General Impression: A film that caught my attention from and on. The development of events is so interesting to watch, immersed in this crazy whirlpool of intrigue. The events unfold in the 60s in the USSR. Young Sergeant Victor dreams of a career. Luck smiles at him, he is noticed and hired as a personal driver by an army general who wants to impersonate his daughter Vera. Their novel develops at the general’s dacha in Crimea, in parallel with the secret struggle for spheres of influence between the army and the KGB.
GG Victor (Igor Petrenko) grew up in an orphanage. For him, the work that has turned up is not just luck, it is a ticket to a new life. That it is worth getting away from what is hanging a dark spot. Well, to carry out all the instructions of the general, to carry his daughter, although not just to carry ... to twist the novel. Vera (Alena Babenko) is a beautiful girl, but she is disabled since childhood, by coincidence Vera becomes pregnant, the father of the child is not. And who will look at the lame... Of course, this is a chance for Victor.
This is a drama with a touch of melodrama, you know, a subtle barely noticeable touch. Because love isn't there. I felt sorry for Vera. First impregnable and embittered, and later a woman in love and winged, who is not ordered to become desirable. So sad that the tears in my eyes were coming. What about Victor? And Victor is calculating, of course, he got used to the Faith over time. He chose not love but a good life. What happened? Whether circumstances, or boomerang, as you think, and see.
Beautiful views of Crimea, nature fascinates. What about the cast! In this film there are both famous and unknown actors. But the essence of the matter does not change, everyone plays their roles 100%.
It's a tart ending that makes me so sad. But you don’t want to forget this story, as if a moment has passed the movie, and thoughts still do not go away. This picture opens the veil in someone else’s life, where there is absolutely everything: betrayal, jealousy, love, pain, and a lot of things. Here’s my recommendation, you should check it out!
An excellent film by Pavel Chukhray, a melodrama against the background of the specifics of the “Khrushchev” of the early 60s in the USSR. The strength of the film, with its “population”, is the acting of all the characters that are at all noticeable in the frame, looking very authentic. Characteristic details of everyday life in the Crimean garrison, where the action takes place, the major children of military commanders with servants of sailors-soldiers. Successfully selected imported sun-life music compositions, hits of those years. Very juicy landscapes, especially urban in Sevastopol. The peculiar sign of time and place that flashed in the frame is the Latinos exercising in the courtyard, apparently barracks for friendly Cuban revolutionaries undergoing retraining. Of them, very colorful turned out to be well-acquainted with us uncomfortable Rohes, who broke the heart of inexperienced Vera - an excellent work of Dmitry Vysotsky. A bright episodic role of Alexander Mezentsev, a severe gynecologist in a district hospital without anesthesia. Towards the end of the film, the episodes seem to fade. The plot of the relegated tragic story with the “yellow folder” looks confusing and smeared.
Perhaps the most interesting melodrama with shades of retro preamble, when the first 10 minutes to watch the film boring. And then it's exciting, you can't hold back your emotions and instincts. Like in a whirlpool, where you try to survive and fight for every second.
Aerobatics is a replica of Panin "Empty!". it is here that the psychology of all the most tense in the script and plot is revealed, which was appreciated by many directors and critics. That is, emptiness is a certain result that should help move on.
The star selection of artists with many years of experience and the debut of Igor Petrenko did not spoil anything. In fact, everyone has done their job. Chukhrai likes to shoot intimate scenes beautifully and does not fail - young Katya Yudina reveals herself as a flower and rescues a brave soldier who is destined for life without embellishment.
Petrenko, who plays the role of the general’s driver, does not care for his daughter. He knows honor is more expensive. Just in life he encounters those who wanted to remove the General, however, will substitute him from the other side. And the ending, too emotional and tragic, gives the film a win. The end of his filming coincided with a period of emotional upheaval in Russia, when everyone thought that a little more and heal. We didn’t have a good time, but thanks for the movie!

