We're getting closer to the finish line. The series began to look more and more like “Supernatural” (many different otherworldly, which many people for various reasons struggle). In fact, we also have two American acrobat brothers in the plot, but the humor here is much worse than the Winchesters.
The season has its own groundhog day (a bit amusing moments), and Mystic Falls is stripped of mysticism by the result of last season. The brothers love who Elena is, who else. Many heroes die again, then come to life again, many are twisted to death, then they come to life again.
Heroes again have a sworn enemy (perhaps not one), they partially revert / recall the past. Again, we drink blood like it’s syrup (in reality, it’s probably what the actors drank on set, so it looks so tasty from the outside).
There are really spectacular special effects in the season. But more often, the main characters are engaged in psychological self-digging, which has already become boring. Here in general a lot of things got boring, so the series just plays against the background, often there is no desire to even delve into the plot, only you focus a little on some of the climax moments.
_
Otherwise, women try to seduce men with beautiful makeup, long and bare legs, etc. Men are desperately fighting and avenging women if someone hurt or even killed them. It's creepy in fact, but the plot, even with blood and death, is presented as a kind of children's show, which, if you think about it, should look freaky, but for some reason we do not think so. But the series is actually freaky (distinguished by a bright, incongruous script component and wonderful behavior of the characters, located on the border of various social groups, systems, cultures and influenced by their contradictory norms of law, values, etc. - my definition based on the materials of the wiki), as well as Supernatural.
If you look at everything from the point of view of a normal person, the series is often anti-normal. Including subconsciously here instill in the viewer the opinion that you can rise from the dead, and death is trifling, as you can quickly “resurrection” with the help of dark magic. We are the last to be zombied throughout the seasons.
Vampires. It's an age-old topic. I first saw this series when I was 14 years old. I never thought I would watch a vampire show. But I never regretted it. This series is exactly what teenagers need. That’s what I needed at that age.
The Vampire Diaries doesn’t just have love lines. It reveals such life themes as true friendship, brotherly love, sometimes very difficult life situations, where only those people who you really need at one time or another can help. In these situations, true friendship, love, care are known.
The acting is just on top. They are so deeply immersed in their characters that you are as if you are in those situations that the hero experiences and go through them with them. You yourself begin to immerse yourself in the feelings of the hero, understand their worldview and actions. It's like the viewer becomes a hero!
It is also worth noting the cast itself, because it is really selected very well, despite the fact that the main features of Elena’s appearance do not match the book. But I want to say that Nina Dobrev very well reflected the character of her character in general. After all, the main thing that she was able to show Elena, which was waiting for fans of this saga.
After watching The Vampire Diaries, I learned a lot. I learned what brotherly love is really capable of, how hard it is to sacrifice everything you have. How cruel is love sometimes, and, of course, in what is known true friendship. These moments were very well able to show in this series, and for what I really want to review it.
Although the series has a high rating on the PC, and claims a place in the highest echelon, it makes no sense to touch on any of its aspects except the plot and lora. After all, it is enough to watch any series of any season to understand that this is a mediocre product. And he is at the level of CTC series from zero.
I dropped the Diaries three times at different stages, but still looked to the end. Almost to the end. The degree of scripted madness in the last season has heated my nerves so much that I said goodbye to the series forever on the 15th episode.
Cheap vampire drama that throws into the teenage hearts of adult aunts. The world of Diaries is not holistic, with a lot of conventions and gaps. The further the plot went, the more difficult it was to believe in what was happening and empathize with the heroes. None of them could evoke true sympathy. After the second season, it became difficult for the writers to move the story on vampires and werewolves alone and began to weave the evil of all mythologies and religions into the plot, which simply does not fit into the vampire world. For the sake of pathetic drama, the characters began to die and reborn literally every season. And after season 5, you don't believe anything.
To be fair, there were good villains (Kai) and interesting arches, but everything was spoiled by talentless screenwriters.
Very, very weak.
Forgiveness is always worthy of those who sincerely repent... but is it true that a person repeats what he did over and over again?
How often do you watch the series? I'm not often, because life is short, and there's so much to see. And having taken up the re-watching of The Diaries five years later, who would have thought that the feelings he would evoke were not the same as when I was at the under-30 club, but even deeper, sincere and emotional! The series has shaken the whole soul inside out, and towards the end of the 6th season gutted and the rest. ...
The opening episodes seem a bit bookish, but the further into the woods. Every movement of Stefan, every joke of Damon, every friendly conversation or tragic event gives a blow to the heart!
And it was even more interesting to watch all the characters when you are already, vaguely, but you know what will happen to them by the end.
To begin with, my favorite has always been Stefan versus Damon. I’ve always loved the good guys, and it’s hard for me to understand why the vast majority chose Damon, who became more attractive by finding a best friend in Bonnie, who was able to pull all his humanity out to the last drop, even though this feat was attributed to Elena. Damon’s love for Elena was always a manifestation of selfishness, he was not stopped by his brother or her family. The most important thing is to get it by any means, and that’s not normal. Stephen, on the other hand, always and adamantly followed his principle of the main virtue, and turned off humanity only in case of danger to his loved ones! He did not need a guiding star on the way to good, he made others the best versions of himself.
