Read and see According to the fame of his plays, the classic of domestic literature Alexander Ostrovsky can compete at home except with Anton Pavlovich.
Honestly, I like the plays of Ostrovsky more. And therefore, I have a higher demand for film adaptations of my favorite works.
I began to watch the film with apprehension, yet 1933, so long ago it was filmed, films of those times often seem strange, they are seriously difficult to perceive. If you have the same doubts, then put them away, the film is just beautiful.
Actually, this is a film adaptation of one of the most famous plays of our literature-play “Thunderstorm”. Everyone was in school, but I don’t know if everyone read it. If you are a restless schoolboy or well you are not drawn to books, then I recommend this film to get acquainted with the play.
Yes, the scenery is quite modest, but the work is designed for this, yet it was written for theaters, and we should not forget that the film is more than 80 years old.
But acting is something amazing. Absolutely every actor in his place, everyone literally lives their roles ... no, I could not believe that these are actors ... these are living embodiments of the heroes of Ostrovsky.
And although before the viewing I imagined Katerina quite differently, after I see another wife Kabanov. For me, this is forever Alla Tarasova. She seemed to pass wildly this withering of life, indifference of her husband, humiliation of her mother-in-law, a fire of love ... and, finally, the terrible torment of conscience ... when you burn out of shame, and you realize that it is stuffy and impossible to live without it. All these feelings I experienced a mix with her on the screen.
Kabanova performed by Varvara Massalitinova turned out chic, here she was just what she imagined her. Grumpy and suffocating everyone around her power, while a rather ignorant old woman. And the executor of the role of her son, Tikhon Kabanov, who loves only to hide from his mother, who is afraid of her, who does not put his wife in anything just because his mother wanted so, was on top. And also, like Catherine, I did not see it in the same way when I read it ... and again I am convinced.
Varvara and Kudryash are very good. Energized, cunning, but at the same time quite kind people, in love with each other.
And exactly in the role got Mikhail Tsarev, the performer of the role of Boris Grigorievich. By the way, later the actor became a wonderful theater director.
I will not talk about the semantic load of the film, there are literature lessons for this, and Ostrovsky, in the end.
