I saw many contradictory reviews, and they were praised and scolded for the same thing - humor, plot and originality. For some it is all there is, for others it is not. I believe that all parts of this series (except the shorts) are about the same level. This is a rare example when a lot of movies keep the level, does not reduce the budget, ideas do not exhale and the series does not merge into an unseemly parachute. Yes, cartoons are not very kind, they are inserted a lot of infernal parodies on fairy tales and pop culture, there are scenes of unjustified cruelty and toilet humor, there is extra... But all the parts are life-affirming, the endings are always happy, and each time it is happiness with certain conclusions important for the viewer. It was in this part that I liked the unusual villain, the ogre community and the unexpected twist with why the magic kiss didn’t work. It was strong.
Shrek Forever is the perfect conclusion to a series of films that tell us about one of the most recognizable and beloved characters of modern animation - Shrek's green glow.
In this part, we see Shrek getting a little tired of his life in the swamp and wanting a change. He wants to see other ogres that don’t come his way. Shrek gets this opportunity when he becomes a victim of the intrigue of an evil wizard who offers an ogre deal: he will help Shrek become a real brutal for one day in order to meet new ogres. In return, Shrek must give up one day of his life.
Of course, such a pact cannot end without consequences, and Shrek finds himself in a world where almost no one knows him. His wife, Fiona, doesn't recognize him and doesn't want to live with him anymore. In addition, Shrek falls into the clutches of the vengeful and extremely dangerous Rumplestiltskin, who always dreamed of becoming king of Fair-Far-Auer.
Shrek Forever is a beautiful finale that has managed to combine all the main ideas of the previous parts of the series. Here we see the desperate adventures of Shrek, who is driven into a corner by different forces. Moreover, here you can catch the spirit of the general storyline of the fairy tale, which was invested by the director of the cartoon - the motive "finding your place in the world."
Of course, everything here ends classically: the hero realizes what was really important to him. Shrek understands that he would not want to live without love and his children, and that his main goal is to always be with his family and fight for his feelings.
Shrek Forever is a great film that you can watch with the whole family and completely immerse yourself in the atmosphere presented. This cartoon showed that the series is not just funny comedies for children, but a fascinating and exciting story that will give an idea of what true love and heroism means.
Shrek's story is about the interaction of an outcast and society. In the first part, an outcast and a loner unexpectedly finds love and triumphantly leads her to himself. In the second part, our ogre has to fight for his happiness, proving to himself and society that the green giant deserves to live happily ever after. Against the background of the first two parts, the third looks like a filler series, since it does not touch on this topic. The fourth allegedly continues the second part, posing a new question, and was it necessary to destroy his life as a single person and become a full member of society?
Shrek finally got his happiness and fully integrated into society. But then he began to feel that society was making him unfree: preventing him from living as he wished. And then Rumpel appears and offers to go to a world where he was not, where society does not meet the ogre who proves his right to happiness. And society in this alternate reality comes for ogres as a source of free labor. Important detail: the witches did not catch Shrek specifically, but an ogre, and then we are shown that here the ogres are slaves of the racist Rumpel regime.
Realizing what he has done, Shrek begins to appreciate what he had. His loner worldview collapses, he accepts himself as part of society, telling Fiona that she saved him in the first installment. And the fourth part seems to complete the story of our beloved ogre.
To be honest, I was quite skeptical about the 4th part of the cartoon Shrek. Because it was already like the creators of the cartoon want to pump as much money out of an idea that appeared back in 2001.
The plot is based on the fact that Shrek misses his former life in the swamp, now he has become a rather popular person in the Trinity Kingdom, and he would like to remain the ogre who lived in the swamp in peace and quiet. Here comes a Rumplestiltskin who says he can help Shrek with this. And the naive protagonist makes a deal with him. What will be the consequences of this decision?
In terms of plot, this part is probably the weakest, and maybe I’m just tired of this series of cartoons. I thought in the second part that everything was pumped out of it. And if you do that, it's like pulling on a globe. But in general, I was interested in watching the events of the cartoon, where the universe turned upside down, although it is a little different Shrek than the one that was in the first parts.
The antagonist seems not bad, he takes not with his threatening appearance, but more with insidiousness and meanness. But for me personally, he is losing on all fronts. It feels like he's been modernized. .
And so, in terms of heroes, all remained the same - Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, Cat in Boots and the rest. Their characters remained the same, the characters themselves changed outwardly ... especially the Cat.
The music did not touch me personally, most of all in terms of music I liked the second part, as a child I even listened to the ost on my phone! There’s no song that’s stuck in my head. . .
The graphics, compared to the first two parts, have changed. Not all - the drawing remained the same, but it is striking that the characters themselves and the world have become more elaborate, smoothing and detailing are used more. It is cool that in general, the drawing of the characters remained unchanged, only details were added.
I advise you to watch this part at the very end of the cartoon series, when you have already watched all the previous ones and want to see the familiar characters on the screen. Just watch it I do not advise you, after all it is better to start with earlier parts.

Otherwise, it is not a miracle to call the fact that in the fourth part about the swamp ogre there is no toilet humor. A big breakthrough, but that’s only more insulting, because to get to, in general, a good fourth part, the audience must overcome the first three, which are perceived completely differently and do not give logical prerequisites for “Shrek forever”.
There were already dragons, fairies were, the infamous King Arthur was, now it is the turn of the little-known Rumplestiltskin (you can just Rumpel), and the plot swings at parallel realities, almost as it was in The Butterfly Effect. Instead of being fun and parody, we now have a bleak, almost apocalyptic atmosphere. And it seems that all this is good, but the frivolity of the plot is still supported by the fact that we are facing the same character who in the first part joked about the toilet and genitalia. Too much has gone down to the bottom to raise it to one or two. Maybe the creators themselves understood the mistakes made and, using parallel realities, decided to lure those viewers who did not like the previous three parts? Attempt, in any case, deserves respect.
In modern popular culture, and in particular Shrek Forever, one can say “thank you” for the fact that European witches, usually looking like repulsive wrinkled old women, are now more likely to appear young and attractive. Rumpel has a very attractive villainous community, and he himself is perhaps the most striking antagonist of the franchise, which you believe more than Prince Charming from the third part or Humpty Dumpty from the solo about the Cat in Boots. In contrast, Rumpel has a well-developed motivation to hurt Shrek. It may be banal, but it is, and makes you empathize with positive characters. Some dramatic moments are a mirror version of the first part, but when you watch it, you do not pay much attention. If this was the story of Shrek from the beginning, and negative reviews would be many times less.
