Conversation", "Triumvirate", "An Axe to Grind" and so on. Each track creates this suspense, which is very important for thrillers. Michael Wandmacher has done a great job.
Maniac: I've seen so many maniacs before. A maniac with Machete, my favorite Jason; a maniac with claws on a glove, Kruger; a maniac with a kitchen knife, Myers; even a maniac with a work hammer, from the movie "Bearing the Cross" and so on. But the pickaxe maniac wasn't there yet. Do not think that this is a mockery, since the pickaxe fully fits the image of the main villain of this film. I really liked it, you know, it's a mix of Jason and Kruger, and when you watch it, you know what I mean. It has its own feature or feature, namely physical strength and large size, which is why it inspires fear and is not small. As a result, I can conclude that the maniac himself was almost completely exposed. There is only one question that I will not talk about because it will be a big spoiler.
Atmosphere: Since all of the above criteria were quite high, I can safely say that the atmosphere of My Bloody Valentine was unbelievable. I really immersed myself head to toe in the world created by Patrick Lucsier. This film has been keeping you busy for 1 hour 41 minutes that you don’t want to be distracted because you want to know the truth. I wrote about this above, but I will write again. I don’t know how to describe this atmosphere, because you have to feel it yourself. But I won’t say it’s the best atmosphere I’ve ever felt in a horror movie.
So "My Bloody Valentine 3D" or more correctly just "My Bloody Valentine" is one of the best horror movies I've been lucky enough to watch. This film is very multipolar, there are elements of horror, there are elements of a thriller, there are elements of a detective. In short, this is one of the small cases where the description fully corresponds to the realities. In addition, My Bloody Valentine will also appeal to lovers of blood and meat. Then there are completely candid scenes, which can also attract a certain part of the audience. You film may be interested in an interesting and unpredictable plot, excellent acting, the same soundtrack and atmosphere. I recommend watching. I would love to put 9, but still due to small gaps and inefficiencies, I will withdraw -1 points. All my words can be confirmed by the fact that this product of the film industry paid off as much as $ 85,734,718 with a budget of only $ 15,000,000, numbers instead of a thousand words.

I recommend watching the film, especially for those who love different horror films, especially Jensen Ackles!
It would seem that here is Valentine’s Day, but the meaning is hidden – another walking nightmare has found its style – a massacre with love.
The idea of the film, in my opinion, is good, but the ending was somewhat upset and surprised. I don’t really like horror movies that seem to be over, but clearly there should be a sequel! It is a pity that our beloved Jensen and his personal life was rolled, and brought on the poor fellow such a heavy burden! A nice innocent guy has been turned into a monster. And there are no good people who would understand him, no, left alone with major problems.
The horror genre is clearly present! In similar situations, anyone of our time can turn out to be, and here it is clearly shown that you can do and lose your life, and then think for yourself what not to do. I watched especially at night, to enhance the effect, but I think that with such good graphics and special effects it would be possible to watch during the day! In some places he was hiding behind a pillow.
With regard to acting, we can say in one word - super! Everyone played well, even for the soul, but about Jensen Ackles I do not say anything! It seems that the actor has found a style of work that only he can control – Dean Winchester! I watched a lot of films with his participation - everywhere almost comes a unique hunter for evil spirits - sweet Dean! His acting is simply indistinguishable from life facial expressions! If you enter the screen, it seems that everything is real!
The film has no downsides, I think. Of course, we all experience differently, someone more important than one, someone else. But the movie itself is great!
It will break your heart, and it will break your heart.
I decided to watch this movie because of Jensen Ackles.
The film is a remake, I haven't seen the original.
I love horror movies, but not like that. There's too much blood and carnage. But it wasn't disgusting. It's more of a thriller than a horror movie. It was scary after all. I was really worried about heroes. The film keeps the viewer on edge. Lots of unexpected moments. Good musical accompaniment.
Plot. There was an accident at the mine that Tom was responsible for. 5 died, 1 survived, killing the others. And this psycho killed many more people after he was rescued. It's been 10 years. Tom returned to this city and the killings resumed. The psychopathic maniac is back in business. The plot is interesting, intriguing. The end was unexpected, and I was surprised to find out who the killer really was. There were many options, but the correct one almost did not consider.
Actors and heroes. Everyone did a great job with their roles.
Tom Hanniger. Jenson Ackles did a great job! It conveyed all the emotions perfectly. The actor has a very rich and lively facial expressions. The character itself was very interesting. The whole film was very sympathetic to him, because he was blamed for the events of a decade ago. Tom was left with a serious mental trauma that he never managed to cope with.
Axel Palmer. Kerr Smith did a great job. Axl annoyed me most of the movie. I hate people who cheat on their wives/husbands. Secondly, Axl was bad for Tom, and I was very sympathetic to him.
A psychopathic maniac. It was very spectacular! Scary mask, pickaxe, heavy breathing. Darth Vader from Star Wars reminds me. In fact, it's really scary.
Special effects. The murders were very spectacular! The R rating is fully justified.
I really didn't like the scene. You could have done without her. That's really a bad thing to look at.
Result: The movie was very bloody. Lots of brutal murders. But despite that, I liked it. It was interesting. I don’t think I want to watch it, but I don’t regret watching it. I recommend it.
