One of the most unusual films I've ever seen. Almost everything is unusual. Starting with the story and ending with humor. I just don't understand why the movie failed at the box office. Edgar Wright created a real masterpiece in the genre of action comedy. And the genre of melodrama with elements of fantasy can also be added here. And the director managed to combine all these genres successfully.
Everything looks very cheerful and dynamic. The audience just has no time to take a breath. There is always something interesting happening on the screen. One scene is quickly replaced by another. Because of this manner of shooting, a lot of interesting things happen. The pace of events does not sag almost the whole picture. All this thanks to the director and camera work, as well as editing. All these parameters are at the same high level.
Characters joke almost constantly. This applies to both textual humor and visual comedy moments. The comedy component is one of the main advantages. One humorous moment follows another. All this action is very fast.
The characters are very bright. This applies to the main characters and those with small roles. The actors play great. The chemistry between Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is felt. The former Ramonas look very impressive. These are quite a variety of characters, each of which is cool in its own way.
The fights between Scott and Ramona’s ex-boyfriends are quite spectacularly filmed. Each battle is different from the other. Of course, there was no humor in these scenes. As one of Chris Evans' exes. I am always happy with this actor.
Edgar Wright managed to shoot an extraordinary picture. It conveys to the viewer a very simple idea that love must be fought for. There is very little seriousness in the film. And that's good. If it were otherwise, it is not known how this would affect the perception of what was seen. But the result was an explosive comedy, the main theme of which is romantic relationships.

Get the girl. Defeat her seven evil exes. Kick love's ass.
I would like to start with the fact that this unusual picture would never have attracted my attention and would not have been viewed if my friend had not found it, and we would not sit down to watch together. To be honest, I didn’t expect too much from the movie. From everything I saw, I thought that this was another romantic passerby, during which I want to tear my eyes out of boredom. As a result, I was pleasantly surprised by the film and realized that my expectations were too low.
The film itself is an extraordinary romantic combat comedy filled with frankly stupid jokes that immerses you in the atmosphere of frivolity of what is happening from the first minutes. This mood of the film successfully maintained to the end and did not strain me, as a viewer, the scyring romantic line. It is clear that this film aims to leave behind an easy and positive impression.
The film is shot at a very high level, especially for 2010, and has its own unique and incredibly cool style, which is especially evident in fights. There were many moments when it was impossible to take your eyes off, because everything was done really cool and funny.
As far as I understand, there is also a comic book, but I am not going to read it, and it is not necessary to make an impression of the film. As for the cast, everyone played at the level, but separately you can highlight Chris Evans, who played one of the former. His image turned out to be one of the funniest. In general, the film neatly mocks a lot of clichés, while not much burdening the viewer, which can also be distinguished as one of the advantages. The musical component is also at a good level, maintains the atmosphere and does not get out of tune.
In conclusion, Scott Pilgrim vs. All is a great movie for the evening, if you don’t want to load up and just laugh with a funny, maybe a little silly comedy. The film does not claim to be a masterpiece of world cinema, but simply gives the viewer a charge of positive energy. As a person who is not tempted by the genres of comedy and romance, I liked the film.
This is the most unusual movie I've seen lately. The combination of comics, computer games and teenage comedy was amazing.
When watching this tape, I was first captured by a scene with a screensaver and opening credits, going parallel to the song of the rock band, which consists of the main character - Scott Pilgrim. The song is driving, powerful, setting a certain rhythm from the first minutes of the picture.
The movie is filled with a lot of jokes, sarcasm, ridicule, many of which will not please some viewers, as they are either too stupid, or the viewer simply will not understand all the irony and ridicule of stereotypes, problems of teenagers, gifts of fate.
The picture is bright, stylized, with inscriptions appearing, pictures, as in comics and video games, which looks fun and cheerful, especially in combat scenes.
The meaning of “Scott Pilgrim” is quite simple, but due to the absurdity of what is happening on the screen, the film feels like another American stupid youth comedy with jokes below the belt. "Scott Pilgrim" tells us about love, about the difficulties of life, about adolescent problems, about growing up. Everyone in life has to struggle with difficulties, sacrificing something to achieve a goal. Sometimes it is difficult, sometimes it is easy, but in any case life to present a gift at any time and knock down, so you should not relax and be ready to respond to the threat and cope with it.

The very picture that perfectly maintains the balance is on the verge of “Masterpiece – failure”. If you are looking for a high-intelligent load, you have little chance of finding it here. But if your goal is to relax under - literally the best comedy that doesn't poke it in your face, unlike fellow genrers, which is possible thanks to the style of the comic, you'll definitely like it. Romance is not fundamental, but nevertheless, because of the visual and lack of idealization - leaves satisfied.
The music is super, the atmosphere of grunge is perfectly conveyed. The song “I am so sad, I am very sad” is a masterpiece!
Everything from presentation to humor retains an atmosphere that will appeal especially to teenagers and fans of rock.
Scott's original phrases do not leave indifferent. They sound ridiculous, and at the same time very vivid! In general, when viewing the picture, it feels as if this story happened to you, despite all the comic and simply impossible events in our realities. I think this is achieved by the reaction of the characters to these moments, as well as understanding their audience and love for their style.
Ramona Flowers isn't the perfect girl you'd fall in love with. I think how good she is you will understand, when she first appears and together with Scott you will recognize her shortcomings and it is likely that her 7 angry exes are not her main problem.
Alison Pill is the one I would like to celebrate as an actor. The image of an unsociable, but so exciting, grunge girl was perfectly played in her performance.
Suddenly, the film becomes one of my favorites in general and the best in the genre of comedy in my opinion.