The trouble with this tape is that it is about Shrek, who is too confidently entrenched in the minds of many as a comic cartoon with second-rate humor.

What if you are a free-spirited ogre and your life has turned into a groundhog day? Of course, sign a contract that will give you a whole day of entertainment! With danger to life, and for loved ones, of course. But it will return to those happy times, when there was not yet a tedious depressive & #39; lived happily ever after & #39; and there were adventures. After a new adventure, the groundhog day can be endured for some time with the words ' I must appreciate what I have ' Yes, yes, I do, but I don’t want to.
This movie is not as bad as they say. There are good jokes, funny moments, and interesting references. But there are 2 things that I think he's sagging a lot - dynamics and psychology.
Psychology first. Heroes have changed. Yes, somewhere elusive, but it still feels. What happened to that active fighting Fiona? At what point did she become the right aunt? But she was also once ' a real thunder'! What happened to the nervous donkey? At what point did he become a middle-aged father? Why did the musketeer cat turn into a cheerful oak figure? People change in life too, you might say. Yes, yes! But we are here to watch not life, but a fairy tale. And we loved the heroes exactly as they were.
They loved and cared for each other. Yes, the donkey could be both harmful and intrusive, but he always saw if Shrek was sad, not like here at the beginning. Yes, Fiona may not like Shrek's behavior, but she was on the side of her beloved. Yes, Shrek ogre, but he was never stupid. What happened here?
Dynamic. I thought I was going to get epilepsy during the movie. Probably, the creators believed that the frequent change of paintings for the younger generation is the same. But at the same time, the plot itself moves with a turtle step. A quick picture is a slow story.
Antagonist. He is so cute that he does not cause any negative emotions. The whole movie wanted to hug him and squeeze him. There is no true arrogance in him that makes a villain a villain. And not even the compulsive splashing of the potion into the assistant helps him. And why do people with such a clown nature have power? A sense of humor and a desire for power are rarely combined in one person, since jesters laugh at power too. And according to the archetype Rumpelshthththththt (sorry) is a typical jester.
There is nothing frightening about his goose, just an abomination. His gray-colored witches are pathetic. Why are they so gray? Anemia due to vegetarianism? And even the rat-catcher - that's who the terrible character, from whom in the original fairy tale the blood chills in the veins! - could not scare.
The complexity of the plot and the feelings. You know, even for me as an adult, it's that mach. It's a long (and dark) scene. The philosophical question is how a seemingly small change leads to huge changes. A kind of butterfly effect in a children's cartoon. I'd say there's a lot of grim, Bertonian in the cartoon. But if I wanted to watch Burton, I would! There's too much gloom, complexity, twist. He's not bad, no. It is too complex for the tone set in the first parts.
Finally, the problem that was posed at the beginning is not solved at the end. Like, change your attitude, and it's not a problem anymore? But it doesn't always work that way. In fact, it almost never works. So created with a clear conscience can see the sequel, in which Shrek learns to defend personal boundaries, discuss with his wife the schedule of housework, and not invite children to the birthday of rude left-wing teenagers.
In general, if instead of one and a half hours of relaxation you are ready to follow the plot, as well as think about philosophical and social tasks, a very good option. And remember, girls, that sometimes becoming yourself is turning from a princess into a beautiful ogre.

If we hadn’t seen the previous parts, then as a solo project, the cartoon would reflect the real story of things. The midlife crisis, fatigue from everyday chores and the desire to relax do not leave Shrek. Values and priorities in the life of a family man are perfectly presented, you believe the hero and empathize with him, but once you enter the fourth cartoon into the general line, then there are already inconsistencies.
Everyone knows Shrek as an ogre who went through a lot for the sake of love and family, he changed himself, he tries to adjust to a civilized society, and especially to the royal side of his wife – family well-being. The birth of children and the awareness of fatherhood was introduced in the third film, and here we have a separate piece of the same Shrek, but this is not the same Shrek. An evil replica of a layered ogre. The director also presented it in such a way that the emphasis is on the angry side, and the three-year gap between projects could dull the image of the hero we are used to. But we still have what we have.
Shrek wants his screen debut, his encore performance, his big and scary ogre, not the mockery that royal life has turned him into. In an annoying scenario, we are greeted by the magic of time travel, a deal and an unusual parallel reality. Okay, Dr. Brown, they're on their heads. Herbert Wells isn't on them. Let’s drop the topic and take the place of the hero. Tired ogre wants to rest, so we are waiting for a portion of the classic Shrek and incredible events.
You know, it's cool, it allows you to look at the image we're used to from the other side. “Pink glasses” quickly evaporate and unexpected things come. Everything changed because they changed the past. The butterfly effect as it is. We are given peace when Fiona is not saved, when the heroes go to rash actions. Consequences allow you to take the images of familiar characters, ridicule impressions and panic attacks Shrek. Funny and disturbing attempts of the green guy to understand this situation.
The donkey appears differently in the life of the ogre, but is also able to exert influence. A cat in boots is shocking like Thor in Endgame, but that’s what makes jokes and new images. When Shrek comes to the realization, we classically observe remorse, awareness of the act and attempts to correct the situation. Once again, we are thrown into a magical world inhabited by all possible fairy-tale creatures. To see this or that character of the book in the Shrek Universe, means to get a pleasant "Easter eggs" and morally satisfied.
The script for saving a past life is clichéd, but it gives unusual situations, new sensations and independently takes out the burden of responsibility that the writers have toppled. The new villain is infuriating, always wanting to shut him up. Of course, Rumplestiltskin is still a prankster, he has already visited the fairy tale once ... but here he causes disgust with one appearance, although he immediately gives a tip on himself.
Unusual relationship of characters and the classic ending, which is predictable even to phrases. Such an experiment is good, but meaningless. Why? Because it's not Shrek, it's an average middle-aged man with real problems, but a warm heart. The cannibal saga is over, but the development is already underway. What can be shown in the remake, when even the sequels no longer know what to surprise, I do not know.