The son and not only that of the famous Soviet film director Grigory Chukhray, who staged the wonderful film “The Ballad of a Soldier”, Pavel Chukhrai, did not shame his father’s name, but gave such a picture that his father can be proud of him, however, as we all do. Behind the beautiful panorama of the Crimea, a real drama and tragedy are shown, no worse than Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet combined. Why not worse? Yes, because the soul screams and screams as the heroes torture each other. This is a heavy film, which must be felt and at the same time put yourself in the place of individual characters, in order to clearly and clearly grasp the idea that Pavel Chukhrai tried to convey to others.
Let's start with the main character. Have you ever been raised in an orphanage? If not, it is hard to imagine what it is. Hard, but possible. From the same books and movies. Yes, it is possible to imagine, but to feel fully. And Victor (Igor Petrenko) is an orphan. And this is a post-war orphanage, where it is cold, hungry and parasha. Once in Crimea, naturally, the first desire to gain a foothold and hold. Just like that famous cat on a hot roof. But at the same time, the devil does not sleep, tempting the main character with a beautiful and secure life. What's in the foreground? "" A general who is loyal enough to Victor. The daughter of the general, Vera, who can not boast of her father’s loyalty, calling the hero Petrenko a soldier and servant. Of course, it is extremely unpleasant to hear this, but you can tolerate it for a great purpose. And Victor has one goal, to learn further and get into the top command staff. The goal in itself is not bad, but only one person from the authorities turned up to his trouble, who offered to report everything in writing. What about everything? Yes, absolutely, so, nothing, a little about who, what, where and especially about the General. So there was Victor between the hammer and the anvil. And in life, neither wolves nor sheep are fed.
That one line. One individual human destiny and human choice. Another line, the line of the general's daughter, Vera. Not too attractive, not with a long scythe, plus everything and limp. Add to this the fact that she is the daughter of a general, so she was used to that carefree and prosperous life. But after all, I still want love, so I found adventures on a ship with a Cuban, the consequence of which is that I am not happy. Alyona Babenko played one of her best roles in cinema. The role is very characteristic and expressive. And after all, it is great to show not only the physical ailment, but also the very passage of the heroine through all stages of her life. You can see how her heart thaws when this same soldier begins not only to show signs of attention, but also encourages a young girl to duck into a strong male shoulder when they stand above the delightful horizon, and perhaps above the abyss.
Next up is the General's list. And there was no choice. Few people paid attention to the fact that the folder is hunted by people from the organs. Does it even exist, this folder? I doubt very much, because the general is not stupid and invented it so that they would not dig too deep. Take it and do not invent it, you would look at everything differently, and so ...
Well, for a snack, the heroine of Catherine Yudina Lida. I don't know why she's acting so unceremoniously. And verbal sentences to Vera allows, and the tail in front of Victor twists, and in general “knows everything best”. What is her dog business, why did Victor come to Crimea? It's her job to be a maid and a servant. But no. It is impossible to sit on two chairs at the same time, fraught, very fraught. Again, there was no choice. Had Lida endured when she was pointed at the door, did not drop a poisonous line, look and would not have had to.
How could I forget the crash scene? Unforgivable. The collapse of mirrors, dishes, photographs and other things on behalf of the Faith. This is when a person is very, very hurt and finds a way out in destroying everything around him. And how my father got here in time. He doesn't get along well with his daughter. But when the daughter is ready to kill herself and everything around, the father’s heart takes over and we already see not the general in epaulettes, but the father who remembers his mother and boiled potatoes. It's a very powerful scene that emphasizes the cry of the soul: "People! Come to your senses! Stop destroying everything and everything, and turn back to your loved ones!"

It would have been a melodrama about love. That's true. To send to hell the whole finale of the film, the scenes of intercourse with Lida, the opportunistic nature of the sergeant and instead of all this insert a love story where a good and handsome sergeant sincerely loves the beautiful Vera, at the same time helping her father - a comrade general. That would be enough for me to appreciate.