The good thing about the horror genre is that there are no taboo themes in it. Filmmakers who take for themselves a goal at all costs to frighten the audience have the right to choose monsters and victims of anyone. Horror spares no one, no women, no children, no old people. Therefore, this genre is valuable, because the pin erases all boundaries, it is much easier to intrigue and shock the viewer with the lack of rules. Not bypassed the horrors of attention and popular holidays associated with the public only with light feelings. So one of the most famous horror films of all time can be safely considered “Black Christmas”, which relatively recently acquired a tolerable remake. No less popular at one time enjoyed and “My bloody Valentine” 1981, describing the misadventures of teenagers on Valentine’s Day. As with Black Christmas, My Bloody Valentine has not escaped the fashion of reimagining the classics. And in 2009, the eponymous reworked story of George Michalka with the prefix “3D” was released on the screens. To direct the shooting volunteered middle-hand director Patrick Lucsier, who gave great hopes due to the success of the youth mystical slasher “Dracula 2000”, but did not achieve serious success on the director’s soil, focusing mainly on writing scripts (“Terminator: Genesis”). The main attractive element of the film was none other than Jensen Ackles, who in recent years is firmly associated with the long-running television series Supernatural. At the time of the creation of My Bloody Valentine 3D Eccles was at the peak of popularity, since his main project had not yet had time to annoy the public. Getting a youth icon of the caliber of Dean Winchester in horror meant that the film was guaranteed to attract the attention of viewers, which, in fact, happened. Patrick Lucsier was able to partially rehabilitate for past box office failures, and Accles was able to take part in a feature film, which in his career is very rare. But it is worth admitting that in addition to Jensen's participation, "My Bloody Valentine" also boasts a strong story, flavored with a twisted detective line. Of course, the remake is far from the glory of the original tape, but it can be safely considered a respectful rethinking, and not greedy speculation on the classics.
The film takes place in a small provincial town. Due to the negligence of the son of the owner of the local mine, Tom Hannigan (Eccles), a collapse occurs, which buried six miners. The only survivor, Harry Warden (Richard John Walters) is in intensive care. Meanwhile, the police conducted an investigation and proved that Harry's colleagues died not from strangulation with underground gases, but as a result of a fracture of the skull with a pickaxe. Some time after the tragic incident, namely on Valentine’s Day, young people are going to tickle their nerves by going to the mine. And just at the same time, none other than Harry Warden comes out of the coma, finally crazy and went to take his justice to the place of work, hoping to get even with the hated Tom. However, the timely intervention of the police saves the guy from certain death. After such ambiguous events, exactly 10 years pass. The residents of the town have almost recovered from the massacre committed by Warden, as they again have to experience nightmares - someone in a miner's mask took up the pickaxe and continues the bloody business begun many years ago. The first suspect in the new murders is Tom Hannigan, who returned home after long wanderings in the hope of selling the mine of his late father. In the midst of fear, hatred, accusations and the first serious love, Tom is forced to figure out the situation before it is too late.
The hero of Jensen Ackles is quite naturally considered to be the leading in history, to solve the mystery of which is not at all as easy as it may seem. The young man made one small mistake in his life, but he became the catalyst for the death of many innocent people. Unwittingly, Hannigan Jr. gave birth to a real monster, which at the time to frighten not only small children, but also adults. Realizing that he is responsible for what is happening, although not completely accepting the blame, hoping for smoothing factors, Tom breaks down psychologically. He runs away from his home, leaving his beloved girl without saying goodbye, and just disappears, as if he was not there. It is likely that many of us would have done so in his place, because some of the ghosts of the past simply cannot back down. However, the main character makes a strong-willed decision and returns to deal with the inner demons once and for all. Jensen Ackles plays his role with due professionalism. Long-term participation in "Supernatural" absolutely did not affect his professionalism. Ackles did a good job with a guy who is literally torn apart, dreaming of leaving all the nightmares behind. Tom Hannigan, played by Ackles, is not a hero without fear and reproach, but also a forgotten crook who did not give up. He also has something to tell us, as we won't know until the end where Tom was, what he was doing, or why he didn't make himself known. His story becomes the main highlight of My Bloody Valentine, for which the whole project was started.
In parallel with the storyline of Tom Hannigan, we watch the events from the point of view of the old friends of the hero - his beloved Sarah (Jamie King) and her husband, Sheriff Alex (Kerr Smith). In order to make the narrative seem voluminous from all sides, Patrick Lussier does not infringe on the screen time of King and Smith, allowing them to reveal the characters with the necessary depth. We can observe the same events that occur in the town and its surroundings from different points of view, which is quite confusing the narrative, because when you have several faithful candidates for the post of killer, then watching what is happening in the frame becomes several times more interesting. “My Bloody Valentine” is full of false arguments, hidden hints and imaginary evidence. You can be sure that some of your guesses will be wrong, because the creators of the tape skillfully concealed certain details. However, in the final surprise also lies the weakness of the film. This is the case when re-watching is no longer fun, because you will know in advance everything that Patrick Lussier has been hiding from the audience for so long. Also, on closer examination, you begin to understand that the director did not always work subtly. Sometimes history lacked the sophistication of the presentation of the material. And this problem is revealed in all its glory just when you know what to watch first.
