I'm going to rhyme like a poet, I love this movie for its plot. Why only 2 reviews per movie? That's what I never understand. The film "Don" Shah Rukh Khan is full of reviews, and there are almost no reviews for this film. But the film Shaha is just a remake of the film Amitabh Bachchan, very good, high-quality, but a remake. And Shah brilliantly played this role. But no remake is ever better than the original. Therefore, I do not understand why so few fans of Amita-ji and his films have written reviews for so many years.
Although, I did not write it either, I thought that I had everything written for his films, but I was wrong, now I am correcting myself. Yesterday I reviewed this film, and today I want to finally correct this unfortunate mistake, and write a review of one of the best films of the 70s. He also has a double role here.
The description here on the KP is very detailed, and this story is known to many almost since childhood, and I do not know what kind of mafia there is in India and what kind of dark things it does, but Indians love to make films about it, especially about the leaders of this mafia, who in Bollywood are called in the Italian manner - don. One of these Dons played in the late 70s Amitabh Bachchan. Amit-ji did not often play negative characters. But I must say, the villain he turned chic. Don, the leader of one of the bandit groups, beautiful, angry and ruthless. He cleverly calculates all the moves of the opponents, ahead of them one step: they are still thinking how to “throw” him, and he has already come to kill them.
A lot of people would want to die. The police want to catch him. One day she almost succeeded. The brave girl Kamini (Helen) lures Don into a trap. Her task is to keep the criminal in the hotel room until the police come for him. How can an Indian girl do that? Naturally, singing the hero a long Indian song. Helen, dressed in a very revealing dress, sings something like "Help me, help me", only in the Indian manner. The song is long, verses for 10, so even the Estonian police would have had time to come, but since there is still a lot of time before the end of the film, Don manages to escape, saying his sacramental phrase: "It is not difficult, but impossible to catch Don."
And yet, “no matter how much the rope twirls, the end will come.” Severely injured by the police Don, when trying to escape, dies. But the accomplices stayed. And in order to take them all, a doppelganger is sent to the gang (similar to the movie "Gentlemen of Fortune" ). The undercover agent is a poor man Vijay, as two drops of water similar to Don. Of course, in his role too Amitabh Bachchan. As an illiterate poor man, he is very persuasive. I have already written that even in the clothes of a porter, and a poor man, Amitabh manages to look like a king - after all, a high origin and a gloss can not be smeared with makeup.
So, Vijay in the gang. Only the Chief Inspector knows that he plays the role of Don. The main task of the new agent is to stay alive, because, firstly, he is hunted by the police, who think that he Don, secondly, members of the gang who suspect that he is not Don, thirdly, the girl Roma, who independently infiltrated the gang to avenge her brother (in this role, the beautiful Zinat Aman Roma, they will work together, and work perfectly together).
The plot is spun chic, musical numbers at the highest level, the happy end will be mandatory, so it is worth watching this spectacle, especially since there is something to admire here. And who?
Now the actors. First of all, I want to mention the amazing Helen. She was a revolutionary in Indian cinema. She was the first to introduce very revealing outfits on screens. After all, she is essentially a dancer, and her numbers in the movies have always been dance, but so bright and memorable that often, when discussing movies watched as a child, with her participation, we remembered her amazing dances, and said "this is the film in which Helen danced in such and such a dress." Here her outfit is very sexy - a very short top, barely covering her chest, and a skirt, if you can call it a skirt, those two pieces of fabric on a very thin waist, completely opening her legs from the feet to the thigh (such two chic incisions). Such a woman will seduce anyone, as Helen tried to do when she danced and wriggled around Don, trying to keep him in the room until the police arrived. How she seduced him, in very sexual and frank positions. But Don would not be Don if it had not revealed its intention.
The cast is generally amazing! Not only did Amitabh Bachchan star in the lead role, which will decorate any movie, but even in episodic roles, real stars play here (and not because they are known, but because they play beautifully!). Roma was played by Zinat Aman, one of the most interesting Bollywood actresses in my opinion. The girl is beautiful and talented. Here we see a beginning, but already promising actress. After this film, her career went uphill, and the actress was noticed by the most prominent directors. Roma is not only beautiful, but also intelligent and honest. How she fights! There is an excellent preparation of the actress for her role.
Inspector da Silva was played by Iftekhar. Of course, his character does not cause positive feelings, even because he is a policeman and seems to be guarding the law. But I definitely like the actor! He is a very talented and versatile actor who just added raisins to this sweet cake called Don. The leader of the mafia, although he often played supporting roles!
Finally, it is impossible not to mention the amazing Prana - he played a hero named Jasjit, who has every reason to hate Don. And this former circus artist, enters with Don into a confrontation, and then almost even begins to be friends with Vijay . Especially knowing he took care of his children.
I will say a few words about music, without which it is impossible to imagine an Indian film. These are, as always, organic episodes that determine the plot of the film. Especially all the songs Vijay, how gorgeous he is in these clips (Amitabh of course).
I consider this film one of the best Indian action films of the past years. There are chases, fights, and blood - and no falsehoods and dancing on broken legs. Everything is real, everything is adult ... Take a look and enjoy yourself. It is worth it. Classics never get old, and always look with pleasure.