Shrek always crept up to us unnoticed - I remember I was quite surprised to learn about the fourth part. But the commercials were fun, so my family and I went to the movies. The impressions were very good.
Back in the swamp, Shrek's life seems to be back on track. True, with small (and sometimes very large) changes - three small restless and capricious children, crowds of annoying tourists. And Shrek just wants to be the most ordinary giant for a day - to scare people, run from peasants and just lie in the mud. Suddenly ' purely by accident' he is approached by a petty sorcerer Rumplestiltskin, who offers him a deal on special terms - in exchange for one day in life, he will again become an ordinary ogre. Shrek agrees and begins to enjoy a carefree life until he realizes the disastrous consequences of the deal. Shrek goes in search of friends to cancel the deal and return everything to normal.
I won’t say that the fourth part is my favorite in the franchise (I don’t think I can beat the first two), but if we talk about the plot, it was an improvement over the third part. Here the writers used an interesting plot twist ' what if?'. What happens if you change one major event in the past? And how does that affect the present? In the plot of the fourth Shrek - due to shenanigans over time and an unfair deal - Shrek finds himself in an alternate reality, and it's a real flight for fantasy. In addition, there is more room for an instructive moment - we are taught to cherish what we have, because often we can appreciate what we have - only after it is lost. Such a valuable idea adds points to the film.
However, the fourth Shrek still differs from the previous parts - largely due to humor. In my opinion, it sounds different now (I personally didn’t have enough parodies that attracted me in the original cartoon). But that doesn’t mean the movie wasn’t funny – on the contrary, it was fun! These are alternative versions of all the characters, and dancing to a magical tune and incendiary music, and all scenes in the ogre camp.
All the main characters of the franchise are here, and they are more interesting and interesting with each film. Shrack, going through a midlife crisis, makes a dubious deal. which changes his life, forcing him to rethink his core values and make important decisions. And most importantly, he meets again Fiona, who has become a brave leader of the ogre movement, but in the new reality he does not know, and Shrek has to win her heart again. And that storyline was the most important thing for me. And beautiful. Like the phrase - You know what a beautiful day it is today? Today I got the chance to fall in love with you again. - each time warms the heart. . .
Merry and new versions Ass, which is still chatty, more trusting, but still ready to help Shrek, and Cat in boots, which seriously recovered that does not fit into boots, but still ready to use his famous begging look.
The new antagonist is a fairy tale master of magic deals, who always makes deals that are beneficial only to him and no one else. In an alternate reality, he seizes power in the kingdom, hunts ogres and won’t let anyone stand in his way. But, despite all this, he remains a villain, which can be well laughed at (as well as at his predecessors).
Shrek Forever is a very interesting, funny, instructive, concluding the story of the cool giant-heat Shrek, his friends and their incredible adventures. I don’t know how to react to the planned fifth part, but it will be later. Shrek always gets a well-deserved, firm.

After a very weak triquel, the fourth full-length cartoon about the green man-eater caused great doubts, but all of them quickly dissipated. The cartoon really captured me from the very first minutes. The director of "Men on call" - it worked!
The cartoon is insanely positive. The word “Forever” seems to hint, before us the last part of the adventures of Shrek. The truth has already appeared rumors that there will be a fifth part, but for now we consider “Shrek Forever” the final point. The creators added a bright villain - Rumplestiltskin (with an assistant Pied Piper).
By the way, if Prince Charming was responsible for the crime again, it would be too much. Rumple turned out gorgeous (for his wigs special thanks). Great script. It's not a bells and whistles, but it's fine for the fourth part. Meaning is in place.
Someone criticized the cartoon (God, this franchise has been under a thin layer of criticism since the original, honestly). I understand that he is a long way from some Wall-e, no questions at all. And the first two parts will be a little better, of course.
Anyway, I had fun. And most importantly, I was very interested. The donkey is back on the same level. The cat in boots takes its appearance, as it has become fat (don’t be afraid, the effect with the eyes still works). In the end, Shrek and Fiona are able to squeeze a tear with their story (read - love).
I wrote at the time that the franchise needed to be shut down after the first sequel. Allegedly, two parts will be enough. A small correction - "Shrek Forever" let remain. With a big stretch, but still want to say – yes! Frankly, you can safely skip the triquel and immediately hit Shrek forever.
Find your Fiona, find your Donkey, find your Cat, and send all the Rumplestiltskins in three letters.
P.S.
Come on, growl! Dad, you're awesome! - Aha ha, that mean little guy made my day.

I love the first two Shrek movies. They were a huge hit, and I’ve seen them several times. Those cartoons are really funny, original and incendiary. They are not boring, and over the years they can be safely revised. All the characters became loved, and the story about Shrek became a kind of cartoon-smile, about which everyone heard.
When the third cartoon about Shrek was released, everyone was waiting for the same dynamics and humor that they were in the first two cartoons, but the third cartoon turned out to be dry, a kind of bitter candy. It is not a failure, but neither is it as good as the first two, I am neutral towards it, but the third part is the only one that I have seen once and the second will definitely not be.
In 2010, the fourth animated film entitled Shrek Forever was released. I really wanted to see something funny again and feel the fabulous, light atmosphere that was in the first two cartoons. I must say that the story of the fourth part is very bold and original. On the account of alternative reality, they wrapped up well, and this cartoon turned out to be a kind of reboot after the failed third part.
We see Shrek again. He lives with his beloved Fiona and they have a bunch of kids. It seems that this is happiness, and nothing else is needed, but Shrek is tired and wants to feel for a moment the carelessness that he had before meeting Fiona. A green ogre makes a deal with a questionable person named Rumplestiltskin. Shrek enters an alternate reality where he doesn’t even know Fiona. Here is a completely different life, and now the ogre will have to do everything to return home.
The movie looked interesting and the atmosphere I mentioned above was there. In the sequel, all the favorite characters were again, and the writers worked for glory - it was really original. The reboot turned out well, and the cartoon succeeded. Together with Shrek, the viewer follows a strange, incomprehensible story in a strange, unknown world. Shreka, the audience is waiting for a lot of surprises. One new Fiona is worth it.
Shrek Forever is an American, family, adventure, comedy cartoon with a taste of fantasy and green fairy tale in 2010. The latest story about Shrek is funny, and the attention of those who love this character definitely deserves. I appreciate this cartoon positively, and still there may be more sequels about these already famous and funny characters. Thank you.
