Not bad in itself, Garfield 2 follows the holiest tradition of the absolute majority of sequels: everything in them becomes more primitive, secondary and in general the percentage of need to view is noticeably reduced. Comparing films of a similar category with each other, one involuntarily notices that not only Garfield, but also Babe, and other films already in the second part cause mainly disappointment among viewers. And since it often takes a lot of effort to create talking animals, it follows the obvious assumption that, hoping to stun everyone with computer graphics for the second time, directors forget about the high-quality script.
Are you sure traveling to Britain is so important for the Garfield sequel? It’s not Cats vs. Dogs, which originally had an international dimension. Yes, along with the first part, Garfield 2 gained popularity, but to be honest with myself, the second part is not a masterpiece. Here there is the eternal scourge of American cinema - toilet humor. In a small amount, but still it is. But the first part made us laugh with quite harmless jokes, without any awkward scenes. It is noteworthy that in the second part, many animals stand in sharp contrast to the two main cats. If Garfield and Prince XII look anthropomorphic and almost intelligent, then parrots, dogs, hares and cows are like ordinary animals with emotionless eyes. They have their mouths open, but this is the level of Babe from the 1990s, not Garfield from the 2000s.
Human characters have also become secondary. Again, we have an insidious main villain who comes into conflict with the owner of the cat, only unlike the first part here, on the contrary, no one sees prospects in animals. John (Brekin Meyer) and Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt) are reduced to cameo. If they waved their hand to the camera and said, "Hi, remember us?" nothing would change much. Perhaps the only thing that is making progress is the location. English castle is magnificent, luxury and strikes in the eye. Their influence is limited to a single scene in which Garfield makes a mess. Sad.
The music, which in the first part created a feeling of cheerfulness, positive, in the second part only emphasizes the coolness of Garfield, and this is also a big omission. This is probably one of the reasons why the second part in the box office was very short, and even failed in the American one. Following Babe, Garfield remained a dilogy, albeit quite good overall.
I finally decided to review Garfield 2: The Story of Two Cats. This is a sequel to the first part and I must say, running ahead, it is no worse, and in many ways even better than the original!
John has a girlfriend he loves, and Garfield doesn’t like it. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world there is a Garfield doppelganger of royal blood. Will they ever cross, what adventures await them?
In terms of the plot, I liked the idea! In general, if you compare with the first, then this part is much more dynamic, there are more characters involved and much more events take place. Also, people in the sequel are given more screen time, but this is not a bad thing, the film looks harmonious and interesting. Garfield, as always, excites with his jokes, and I just love them!
I think it is not quite appropriate to evaluate the acting game, after all, the main characters are animals, not people. But in general, there are no claims to the actors, all coped with their task, they complement the picture without pulling the blanket of the viewer’s attention from Garfield to themselves.
Basically, I think this is one of those cases where the sequel is better than the original. Very few people manage to achieve this, and director Tim Hill succeeded! A lot of work was done, it was important to link Garfield and his doppelganger in order to have time to reveal well that the first and second character. And I believe that Tim coped with this task.
The musical accompaniment is not inferior to the first part in terms of dynamism, I also liked it, the music is drive and makes the viewer “wake up” and follow the development of the plot with even greater attention.
And I'm so glad that the authors decided to make graphics only Garfield, and all the other animals they shot live. This is the highlight of the movie!
I really liked the second part, I think it’s a head taller than the first. For those who haven’t seen it, I recommend it!
The second part of the adventures of the red and fluffy lover of lasagna is filmed in the spirit of the story of Mark Twain “The Prince and the Beggar”. Garfield became less egotistical, Odie less dorky (but never learned to speak), and the cartoon itself less childish. The age limit from 0+ jumped to 16+, which, in principle, is not surprising – scenes of violence, jokes with vulgar overtones. In general, in the second part, the animals seemed to have receded into the background, giving way to people. By the way, the adults in the cartoon are shown to be... strange. In general, there was a feeling that having conquered small viewers with a cute plush cat in the first part, the creators decided to quickly concoct the second part, but now luring an adult audience. It turned out that it turned out – the cartoon is not clear for whom. But everyone likes it.
I will not write the story, but it shines with a lack of logic. The cat inherited the estate - this alone is unthinkable. And the scene of lasagna preparation by the entire livestock yard and the final “baldge” by the pool is generally beyond my personal understanding.
But despite all of the above, Garfield 2 deserves to be praised for a pleasant 80 minutes. As an overgrown teenager, I was really interested in watching Garfield and Odie travel to another country, changing cats, clumsy tricks of Lord Dargis. And, of course, a low bow to Oleg Tabakov for an amazing voiceover. This is not Matroskin, this is a separate character with his own character!
I recommend it for a family review. The children will be delighted and the parents will have fun.
The new adventures of Garfield is a wonderful movie. And in the voice of Tabakov - double.
The character himself was invented very charismatic, funny, charming, funny and in his own positively selfish. But a cat is something. He is realistic, the furry and wool drawing combined with his snout, which changes depending on his mood, is a masterpiece. In principle, his ego has repeatedly played a cruel joke with him, but it is his character that he owes, easily getting out of the alterations and helping everyone and everything, although he himself does not admit it.
I have reviewed this part several times. She's not the first one to say anything. There are a lot of very simple scenes and quite picturesque dialogues and actions, there is no such liveliness when working with animals. Weak installation. Some discrepancy in terrain, but very well shown mutual assistance.
The Duke is the main antagonist of the film, looks too unnatural due to his stupidity and stupidity. . .
I bet nine out of ten and only for some slowness of scenes.
One cat is good. Two cats are a class.