“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” is a modern classic film that bursts audience expectations with its original approach and stunning energy. Director Edgar Wright took the comic book Brian Lee O'Malley and created a frenzied mix of genres, including romantic comedy, action and fantasy. The plot of the film describes the life of Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), a humble musician who falls in love with a girl Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), but is forced to defeat her seven ex-girlfriends to win her heart. Against this background, the film explores themes of love, jealousy, acceptance of one’s destiny and self-esteem. The cast of the film is great. Michael Cera is a great fit for the role of Scott, he genuinely conveys his awkwardness and self-doubt. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is beautiful in the role of the mysterious Ramona, and Anna Kendrick and Chris Evans also give stunning performances in their roles. Edgar Wright's directing work is commendable. He created a stunningly stylish and colorful world in which each scene is imbued with unique energy and humor. Editing, cinematography and special effects are also of a high level, and they are combined into one whole, creating a wonderful audience experience. However, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is not a movie for everyone. His eccentric style may not appeal to some viewers, and sometimes his jokes may seem too childish. But, in general, it is a stunning film that causes the viewer a lot of emotions, ranging from fun and ending with romance and battle scenes.
Maybe I watched it in the wrong time, late or whatever, but there’s something wrong with this movie. A big budget is felt, but everything somehow loose and crumbly turned out. There are funny moments, but they work differently. There are a lot of unnecessary and drawn-out scenes. Poorly sewn eclectic is shorter. As a result, just one of the comedies about the relationship with a strange morality at the end (it does not matter in the theatrical or directorial version of the ending).
I saw this picture relatively recently, and I liked it on the first view.
The first thing that catches the eye is the dynamic style of storytelling, inspired by the comic book, which underlies this masterpiece. Also striking in the film are the visuals: they are here on top. Everything seems like a comic book.
And at the time of the plot, many people are "clinic". Really, some bullshit begins, nothing is clear, just thrash. But it's only at first sight. That, in my opinion, is the genius of Edgar Wright! You need to look at this film from a different angle and everything, absolutely everything will make sense.
This “corner” is set by the character, the main character, Scott himself. He's a young man with a lot of energy in his blood. The film reflects his vision of the real world. The whole film is a metaphor for how the world is seen by teenagers/young people. Hence the dynamics of the narrative, and the strange “artificial” world with its own laws and rules.
Heroes are collective images of people who can meet a person at this age. That's why everything looks so pretentious and bright. The seven evil exes and their abilities are also metaphors. Through metaphors, the main character is revealed: her weakness is shown: she does not know how to solve problems, she just runs away from them.
In general, this film can be interpreted for a very long time, but the main thing is the world through the eyes of young people: with their own cockroaches, problems and so on.
Maybe it's so obvious to me because I'm a young person myself and I know it, but I think what I've written is pretty obvious.
It is difficult to create a large-scale multiplayer online game that would have liked players for many years. It is even more difficult to make a film about games that would consider cool not only people who in their lives played maximum solitaire scarf, three in a row and find a cat.
The main character is a nerd from nerds, a clichéd character and the appearance of the actor is suitable. Immediately went sewn propaganda: the girl is necessarily Chinese (interracial), the roommate is gay. It's a 2010 movie. Everyone reproaches Scott that he is dating a schoolgirl, and in appearance actor Michael Cera in 2010 more than 17 years and will not give (in the film he is 22). However, dating a girl 5 years younger is bad, and this idea is muzzled about twenty minutes. What's next? And then Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who at the time of filming is 26. Well, she looks twenty-six. But next to the main character there is a dissonance in age, but nobody pays attention to this in the film. Anna Kendrick is an incredibly familiar actress (playing Scott’s sister), but I can’t remember what series I could see her in (the recent film “Distant Space” and “Twilight” does not count). The Mandela effect, not otherwise.
Canadian actress of Chinese origin Ellen Wong played the best – lively facial expressions, fresh and vivid emotions (although at times she also replayed the manner of Chinese comedies with Jackie Chan). But she was 25 at the time of filming (plays a seventeen-year-old schoolgirl). By the way, it was she who for these 12 years did not appear anywhere else (unlike other actors).
The first half-hour was still possible to watch, and then the plot turned into a predictable gum about... hmm... “games”. I didn’t like this movie a long time ago, so I decided to review it... but not because I wanted to. It's just to record that they haven't learned how to make norms, movies about players and games. Here a mix of “love” relationships and casual gaming is unclear. The film does not look natural, after the first quarter begins some fierce thrash. As a result, there was no film about the relationship of teenagers and even more insignificant film about games.

I saw this movie for the first time today. I regret that only in 2022 I paid attention to this plague movie, but better late than never.
Now they really do not shoot this way, since here the whole film is a continuous attraction of fun, romance, laughter, excitement and great mood. There are so many quotes that you wonder how it is possible. Nothing is impossible.
When the movie first came out in 2010, I thought it was just an average movie about a guy trying to grab a girl’s attention, but it’s deeper than I thought. This is more than a comic book, more than a computer game - this is a real attraction of happiness after which a smile does not come off your face for a long time, you scroll through the moments in your head and do not understand how it was so cool to shoot a seemingly banal story, and it turns out that nothing is impossible.
Despite the fact that the events occur around the main character in the film a lot of interesting secondary characters, and even episodic roles turned out to be great, I can also say about the musical accompaniment, it is also memorable.
I would call the ending very touching and romantic. This is the peculiarity of the film, since despite all the fun of this killer picture, there are also melodramatic moments, and the finale turned out to be so touching that many melodramas rest.
Edgar Wright made a very funny and exciting movie, where each frame is special, where there is a lot of humor, fun, funny quotes, the film is able to melt the heart of the most principled viewer. I think that’s exactly what it is.
Michael Sera, Scott Pilgrim at first seemed a very nice boy and nothing more, but once he met Ramona as everything changes in his life, I really liked how he grew up throughout the film he himself, as an ordinary boy he becomes a man who fights for his love. All of these battles with the Evil Exes have been to my liking. But his love for Ramona and their footage, where it snows around, and the door next to me is very romantic and pleasant. It's a pleasure to watch. Their relationship was very difficult, but they quickly fell in love, despite all the quotes, laughter and a lot of fun, but I liked the love moments the most.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, she has a lot of interesting work, but the role of Ramona for me especially opened it, the whole film was interesting to watch her character, and what they had to go through with Scott. It was great.