In the end, I want to say that “My bloody Valentine” although it is effective only once, but it looks intriguing and keeps in suspense. In some places, the film can stun the viewer with an inordinately amplified sound in key action scenes and blood flows that did not save - so prepare for entertaining surprises, of which there will be many.

In my opinion, this film users Kinopoisk underestimated, the film is certainly not the most original, but nevertheless a very worthy representative in the horror genre, now there are not so many high-quality films in the horror genre, and even now watching this film at night 6 years after its release, the film catches and keeps in suspense even without a big screen and without 3 d.
The film with a budget of 15 million dollars looks on one breath, of course, the film has flaws, but in general, even though some victims are stupid, stumble and fall in the wrong time it does not interfere with enjoying the film, all the murders turned out to be chic, not to say they were very cruel, they just turned out to be some very sudden, others are very spectacular, I was most impressed by the ending, but if you touch the murder scenes, it was very clear. I think in 3 D it looked even better.
For many Jason Ackles is associated with the series Supernatural, I did not watch any series from this series and for me he was very remembered in this role, Tom Hanniger turned out to be a very interesting character, Jason just perfectly played, throughout the film his acting was the best, and in the end his emotions were unparalleled, so you need to be able to play, and he managed, go to him such roles, I would like to watch a couple of films with him in this role.
Jamie King, who is remembered for me in her role in Sin City in this film also plays very well, she is here between two fires, on the one hand she wants to communicate with Tom who is connected with her past, but on the other hand she has a husband who she loves very much, throughout the film even felt a little sorry for her, she faced a difficult choice.
Kerr Smith, His character was interesting because of the way he tried to confront Tom, constantly tried to solve this series of murders, in places acted a bit harshly, tried to shut Tom down by any means, even when there was no evidence.
Not to mention the music of Michael Vandmacher, who managed to create a gloomy atmosphere, especially liked the musical theme at the beginning.
In my opinion, the creators of this film managed not only the murder scenes, but especially the beginning of the film and the end of the film, at the beginning of the film it is very spectacularly shown how it all began, and in the end we find out who exactly did it all, of course you could guess, but this ending did not become less cool, everything was great.

Absolutely zero film. Not because it is miserable, but because it is meaningless. Clichéd and completely incomprehensible, the film caused only endless yawns, not the promised fear.
The first thing that catches the eye is the staging of some scenes and camera work. Sometimes it felt like watching not a film made for 15 million, but a cheap TV show of an amateur director. Completely indistinct plans, drawn-out scenes (when, sometimes, a minute show a pickaxe sticking out of your head) - all this is primarily striking, spoiling the feeling of the picture. The only thing that pleased me was the decorations. The scenes in the mines looked really atmospheric, but they were there, unfortunately, for 15 minutes from strength.
The actors didn't play at all. You can immediately see that they wanted to sneeze at what they are filming, that they were paid and they discourage their scripts, just to quickly leave the filming. And this is still understandable, but in our version, there is also a dubbing that will turn even a potentially good scene into boredom and squalor.
Since the film is slasher, then the clichés must be slasher - apparently this is what the writers thought when they wrote the script. The cliché is the weakest point in this picture. They are present in all these horrors, they have been ridiculed by everyone, everyone who could, but here they call the same facepalm, otherwise you can not tell. A moron who, being among the mutilated corpses, tries with a surprised look to find (loudly call!) friends. A maniac with the powers of teleportation and invisibility, and apparently immortality. All this leans the film towards comedy, but not horror. The only thing that could bring the film detective component, but even it was spoiled by the final “hello Zepp”.
As a result, we have a standard, stamped, not distinguished from single-genre projects film, the history of which could be made quite suitable detective.

The film with a beautiful title "My bloody Valentine" really bloody and faint of heart it is better to watch some comedy instead, and the rest "welcome to the bloody party."
Of course, I, like many, watched My bloody Valentine because of the starring in it Jensen Ackles, who, following the example of his "film brother" Jared Padalecki ("House of wax figures"), decided to also act in such a genre popular among young people.
A group of teenagers go on a tour of the mines, where they come across or, rather, they come across a maniac in a mining helmet and a gas mask, who tries to paint them with his pickaxe. The three manage to escape by car, and one (Tom Hanninger) is left alone with the maniac before disappearing from the city. And so, 10 years later, Tom, who still managed to survive, returns to his hometown, where murders immediately begin to occur. Of course, suspicion falls on Tom, who has suffered psychological trauma. Tom’s former rival, Axel, who over 10 years has become a successful sheriff and the husband of Tom’s ex-girlfriend, who still can’t forget him, is especially trying in his suspicions. In addition to murder, the love triangle begins. Axel, out of jealousy, undertakes to investigate these crimes.
The best thing about this movie is the atmosphere. Creepy and gloomy she keeps the viewer in suspense throughout the tape. Horrors in the style of BU from around the corner, sharp moments that catch jumping on the seat / sofa / chair and tipping over the food. The film is shot mainly in dark colors, as is necessary for slasher-horror. Only occasionally we see on the screen events that occur during the day.
