“Thank you for not loving me. Thank you for not marrying me. Thank you for everything. I watch Indian cinema more and more, and I become more and more attached to it. The cinema of India has undergone, of course, great changes, but not global ones, for traditions, culture, values, unique charm and mystery are still preserved, which form a strong and reliable foundation that has been formed for decades.
The plot of Salam Namaste tells about two young people who live in a foreign country, far from their homeland, and each of them has their own reasons for this. They are free, have their own plans for the future, but none of them had plans for love, because love does not ask if it can come, it just comes, and then everything changes - now right seems wrong and wrong is right. Sometimes love makes people do incomprehensible, absurd things.
The beginning of the plot is very banal, a guy and a girl, not knowing that they know each other, meet and fall in love at first sight. There are still a lot of doubts, like, and love is, or not love, but we know for sure that, of course, love, but the guy comes to mind to “live together”, but the truth is in different rooms, to which the girl does not without doubt agree.
Then there is love-carrots and everything. But the "mix" begins when Ambar informs Nikhil that she is pregnant, and from that moment their lives change, there is no more joy, understanding, songs and dances, there is only continuous disappointment in life, in each other. It is time to choose between love and self-love, it is time to sacrifice your ambitions, aspirations and desires, it is time to choose between life and death, because abortion is murder.
In the second half of the film, the image of each hero is clearly drawn, here it becomes clear who is who. Passions are tense, nerves are tense. Sometimes it seems that there is no light, there is no way out, there is no love, there is no pity and there is nothing but difficulties, loneliness and fear of the future.
Personally, I thought the movie was kind of cruel. I cannot understand Nikhil's indifference to his barn, which is in such a position. Indifference to their future child. Indifference to love. But glory to Krishna, everything ends well, the main character realizes his mistakes and makes the right decision, takes responsibility for himself and for those whom he loves, and this is really not easy.
The film is symbolic for India, because now Indian youth are “modernizing”, especially in large cities (Delhi, Mumbai), many migrate to another country, English is used more often, traditions are forgotten, values are changing. Young people want freedom from obligations and responsibilities, which can sometimes lead to such situations.
In general, it was interesting to watch, the actors are wonderful - no complaints. There is only one thing left to say to Salam Namaste and "Thank you for everything..."
