It is amazing that for all my love for Sandra Bullock, who won me with her acting talents in the distant 90s, I did not see the most important role in her career, for which she received the coveted Oscar statuette. Well, to my subjective taste, she had more vivid images in cinema in both comedic and dramatic roles. Although this film has undoubtedly become a landmark for her not only in her career but also in her personal life.
This biographical film tells about one of the promising football players, Michael Oher. But who knows what his fate would have been if he had not met the Tui family on his way? One evening, Lee Ann couldn't drive past a sad black teenager wandering down the road. She sheltered him for the night, she furnished him with the first room, she read the first children's fairy tale. Without too much pathos, we can say that this family saved the life of a child. They gave him a chance for a good future, surrounded by their care and love.
I really liked the image of a caring mother. Sandra did a great job. Blonde doesn't suit her at all, though. She became so used to this role that she then adopted a black child in real life, who is now raising alone. The Oscars are just a nice little thing. But adopting Louis is an admirable act. The film gave Bullock much more than critical acclaim. A great actress and a wonderful person with a great kind heart.
Michael's image worked, too. So big on the outside, but so vulnerable on the inside. It is surprising that a child who grew up in a criminal environment, did not harbor anger at the whole world. He has not lost faith in the best and kindness to others. Quinton Aaron looked good in that role. Overall, the film left a pleasant impression. It's not about sports at all. It means that everyone can achieve something in this life, if his family believes in him.

This story is about a family who sheltered a 17-year-old boy on a rainy evening, who had nowhere to sleep, then they did not know how to develop their fate and that she forever tied them together with a black teenager.
This boy had a very, very difficult time, he was in a new school, where he knows no one, he was scared and lonely in his heart, no one wanted to be friends with him, even small children were afraid of big: 2 meters tall and about 90-100 kg of Big Mike, and in his studies he did not shine talents. Of all his abilities, he had only a sense of protection and self-preservation, perhaps because of this feeling, as a little boy from the Negro ghetto, he did not end up like most and become a drug addict or a thief. His mother did not do it, he did not really study, was in the custody of the state, often fled from orphanages to his mother, a drug addict, loved her despite her hobbies and never forgot her.
Leigh Ann, who sheltered him, at first was a little wary of Big Mike, but the boy turned out to be very capable, well-mannered and kind. Seeing his soft, kind nature, the woman sincerely penetrated into Michael and wanted to help him, learning about his life. So the boy began to live in the family of Tui, he was loved by everyone: his daughter – Collins, younger son – CJ and husband – Sin. Tui's family started taking care of Michael, which made him trust him for the first time and found the family he had been looking for!!
Mrs. Tui invested a lot in Michael, drew the attention of the coach of the school football team, where the boy achieved great success and thanks to his high achievements in football, many colleges and universities wanted to take Michael to their home. For him, great prospects opened up, he chose one of the best universities in the United States, where Mr. and Mrs. Tui studied. So Big Mike got a pass to a better life!!
PS:Be sure to think about how Big Mike's life would have turned out if he had not met this beautiful family, who helped in a difficult moment in his life, how much this family gave him (love, understanding, care, joy and happiness).
An incredible story that shakes the soul and heart to the very depths.
More people who can change the future of another person for the better!!!
When a family acts as a team and a team becomes a family
It often happens that reviewing a once liked film is much more pleasant than getting acquainted with a new picture. "Seven", "The Departed" and a number of other masterpieces (of course, in my own opinion), I think I will never cease to admire, but the intervals between views can be different - from a month to longer periods.
But recently I got acquainted with a film that I wanted to watch literally the next day and I could not deny myself. It’s about John Lee Hancock’s painting The Invisible Side.
Mr. and Mrs. Twee (Tim McGraw and Sandra Bullock, respectively) have two wonderful children, a luxurious home and, in principle, do not deny themselves anything. In short, a happy family on all sides.
By the will of fate, in the school where S.J. and Collins Tui study, a homeless black teenager appears, withdrawn and not succeeding in class. Despite the impressive size, Michael almost no one notices and does not take seriously. And who would have thought that a needless family cares about him?