The image of a miner killer really inspires fear. The way of his murders - spectacular, cruel and bloody - makes them turn away from the screen. And sinister sniffing through a gas mask will be dreamed by someone in nightmares, as will the chilling blood and terrifying pickaxe. I think if you watch this movie in the cinema, and even in 3D format, the effect will be even more expressive. I looked at it at home. And thank God! Someone would definitely crush my legs, running away with screams from the cinema.
Jensen Ackles and Kerr Smith played 5+. Especially Jensen was on top. His hero, who survived the tragedy and became entangled in himself, evokes sympathy and sympathy.
Because, to my great regret, having read spoilers, I already knew the “shocking ending” for me, it did not become a revelation. I do not know if I would have guessed without knowing anything before viewing, but it seems to me until the very last minute it is difficult to guess who the killer is.
Result. "My bloody Valentine" took a worthy place in the series of classics of youth horror, such as "I know what you did last summer", "Urban legends", "House of wax figures", "Scream", "Scream in the dormitory", (you can continue indefinitely) "Promise", etc. And it was not the last place among them. And at the expense of an extraordinary ending even stood out.
For quite a long time, 3D technologies have entered the world of cinema and on the example of numerous trials with errors have developed almost into one of the most popular platforms of modern cinema. Thus, having achieved the fact that almost all modern films come out in a three-dimensional image and almost all their three-dimensional images are brought to absolute perfection, but everything starts from where and perhaps one of the first founders of this technology in the genre of horror films, this film was directed by Patrick Lussier.
Almost from the very beginning, it becomes obvious that this film is directed by Patrick Lussier, which reflects on the screen such a disgusting view of three-dimensional technology that against this background, similar claims to the Battle of the Titans become absolutely inappropriate and extremely subjective.
This one pretty spoils the impression of everything that happens on the screen. Which is even worse than a B movie. At first glance, the film keeps the canonical cliches of modern horror films and tries to squeeze on the screen almost all the same elements of blood, violence, a sea of blood and corpses with very sophisticated and bloody ways of killing the characters of the tape. But here it is played too cheap and confused. When as a long-standing reception of directors of horror films with nude actresses and bed scenes on the screen is also not able to save the film from the inevitable shutdown of viewing and the sudden removal of this “movie miracle” from the computer at lightning speed.
In terms of the plot, the film is very simple and also holds the basic rules of its genre. Hence, it is not surprising that predicting the twists of the plot obviously becomes very simple, and the finale of the picture does not become a surprise to all those who have watched films like “The Shining” and knows how to move their brains.
The only significant joy when watching is the presence of Jensen Ackles in the title role, which is already associated with Dean Winchester from the insanely successful series Supernatural. He played really well here and if it wasn’t for him, it would be a real test to see this ugliness to the end. Surprisingly good and Jamie King , which, although sunk since the time of “Sin City”, but still plays at a very good level. When as the district sheriff in the performance of Carter Smith turned out to be absolutely mediocre and even ridiculous.

My bloody valentine 3D is an exemplary representative of a horror film category B, which, although it holds on to the basic rules of the genre, but absolutely disappoints with its incredibly primitive plot, second-rate production and simply disgusting 3D, without which watching the film would probably be even less interesting.
First of all, the very idea of making a film about an almost unkillable, elusive killer miner seems very delusional in our time. This idea was relevant 30 years ago, but now it looks like archaism, yes, we can forgive a lot of clichés of remakes of really cult old horror films, since this is already an incorruptible canon, but to revive something so wild and not so popular today, without looking back on fashionable realism, it is, frankly, risky.
At first, all fears come true, here you and Jason in a helmet with a gas mask and stupid teenagers and a foreign location for such a movie - a mine. It all looks the same as it sounds – crazy. And, I confess, several times I interrupted the viewing without having overcome 10 opening minutes of the picture, it seemed all in a much better, and most importantly, the usual performance I can get by looking at any part of the established franchises about Freddie, Myers and so on.
I'm so glad I overpowered myself once! Firstly, after those very 10 minutes, the story leans towards the thriller / detective genre, and secondly, over time, the local setting surprisingly ceases to seem something absurd due to the excellent dynamics of the picture. Third, King’s atmosphere occasionally slips through the scene, a small mining town where everyone knows each other. Oh, these towns... Their fate is unenviable. In the fourth: there is an element of surprise, albeit in ways known for a long time, we are trying to intrigue. Mainly the question: "Oh, who is the killer?" and, damn it, it works!
In the arsenal, the “Valentine” also has a trump card in the form of the title “the cutest look ever” Jensen Ax. Seeing him in a bigger movie is great. The girls will be 100% satisfied. He played Jensen with dignity, in the role of a handsome millionaire looked as organic as possible. The rest don’t spoil the picture, there are some really well-designed supporting characters like the sheriff and his wife played by Jamie King and Kerr Smith. Yes, not everything here is cannon fodder, which is undoubtedly pleasing.
Technically, everyone's on top. Repeatedly and very skillfully used 3D, the best horror in stereo format I have never seen. The sound is atmospheric, skillfully maintains the atmosphere.