Ellen Wong, most of the film Knives seems a very nice and simple girl who naively loves Scott, but in the end she managed to please and action moments.
Chris Evans, Chris has a small role, but it is memorable, he brought a lot of problems to Scott, in good physical shape. Captain America is not to be recognized here. As a movie star, he was beyond praise. It is a pity that the role is small, but he coped with it perfectly.
Scott Pilgrim vs. Everyone is a great film that will always be relevant. The film, which is not a pity to spend about 2 hours, it is worth it. The attraction of real happiness for a moviegoer, where there is absolutely everything you need, namely love themes, a lot of action, a huge number of funny quotes, a lot of fun and drive, even melodramatic moments, the director managed to shoot very cool and touching. That's not how they shoot it now. ..
A little more than a comic book. A little less than the movie.
Scott Pilgrim vs. All is a bright, unusual cocktail - a mixture of comic-source, unusual director Edgar Wright, verified style and quality indie rock. And at the same time, without exaggeration, it's the best piece I've ever seen. What makes him so great?
A bright, original, extremely comic picture of the film, with pop-up words, screams, transitions of scenes, literally making the film like a comic book? Sound, where music is almost as much a narrative element as dialogue? Or just the last, written with this, somewhat difficult for the average viewer British humor, sparkling, really unusual and interesting? Maybe it's about picking an almost perfect cast? Adaptations of the script that managed to fit the original source in the timing of the picture? What is the devil of detail?
Original source. Shakespeare himself constantly talked about love, and this is one of the burning themes of each of us, because everyone, one way or another, faced it. And they all have their stories, their footprints, their memories, their moments, their aspirations, their baggage of the past. And the comic book source is the author's statement, a cry about the sore, in which so much soul was invested that the story simply oozes. This is a personal experience that cannot but reach its reader, it makes the original source - the comic book popular.
And Edgar Wright just, as inherent in genius, managed to hook this primary source, grab his picture, transfer. And with his inherent genius, add a little bit of his style to it, make the story look like him. And it doesn't make the story better or worse, it only changes it a little.
In any case, the source shows us modern love, its relationship, how it has remained unchanged since Shakespeare, but at the same time changes in tribute to modern realities. You can see yourself in the character of Scott or Ramona Flowers, in a dozen or two bright characters, because the story, despite its comic nature and brightness, is so close to each of us in one way or another. After all, who is closer to us than those or other forms of torment because of love, whether it is undivided or what?
After all, the problem of the film is the same as that of any Edgar Wright film - it is not for everyone, because it is demanding. She has her own rhythm, her own pitch, her own manner, her own style. It is not ordinary, not Hollywood format, in its own smart and best perceived in the original language.
And this film is the best that is on the expanses of any film house, the best of everything I have seen, because it responds to more than anything in the soul. Do I recommend it to everyone to watch? Oh, yes, of course. Would you like this movie specifically? Who knows?
In order to intrigue the readership with a graphic novel, the authors must first come up with a really fascinating and preferably relevant story, in the bowels of which there will be extraordinary characters capable of serious deeds. Publishers such as Marvel and DC from the very beginning of their existence decided to focus on large-scale, global projects with invincible characters that almost one left can defeat an entire army. And this creative approach has led to worthy results, since in fact there is not a single person on the planet who does not know who Superman, Batman, Thor or Captain America are. However, to succeed in the field of comics and at the same time to have an army of loyal fans, sometimes it is not necessary to create characters who are able to rotate the Earth in the other direction or throw lasers from the eyes. Of course, readers like to explore such stories and imagine themselves in the place of super-people, but no less attention to the audience is also caused by comics about the most ordinary, simple guys who by chance find themselves in a serious alteration and accumulate all their hidden abilities, just to overcome obsessive troubles. Such stories are fascinating because absolutely any person will be able to associate himself with this or that hero, who is not perfect, and therefore interesting. Therefore, when illustrator Brian Lee O’Malley decided to quit working on other people’s stories and began to think through his own graphic novel, the first thing he focused on the image of an ordinary boy who had to accomplish many feats on the way to the heart of his beloved. When the first volume of Scott Pilgrim appeared on the shelves of bookstores, which was immediately swept off the shelves by young readers, O’Malley realized that he had done everything right, abandoning incredible epic stories with new Gods at the head. At the same time, Scott Pilgrim interested not only the ordinary readership, but also Hollywood producers who hastily bought the rights to the film adaptation, which followed on the screens 6 years after the debut publication of the comic book.
So, the plot of the film, titled “Scott Pilgrim Against All”, introduces us to Scott himself (Michael Cera), the bass guitarist of the rock band Sex Bob-Omb from Toronto. Like all the guys of his generation, Scott is not averse in his spare time to play video games, hang out in a bar or walk with his girlfriend. Nothing unusual or strange in the typical behavior of Scott is not observed, but one day he catches the eye of the incredible Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a courier from Amazon, and the guy completely loses peace. Scott understands that he has no right to miss his chance and must do everything to ensure that the beauty was near him. And first, our hero decides to part with his ex, who has long been tired of him, and kind of after that the path to winning the heart of Ramona will be completely open, but everything in fact is not so simple. The problem is that Ramona had as many as seven exes who, despite the breakup, are not so easy to beat. Everyone considers it their duty to defend their positions and give battle to the hated opponent, but Scott Pilgrim himself is not going to stand by silently. He understands that this is his decisive battle, which must be won in any case, while continuing his musical career and trying to maintain friendly relations with his bandmates. As you can see, the guy will have a lot of problems, but it is more interesting to follow what he will do.