Take Caroline, who is my top female favorite. It was thanks to Stefan’s initial efforts that she became the most perfect vampire of the whole tale! What can I say about Starline's Peiring? That was the best thing that ever happened! And it was even more gratifying to watch from the first series the birth of their friendship, love and respect for each other. Then the thought of their future did not creep, for we unquestioningly believed in the love of Stephen for Elena.
The series has a lot of strong dramatic scenes, moments and turns. I also have no one to blame for the thoughtfulness of the plot, however ... vampires boast so much of their superiority, their immortality and strength, and the ways to kill them are almost as much as for an ordinary person. And as a vampire, you are less likely to survive, as the statistics of eight seasons show.
I do not want to find fault and detail, but since we are presented with a whole vampire universe with its own arches and laws, I would like to learn more about such trifles: why they need sleep, why they still get tired, and why they get drunk, because their body must regenerate and make up for such errors in a matter of minutes ... provided that they eat well!
All the way I was incredibly annoyed by Matt Donovan, who, with his hatred of vampires and evil spirits, could not see beyond his nose. “Vampires are killing people!” he shouted under every fence. Man, people kill people too, imagine!
Family is a saint! Is that true? All the most base and disgusting deeds of the heroes are justified by the protection of their loved ones, who will not fail to betray once again.
I'm sorry about the sound! What amazing music we lost in those days! Plumb tracks are perfect for such a gloomy vampire video sequence!
Magic in The Diaries also plays a huge role, but you can’t just conjure up ice cream or end up in Paris. Witches here are more serious and profound, their magic requires vast knowledge and experience, and there are not always loopholes to get around their enemy. All this adds to the good realism of what is happening.
Starting to watch a series about teenagers in a mystical town, we come to the conclusion that we watched an adult violent tragedy. The tragedy of life and death. Friendship and love.
Life is too cruel. If we stop believing in love, then why live?
I don’t know if this review will be positive or negative. I'll conclude as a result. I will try without spoilers, but there will be a lot of personal impressions.
After revisiting the recently forgotten Twilight saga, I realized that I wanted to see another vampire story. I remember that Twilight was once compared to The Diaries. I don’t really like to get into the series, because they take a lot of time, and watching the series a day is not mine, I always completely immerse myself in the plot until I look to the end. There were doubts, but still decided.
The plot is not original in general - two vampire brothers fell in love with one girl. All the intricacies of events revolve around this triangle. But it's not that simple, and more on that.
Honestly, the first series (or season, I don’t remember) was disappointing. Some scenes were very similar to "Twilight", caused déjà vu, so similar to the saga. The image of Stefan is a copy of Edward, hairstyle, manners, gestures, I had to remind myself that I was watching another film. There were also some meaningless dialogues, insincere expressions of emotions - the actors themselves did not believe in what was said. Girl models, always with ceremonial makeup despite the time of day and the situation. Guys are like picking athletes, respectively. Unnatural. Lots of drugs, alcohol, cruelty, early and fast sex. Bad teenage bullshit. But too much for a movie whose main audience is teenagers. That was the first time I wanted to finish watching the series. Before putting an end, I decided to read the negative reviews – it will be finally confirmed in the decision. But the result was the opposite, interested in how the directors still wrapped up the plot. And turning off the negative, I immersed myself in the spirit of the narrative.
In fact, it turned out that the story is interesting. If you do not focus on the above negative. How fast the first novel of the main characters seemed at first, it was so fascinating to watch the development of the second - a smooth transition from negativity to understanding and real passion (thanks to the actual novel of the actors, it was REAL, igniting). And the plot is not fixed on the main triangle, dynamic. Many new characters and stories, not frozen in one time, and backstory and different twists and turns of the plot. It is not even worth guessing what this or that character will be in the next episode, how he will change, and whether he will remain at all. And if it is removed from the plot, then temporarily or permanently.
But no matter how interesting it was to watch all the events, by season 5, I was tired of the insincere and illogical play of the main character. The lack of sincerity in the relationship is again the result of a real parting of the actors, and this is understandable. That was the second time I really wanted to finish watching. I think a lot of people stop at this stage. But still, having decided that it is impossible to make an assessment without looking to the end, I continued. No regrets.