I didn’t appreciate everything until I lost it. (Shrack)
After the stunning success of the first two Shreks, the incomprehensible Shrek III came out. It seemed logical that the green ogre world had gone downhill. That's how it happened. And so, if you put the final chord of the entire franchise, it is only on a major note! "Shrack Forever" already by its name says that it will no longer be. Alas. Or maybe that’s a good thing?
But for now... the world of fairy tales has taken possession Rumplestiltskin. I don’t remember that character from Anderson. Or maybe he didn't. But here he just appears as an insidious genius and the main disturber of a quiet and measured life.
How is this part better than a triquel? Well, the director and writers changed. Now for production in the responsibility Mike Mitchell. And for writing – three at once: Josh Klausner, Darren Lemke and William Steig. And it's just a miracle that pull preferred from the original source. From the events of the very first part. By the way! In the prologue again returned the book of fairy tales!!!
According to the plot, it turns out that Harold and Lillian resorted to help - to save his daughter Fiona from evil spells - to the evil short magician Rumplestiltskin. At that time, he had a plan for Far Far Away. But at the same moment the news came: Fiona was rescued from the tower!!! This was our Shrek (even then, for Farquad). The contract was immediately terminated by the king, and Rumpeltiltskin went to the backyard. To live in defeat and infamy.
Our days. Shrek is going crazy day by day with his routine. But he’s a calm guy and quietly experiences it in himself. But at the birthday of their children (triplets turned one year old) breaks down on the roar! Here comes Rumplestiltskin and begins to pour oil and sing with a nightingale. He cunningly offers Shrek a contract that will save him a day from ubiquitous affairs and return him to his ogre life. And in exchange, Shrek must give him any day of his life. The green ogre is happy. But who would have thought it would be... the day Shrek was born! . .
And from now on, the green giant not only entered a world where he was feared, but no one knew him either. Neither Asshole, nor Cat, nor even Fiona!! And as cold water calms the understanding – this day will soon end, and the whole life for the ogre will end. This is what the metaphysical gnome Rumplestiltskin himself said at the meeting.
What I liked most: That, apparently, Shrek's friendship with the Donkey was a foregone conclusion. They are in a parallel reality, albeit not immediately, but became friends. The donkey even helps to find a loophole in the contract of Rumplestiltskin and Shrek! The cat will be a surprise! Uh-uh ... No boots. So fat. I was delighted to have a whole tribe of ogres! And Fiona's in a new guise. Their leader.
But the most posh idea of the writers, of course, it is himself Rumplestiltskin!! Despite his nature, he keeps his word. He has his own code of honor. There can be no dishonest game from Rumplestiltskin. That's his nature. He will play on the naiveté of his opponent and will achieve his goal by tricks rather than being caught in meanness. The protagonist will never get a knife in the back from this dwarf. This is evidenced by his victorious exclamation closer to the denouement: "I am still the smartest!" ... It is clear that he too is experiencing as if these contracts do not put a stick in the wheels.
But the way in the beginning, with the rendezvous of Shrek and Rumplestiltskin after the signing of the contract, in Tridevyat he told how he achieved the result ... Understand? The multi-pass combination worked. Perhaps the plan of his life! And that's why I put it in a separate paragraph.
I’m not going to go into the same thing again, telling you what we already know. Shrek will again try to win the heart of Fiona, again the Kingdom breathes on incense. As always. But with Rumplestiltskin. The most worthy and necessary villain! .
It is time to fanatize from this hero-villain. And so... It's traditional. Everything fits into the frame of the Shrek world. Famous works and legends are also parodied. (I immediately remember the scroll under the Trojan horse).
And that's where we come from. Tripped on the third part, Shrek rose from his knees and proudly raised his banner. The decision came from nowhere. As a joker from the sleeve appeared Rumplestiltskin and pulled the whole world out of this no longer Shrek swamp. And it was an amazing code.
On voiceover: Shrek — Mike Myers.Eddie Murphy is still in the role Asses. Cameron DiazFiona. Antonio BanderasCat And, of course, how can I forget! Rumplestiltskin voiced Walt Dorn.
Why can't I get the highest score? Because this part only seems powerful on the first view. Yeah, that happens. But it is. But it is worthy that the film was raised from the dead zone! But ... it's already squeezing ... As noted by professional critics, the quadriquel still did not catch up with the first two parts. They're right.
When the credits went, I had tears. There will be no more of this fabulous world...
Shrek is a great cartoon that made our childhood a little more fun. I remember that for me, as for everyone else, Shrek, along with Ice Age, was the most rusty and stubborn cartoon. I remember how everyone liked to repeat the sound of the Donkey that he made in the boat in the second part, as Shrek was quoted, and the sad look of the Cat is of course a meme for centuries. Shrek is one of the few cartoons that has managed to make toilet humor funny. I loved all three of Shrek’s parts, which were both funny and dramatic when needed. I was also waiting for the fourth part.
And frankly, the fourth part, not that bad, it's definitely lookable, but it's clearly not up to the previous ones. You see, "Shrek Forever" seems to be funny, there are jokes, but they are already all come to something, repeat. For example, the stupidity of the Donkey, which will not mix after three parts, and it is not that the Donkey is not funny or the jokes are stupid, no, it is just familiar and does not laugh. The same look of the Cat, which was in the previous parts, which pursued us on the Internet, again, he does not laugh, let him and does fat Cat, which, of course, was funny, I do not argue, although not for long, but it is not funny.
And in this part, the creators, more delved into some film about time travel. Who knows, but I didn't like that in this part Shrek solves the issues of moving between universes, what it takes to return to his dimension, escapes from Rumplestiltshin's castle. Just the previous cartoons were a kind of quest for Shrek: go there, bring a princess; go there, bring a spell; go there, save the kingdom. And this part, this whole first kiss thing, logical inconsistencies. I don't think that's good for Shrek.
In general, I think that “Shrack Forever” is a rather bland, not bad for humor, a worn cartoon. But, by no means, I’m not saying it’s bad, no, Shrek 4 is a pretty good cartoon, with an intrigued plot and unexpected twists and turns. And against the background of the rolling “Ice Age”, Shrek generally looks like a masterpiece. I hope the authors will not remove the fifth part, so as not to milk more giant and not roll it, and what leads to the fifth part we have already seen in the example of the new “Ice Age”.