I had a lot of concerns about the Garfield sequel. I watched it not too long ago, unlike the first one. Well, the sequel is definitely not inferior to the original in terms of originality, wit, the ability to cheer... It's still the same great entertainment. And certainly better than boring and uninteresting 2-3 parts of “Alvin and the chipmunks”. I recommend you to watch the first part!
For an entertaining comedy, the main thing is that it is fun to watch, so that it is not boring. The second Garfield masterfully handles this.
But let's not forget the story. He won't miss you either. Light, but it does not take off the screen.
And Garfield himself became no less charming. By the end, I noticed that he was not as selfish as he used to be. Because life raised him. This is definitely a plus.
However, the sequel did concede something to the original - in humor. In general, the first part also did not shine with sparkling humor, but still a few witty jokes were. I can only mention one joke here.
For me, both parts of Garfield are on the same level. I can't even tell you which one I like better. I can only say that these are great comedies for the whole family. I highly recommend it!

P.S. I’m even a little happy that the sequel failed at the box office – so would anyone do a triquel, and in fact would hardly be as lucky with it as with the second part...
Garfield is a very popular cartoon character in America from the comic book series. This red cat is very funny, he is lazy and likes to eat. In 2004, a comedy film for children was released about him, and two years later in 2006 this sequel was released.
In this part, we see the red-haired cat Garfield traveling in secret from his master in his bag with him from the Americas to England. Here, Garfield is mistaken for the prince's missing cat, and he and Garfield are like two drops of water. Before us another adventure Garfield, but in this story there are now two of them.
This movie is exclusively for the youngest viewers. For an adult, the film will seem silly and banal, but children should appreciate this family comedy, because it was created for them. Garfield is always very cool. He is a charming cat, he has many catchphrases and humor is excellent, so he is loved. The sequel is again played by American, young actors Breakin Meyer and Jennifer Love Hewitt. The negative role is played by British actor Billy Connolly.
In this comedy, there are many scenes with animals, chases and various jokes. The comedy was very coldly received by film critics, but I think children should appreciate it. Garfield 2: The Story of Two Cats is a 2006 family comedy adventure. The movie is light and it's one time.
It's not a frequent case of a sequel surpassing the original. The second part was more witty, more interesting and lively. Although the money for the production of the film was spent many times less, for example, you feel less meticulous drawing of wool. But that's not the most important thing in the movie. The atmosphere is important, the mood in general, and the film leaves a “pleasant aftertaste”.
This time, the role of the director brilliantly performed the screenwriter of “Sponge Bob” and the director of “Muppets in Space” Tim Hill. The action of the second part takes place in London, where Garfield, randomly changes places with his aristocratic cat twin, a rich heir to royal blood. The Story of The Prince and the Beggar in Garfield Interpretations.
In fact, it is amazing how the creators of the second part managed to persuade Bill Murray, after the, not quite successful, first part, to participate in the continuation of the adventures about the cat Garfield. Yeah, and the cat turned out more cynical, I like him better here.
It was in the evening, there was nothing to do, so I decided to watch, or rather review the film Garfield 2. To be honest, the second part turned out to be much weaker than the first, but at the same time I was quite satisfied with the viewing.
The plot revolves around the already beloved cat Garfield and his doppelganger prince, who lives on the other side of the earth. However, not everything is so smooth in the life of both.
Garfield has to drag the dog Odie across half the globe for his master John, who wants to propose to his girlfriend, and the Prince receives a legacy from the late mistress of the throne, which was supposed to receive the nephew of the mistress Lord Dargis, so the Prince has a new enemy who wants to kill him. Dargis throws the cat into the street, telling everyone that he is dead, thereby hoping to get the throne. Meanwhile, Garfield unknowingly escapes from his master. John is trying to find Garfield, but Smithy Prince's butler. Everyone finds the wrong cat, thereby changing their places, and our story begins.
As for the cattle yard that Lord Dargis wants to wipe off the face of the earth. I think the idea is not bad, especially if we assume that the presence of “animals” will surely attract a children’s audience to the screen.
The acting is great, I really liked how actor Billy Connolly got used to the role of the nasty and selfish Dargis, bravo!
And of course the voiceover. Inimitable Garfield is voiced by the inimitable Oleg Tabakov. The prince is voiced by a completely different person, his name is Oleg Forostenko.
Conclusion:
I think this film should appeal to those who just want to relax while watching and just laugh. And, of course, for the children, who in fact adapted the film. Don’t look for meaning, just relax and watch. The film is really not bad, however, with the first part I will not undertake, because, as I said earlier, “this is heaven and earth”, but for a family evening it is quite suitable. A beautiful comedy and a beautiful Garfield.

This time, the universal favorite Garfield was twice as big, two cats! In general, I love movies on the theme of “change places”, and although this is not the most successful of its incarnations on the screen, it still turned out quite funny.
For some reason I wondered why funny puppy Odie doesn't talk. After all, not only Garfield, but also other animals in the first and second part have speech! It's a shame, they made the guy look like a stupid creature who only knows how to chase his tail. Against the background of other “talking” animals, the dog looked a little backward.
As in the first part, everything is fun, but not finished. The script is incomprehensible, sometimes delusional and hopeful. After all, cinema is for children, adults will be too picky to it, although who... someone will be so fascinated by a cat that he will not care more about everything else.
Special thanks to the creators for London. I adore this city to tears, there were times when I looked at it and cried. That's my admiration. Fairy tale city, dream city... And the film just shows its main attractions, as if she visited there on a small excursion. Little, but pleasant, and the soul rejoiced, and the cat laughed.
Show Garfield to your children, look for yourself, laugh, after all, the cat is what you need, and will laugh, and surprise, and will not let him forget, of course.