The beauty of Brian Lee O’Malley’s comic was that he told us the story of the most ordinary guy, but at the key moments of the action, the story was strikingly transformed and represented a unique wondrous world with bright colors, hypertrophied images and unexpected plot twists. Essentially, O'Malley illustrated the extended facets of teenage fantasy that we all know, because we all sometimes imagine things that aren't around us. And since the original comic had its own extraordinary style, it was extremely important that the film adaptation of it to the full extent. Previously, only Robert Rodriguez could boast of such a feat, who put his epochal "Sin City" in exact accordance with the original source, and just the same was sought by both producers and O'Malley from the full-length "Scott Pilgrim". And, fortunately, the project was seriously interested in Edgar Wright, at that time already shot “Zombie named Sean” and “Type of tough cops”. The opportunity to work on O’Malley’s creation aroused Wright’s interest due to a variety of reasons, one of which was the prospect of working on someone else’s story, competently transforming it and revealing it to a wide range of viewers. And Wright did everything necessary to ensure that his film was the exact heir to the original, not violating its canons and delicately exploring the story of O’Malley in a direction that the author himself has not yet had time to go.
One of the key factors in the widespread success of the film adaptation of Edgar Wright was the incredible visual style of production, which resembles a lively comic book rather than a traditional film. Beginning with the screensaver, which brings us to the main story, it becomes clear that we have the work of a master who respects the work of others and tries to convey the entire atmosphere of the source as accurately as possible. “Scott Pilgrim vs. All” looks like a video game mixed with graphic novels, and Edgar Wright tries to follow the chosen tone of his work to the very end. Each round of confrontation between the main character and his opponents looks deliberately caricatured and incredibly colorful. Here you should not expect academic seriousness, because the authors of both the comic book and the film primarily appeal to young audiences, as well as viewers who are not alien to new-fangled trends. So while watching the film, you should prepare for the charming visual absurdity, bold dialogue and general madness, which, thanks to the talent of Edgar Wright, does not turn into something repulsive, but on the contrary, causes even more attention to what is happening on the screen.
In the end, I want to say that Scott Pilgrim vs. All was worthy of his graphic predecessor, and Edgar Wright once again proved to the world that he is actually an extraordinary director with his own directorial style and the ability to gallantly deal not only with his personal fantasies, but also with other people’s material. So prepare for a real battle for the heart of the girl of dreams, and may the strongest win.

Have you ever had to fight your other half? I think some people have had similar stories, but what if I asked this:' Have you ever had to fight seven evil exes with magical powers to get love?39 Nope? Then sit comfortably, because now it will be very interesting.
'Scott Pilgrim vs. All' is a film based on Brian Lee O'Malley's comic book of the same name, it's a whole universe that you want to go back to again and again. Just imagine to experience this vibe: old cafes, secondhands, records, garage rock and, of course, comics! All this creates a unique world, something similar to the atmosphere 'Darya' and 'The radiance of pure reason'.
In the center of this story is Scott Pilgrim - simple, naive, slightly stupid and very, very cute due to all these qualities of a boy. He, already in a relationship with a schoolgirl, falls in love with a stranger - recently arrived in the city of Ramona, who works in the delivery of Amazon. Well, how not to fall in love with her? Her bright hair and catchy style differs sharply from her character: Ramona is quite cold, calm and reasonable, well, clearly not of this world.
And it's for her that Scott will fight seven evil ex-boyfriends! That is, with seven former...
Very easy when watching the movie, with a great presentation and good humor - it is definitely worth your attention! I can also say that this work is not for once, I personally watched this film 10-15 times. So, good viewing!
Sorry for the headline, but honestly, it is. I can hardly draw any analogies with the film 'Scott Pilgrim vs. everyone' for such, as I think, has never been filmed and is unlikely to ever be removed.
The film is based on the comics of Brian Lee O' Mailey about Scott Pilgrim - the most ordinary 22-year-old Canadian boy, missing stars from the sky and not thinking about the future. But in this naiveté of his, the main character of the film is so... is it cute? In his simplicity, he is so sincere that he cannot be sympathetic.
The plot is basically simple: Scott finally meets the girl of his dreams, but to be with her, he must defeat her 7 evil exes. It's a pretty everyday story, nothing surprising.
But perhaps the main advantage of the film is not in the plot, but in how it is presented. He literally sparkles scenes with brilliant visual humor. Directed by Edgar Wright, author of comedies 'Type of Cool Cops' and 'Zombie named Sean', skillfully uses editing and deep exposure to create laughable moments. In addition, I must say that Wright did not just make a film based on the comic book – he really brought it to life and played it on the screen (I won’t say what exactly, if you look, you will understand what I mean).
In general, when watching almost the whole film, I did not let go of the feeling of some naive hooligan awkwardness. When you do something, it's very strange, but you kind of like it wildly, and you think that if someone finds out about it, you'll turn red like a tomato. It’s a very interesting feeling that really makes you feel good. And that's cool. It’s just that all these fights are like your childhood fantasies, where you throw enemies right and left, garage rock bands, unrealistically cool girls ... You get to know your childhood dreams, which now seem so stupid, but see them on the screen, and you like it!
Interestingly, in such a thrash comedy there was a place for a good message and logical development of all the main characters. It’s not just a funny movie, there’s a lot to think about. And this is a huge plus in the piggy bank of the creators.
In my opinion, such a film could only have been made in 2010. Someday the time will come to reflect on this period of history, and this film will certainly be used to study it, as it reflects the dreams, aspirations and lifestyles of young people of that time (this is not to say that everyone lived in Canada and constantly fought with very strange but charismatic ex-partners). Of course not. This is shown rather in the style of shooting: fights, as if from video games, living here and now heroes, in their own way strange and attractive. And even though you haven't seen anything very similar to what's happening on the screen, you're attacked by a rather strange sense of nostalgia for the early 10s. And this is the uniqueness of this movie, its unique style and coolness before the explosion of the brain!
In general, those who want to laugh, have fun, and feel like a little hooliga - welcome!
I’m not really a fan of comics, just like their adaptations, but this film was able to hook me and even slightly amaze me.
Each character is thought out almost to the smallest detail and it fits very well into the film itself, thanks to the “tips and characteristics” that pop up here and there. Very often, cute and pleasant little things catch the eye, which make this picture even more interesting, so I advise you to review the film a couple more times.