All 750 billion fees to the creators brought a fat cat
Yes, the Shrek franchise has deflated so much that the third part has left no trace of the former uniqueness of the story about the evil green ogre and his friends. The third “Shrek” came out gray and dull cartoon, and from jokes and all at times sickened.
What about the fourth? There is a good basic idea here, but a completely failed implementation. The creators moved away from the witty first two parts and threw on the screen just a kind of “Lord of the Rings” or “Warcraft” in the animation. Just a normal brawl between the two sides (eagles and people), and not even remembered. In the second part, the storming of the fortress to the song “I need a hero” is cut into memory forever. There is not a single moment in the whole film.
The characters have outlived themselves. All except one, except one. A new wizard with a long name does not attract a drop to the main villain. Absolutely stereotypical "evil genius."
Why did I go to this cartoon? Only because of the fat cat. Yes, here's a hundred percent hit: a cat in boots drags the whole cartoon on itself. Well, it is impossible without a smile to watch how damn good this fluffy red-haired handsome, and even now so well-fed! If it were not for the cat, I think the cartoon would not have risen above the third Shrek.
That's what we get:
I want to dedicate this review to the entire series of cartoons - from beginning to end. I watched the first part at the age of 6-7, and since then every story about the adventures of the green ogre responds with warmth in my heart.
Shrek is a rough, uncouth, selfish and grouchy monster, Fiona is a princess with a “hard core”. Standard fairy tale - they fall in love, get married, have children. In each part, the love of these two is tested, but each time it wins - and there was no moment where I did not cry.
The fourth part shows us what happens to the characters after the word "End": a wife in business and motherhood, around - a crowd of friends acquired in adventures, sometimes annoying and not giving a minute of peace. The main character of the fairy tale lost his former enthusiasm - immersed in everyday life, he is depressed looking for a way to relax at least for a day. And this is a day for yourself. Here are just what consequences will the decision of Shrek, taken when signing a contract with the cunning Rumpelstitskin?
A fairy tale is a lie, and there is a hint in it: appreciate what you have before you lose it. In my opinion, a wonderful morality, especially in the modern world, where everyone chases the big, missing the small, but hidden.
A wonderful ending to a wonderful franchise. This cartoon shows the most beautiful love in the world: rude, but sincere, coming from the heart. There is no romance in it, but there is an immense concern for each other, an infinite need for a spouse.
Watch Shrek and show it to your kids - this cartoon is worth it.
How to put it, the fourth "Shrack" is not a new work at all. Just after the first successful and monumental two, the third came out different, and it seemed like she had taken two steps back. That is why I was in no hurry to get acquainted with the tape called Shrek Forever.
This part of quadrology did not reach the first two in my eyes, but surpassed the third! However, the creators have been harnessing for a very long time. I watched 2/3 of the movie with no emotions. It wasn't bad, it just seemed like some kind of squirrel. But the writers just created a real thriller!
Shrek was suddenly tired of family life and household life. Because everyone around him stopped taking him seriously. We are no longer afraid of the green giant, as before. The ogre breaks down to scream, then falls into the solitary company Rumplestiltskin (the name is so complex that, to be honest, I copied it, I can not print it). He was introduced to us in the prologue. A villain is cleverer than a snake. And Shrek gets trapped. I don’t think it makes any sense to say anything.
From now on, the life of Shrek and all his entourage changed as in The Butterfly Effect. Fate was rewritten as in Terminator: Genesis. Everyone is afraid of him, but nobody knows him. No Donkey, no Cat, no Fiona. Everything has changed, and this alternate reality is already very much like hell for the giant we love. At the same time, there was a serious interest in the picture. After all, Shrek has one day left to live, and only a kiss of love can lift the curse. We need to find Fiona, make her love him. But is it easy? . .
So we have a poster that says . The last chapter is . So this is the last part? If so, then this is the best end of the cycle!
But in my opinion, someone will come who wants to make money on Shrek’s name, and the franchise will resume.
The same part, as I said, is great. I recommend to those who did not like the third, and who believe that everything there collapsed in that fabulous marvelous world, forget the triquel and finish with this very picture your perception. I don't think you're going to be left behind...
This masterpiece from DreamWorks, after I watched it, I like even a little more than the same age as How to Train Your Dragon of the same year. This is my favorite part about Shrek. Why does this part have a lot of negative reviews? I'll tell you.
This is because there is almost no humor. Agree, it will be unusual to watch the new Shrek for those who loved the previous parts because of humor. If you like Shrek, like me, it's not the humor, it's the plot. While there were a lot of really witty jokes in 1-2 parts, there are only one, this is a new image of the cat. The rest are not very funny anymore.
Plot:
I wouldn't have thought of that in my life. Such a dramatic scenario (albeit a little drawn-out) ... I don't know what to say. Sometimes it felt like Pixar came up with this story (though it was impossible), because like all Pixar cartoons, I watched it without even thinking about what I wasn’t very interested in and what was boring. The ending finally instilled the idea that this is a real divine creation.
Graphics:
In How to Train the Dragon, I found the graphics a bit better. But the fact that all Shrek graphics are perfect is natural. I can’t imagine a modern cartoon from DreamWorks that won’t impress with its graphics.
Soundtrack:
The songs are very good. Better than in the third part, but do not reach the songs 1-2 parts. The musical accompaniment is so ideally suited to the course of events, to actions, that it becomes much sadder at heart, especially in the end.
Humor:
I told you about him. Of all the parts, this one has the least humor. Most likely, because the creators wanted to focus the viewer’s attention on the plot as much as possible.
In the finale, I’ll say that if you love Shrek just out of humor and expect an explosive comedy from Shrek Forever, don’t watch this movie. If you don’t want to leave the screen, that’s it. I list all the parts of Shrek from the best to the worst:
1. Shrek Forever
2. Shrek 2
3. Shrek
4. Shrek Third
Why is there such a big name for the fourth movie? Because Shrek has already become a classic, it is loved by both children and adults, and more than one generation will gladly watch it. Studio "DreamWorks" pleased the audience with the series of "Shrek" one after another, but the franchise did not slide into the unknown, unlike many Hollywood film series. After the third "Shrek" some still took on the bayonets, saying that this part is much stupider than the previous ones, the authors of the cartoon gave everything to the hundred, so that the fourth part was distinguished by something unusual, namely the non-standard plot and the genius of the idea for this plot. And while some might think Shrek Forever was less funny than the first trilogy, the ratings show that the fourth did outperform the third. Personally, all the parts received the highest score from me, but I note the third part as the most banal of all. When viewing the fourth part, I wanted to shout "genius!".