But there are things above social status and the bank account: kindness, care and compassion. As a Christian family, Mr. and Mrs. Tui decide to become Michael’s guardians and, as a family with a sporting past and present, instill in him a love of American football.
I’ve heard the saying that if you didn’t feel sad about Hachiko, you probably don’t have a heart. The dog’s loyalty, of course, commands respect and touches to the core, but “The Invisible Side” showed me what it means to experience in every millimeter of film.
How often do we turn a blind eye to the negative events happening around us, justifying ourselves with the phrase “This is a dumb thing”? How often do we not reach out to those who need it just because we value our reputation? However, each of us somehow tormented by doubts and remorse for inaction in such situations. Few people are able to let this invisible side, hidden somewhere inside of us, manifest itself and make the world a little better. After all, as Yuri Vladimirovich Nikulin said, “If each of us can make another person happy, at least one, everyone on earth will be happy.”
But are there pitfalls in this river? Is everything really as it seems at first glance, and does the Tui family have its own invisible side, which no one knows, or is it all driven by noble intentions?
The film is simple to genius and does not require deep knowledge in order to understand and feel it. The persuasiveness of the cast is so high that it seems that each of the actors himself faced in his life with what we have the opportunity to see on the screen.

A lot of pictures were shot on real events. Not all of them are successful. But if, suddenly, you want to think about life or even cry, I recommend this film. Sandra Bullock is blonde and the actors are well-chosen. A story with a happy ending, which only happens in life. And after the sound of the penultimate song after the real photos in my head I had only 3 thoughts:
- You have to be kind and tolerant of people.
- This is what family and relationships should be like.
- Anything can happen in life. You just have to allow a meeting with a person first of all in your head, which may change your whole life.
Have a good time!
This film makes each of us think about our lives. Think about how much we think about our own lives while forgetting the lives of others.
The character of Sandra Bullock (or Bullock...) has a firm grip and a soft heart, in which there is room for many who deserve it. She is an iron lady and at the same time a loving and beloved woman. I think this is the personification of the modern ideal woman who is everywhere and everywhere. She was able to see the invisible side of Michael.
Michael, like her, saw the invisible side of everything, had a talent for seeing things and events that others do not see, or try to turn a blind eye. Since childhood, following the advice of his mother, he turned a blind eye to evil, to bad people. Rather, he closed his eyes to the bad side of the characters of these people, for him the invisible side was evil. Michael knew about him, lived and grew up among angry people. I think he was just wise, he knew, all these guys in his neighborhood, for example, became like this because in life there was nothing else but his neighborhood with such people. In addition to the strength of the body, he also has the strength of the spirit. This helps him overcome difficulties and remain himself, close his eyes to all evil and turn it into good, into light. To my great joy, the people here are different. In this film, the rich, the beautiful, the poor, the illiterate, the black, the white, they are all different, some kinder than others.
This picture showed me a lot. You need to be more attentive to everyone around you and take an example from the main characters.
The film is based on the kindest sweet story about how nobody made the winner. Made with the help of money, first of all, and the persistence of one woman, in the second.
Criticizing this movie will not work. The most predictable claim: you can find fault with the game of Quinton Aaron. I used to be warped. But it's me. He's been working half-heartedly, you can't argue.
Now I want to praise you.
The main characters are well written. Let the script as a whole and simple, but the characters turned out well. And, in my opinion, this merit is more writers than actors (by the way, Oscar Bullock). This is a huge plus for the movie.
No matter who's offended. I need to explain. Bullock played well, but hell, it's not in her play that the character is revealed. And this fact is so obvious to me not caught the eye in any Oscar-winning film (in the acting nomination). Here, the proportions of merit of the award are distributed somewhere 60 to 40: the development of the character and the actor's play. Nevertheless, the work has been enormous. Don't think I want to belittle Bullock's talent, it wouldn't have worked out the way it did without her, but Oscar? (although it's an Oscar, there's a lot of subtext)
However, all the characters are incredibly charismatic. Especially CJ. We tried.