And the high rating was initially formed as twice two. First, the charming Alyonk Babenko is the decoration of each frame. Secondly, the ZIM car is another decoration, a brilliant, polished, rare machine. If I were a billionaire, I would probably collect these old Soviet cars instead of yachts with football clubs. Third, the plot. We are immediately shown that the people on the screen are alive. Immediately immersed in their lives, in their problems, as if throwing in the middle of the lake. And when we see Vera trying to solve her problems, we draw up the situation and recreate her past. I think it’s more honest with the viewer. And fourth, the shooting itself, the props, the atmosphere of the Soviet era - all this was done very responsibly.
But the movie, apparently, wanted to recall the "dashing" 90s, when most films did not spare the viewer, but on the contrary, in an attempt to shock him as much as possible did not skimp on any methods. So is "The Driver for Faith." Instead of a typical melodramatic happy ending, such a drama began here that it even hurts for itself: well, how could one do this to the heroes I love? Especially with Faith herself. She's already miserable. Plus, this funny scene with Lida, who again like to put cold water on his head.
All those dramatic events that happened towards the end, testify that the director did not feel sorry for the audience. It's like he'd show you a little furry kitten for a long time and then put it in a bucket of water. And you would only have to clap your eyes and be stuck on your lips with the question “Why?” I have the same question for the filmmakers.
The Driver for the Faith. It was strange to think that this film was not interesting. On the one hand, there is nothing to blame yourself for, because any movie will always find its viewer sooner or later. In addition, it is unlikely that 4 years ago I could appreciate this picture. On the other hand, this movie is unique and the fact that I have matured for him for 4 years and did not understand all this time the true talent of actress Alena Babenko makes me reproach myself in the past. Anyway, my time has come. I saw him. And it struck me.
To begin with, the main character of the film is not a simple person. Due to a certain physical disability, she is emotionally pinched and at first very sharp with the main character - Victor, her driver. However, the compassion that Victor will show for Vera will make her look at him with different eyes and even fall in love. Faith is a sincere person in terms of feelings for the main character, which cannot be said about the latter, because he has a military career on his mind, and Vera’s father is an important bird in the plot that can arrange this career for Victor. In return, Victor should become both the husband and father of her child. While watching the film, I caught myself thinking that I could not determine Victor’s attitude to Vera: whether it was just duty and pity, or still love. Whatever it was, the choice was not made in favor of Vera: Viti’s career took first place and because of her, he eventually lost everything.
The father of the main character, of course, was a person significant to the party, a general, and therefore experienced in certain life situations. But he could not discern in his entourage the one who, in the end, brought everything to naught: the happiness of Vera, and the career of Victor, and the general himself. I’m not quite sure that the director wanted to expose the Soviet order in the first place. People set each other up at all times, regardless of system or ideology. Just in the context of such a “snitching” time as the period of the USSR (specifically in the film is 1962), this is the most obvious.
Going back to Victor and my discussions about his love-dislike for the Faith... The film begins with Victor posing in front of a camera next to the car he was driving. Beautiful Volga of the Soviet model. Crow, elegant, he likes her much more than the people around him. It is for her that he may have felt true love. He was so sensitive to her, even took her out of the fire, that his relationship with Faith, in comparison, pales.
As for the Faith itself... Alena Babenko just perfectly coped with her role. You really believe her. You feel sorry for her. You understand her and you want to help. At least in me, this character caused a storm of emotions. She is fierce and at the same time capable of humility. She is revealingly rude at the beginning and truly tender afterwards to Victor. She's determined and uncool. Victor, despite the present mercantility and careerism, in the end, is also capable of action. A real, courageous act. Therefore, I would not oppose it to faith. She was certainly much stronger than him. But he eventually found the strength to make the right choice.
This film has not without reason won a considerable number of awards of the domestic level. This movie is made by a good director, it is played by talented actors, it is about difficult love and about how mean sometimes people are. It's a movie for all time. Because it’s not about our time, but it’s about our time.