In terms of the script, you can not argue, the film is funny, easy and not at all tense, so there is a lot of meaning in it, maybe not, and maybe you will not find it. Although on the other hand, if you discard all the colorful scenes of battles, songs and pay attention to the development of relations between the characters, I am more than sure that people experiencing something similar (or have already experienced) will find parallels with their lives, and maybe even answers to some of their questions.
Of course I was attracted to the music. Perhaps this is a deeply subjective opinion, but I got the impression that with each performance of the group “Sex Bombs” their music became better and more pleasant by ear.
This is at the same time a comedy, a comic book and a unique fighting game. Not only did Edgar Wright do something different from his previous work, he created an exemplary comic book adaptation, a film for which, personally, I did not find a suitable comparison.
'Scott Pilgrim' for me, this is the most striking example of how form has supplanted content. The film is very beautifully shot and directed (after all, the film was directed by Edgar Wright (one of my favorite directors), but the content is almost empty, because the whole film is a set of empty, not too related scenes. So unrelated that the film does not have one genre - it's romcom, and musical, and drama, and superhero cinema. By the way, as the musical film is just beautiful, the soundtrack is great. As a romcom film is not very, because, firstly (in my opinion), funny here 35 percent of jokes from the film, and the rest are quite strange, secondly, the relationship between the main characters is not disclosed and begins out of nowhere.
The main drawback of the film is its ending, if to speak briefly (should you want to see), the morality / ending of this picture is exactly the opposite of morality '500 days of summer' and morality '500 days of summer' I like it.
As a result, very beautiful, interesting in places, the soundtrack is great, but not funny, and the morality (in my opinion) is wrong.
I watched it for the 3rd time and I don’t think it will be the last. To be honest, I haven’t read the comic, but without it I’m just crazy about the movie. Humor is so witty that every time you laugh with the same jokes about the same Wallace, Scott’s behavior and the relationship between the characters of the film. The main thing is that in films of such a plan that we can put ourselves in the place of the main character, and laugh from the heart at the situations in which he gets, they are so caricatured (still a comic book), but at the same time and vital. Well, it is impossible not to mention Ramona herself - pure symbolism in the film. At least their first meeting, a party, a feeling of gray mass, and it stands - pink hair, an even look, as if the girl is not from this world. She is so different from all the other characters in the film is his calmness, judgment and “growth”, that all the others seem to be children against her background. I don't think there's a guy who doesn't fall in love with Ramona and Scott and not worry about him.
This goodness and positivity emanating from the film is so strongly felt that it is difficult not to fall in love with it.
Scott Pilgrim is the bass guitarist of Toronto-based teen garage band Sex Bob-Omb. His Chinese girlfriend is in school, even though he never kissed her. But in a dream, the colored Ramona Flowers appears to him, and then he meets her in reality. One problem is the former league, which Scott will have to beat.
Edgar Wright is now the main postmodern film comedian and fictionalist, who has spun parodies on police movies (Type of cool cops), horrors (Zombie named Sean), Twin Peaks in half with fiction (Armageddian) and something else. It's the turn for teenage movies. The question is, is it a parody? Rather, an ironic look at the teenage world, which has one puncture - the age of the protagonist. After all, at the age of 22, children no longer retain such a naive love mood. Otherwise, the mix of 500 days of summer, music battles and computer games is extremely amusing.
Maybe someone will not have enough superidea in this ugliness, but everything is compensated by unbridled fantasy and cute and slightly brutish characters - for example, the blue neighbor of the protagonist, who very easily shares the same bed with him and just as easily evicts, or the evil producer, enslaving Ramona, and both girls are remarkable and not only for their hair color and nationality.
By the way, Hollywood did not hesitate to develop the topic. If in cartoons it is relatively familiar, although the City of Heroes came out later, then two bison - Spielberg and Rodriguez - picked up the theme in the movie. So it is impossible to pass by a film that is artistically more difficult.
Anyway, I saw Scott. I've been asked to check it out a million times, but I've been postponing it all the time. I liked the movie. So many unrealistically cool shots, that's exactly for this film and created special effects, in some blockbusters they are just so that they were, but not in this film. Edgar Wright is better at film, talent and pop culture than anyone, he's a genius in the field, he's very good. I got aesthetic pleasure from the film, from its fervor, it looks easy and funny, and most importantly - spectacular. But many of this film will not go, mostly older audiences, they simply will not understand it, as they did not understand ' the first player to prepare' although I did not like the film from Spielberg either. There was one thing I really liked about actors. They look incredibly beautiful in the frame, they were created for these images. Elizabeth Winstead is cute and incredibly beautiful, Michael Cera is clumsy and funny, Kieran Culkin is funny, and Chris Evans is generally God, he looked very cool in the frame.
The verdict. The visuals and special effects are made at the highest level, the camera work is incredible, the actors are very cute and look great, the music is interesting and cool. This film looks in one breath and the coolest thing is that you do not miss, because the film simply takes you, envelopes you with its atmosphere and drive. The movie is cool, I have nothing else to add. Be sure to revise in the original and still high-quality picture will find to drown in orgasm from these cool shots.
Before you start watching a movie like Scott Pilgrim vs. All, it’s very hard to expect anything specific. Even after watching the trailers, it was hard to know what movie we were going to see. The movie itself is a comic book. And the comic book is bright, spectacular and very original. And under the leadership of Edgar Wright.
Edgar Wright is a very talented person, the beauty of whose films was in parodying the cliches that have developed in cinema. He first made probably one of the best zombie movies ever made, called "A Zombie Named Sean." Then he arranged a washing of the genre of militants, with police partners in the frame (Type of cool cops). It is not known under what circumstances comics got into his worldview, but here the director of the film did a titanic job and created an exemplary adaptation of the comic, which you need to equal and praise.