As for the plot. Of course, this whole charity line is very happy. But at the end of the film, it becomes so obvious that it’s all about having the money, not the good soul of a Christian, that it’s sad. The film was positioned as incredibly kind and soulful, and here is such a harsh reality.
Cinema in the top 250 is superfluous: it is too simple, banal and, frankly, not very original. It's just a movie on a level, but not so good.
But it's not scolding or grunting.
Again:
There was a quality cute movie that you can watch a couple of times.
Thank you, Mrs. Bullock.
You know, sometimes I miss good old movies where we just had an interesting story and good actors. And for me, this movie was a window into the 90s. Without a twisted plot, without special effects that meet the requirements of the time, without editing, after which the film becomes like a long video clip, without costumes, whose total cost is equal to the annual budget of any African country. Just a good story. A true story played by good actors. And its “reality”, confirmed by photos at the end, is able to hook any cynic, honestly.
It’s easy to do good with 85 restaurants. Only 85 restaurants are not enough to create it. I need one more thing. Big open heart. And courage. Taking responsibility for a teenager met on the road is not the same as putting 5 rubles for charity in a cup in McDonald’s.
And the fact that the film is about real events inspires hope. The fact that everything is not so bad for humanity, if people are capable of real actions. As far as acting is concerned, I am not a great expert. For me, there are, by and large, 2 criteria - convinced / not convinced. So, in this case, definitely convinced. It’s probably not a movie that can be re-watched indefinitely like Girls. But it is worth seeing it at least once.
If you want to help someone, help them make their choice.
Never before have I seen Sandra Bullock as an actress, despite all her service to the American film community and a huge number of roles in box office films. I didn’t seem to care about her acting.
After watching this picture, I am 100% sure that Bullock is an actress with a capital letter and I previously underestimated her. In this film, she played the role perfectly!
The picture itself touched all the brightest notes of my soul, I love when movies make you think about yourself and the people around you. Let many people write that the film is too religious, and there are films about racism a little bit ' stronger ' I am deeply convinced that the picture carries more than the imposition of religious beliefs and the teaching of tolerance for other nations.
The meaning of the picture lies in the choice that each of us makes, someone helps, someone achieves everything himself, someone gives up, but this choice is not always ours. If you want to help someone, help them make their choice.
P.S. I will trade 1,000 blockbusters, with a great cast, fantastic special effects and a mesmerizing plot, for one picture that shows life, even if this story is the exception to the rule.

I love The Invisible Side very much, not because my favorite Sandra Bullock is in it, but because I love kindness, and especially good movies. Movies that inspire hope and show that all is not lost. There are still good people who can help those in need. It may only be a movie, but I prefer to believe that there really are families like the Tui family in life.
The movie is about Big Mike, a teenager whose mother is a drug addict, and who does not even remember the fathers of all her children. The teenager is forced to wear a T-shirt in the fall and look for a place to spend the night. His IQ is 80, he's not literate, and his average score is zero. But the main thing is to believe in a person and love. It is useless to shout at him, it is useless to use physical force. Only good works on him. He is a good man himself.
The only thing I don't understand is why Sandra got an Oscar for this role. She's a wonderful actress and I love her work very much, but it's not her strongest role. Here the Oscar should be given to the heroine, because for the actress I don’t think it was the most difficult role. And the blonde is not hers.
The Invisible Side is one of my favorite movies. For those who still believe in the good, I recommend watching this movie. It's beautiful.

You have changed his life.
- Nope. He changed my (c).
A film from a collection of life-affirming, which is just sometimes necessary to watch everyone.
The story of a guy who was not needed by anyone, but something happened that turned his life around.
In the personality and soul of the hero, despite his huge size, isolation, incommunicado, almost zero knowledge of the school curriculum and grammar, there is an incredible kindness, a subtle sense of thinking, which he sloppyly tries to express on paper and doom. He, in his adolescence, is well aware that no one needs him at all, that he is alone.