The idea of all parts of Shrek is to show the unseemly giant a positive hero capable of noble deeds. In the first part, he managed to save the princess from prison, after which she became his wife (taking on a similar appearance), and then he almost became king! But since his native swamp is sweeter than the kingdom, he decides to live with his family at home. If the first three parts are shot in the same vein, then something incredible awaits you here - this is a completely new story that will amaze you with its originality. The plot of this part is the most exciting twisted story from the field of the fantasy genre , only such fantasy is accessible to the smallest viewer. Absolutely unused story about the struggle between good and evil - both for children and adults. This part is more stored in memory than the second and third, because it is simply impossible to forget. And it does not matter that it may be inferior in the number of jokes to the first parts - the main thing that looks in one breath. Well, the meaning of is simple - value what you have, and do not trust mysterious strangers, especially when they offer such suspicious transactions. But if Shrek hadn't made a deal with a sorcerer, there wouldn't be a cartoon! So you will have to watch an hour and a half as the green giant does everything to correct his mistake, and it will be especially funny that he will have to prove to his family and friends that he is not their enemy, because in the reality he is in, they do not even know him! So, you already know that the plot of the fourth part is genius. Enjoy your visit.
I just got to the latest Shrek story. The story turned out to be some kind of socio-philosophical experiment in an animated format. Especially unusual is this innovation at DreamWorks studio. Impressions from the cartoon are not the collapse of inflated audience expectations, not a trivial cartoon about the wild adventures of the green giant. Or rather, this is still a cartoon about the wild adventures of a company of strange characters, but all the time this philosophical background and morality leaks out, which make you either wrinkle or cringe out of habit.
For me, to combine all this subtle psychic matter with the thick-skinned hero Shrek was quite difficult. But this does not mean that this subjective cognitive dissonance speaks of the totality of the cartoon. In fact, he is kind, funny and fascinating.
The main disadvantage of most modern films is that producers and directors do not know how to stop. Turn around, turn off the lights and leave at the peak of its popularity. While the audience still love you and do not have an abundance of criticism about senseless attempts to assert themselves again. It is the absence of this that destroys almost any modern franchise and that in a sense destroyed this film.
Logically, the franchise should have been completed in the trilogy, but in fact - much earlier. However, it is difficult to call this film directed by Mike Mitchell a definite failure. Since even with certain shortcomings, the film has its own definite and worthy of respect and the main advantage of the picture is the awareness of what work the creators of the franchise have done, what unique characters they have created and what army of fans they have got with their work.
It is this legacy that allows you to live all the adventures of the main characters again, but in a completely different way. As the past changes, and as we know from the “butterfly effect” to change even the smallest detail, a lot can change. Watching all this, you literally realize the basic morality of the picture. We should appreciate everything we have now until we lose it. There are moments that cannot be returned. Including people, whose absence in our lives is sometimes incredibly terrible and the most terrible is the realization that everything could have been completely different.
This realization comes to the beloved Shrek, but late and it is this that launches another chain of crazy adventures for him and his gang including a cat in boots and a donkey that falls on female dragons. The plot sometimes sags significantly and is deprived of the level of banter that was in the first two parts of the franchise, but it is a huge sympathy for the long-loved heroes that allows you to forgive even the far-fetched plot and the desire of the creators to milk a milking cow for the last time.
The animation of the picture is still magnificent and true to the previous parts, and the invariably star cast allows you to once again enjoy the familiar voices and beloved heroes. That’s just as in all the previous parts, where the main characters turned out to be secondary and Pryanya with Pinnokyo once again become the most charismatic heroes of the picture and worthy pull almost all the humor on themselves.

Shrek forever is not a necessary continuation of the animated franchise beloved by many, but certainly a gift opportunity to plunge into the last adventure together with the main characters who have long become very, very dear. The film is not as good as the first parts, but still decently holds the brand and perhaps even unlikely to disappoint fans of the series.
The animated film Shrek, released in 2001, marked the beginning of one of the most popular animation franchises. Elegant mix of classic European fairy tales, insisted on a modern slightly rough humor was a real breakthrough and simply could not remain without a continuation. The second part, although it did not repeat the success of the first, was still quite favorably received by both critics and the public. But it was clear that stomping on the spot for any series is unacceptable. In the third part, the creators tried to add poignancy, including jokes frankly on the verge of foul. The viewer did not fully appreciate this kind of development, so the fourth part was supposed to be a kind of rehabilitation for the previous failure.
On the one hand, it seems clear that it is unlikely that this would have turned out to be something bad, since it is difficult to remove a great tastelessness, and already in the charisma of the characters there is a certain level for the whole series, but on the other hand it was necessary not only to retain loyal fans, but also to attract a new audience, not all the same created solely for the sake of the idea. In this regard, we can assume that with his task “Shrack forever” coped with a solid four.
The disadvantage of the picture is clear: all the same characters, the same humor, all the same chips. Rumplestiltskin as the main villain looks somewhat flawed. Of course, he is nervous, screaming, swearing, suffering from sharp mood swings and generally has all the signs of a form mentally ill psychopath. He is trying to show us with all his might that this is exactly the madness that borders on genius, but its constant miscalculations and mistakes repeatedly demonstrate back. It is unclear how he maintained his dictatorial power for so long. The script is generally somewhat gaggy: in the dry remnant, we have a very edible romantic plot with a paraphrase of the film “This wonderful life”, on which everything that happens on the screen is carelessly strung. I do not know where we got a whole army of ogres, which three parts did not manifest themselves in any way, and only constant persecution on them made them feel. Against this background, we are clearly given to understand that Shrek is exceptional, he alone can devastate villages and overthrow monarchs, all this underground army did was wait for him all these years of repression, to easily and easily deal with Rumplestiltskin and his witch pack with his strength and intelligence. Love, which was born long and painful in the first part, appears here as if by the wave of a magic wand. And now time is running out, the last petal of the rose falls, the beauty gives a kiss of love to the monster and everything returns to normal. Separately, I would like to note the Hameln rat-catcher, a character of one of the darkest German legends, who occupies a very unenviable position of a bounty hunter with his weapons of mass destruction, capable of stopping entire armies, although possessing a certain selectivity and narrow focus.