“My Bloody Valentine” (I hate the 3D inscription at the end of the titles) is a real find for all fans of the horror genre. This is a non-standard horror movie, with secrets, twists, central characters not suffering from stupidity (the opening scene shows us their own 10-year-old stupidity, in the remaining 1.5 hours everything changes dramatically). Thank you, 10 years for that, bloody interesting murders and bare tits (men also need to look at something, you ladies have Jensen's eyes over there) and excellent narrative dynamics.
Verdict: Unexpectedly interesting.
Bloody 3D hearts with holes from the ruthless mining pickaxe of a madman in a gas mask
“Great!”, “Original!”, “Understanding!” – I do not really agree with such positive reviews. Yes, it’s a good horror movie to watch with a girl on Valentine’s Day (or one), but no more. Let’s remember that this is primarily a remake of the 1981 film, and for me personally, now watching both films, the comparison is inevitable. The original film had a lot to praise. The remake, in my opinion, turned out to be more fresh, boring and raw. There are enticing “hooks” for a simple viewer who is not familiar with the original source: firstly, Jensen Ackles will again make women’s hearts tremble; secondly, there are enough episodes in 3D, which at the time of rental was sung by PR specialists as best as possible – and justified, since something always flies into the screen; thirdly, the idea of a miner-killer, gutting his victims on a holiday, many seemed original. Only again it is impossible not to remember the old film, because it was he who served as the generator of many scenes and the very idea.
And in it the plot was fresh, good, clear; there was a sense of the zeitgeist, a sense that everything was real, without cheap computer effect, without typical turns and without the most banal “wooden” characters. The remake only remotely repeats the familiar concept, still entertaining us with unexpected appearances of the villain, scenes with an abundance of cruelty and a game of “guessing” about who is really hiding behind a miner’s gas mask.
From the very beginning, we are thrown from place to quarry: there is no normal "intriguing" tie-up, everything happens in some hurry so that the viewer does not dare to fall asleep, for scenes of all sorts of chases, terrible deaths and hopeless hide-and-seek suddenly cover all plot holes. This continues until the cute finale, preparing us a "surprise" , not burdened with the full disclosure of all secrets, but ... and so it will come down.
Yes, here they are, the rules of the modern horror industry: entertain according to an outdated scheme, because the creation of a full-fledged story no longer meets the standards of cinema, in which the main thing is to effectively show how the dangerous, terrible and armed "bad" deals with people in various ways: some will be caught by surprise, others will be pursued, others will fight back. Therefore, My Bloody Valentine 3D is a suitable one-time movie for a specific rest, during which you can be scared and anticipate, anticipate and fear. Such a bloody attraction will invariably brighten up the evening, although it will not give the sensations that were when watching the original, shot more than thirty years ago.

I don’t like slashers and hardly watch them. Suspense, an oppressive and sinister atmosphere and good acting - 9.5 times out of 10 they are all missing. “My Bloody Valentine” would never have interested me in my life if it wasn’t for a ton of Supernatural seasons and cat curiosity. It was very interesting whether Ackles in Valentine will play Dean Winchester or still be able to change his role. I will not say that expectations were not met, but ... I like to criticize in order.
Plot. My little experience in watching slashers still tells me that the plot here is not so much. In the beginning, it is even interesting to watch - I want to find out the motivation of the maniac, to understand the secret of the "escape" of the main character and see the development of the characters. However, the desires here with the possibilities slightly do not coincide - the viewer is left almost in complete ignorance about what remained behind the scenes. Think of it yourself. And, of course, there is no escape from a pile of cliches and dull predictability.
Actor's game.Jensen Ackles Still could! Dean Winchester, of course, and then flashed, but managed to distract. True, the image of the actor could be changed, and then there was a feeling that in the days of filming “Valentine” Eccles had to simultaneously star in “Supernatural”. In general, the actors play at an adequate level for the genre - run yourself, worry and ori. But here is Jamie King wooden a little more than completely.
Dialogues. All clichés. Especially "liked" the declaration of love of his wife husband after she - for a moment - almost killed him a few seconds ago. Oh, marital trust is so fragile these days!
The main villain. We don’t kill, we don’t blow up, we don’t blow up, we don’t blow up, we don’t overdo and many more like that. Why do these people usually turn to the bad side? Fear especially the villain does not overtake, as well as his pickaxe, but he breathes in his gas mask quite ominously.
The ending in the spirit of “oh, what a turn!” is actually very predictable, except that it does not make you yawn. At the very end, we are transparently hinting at My Bloody Valentine 2, but I certainly won’t add it to the list of expected movies. And I don't recommend it.
For a good soundtrack and a scared Dean Winchester:

To the dissatisfied audience, I rapturously shout "Bravo!"" to the creators of this tape. Everyone spoke of the remake of the original horror film “My Bloody Valentine” as a cheap and not at all interesting thrash referring to the formerly boring original idea of the film 1981. Many critics said that the film 48-year-old Canadian director Patrick Lucier only repeats the move of its long-time predecessor and does not show the viewer anything new and exciting. My opinion of this slasher is much warmer. I'll go straight to the story description.