But soon, as in our favorite hero-rescue films, there is a woman who, in my opinion, would be only a few. She sincerely wants to change his life, as if she saw something in him that neither he nor others have ever noticed. Big Mike, this is the name of the main character of the picture, this is not particularly opposed, at first, the same isolation is observed in him, and then he gradually opens the door to his heart.
This is not a film with a tragic ending or an intricate plot. He simply explains that the appearance of a person almost always does not open his inner world and soul, and that if you help at least one person on Earth, one person will become happier.

The film is literally saturated with an atmosphere of kindness, right actions, high morality, which is simply impossible to believe that this is even possible. The film helps to believe in success in the fight for your closest. I think films like this can even be shown for educational purposes as a preemptive blow to the anger and cynicism of which there are so many on the street and features among my young peers.
Unfortunately, I don’t know how to write reviews and reviews in isolation from emotions and what is happening in the real world. But on the other hand, cinema is created based on what happens here, then analyzed and re-projected into real life. That is why it is so important to study cinema.
Of course, as someone has already noted, there are some platitudes in the plot and dialogue. But it seems to me that such a film can be forgiven for its flaws, because the goal justified the means. Everyone who watched, was charged with positive energy, someone, perhaps, became a little kinder, and someone stronger. Thank you so much to those guys who do this kind of work. It doesn’t matter if it’s film or other genres of art.
P.S. You feel special emotions in the end, when the fate of the heroes is told, this pure and genuine joy for them, for those who really deserve it.
Thank you very much. Watch a good movie and do good before it’s too late!
When I heard that Sandra Bullock had won an Oscar for this film, I decided I wouldn’t miss it. I didn't regret it. He was as good as ever.
In fact, all the actors are very well selected, and played their roles perfectly. But the star of the film, in my opinion, was Quinton Aaron.
Now for the movie itself. He's just gorgeous. Even though it lasts more than two hours, interest does not fade. Shot stunningly, perfectly conveys the chasm between the two sides of the city: the first is the elite, where rich white people live, and the second is poor neighborhoods populated by uneducated black people. These scenes perfectly show what can happen to a person who was born in such a place and who was not helped in his time. But the main character was lucky. In my opinion, it is after such films that there is hope that good selfless people still exist in the world.
In general, the impression of the film is beautiful, I highly recommend everyone to watch it!

The actions of a person are divided into two main categories: visible, obvious, and those that are inaccessible to public opinion; the latter are actions performed within. In a narrow circle of the family or it is the process of working on themselves, others tend to notice only the result.
Friends of Mrs. Lee Ann Tui saw that their friend, as they say in our people, “went crazy”. Agree, despite the fact that the film made an impression on the masses, even one percent do not think about adoption or guardianship of an adult child. That is, this is the world in which most of humanity lives. The Tui family generously opens the doors of their own world, which some considered to be an unreal sweet tale. This world of theirs was hidden even from the “close” friends of Lee Anne, because they had to be pushed to something that was not visible to the naked eye:
You changed his life, says one of them, Mrs. Tui.
Nope. He changed mine, Lee Anne firmly replies. And that's the whole point!
Now I am more than sure that people do noble, sacrificial and good deeds primarily for themselves. This is a kind of healing drink, after drinking which, you are filled with an indescribable sense of satisfaction and a sense of the integrity of your own life. Lee Ann and Sean have been building their world for years, long days of sincere relationships that complement each other. Sean forgives Leigh Ann for her confusion, which takes his confidence in the future. And the reflection of their relationship with each other - the core that keeps their family together - will be the decent behavior of their children, and later the healed Michael Oyer. I am convinced that in real life, Mrs. Tui and Mr. Tui had more troubles and even tragic moments with a new family member, and the trauma of childhood is a serious and intractable disease. Love works wonders. Love that's inside, not on display. This is not an act at all.