But if you don’t get bored a lot, then the movie definitely won’t get bored. Donkey and pretty fat Cat still alone can tear up the most bored audience, all other characters regularly give out one or two successful jokes, and the morality of this fable, the story itself is instructive and beautiful. After all, given that the target audience of most animated creations is children, there should hardly be any complaints about Shrek Forever.
I take this opportunity to embrace the entire Shrek universe. You can talk about each part separately, but the whole picture of what is happening can only be seen by thinking about all the films at once. I think Shrek is one of the greatest animations of all time. Why? Let me tell you something.
To appreciate the depth and seriousness of what is happening in the films about the giant “Shrek”, let’s remember how such stories usually ended. Remember? “And they lived happily ever after.” They died in the same day. Shrek warns us that killing the monster, saving the princess and marrying her is just the beginning of the story. And here is the story of family life, domestic difficulties and ways out of them are told by the main characters of the film: Fiona, Shrek, Donkey and Cat. I haven’t seen another movie or cartoon in which I could observe the true and real development of the main character’s family: wedding, quarrels, children, joy, loss – all this and more can be found in Shrek.
I have no complaints about the characters in Shrek, because although they are animals, their characters are real, human. I won't believe you don't have a good friend like a donkey? Or a brave heartthrob like a cat in boots? Don't you sometimes act like a green ogre? In all parts of Shrek, I wanted to empathize with the characters of the film, because they were able to immediately become almost native.
In every part of the story, the Shrek saga, we can see the strict construction of the plot: some problem, the wrong way out of it, the consequence, the right way out. You look at all the parts of Shrek, and you'll agree with me right away. Everything that happens is accompanied by kind, good humor, understandable to both children and adults.
The company "Dream works" once again pleased me with excellent animation graphics, interesting angles. In each new episode, you can consider new, interesting plans, tricks, angles. Special attention should be paid to the music, which, like nothing else in the film, will come to the ongoing magic or sets a frantic rhythm to the action.
In conclusion, I want to say that I am very grateful to all the authors of this film for their excellent work. In 2001, the year the first movie came out, I went to first grade, so much happened. From then on, and for the rest of my life, Shrek will be an important part of my life as a fairy tale with a great ending. Many in our country criticize this masterpiece, and I want to suggest that they do something better than Shrek.

I don't care if you're so sad. Why are you so sad?
Where are you in a hurry?
- Nowhere.
- What a coincidence, I'm going there too.
Shrek Forever is the final chapter of the best animated film to date. The fourth part of this amazing cartoon is very correctly titled, it is "forever" such characters as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Cat in Boots and everything, everything, everything, will remain in our hearts. This cartoon gave us extremely pleasant emotions, a lot of humor, and sometimes even taught something. "Shrek" - this is not an ordinary cartoon - this is an original idea of the whole quadrology, where humor was always on top. Director Mike Mitchell, I think, managed to send Shrek and all his friends to the final happy pages of the whole fairy tale. I am sure that I will review the entire quadrology of this terrible, green, funny cannibal many times.
Film critics of different countries in their reviews agreed that Shrek Forever is a great cartoon, but its plot is as boring as the jokes themselves filling this part. Personally, I lean to the opinion of these reviewers not because they are experienced guys and aunts who know what they say, but everything is very simple, I also found the fourth part a little boring, and you really can not even remember good jokes. The beginning of the cartoon already lets you know that this is a completely different Shrek, that the former fun adventures do not need to wait. And so it happened, I looked at that Shrek, at the same characters that I knew very well, but I didn’t feel their former enthusiasm, their previous manner of behavior, all this disappeared somewhere. And by the way, this part, probably compared to the previous, the saddest. For all of us, Shrek is an uplifting cartoon with its unforgettable humor, but here I find it hard to say that I smiled a lot. Of course there were moments, but since Shrek had made me laugh before, that effect wasn't even close. I am not saying that I am disappointed with this part, on the contrary, I really liked it, but a lot was not the way I remember it.
It was very hard to know that I was watching the latest adventures of this hero. The plot looks like this. Shrek and his family returned to live in their beloved swamp. But when he comes back, he always feels like he's not at home. Life has changed a lot. On the one hand, he is very glad that he lost his loneliness. He has a whole bunch of small forever pooping and screaming cannibals, whom he loves very much, as well as his beloved wife Fiona, in principle, such happiness can only be dreamed of. But on the other hand, Shrek recalls with nostalgia those very times, full of adventure, carrying a kind of romance of adventure, dangers and surprises. To get a taste of the old life again, the adventure-hungry father Shrek signs a contract with the loser magician Rumplestiltskin. The contract stipulates that Shrek can live for himself for one day, but in exchange, Rumplestiltskin takes any day from Shrek’s life.
Shrek is happy running through the woods, scares people, remembers the old days, but then learns that in fact he does not exist, because the scoundrel Rumplestiltskin took Shrek’s birthday. Shrek has to re-acquaint himself with his wife, who in this life is not a pretty princess, but the leader of ogres. Also, the writers did not forget about such key characters as the Donkey and the Cat in Boots. To get everything back to its place and at the same time get even with Rumplestiltskin, who rules the “Far Far Kingdom”, Shrek needs the support of his wife Fiona and old friends. The fourth film is as awesome as the previous ones. It has all the important elements that were present in the first, second and third cartoons. Mike Mitchell created a wonderful final part, and thereby put a bold end to the history of this magnificent animated cartoon. To sum up, there is no favorite part, the whole series of cartoons about Shrek is for me a great masterpiece.
The first part of Shrek turned out to be quite interesting - a full, interesting plot, good music, and most importantly - it is built on the fundamentals, perhaps at the moment - beaten, but the picture as a whole is pleasing.
The second part was better than the first. The script does not let you get bored, new characters appear, and during the film we get to know them - we are given the opportunity to understand the characters, which is very important. And soundtracks are the best. The result is 10 points.