The story revolves around Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles) who came to his hometown 10 years after the terrible events that occurred on Valentine’s Day, which he became a participant in captivity. With the arrival of the young man, the inhabitants of the ill-fated town begin to die at the hands of an unknown maniac and, of course, suspicion immediately falls on Tom. For help, the main character turns to his former lover Sarah. They still have sympathy for each other. However, the girl has been married for more than a year, and even for the local sheriff who has a long-standing dislike with Tom. In the village every day there are more and more victims and the only thing known about the killer is that he is dressed in a miner’s suit and does all his “dirty” business with a pickaxe. Upon learning of this, former Sheriff Jim Björk tells everyone the already famous story of Gary Warden - a man who staged a massacre in the town, but according to Jim, along with their friends, they killed Gary on the day of the bloody mush. A few days later, a mysterious man in a miner’s suit sends Björk to the next world. For all to become open the fact that Gary Warden either rose from the dead or got an heir.
I must admit the plot of the remake is much more interesting than in the original picture. It has the same tension that George Michalka lacked in the film and finally the writers brought to mind the image of the killer. From now on, the maniac is not obsessed with some party, he kills everyone in a row and spares absolutely no one. The director made a huge emphasis on 3D effects. And I recognize the fact that they did well. In my opinion, 3D spoils all the excitement of the film, sitting in the hall people completely forget about the acting, the plot and the work done by the same writer or director. Everyone languishes in anticipation of an object from the screen flying in them and similar effects whose problematicity I described above. However, to say this about the movie “My Bloody Valentine” & #34; it is impossible. This time, 3D did not spoil the impressions of the tape, but only complemented them, which is a rarity for me. The highlight of the horror was not 3D, but the participation of actor Jensen Ackles (known to everyone for his role in the series Supernatural & #34); For the artist, this movie was the third full-length project in his career (oh... and get bogged down Jensen in the series). And, of course, his performance here is not as masterful as in "The Ten-inch Hero"" but he deserves praise, especially in the final scene. Speaking of finals. Thank God the creators had enough imagination to change the identity of the main villain and they did it magnificently. I have listened a million times to discussions on the subject, and yet I agree with the person behind the mask. It did not do in the film and without a scissor (or rather not even a scissor but porn, so if you are readers of some films watch with parents, then I advise you to postpone this one for viewing alone:) that it is impossible to consider a minus, what is a horror film without sex in the frame now? On this cheerful note, the pluses of the picture so not noticeably come to an end and finally it is worth casting your eyes on the minuses, of which there are not many in the picture. First of all, these are again those stupid acts that you can look up to in the original tape. Why is it that when a woman runs away from a maniac into the woods, when she sees an abandoned house in front of her, she will run into this hut? After all, around the forest, run into the dark wilds who will find you there. Nope. According to the writers, a sane person (even in a state of shock) will immediately begin to break into an unknown house, and even without paying attention to the fact that the hut itself looks frightening (something like the recent “Cab in the Woods”" recalled). Further, the eye catches not a noticeable minus - this is a cliché. As much as I would like, it is impossible to close your eyes to the problem of absolutely all horror films. Sometimes it even seems that the directors pursue the idea of using clichés in their tapes, maybe somewhere in some movie code and there is a point on which the victim running away from the killer must trip and start crawling on the ground, but this arrangement has been used millions of times and if in “Friday the 13th” & # 34; 1980 this was not paid attention, then already in the days of “Scream” such a move is enough, so there to talk about today’s films.
I’m sanguine about both sides of the picture, positive and negative, but what does it take to get a good horror movie? A villain? Intrigue? Interesting story? Messivo? The atmosphere? Scary moments? Which of these is not here?
So, here is a remake of the film, released in 1981, “My Bloody Valentine”. I haven’t seen it before, so I can’t compare which movie is better. I’ll tell you my opinion of the film.
I initially did not expect much from the picture, and therefore after viewing I was not very disappointed. Overall, the film was made in the middle. I will discuss some aspects.
1. Plot. It is not bad, the storyline is thought out, interesting events and unexpected turns, although sometimes they look very, very far-fetched. But there is enough blood in the film, fans of horror films will like it. But there was something missing in this story.
2. It is especially worth telling about the ending . The whole story revolves around a maniac with a pickaxe operating in the small town of Harmony. And the whole film she keeps the viewer in suspense. Until the very end, I personally could not determine who the main villain was. That is, the film, despite some disadvantages and shortcomings, still want to watch. At least to find out the main intrigue.
3. Of course, it is worth mentioning about the cast. In the lead role, the role of Tom Hanninger, we will see Jensen Ackles. This actor was familiar to me on the popular TV series “Supernatural”, and it was his participation in this film that prompted me to watch. Of course, I am used to a completely different image of this actor. And here before the audience there is an unhappy and lost young man who survived the attack of a maniac once. But still it is worth admitting that Ackles is very “go” roles associated with mystical stories, although here he was not as good as in the famous series.
And he was joined by Jamie King and Kerr Smith. I’ve seen Smith in a lot of movies, and he’s pretty good in every role. I saw Jamie King in Bloody Valentine for the first time. The lady didn't disappoint. We will also see a lot of secondary characters. And, in principle, their game was not bad.
4. The film is shot in 3D. Which, in my opinion, attracts even more viewers, especially fans of this genre.
In general, the film turned out to be normal, I did not want to turn off in the middle. However, the picture turned out to be disposable, because to review personally does not pull me.