Retelling the plot is pointless, because the few lines that describe the film on its page is quite enough. Yes, indeed, Scott Pilgrim must defeat 7 ex-girlfriends. And most of the film consists of these battles, which often take the most unexpected turn, starting with the unprecedented entertainment of fighting games, as if migrated to the film from the games Mortal Kombat or Street Figther and ending with a duel on bass guitars, paraded simulator rock star Guitar Hero. And all the chaos occurs under a magnificent rock soundtrack, which later makes sense to buy.
In my memory, this is the first film where Michael Cera was given the main role. Therefore, unlike previous supporting roles, where he played a guy completely devoid of emotions, the role of Scott looks somewhat better. But on his background, other actors stand out well. Mary Elizabeth Winstead already has a good filmography, so it did not fail here. Kiran Culkin, in the image of a homosexual neighbor Scott, perfectly showed himself, added a significant amount of humor to the film, including on homo themes. Extremely spectacular and funny looked seven former, and especially its leader Gideon performed by Jason Schwartzman.
The first thing that strikes the film is its graphic design. To make the film look more like a comic book, the screen in the film is regularly split into several to see the same scene from different angles. Psychedelic colors color the film in a chaotic order. All around are letters or phrases, the font of which was styled like a comic book. And that kind of madness is a good half of the movie. The rest of the same part is more like a feature film, full of unsurpassed, but unlike, for example, the film “Kick-Ass”, less obscene humor, which is expressed in everything from the hero’s replicas to witty inscriptions that characterize the next character.
“Scott Pilgrim vs. All” is that it is both a comedy, a comic book and a unique fighting game. Edgar Wright did not just do something different from his previous work, he created an exemplary adaptation of the comic book, a film for which there is no suitable comparison.

'Next song for that freak who keeps yelling from the balcony.'
I think this film can be divided into two parts. Before the main story began and after that, they are so different.
The first half of the film introduced us to interesting characters, bright and charismatic. They needed a minute of screen time to be remembered for a long time and joke. I especially want to mention Scott’s roommate. Incredibly charming guy.
Next, the disclosure of a simple plot begins and everything seems normal, but then the first evil ex appears, and... A good movie turns into a farce, showing absolutely empty and stupid villains. Yes, the point of them is that they should be, but they could have been made much more interesting. Ramona, who was such a fateful and mysterious lady in the beginning, suddenly begins to irritate sharply. She just plays the main character and loves him. Her character was never fully understood. There are fewer good jokes, as if the writers had run out of power. And there is nothing to say about special effects, at a couple of moments I almost had blood from my eyes.
I don't know, maybe it's because it's a teenage movie and they're talking about issues that I'm not close to. But, a hackneyed topic, like ' You need to be more careful to choose your boyfriends' and 'When there is a breakup, you must offend someone' Hey, I wanted to watch a witty action movie, and they poured a lot of love snot on me, and it was extremely banal. These are cool characters, and they get into typical situations. You can talk about love outside the box, but here everything is extremely ordinary.
Finished the film climax, where all the logic of the actions of Ramona is lost. The girl, who seemed impossible to control, becomes a rag and does something that does not fit with her. And why they never explain it to us. The main character is acting strangely for no reason. We were never told which corridors Ramone was talking about or how they worked. Scott at the end understands something about them, but that we are not explained.
At first, the film seems amazing, but in the middle it finally becomes stupid. Lovers of beautiful shots, simple plot and light humor can watch calmly, but those who expected something more, most likely, will be disappointed. This movie is an experiment and I wouldn’t say it was a success. There is a lack of depth, disclosure of the inner world of the characters, the relationship of the two main characters.

No, “Scott Pilgrim vs. All” is not based on any game, “Scott Pilgrim vs. All” is essentially a game where the main character has to fight in each round (in a separate section of the narrative) with a new boss, superior in intelligence / strength / set of supercombinations of his predecessor.
Scott Pilgrim is a regular 22-year-old. He is quite windy, because when he meets one girl and sees and then falls in love with another, he shifts all his attention to a new object of his adoration. For some obscure reason (perhaps because he has become an adult), he does not live at home with his parents, but in a small room next door to his gay friend. But at the same time, Scott himself is straight, however, and forced to sleep with a gay friend, as well as with his guys in the same bed (they simply do not have a second one). One day, already dating high school student Nieves Chau, he meets Ramona Flowers and realizes that she is the girl of his dreams. But to be near her, Scott will have to fight with seven of her evil exes, and each of them is angrier and stronger than the previous one!
The visual component is one of the main advantages of Edgar Wright’s film, as Kevin Smith correctly noted, which revived the comic about Scott Pilgrim. It is here that the similarity with computer games appears - due to animation, because almost every scene contains it and refers the viewer to fighting games, where you need to fight with an opponent and score points. In addition, acquainting the viewer with the characters and explaining certain things, the director gives tips that pop up on the screen. In the word, the film is great and skillfully manipulates computer graphics, which perfectly fits into the artistic environment (rather even complements it) and, as it happens in computer games, when a gamer hovers over an object, this graphics acts as an assistant, giving the necessary information.
The film is rich in recognizable guys, although when I watched it for the first time, I didn’t really go into details about who the celebrities are. But after re-watching the gaze appeared Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Brendon Root, as well as Thomas Jane and Clifton Collins Jr. (the latter two appeared in episodic roles, playing vegan cops). And where without Kieran Culkin and Anna Kendrick, once again pleased with her smile.
Another significant advantage of Edgar Wright’s film in my opinion can be considered the activity of the narrative. Now in various video blogs, it is popular to edit so that the viewer sees the zeal of the narrative, so that the presenter says one sentence or me pose, or moves in the frame. In "Scott Pilgrim Against All", this technique is used in part (for example, in the scene where Scott enters the bathroom in one T-shirt and a second later comes out in another, or when he jumps out the window, and a moment later passes by in the background). Due to such rhythmic movements in the frame, the director manages to revive even standard scenes where nothing happens, and the characters simply conduct a dialogue.
