Fan magazine Poltergeist: Legacy I watched the series for the first time in the late 90s and I really liked it. For a number of reasons, I was able to watch only a few episodes and returned to it only ten years later.
Now, after all this time, I realized what affected me then in P:TL.
1) Friendship, friendship between heroes. Willingness to sacrifice yourself, to make a desperate choice between cowardice and courage - and not to regret it.
(2) The “Heritage” world between Light and Darkness. The atmosphere of otherworldly mystery, which is addictive, despite the simple (by today’s standards) special effects – for the most part it is, of course, the merit of the “California” landscapes shot in Canada: a picturesque park, gloomy mansions, an abandoned railway station and, of course, the luxurious Hatley Castle.
(3) Heroes. Adults, spiritually formed and strong people, psychics caught between the real and the unreal world without the ability to go to any one to live a normal life of a person (or non-human). The cost of living on the front lines is well known. Heritage employees do not amuse themselves with the hunt for evil spirits, but seek opportunities to study them in order to protect themselves and ordinary people from the inhabitants of the world of Darkness.
Among the latter, by the way, were a variety of entities: from classical ghosts and violin zombies to cloned in the laboratory demon and succubus.
The only drawback of the series is a new translation. The old one, with whom P:tL was broadcast on ORT, in my opinion, the most successful. But the proposed in 2008 is much inferior to him in quality. "Ottochki", "EnikAsha" instead of "Azazel" (!) and other pearls (which are especially abundant in the first two seasons) can spoil the overall impression.
However, fans of the genre this series is definitely recommended for viewing!