In the end, the film “My bloody Valentine” gets from me

Valentine in scarlet tones, or the mad miners are advancing
For a horror film, the main criterion is originality. Otherwise, no matter how good the picture was, if something like this has already appeared on the screens, the viewer will resist. In extreme cases, you can make a remake of some old and familiar film. So did the director Patrick Lucsier, who in 2009 provided the film "My bloody Valentine". The picture appeared in the sensational 3D, and for this genre it is not yet a very tested format. After watching, viewers split into two camps: those watching in the cinema and those watching at home. The first liked it, the second spoke negatively about the film. Why are there such contradictory opinions?
It rarely happens that the remake is better than the original. In this case, there was no miracle either. The 1981 film was also not good, and in 2009 it did not work out. The action takes place in a small American town, where the main industry is the extraction of coal in the mines. When a maniac in a mining suit appears in such a wilderness, the residents simply could not escape from horror. He was only caught attacking Tom, a young boy. Tom leaves his small homeland and returns only 10 years later. At the same time, on Valentine's Day, the maniac again enters the arena. The sheriff of police just has to find the criminal. The plot can be called attractive, but during viewing there is a feeling of playfulness and absurdity. Where did this maniac come from, why does he kill everyone in a row, why no one can neutralize him - these and many other questions arose in my head and further increased my dislike for the film.
The next thing that really pissed me off was the quality of the shot. My Bloody Valentine" shot just disgusting, on absolutely poor quality film. Not only does the plot not please, so also the camera work makes you think that the picture was shot by amateurs on a cheap camera. I understand that the creators may not have much money. But then the question arises: into what hole did 15 million dollars escape? Even for one million you can make a decent film, and in this case the money simply disappeared, because I did not see anything supernatural in the film.
Keep moving. The word about the notorious 3D, which was so much liked by people who visited the cinema. I personally, even when watching the movie at home, only saw a couple of moments with this effect. Again, it's unclear where the entire budget went. The only advantage of watching movies in the cinema is the atmosphere itself. A large number of people, a late session and a loud, deafening sound also play a role. "My bloody Valentine" and was calculated that the audience rushed to the movies. Not bad, by the way, rushed — more than 100 million collected the film on the territory of the world, and this is a very decent amount for a horror film.
It's time to talk about actors. The main reason why women want to see this picture is, of course, Jensen Ackles. Favorite of the fairer sex, the famous Dean Winchester from the series "Supernatural", will make many fans go to the session. The role of the actor has not changed, the character of this time is not opposed to evil spirits, but a real person, with weapons in his hands. I can say that Jensen played mediocre, no image was created and his game looked even a little wretched. The other actors didn’t try hard either. The role of the sheriff and former friend of Tom played Kerr Smith. Many are familiar with the film "Destination Point". Also a mediocre game, and the character is completely unmemorable.
Conclusion: "My bloody Valentine" - unsuccessfully filmed remake of the horror 80s. Absolutely everything in the film looks cheap - from acting and scenery to special effects and camera work. The only thing that makes you watch the film to the end is the desire to find out who is hiding under the mask of a maniac miner. Slasher moments were present, but they were lost under the overall wretchedness of the picture. I don’t recommend watching it, but if you happen to see this film, it won’t hurt.
I didn’t know much about the film when I saw the title “3D” and assumed that the focus would be on entertainment. I will immediately say that I imagined all a few in a different light and expected to see a kind of youth horror with an emphasis on the Day of All Lovers.
Unfortunately, without the necessary equipment, I decided to watch the movie in 2D. What feels right away is that you’re watching a typical B movie: it’s pretty cheap, there’s no hint of seriousness. It was like Jensen Ackles came running from Supernatural, changing his jacket. However, after a while, the film begins to drag on.
Someone's gone postal
There is a lot of blood and torn bodies in the film, everything is quite spectacular, although it feels like fake. The atmosphere resembles standard low-budget horror movies, where the actors are simultaneously trying to play and play with what is happening around. I must say that I do not watch such pictures in packs, so I can hardly immediately say who is the main villain. This time, my gut didn’t let me down, although there were times when doubt took over. Despite the fact that what is happening on the screen is more like a slasher from the world of video games, watching is quite interesting. There is some intrigue, tension, the film does not let you get bored. 3D would be even better.
It is a pity that the title of the film does not quite justify itself. It was necessary to put more emphasis on the holiday of all lovers. This topic is not fully disclosed here.
Bottom line: I can recommend this film for lovers of carnage and liters of fake blood.

Another setback. After the trailer and the title, I was waiting for something extraordinary, beautiful and creepy. Mysterious and frightening. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.
No, I understand that horror movies are a whole industry. Personally, I am divided into three types. Scary, creepy, vile, with an abundance of blood and violence.
Now there's also this filmmaking thing. I can’t relate to any type, because I was not afraid not disgusting and uninteresting. In addition to all its shortcomings, it is also a remake. I don’t know how the original, but this film is a mockery of the audience.
The script is weak, written freshly and boring, has at least three dozen inconsistencies and is predictable to the horror. From the first minute you know how it will end, but the only thing that surprised me a little bit was I was betting on another character.