The third Shrek is an opinion about him ... twofold. To begin with, other people were working with the third Shrek, and no one knew how to react to it. But after seeing this part, most people have a negative opinion. And it's not hard to say why. First, the stretched plot and template characters (and in this part, the writers decided to cram a lot of heroes and heroines – princesses – who smeared a weak plot with flat jokes) – this is a huge and risky step, sharp and unnecessary. Compared to Shrek’s first two films (which made it clear that it was a fairy tale), the third was a good movie. A movie, not a fairy tale. If in Shrek-2 the plot was like oil, that is, we were not bored, then the next picture mixed almost all genres, in some scenes you could fall asleep, in some vice versa. From the hill to the hill – I would say so.
In the fourth part, a healthy plot was conceived, truly healthy, original and interesting. Returning to the castle, to the old monster, is an alternative version of the first movie (in a sense). The image of the main villain, in my opinion, is excellent. A great story is certainly a good thing, but to implement it on the screen, you had to work. The writers worked, but did not work. They failed to realize what they intended. Maybe they think the opposite, but you can’t fool the audience. In the fourth film, in connection with the selected plot of the writers, it was possible to come up with so much that there would be no “The Last Chapter” there. It seems that Shrek was forever released under a stupid stamp. To be honest, I fell asleep on the movie. And if they worked through that part, we could see the fifth Shrek. You can't say that Shrek has exhausted himself. It would have been impossible for Mitchell to make the fourth film a masterpiece. So, yes, Shrek has really exhausted himself.
The first and second Shrek are on top.
The third and fourth are not the same.
Shrek's assessment Forever
Shrek is tired of everyday family life. To feel like a real ogre again, he enters into a contract with Rumpelstitsken. But the insidious Rumpel deceives him and, in exchange for a day of life, takes away his birthday. Now no one knows him, the kingdom is broken, and Fiona has never been rescued from the castle.
I didn't expect Shrek forever. I thought the movie would show the same thing again. I was surprised when the creators made an interesting idea. They almost rebooted the whole story. Getting to know everyone again, falling in love with Fiona – all this makes the plot in the fourth Shrek very interesting. The creators added romance, made even in some moments better than in the first part. And Shrek's last sentence, about who saved whom, could throw you into tears. The humor in the film got much better. The cartoon got rid of vulgar humor and approached normal and really funny humor. The characters have changed a little too. For example, a fat cat looks really cute. Fiona became a warrior and a formidable woman. The villain Rumpel really liked his wigs, changing depending on the situation. The music remained just as good. I really liked the “I am believer” at the end. There is a very good idea in the cartoon - appreciate your life, especially when it has developed.
Verdict: I really, really hope this is the last part of Shrek. Because if that's the case, we have a beautiful ending to the story.
Speaking about the heroes, I can note that here, of course, all the friends we know appeared in a slightly different light, but this is the point, because the whole world has turned over, and there is no good Theona, no cheerful ass (although his talkativeness is still increased, it can be seen that nothing can be cured). But the cat pleased me the most, and I was fond of him, and at the same time laughed at every appearance on the screen. You can watch the movie for him alone! But humor, as it seemed to me, has become less than in the previous parts, but let’s not forget, “Shrek Forever” is designed not only to entertain us, but also to teach, so it is quite natural. In general, from watching the cartoon there were positive impressions - a kind, sweet fairy tale. 7 out of 10 Original
Wisher The fourth chapter of the adventures of the green ogre and his friends is the course of the script when the prequel does not make sense to shoot, and the sequel will look too sucked out of the finger. Already in the third film, the giant has lived a family life, found happiness and had children, similarly settled and other main characters, perhaps only with rare exceptions, and in order to leave new adventures in the same time frame, but at the same time make a whole story – the authors decided to use an approach to alternative reality. According to the laws of such sequels, in the center and climax must lie some small detail, missed at the very beginning of the franchise. So it is, it turns out, for the lack of princes, Fiona's parents almost turned to the villain Rumplestiltskin, and he is an evil dwarf and concurrently the fulfiller of wishes, dreams of power in every possible way to this day. And then he comes across infuriated by the hardships of family life Shrek with one single wish - to return everything back, as it was before - in those days when he was an evil ogre in the swamp, whom everyone feared. Such is the plot, and if the first third of the cartoon does not leave doubt that the amount of dirt and vulgarity issued on the screen has already exceeded all possible limits, then you can calm down and laugh plenty. Because in terms of humor, the cartoon was generally successful, and those many good moments are really incredibly funny. Among them, I want to especially highlight all the scenes of the Cat in boots, since he is here almost the main feature of the entire narrative, and for the sake of him it is definitely worth going and watching this cartoon. First of all, this is not a fairy tale, but a comedy. You have to understand that when you come into the room. Beautiful stories will be told without Shrek, and here the banter over the fairy-tale world is being raised into a cult, and the immorality of the boundaries of the permissible PG rating tries to look as funny as possible. The final guilty pleasure is the whole "Shrek", for which fans of this cartoon franchise actually love it, and their sympathy can be shared, and you can also grumble that "in our time in cartoons this was unacceptable!" Such scandal is simply an occasion for discussions and discussions for the benefit of the PR of the film, rather than a serious analysis and collective indignation of the lack of decency. It's funny - and it's laughed at, which for comedy is the most important element. The question is only in the sense of humor of the audience. Dramatically rolling through fairy tales, you will not do, of course, without a bunch of movie quotes that can surprise and please, look organic and appropriate, and most importantly - recognizable, even if the scene you see in your head is not the name of the film, but the elementary "somewhere I have already seen it." The whole alternative story, which includes Fiona - the leader of ogres, a donkey in the service of witches, a fat cat-fluffy and a carrot-gladiator, is built interestingly and is able to capture the viewer for the duration of the viewing. Shrek’s fourth adventure looks more holistic and interesting than some of the previous ones, and colorful characters every minute try to burn off some joke of different levels, turning the plot into a marathon of jokes. To all who love the franchise, the fourth part is obliged to deliver a sea of pleasure and meet the expectations. The cartoon is funny, funny, quite bright and spectacular looking due to the beautiful 3D, where even the appearance of the characters still looks like plastic wax sculptures, but the diverse action, regular flights and numerous games with the hall from jumping sparks to the protruding head of the main villain are breathtaking and cause real delight! Comic spectacle, captivating in your world for the time of viewing, and ready to leave a pleasant aftertaste and positive impressions. 7 out of 10 Original