Sandra Bullock and Tim McGroy did their roles at the highest level, and when I learned that Julia Roberts could play Leigh Ann, I was a little disappointed. In fact, without Bullock, the picture would have lost its basic hue. It's just her role, and period.
Quinton Aaron, who played our main character Michael, attracted the attention of many. I am personally still impressed by his amazing composition and kind, grateful, but such a rare, therefore even more valuable, smile.
But honor, that's the real reason for you either do something or you don't. It's who you are and maybe who you want to be.
I was really excited about how the Invisible Side team managed to convey the confused state of Michael, who had a different attitude towards life than everyone else. His silent nature still has some moral laws, which in the mainstream of our time we allow ourselves to forget. He will keep the child in his heart forever.
Michael (after pulling the opponent behind the field): Sorry, coach. I stopped when I heard the whistle.
Coach: Where did you take him?
Michael: To the bus stop. He should go home.
Yeah, we're not used to people like that. We're not used to doing things like this where maybe someone thinks you're not rational, but someone's a fool, maybe even a hypocrite. But people like that exist. In my world, I can count them on the fingers of one hand. There's only two. These are my parents. So that such a world exists, believe me, not only on the set, in the cinema. All you have to do is enter it. There, that for many is a fairy tale.
Why are you smiling?
- I don't know. I'm just happy. Very happy.
- Does this have anything to do with Michael?
- No, it's all about Michael.
This story is amazing. The most important thing is that it is based on real events. The act of the family who took a street boy off the street and turned him into an American football star was bound to be immortalized in the film. The story is very sad and pathetic. But she is kind and honest.
This film will show us what charity and faith can do. What love can do. Very sensitive and subtle.
I liked the cast. The main character and the little boy played well. And Sandra Bullock, of course, looks as good as ever.
The picture teaches to be kind to people, to help them. You can change a person’s life for the better anyway. The main thing is to see and believe in him.
This is the story of a young African-American, Michael Oher, who might have ended up like many of his peers — killed in street gang fights, were it not for a chance encounter with a wealthy, white woman who was tormented by reflection about whether she was a good person. According to the plot, it is difficult to say whether the decision to take such an “unreliable” black guy into the family was spontaneous or balanced, a manifestation of nobility or just an attempt to drown out his conscience, but this is not so important, the main thing is that Big Mike suddenly turned into Michael, and his fate changed dramatically. The heroine of Sandra Bullock did a lot of work on him to show in Bull Ferdinand, dormant in it, remarkable sports and intellectual potential, and as a result Big Mike became one of the best players in the NFL.
Of course, this is another classic, Hollywood fairy tale about the American Dream. You can even call this film social propaganda, but honestly – catchy! I admit, I even cried at one point. I enjoyed watching it. It is suitable for family viewing, as it teaches nobility, courage, honesty and aspiration to the intended goal. Perhaps the combination of these qualities is the secret of life success.
John Lee Hancock's film The Invisible Side made a lasting impression on me.
Michael Ohr, a young African-American, is once again deprived of housing, and he is taken into his care by a wealthy family, of which he eventually becomes a member. Michael has tremendous stature and titanic power and starts playing for the high school team in American football. Success in sports and studies allow him to receive an athlete scholarship and enter the budget department at the University of Mississippi.
This is a true story about Michael Oer, which leaves no one indifferent.
The film "The Invisible Side" makes the viewer think about a lot. He is full of love for his neighbor, nobility, kindness and to some extent about the power of will.
The actors certainly did. Baby Jay Head played S.J with a hurrah, still can not believe that so small, and played so adult professionally. There's nothing to say about Sandra Bullock, she's just irresistible. The whole film could see her beauty intertwined with a chic game.
Quinton Aaron played well. Looks, facial expressions, gestures, words... it all caused emotions.
We were taught from childhood: believe in yourself and everything will work out. But what to do to those who are initially doomed to a miserable existence, without even having hope of admission to a worthy world? the boy named Big Mike for his dimensions was just one of those who had only a bag of his own belongings with a changeable T-shirt. In addition, from a poor black neighborhood, further aggravating the situation. Even when he managed to get to a normal school, Michael had neither the desire nor the opportunity to study. Why if he ends up on a gangster street anyway? . .