The incarnation is so bad, the stamp on the stamp, a gloomy picture of poor-quality makeup, the most boring inconsequential dialogues. For horror depth and not characteristic, but still somehow sympathize with the character, but not here. Not at all exciting, however, you can smile at the stupidity of the characters. For example, the main character in the final had a hundred chances to shoot “Valentine”, but she stands and admires, apparently waiting for her to pay attention.
I will leave the work of the director and actors without attention, I can’t complain, I coped as much as necessary. The only thing I didn’t like was the image of Tom. In the frame, he is no different from the famous Dean Winchester, so native and familiar, for which thank you makeup artists and props. Full reproduction.
In short, in the dry residue, the tape is worth watching for the general development and for the sake of Jensen Ackles, only for its presence.

What is a good b> slasher? It is simple, the main thing is to stick to the formula.
(1) We need a masked killer, preferably one with a particular type of weapon.
2) We need a less tolerable plot.
3) We need good old-fashioned stamps played at least a little new.
4 We need good (maybe average) actors.
(5) Abundance of naked breasts and other parts of the female body.
(6) Blood, meat, blood and meat! A lot of blood and meat!
7) Unexpected ending!
That’s the whole formula, but for the slasher to become great, you need something more ..., which we will not talk about now, because we have a good slasher in every sense!
So in order.
Patrick Lussier is a very interesting director who, however, has not yet proved himself like Aja and other masters of Horrors. However, after a very average work (White Noise 2: Shining), he still managed to shoot a great, colorful remake, which clearly surpassed the rather boring original Valentine, where most of the murders remained behind the scenes for some reason, and the narrative lasted so long that you could fall asleep twice and wake up to the end of the picture. Lucsier worked with Bloody Valentine to fame, perhaps this is his best directorial work at the moment, and I want to believe that he will continue in the same vein.
The cast. Well, there is nothing to say, the composition is the most that is not a star.
Jensen Accles as Tom looks more than convincing, especially considering that his role is one of the most difficult in the film.
Jamie King (Sarah Palmer) is charming, just great, and plays at a level that is still needed.
Personally, I was most pleased by Kerr Smith (Axel), I don’t know why, but it is the image of Axel that for me is the most interesting, revealed, believable with its own vices and secrets, the image of a person who is mistaken, although he tries to learn from his mistakes.
Very pleased with the nudity in the film! She's gorgeous! Fully naked Betsy Roo on studs is something! For this alone, the film is worth watching! In addition, our shapes please not only her, but also the beautiful Megan Boone, so that one of the main features of the slasher is performed just perfectly!
The murders. The murders are great. The quality and originality deserve applause, I will not list, but if you want to look at the juicy massacre and pieces of bloody meat flying into the screen, the film is for you!
Interestingly, if you consider this picture as a thriller, then it is also very not bad. The problem is that we don’t know who the killer really is, and the ending is just BOMBA!
From minus this is finite:
- some stamps are clumsy, you could add originality
As always, the victim’s stupidity.
- lack of suspens as such. In general, I noticed that the more beautiful the film is visually, the less pure saspenza in it, and Valentine is visually just a cover of a glossy magazine, and that on one side plus the other gives a strong minus!
In the end, we have a good slasher, fully consistent with the formula of success. Not brilliant, but better than the original, which says a lot.
What does a successful remake mean to me? This film will answer this and many other questions. The film turned out to be one of the most successful horror films in recent years, and this is not only due to the already familiar 3D format for cinema. Magnificent acting, amazing work of the operator, amazing musical accompaniment and study of characters. After all, if you compare the remake and the original characters in the remake are better worked out, they play better and they are even more pathetic from the very beginning of the film.
The cast:
Jensen Ackles, a talented and handsome actor, did a great job in his role. His acting made me love him more than any of the characters in the film, he was very good at taking on the most difficult role in the film.
Also pleased with the play of a good actress Jamie King, she played in this film unusually, she caused mixed feelings and the opinion about the character is constantly changing.
One of the main advantages of this film, the presence of the originality of the killer, namely the weapon of his murders and his special form for his affairs, this cannot but please fans of horror.
Overall, a successful remake that deserves a place in my collection.
Including the film file, I had no illusions about it beforehand. From Jensen Ackles I do not drool, but the genre of "horror" is my favorite.
It's all very primitive. A maniac with a gas mask? Nothing but disgust. Well, he's walking around with a pickaxe, wetting people, but so what? For me, the idea of such a movie, what is the motive for crimes, is completely unclear? I haven’t seen the original 1981, but I’ll only appreciate the remake. Directorial work is zero, scattering packages of blood on the site is not the height of originality. And the murders’ handwriting is shamelessly written off from previous world-famous films (" I Know What You Did Last Summer), “Especially Dangerous” – a phantom with a bullet, “The Texas Massacre” and others. There is no innovation at all.
As for the acting, we can only note "Acles and Kerry Smith". The first is quite convincing in moments of seizures, the second may well plunge the viewer into what is happening on the screen, without attracting excessive attention. The female caste is stupid to the point of madness, in their cries I do not believe at all. The older generation didn’t notice much either.
I forgot to mention too much dismemberment in the film (no “aesthetics” or anything). You immediately know where the budget went. But the fees for such a remake are very small.
Let me say that spending an hour and a half on an N-grade horror (and here it does not smell like a psychological thriller) is a luxury. Especially if you are a fan of this genre.