Humor. Another virtue of Wright's project. It is subtle and vulgar, focused on both funny expressions of the characters and the situations in which they find themselves. As an example – Scott’s awakening in bed with... (I won’t spoil with anyone) or scenes with the participation of the stupid character Brandon Ruth.
In a word, a juicy and bright film that deserves the attention of the viewer.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
I watched the movie twice. Both opinions remain negative.
Plot:
The film is based on a comic book. And if for a comic book a sharp change of frames, environment and action is the norm of the genre, then in the film this style of presentation knocks down, strains and interferes with systematic perception. The film has many fragments of the plot, undisclosed themes, and the entire script is extremely superficial.
There is a teenager, there is a strange girl and there are 7 ex-girlfriends who are already living their lives, but for some reason he has to load them up in the gambling world of drug addiction. And no more intrigue, side storylines, and generally anything computer special effects.
Actors: the acting game itself of different quality, someone openly overplays, someone on the contrary is terribly stupid, although perhaps it is the fault of the director and his vision of this picture.
In general, this movie can be an easy and simple comedy for one-time viewing for children and adolescents under 17 years old. But as a full-fledged and high-quality movie for an adult audience, in my opinion, it is not suitable. It's in a bright wrapper with sequins.
The plot of this film tells us about a 22-year-old guy named Scott Pilgrim, who met the girl of his dreams and now must defeat all her evil exes. This is just a short retelling of the film, full of gags and jokes, plot twists and bright moments – a simple drummer Scott before our eyes turns into a superhero, throwing enemies on the right and left, engaging in fights with guitarists, skateboarders, and other stereotyped characters who are ridiculed in the film. Wright spares no one, as in his trilogy “Cornetto”, where he literally turned inside out the world of consumer society, in which there were both angry schoolchildren and crazy pensioners, and here the main villain is a producer who personifies show business.
It is surprising why the film eventually failed at the box office, since in my opinion it has all the qualities capable of entertaining the mass audience, here you and the selfless protagonist fighting for his love and supervillains with a number of bizarre abilities, but probably the originality of the film brought by Wright scared people away from cinemas, and he remained, as they say, “a masterpiece for his”.
But whatever it was, the film has many advantages, the first of which is its cast. First, it is Michael Serra, who plays the main character, quite convincing in the role of the hero of the loser, as well as Kieran Culkin, who wonderfully portrayed his sarcastic friend Wallace. Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Scott Ramona's love looks charming. Wright managed to gather all the best young actors on the set, such as Anna Kendrick (Scott’s sister), Aubrey Plaza (who knobs her mat herself), as well as Chris Evans, who plays a character here that does not resemble his Captain America. It is worth noting the magnificent performance of Jason Schwartzman, which eclipsed even the main character. In general, all the characters of the film tried to fame, the characters of both the second and third plan turned out to be very bright and interesting, such as Scott's ex-girlfriend performed by Brie Larson, or Pilgrim's group Sex Bob-omb, especially remembered red drummer (Alison Peill).
With the music in the film is also complete order, the soundtrack drive, and to become a comic style of the film, all the songs organically fit both sad and funny moments, especially remember the song “Garbage Truck” performed by Scott’s group. In the selection of the soundtrack, Wright also showed great originality, inviting such a musician as Beck to write songs.
Summing up, I summarize, the film was successful from all sides, special effects please the eye, the music is great, the plot is interesting, and most importantly, this is mostly an author's film by Edgar Wright, which is rare today for mainstream cinema.
Garage Rock + Eight-Bit Age Atmosphere
The atmosphere of the film together with its universe, on which, accordingly, also depends the atmosphere of the film + garage rock.
Garage rock + dialogue from films that were shot for dialogue (and this film is not made for dialogue)
Garage rock + interesting story
What can I add? This film is so about teenagers that there are not only the main characters, by the way, the only ones, there are no adults in the film, but the universe itself is a universe in the dreams of an ordinary teenager. Unreal fighting games that are a feature of this universe, like in the head of a teenager who imagines it. Imagines how he escapes into such a universe from real life and completely destroys all his rivals. And this universe is nonviolent. No grey heroes. It’s pretty simple: this one is bad and this one is good. Not in the sense that this is a film about good and evil, but in the sense that in this film there are villains and everyone else, and the villains must be defeated. Win without blood and without violence. And that’s not bad in this case (I mean the division into villains and good). It's an absurd universe in a teenager's head. The universe where he has the best and coolest girl, where he is a rocker in the best and coolest rock band. Like I said, this movie is a teenager’s dream. Where is he, Scott Pilgrim?
An easy fun good movie, where a lot is built on eight-bit games of the era of game clubs. If you want to relax and forget about all the problems, turn it on!
And here's the second Edgar Wright movie I've seen. After “Baby on Drive”, I lost the desire to get acquainted with the work of this director for a long time. But time has passed, disappointment is forgotten, and Scott Pilgrim vs. All is the best movie I’ve seen in months. It is difficult to judge the film impartially and objectively. It's hard to analyze. An incomprehensible sense of delight from what I saw does not allow the left hemisphere to turn on, but I will still try to say something more meaningful.
First, I will try to define the genre, although I never succeed. It's definitely a comedy, because most of the time I was laughing. Back when it wasn't very funny. There is a distinct love line, even a love triangle. Melodrama? Also, it's definitely fantastic. You won’t find that in real life, probably. But I am ready to change my mind, of course. Lots of fights, swords, and explosions, so we're going to write them down. Well, I don’t know what the cinematic analogue of a graphic novel is called, but it has to be called something and I’ll find out how. In general terms, this.
The main storyline here is simple and understandable even to an inexperienced viewer. A young man who falls in love with a girl must defeat her seven evil exes. Typical situation that never happened. But the main character has this for the first time. And we understand that he will have to deal with it somehow. We will be happy to watch this, and Edgar Wright will help us with this.
The film, as I wrote, is an adaptation of the comic book of the same name. This determines the choice of the main way of storytelling. And to work with the camera here approached very responsibly. Excellent camera work just does not allow you to sit still. The realization of how cool it is done runs goosebumps on the skin. The construction of scenes, transitions between them, design, color - even small details in the frame are not accidental, they complement the overall picture.