This wonderful film is a true story that when everything is completely lousy and irreversible, a miracle can happen. For Michael, the miracle was a fragile-looking woman, but incredibly tenacious, Leanne. She noticed the big boy rather not out of pity, but internally feeling that the guy is not hopeless, just a little unlucky in life. It would seem: what normal person, having a family and wealth, literally from the street will take a teenager clearly not from a prosperous family, twice as much in size, and even bring home to live? Yes, it is a huge risk, but everything can be approached from the right side. Leanne saw in Michael an athlete and a friend, not a dog, picked up for fun. And Mike, a shy kid, in gratitude became the invisible side, protection, for her whole family.
This picture with a very good production, actors who really imbued with this story about the famous American football player. You think: this is all a fairy tale, this does not happen in our selfish world. From this awareness of the reality of the events shown gives a double effect: enthusiasm and respect for such families.
The truth after watching you think: how many on Earth are “Big Mikes”! Each of them could become a famous athlete, scientist, engineer, but because of the inability to get out of a dangerous environment, these guys sometimes do not live up to 30 years. And although this American family adopted one of these guys, a small drop that is unlikely to encourage anyone to do the same thing. But clearly the Tui family is a ray in the dark realm of social inequality and racial prejudice.
The true story of Baltimore Ravens football player Michael Oher. A homeless young African American is taken into the care of a wealthy family. Life in a new environment completely changes the fate of a closed teenager, helps to realize their potential. Enrolling at the University of Mississippi, he plays in the student team and learns the hidden side of the sports game, strategy and tactical analysis. Knowing that in the game it is often the brain that beats the muscles will soon help Michael get into the professional league. Well, what can I say here, except that I expected much more. It seems that all the data of this genre in the film is. And a completely downtrodden hero, who becomes “pity” only at one glance. And the biographical background that formed the basis of the script. And many other things... But that doesn’t really matter. Sometimes it is even annoying. For example, the very first football match Michael. Well, it's such a depressing sight. Maybe for Americans who understand the rules of the game and look like fun, but to me it looked like a ten-minute push-run. Would baseball or basketball be better than American sports? Which are more understandable and spectacular, but no, the director decided to play football. Of course, I may be saying something stupid, because this is a biographical film, but you could find someone else with a more familiar game for the world, not just for Americans. Even so, everything here is unnatural. The film reproduces a time when African Americans were treated much worse than they are now. And it's not reflected on the screen. There were probably racists all over America, and there weren’t any in this city. There were schoolchildren beating black people to death, and there was no such thing, not even a dirty word thrown at Michael. And then I wonder why he looks so clogged. And on the other side. African-American Quarter. In general, if you reason by normal logic, then you are to us, and we are to you. But no, when a white, pretty girl comes to their neighborhood, they, although they behave more rudely than whites to blacks, but, nevertheless, all this is very tense. Of course, there are individuals who are pure in soul, like Michael, but not the whole city. Straight, a kind of ideal world, just like the village from the movie “Mysterious Forest”, only with the only difference that there was at least one villain, and here they are not at all. And the writer Hancock, to put it mildly, had better jobs. For example, the script for Clint Eastwood’s film “The Perfect World”. Here was a really touching, and touching story for the soul, but there is no... I didn’t like the way Bullock played either. Absolutely nothing special. Meryl Streep played her role in “Julie and Julia” much better, but the academics probably decided that that role is too comedic, and therefore such results. Why? That's too bad. In general, this is a film that clearly outlines the tasks. Press pity, elicit sympathy. They don’t want to show reality. That’s what kills me the most in these movies. And since such films no longer touch my soul, as lately I look at movies too pragmatically, and it rarely happens that a film can amaze me in this regard. Therefore, the attitude to this work is appropriate, but it has all the qualities to become a national hit. I'm pretty sure. Original