There is something that distinguishes the film from the original source. This is something -- music. It is not enough to say that its creation was taken seriously. It is not enough to mention that for every fictional band we see in the film, specially written songs suitable to their image. All this is not enough to describe the result achieved by the team responsible for the music. Everyone should listen and give them credit.
To quote director Kevin Smith at the end, “I saw Scott Pilgrim.” Great movie. He enchants the viewer, and it does not occur to him that he was so hooked. It’s not easy to get me to say that “he brought the comic to life!”, but Wright brought the comic to life – you can’t tell!
10 out of 10
The film clearly sets the highest bar for visual design. Here and forgotten old console special effects (it is immediately noticeable that the director knows firsthand about the games), here and the design in the style of classic anime. In the visual part, no complaints, very juicy.
Music is a separate conversation, its dynamics and visual part are firmly knocked down, the impression of a holistic picture is created. Bravo.
Come to the heroes and the plot canvas. This is a total failure. Heroes are beautiful, but dumb, flat, as in the game. Perhaps it would benefit such an 8bit creation, as a comic or screensaver in the game, but not for the film, where the empathy of the hero animates the picture. What's here? Scott Pilgrim is a guy who, for all his coolness (again in games), can’t make a single decision (even 25 in the final). Empty hero. Are there any bright secondary heroes? Not again. All beautiful, funny, but again flat.
The topic of pederasty is pretty annoying, too. Previously, films quietly joked about this, now you can safely show “couples” in bed and humor on this topic. Overton they opened, you kick. As the window opens, it can close.
What's in the end: a mixed impression. On the one hand, it is very beautiful and dynamic, for old gamblers to enjoy. On the other hand, everything is very superficial. The love line is so inconspicuous that the whole movie motif is nothing. One special effects, one music. That's 2 out of 10.
Scott Pilgrim. When I read the description of the film, there was a fire in my eyes. I guess I'm not the only one who's had it. In fact, in order to want to see the film, there must be a description that strikes at the heart. Pilgrim succeeded. I started watching and I didn’t regret it.
Personally, I'm a pretty big fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The girl is beautiful, intelligent, organically fits into any film. In the film Scott Pilgrim, she plays a girl who is full of ex-boyfriends and from whom her current young man must fight off. The role of Ramona Flowers succeeded. Especially at the point came with a regular change in hair color. A kind of kaleidoscope of flowers, showing the current state of the girl.
Michael Cera. He has as many good acting roles as Mary Elizabeth. Take Paulie Blicker from the movie Juneau. In the film about Scott Pilgrim Michael very successfully managed to convey the image of his hero. A kind of heroic-depressive romantic who has many problems in life, but he continues to go on. The scenes with the hat are funny, but sometimes it was a sad smile, because in real life such stories are not uncommon. And Pilgrim shows you how to deal with them.
As for the rest of the characters, Kieran Culkin coped very well with the role of a gay neighbor. Of all the angry exes, I liked the vegan guitarist. Well, the piece with the vegan police in my opinion is one of the best in the whole film. Plus, do not forget the red-haired Kim, who played a very important role in the film.
As a result, it has a good, high-quality and colorful film that is definitely worth watching at least once. Unlike most movies, there is a desire to revisit the film. Plus, high-quality musical accompaniment does not cut the hearing and causes a desire to take and download a couple of songs.

You can not part so that no one suffers (c) A life quote that shows that the film Scott Pilgrim not only entertains, but also teaches how to behave in difficult and life situations.
This is a great comedy action movie for personal viewing, and I would even recommend watching it with a girl, because this is a very romantic film with a youthful brisk atmosphere, crazy editing, high-quality special effects and... it is even surprising how with the help of these directorial decisions and successful experiments the film manages to convey morality, some deep philosophy.
Because in the end, this incredible cocktail of action, gags and good music leads the viewer to reason about realism in the relationship of ordinary people.
In fact, it could be an ordinary story about teenage love – but how it is presented in the comic and how it is shown by director Edgar Wright – just an explosion of emotions.
Yes, the film is unlikely to appeal to the older generation, because it is too dynamic, sharp and assertive, in addition, there are a lot of fights and loud music. But for young people, this is a movie that should be watched!
I personally liked the film very much, I am sincerely surprised that I did not watch it earlier, I will definitely watch it, of course 10 out of 10 and Bravo Edagra Wright.
The film gives off some negligence, turning into a slight drug addiction. A lot of quotes and references. Everything is ridiculed.
The film is difficult to attribute to any genre, because you want to come up with a new one for it. Retro games, lightsabers, stand-up humor, comics, music, ' chewing gum ', battles... A lot of things are mixed up, and everything is ridiculed, even though the film consists of just that.
Interesting style. Bright.
We’re going to talk about Scott Pilgrim vs. Everyone. I can’t say that this movie will teach you something, but to make boring PARTY will help.
How? If you ask that question, there's nothing to save your tedious evening. Seriously, this movie needs to be watched with friends.
Why? So and only so, you will be able to remember and laugh at your schools, schools of friends and the main character.
It's time to get to the point. The plot is rather unusual. Scott Pilgrim falls in love with a girl who has seven former lovers. At first glance, the number of guys causes negative associations, but who among us is not without sin? The whole story is built on one attraction, turning into fights with superpowers. It was this film that surprised me. Seven different skills to wrestle with, seven excuses to show you’re cooler than everyone else and it’s all like a video game.
Special effects, graphics and musical accompaniment are also delightful. But I'm a picky personality, so the cast evaluated first. From familiar faces, I came across Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Beauty Inside), Chris Evans (First Avenger), Anna Kendrick (Perfect Voice, Twilight).
What about the main character? To be honest, I've never met him before. Michael Cera is an actor, screenwriter, composer. "Clark and Michael" - one of his robots combines all the abilities of this hardworking man.