The fact that Elena left the series, I think right. Since see above, insincerity plus (or minus) development as such was not, which is unacceptable for the main character. And the directors played that moment very right, leaving the possibility of a comeback. The series is no less interesting, on the contrary. The stories of the other heroes and the plot in general received an original development. Very pleased with the changes and growth of friends, especially Bonnie, rushing and straining in the first half of the series. Caroline in her play and plot is flawless, an exceptionally multifaceted developing character who evokes the most sympathy and understanding. And, by the way, more like the main character. Damon’s changes are not a literal change, because I immediately understood the pure deep essence and pain of this insecure guy under the guise of anger, aggression and so on. It was rather the revelation of the inner deep hidden under the influence of a bright feeling. The metamorphoses that occur with Stefan as a result led to the right decisions, and the logical conclusion of the epic. Contrary to most, I think the conclusion is right. The series is dramatic in essence, and could not be the result without losses. And despite the dramatic end of the season, the end of the story still remained bright.
And what happens in the end? It's a really epic story. Yeah, the show isn't perfect. Too much brutality and cruelty. There are illogical and unfinished relationships and events. Somewhere tight, and something overloaded. And something could have been better. But throwing it all away, this story is about mistakes and forgiveness, understanding, deep meaning in the value of interpersonal relationships, friendship, love and family. Makes you feel empathy, compassion and thought. And so

Do I recommend it? Yes, if you are willing to spend time and not dig into the negative.
I will probably reconsider, but not soon.
I was advised to watch this series when it started. When it was 'boom' there was no way to hide from vampires and Twilight. But then I didn't want to look at the vampire brothers. Something stopped. This is probably for the best.
In the first series, there are so many templates that I tried to hit myself on the forehead and exclaim “you’re fucking kidding!” I understand that the first series in principle exists only to check whether this topic will come to the public, and it is not necessary to equal it. But the first impression is not to be forgotten.
To be honest, in the first series I was hooked only by a raven. It was a pity when they got rid of him, and then they didn't even remember. That’s what half the cast did. Killed and forgotten, as if they did not exist. Yeah, the brutal vampire blood world. You don't have to be too sentimental.
And that's where the fun starts. There's a lot of sentiment here. Everyone loves each other, especially Elena. Everyone sacrifices everything for each other, especially Elena. And in general, the whole town seems to have been created to accumulate corpses around Elena. Nice, you can't say anything. But it's a novel, it always is. The whole world revolves around the main characters. But there's one thing. Secondary characters are just as important. They must have their lives, their goals, their principles. The developers began to think about this only on the 4th season, when the theme of the love triangle exhausted itself.
In general, by season 3, I could not understand how the vampire brothers could live so many years, if they have no recoil from their enemies and everything is like a support & #39; almost & #39; they are killed. And what did they actually do without Elena and her gang of friends? It was a dull and dull existence, not otherwise. It is not surprising that one, then the other brother went into emotional drunkenness, turning off humanity.
No, don't think about it, I really liked the series. Amazing dialogue. Many historical inserts, the authenticity of which I cannot judge, have never been interested in history. Excellent cast. The developers have created bright, memorable images that, although they did not become icons of modernity, were clearly not lost in the crowd.
Elena even slightly annoyed me with all her pacifism and maximalism. I understand that at the beginning of the series she is 17 years old, and her youth is characterized by impulses. But in this situation, the dumbness of the younger Salvatore was most striking. He allowed 17 girls to make decisions. He is more than 150 years old, he has more experience in everything without exception, but no, we will listen to the girl who has not traveled beyond her town. Love is blind, stupid and obviously mute. Well, come on... it's not for me to judge them. Let everyone decide for themselves whether it is right or not.
But let’s talk about the obvious mistakes.
The last two seasons have been terrible. It feels like the team has lost a writer, a cameraman, a director, and everyone else who knew how to make movies. There is no interesting series, no memorable scene. It's gray and dull. It looks dull attempt of developers to introduce family relations to a long-run mother. The developers are trying to introduce the second version of Delena in the form of Bonnie and Enzo. They're short. There is no passion, no spark, no love, not even an all-consuming devotion, which seems to be full here. But it doesn't feel like it. Everything looks artificial and fake.
The ending of the series is crumpled and completely... missing. If you expect to be told who lived after... you will be seriously disappointed. And although the idea of closing the circle of history with the same decision with which it all began seems logical. But still ... not enough. It must have been the loss of better people. We missed it. Or maybe it's just delayed. I had to finish the 6th season with a happy ending and run for other projects. But ... alas ...
Of the pluses (the first 6 seasons, about the existence of the last two I prefer to forget)
Amazing music. Both melodies and lyrics set the right tone, the right atmosphere. Some melodies are literally stuck in your head and are associated with certain scenes. That's how perfect they are.
Excellent selection of actors. If he's a villain, you know that at first sight. If you're nice, same story. No contradictions or misunderstandings. The actors played superbly, and even though it was full of fake tears, emotions went off the scale.
I just fell in love with Salvatore's house. Although we were shown only a few rooms and a basement, but... it is gorgeous. I'm not a fan of castles with their pretentiousness, but everything here is competently balanced. Nothing cuts the eye, nothing looks superfluous or unnecessary. Everything is so perfect.
Amazing work with light, the camera work is jewelry verified. All that glare, the change in focus ... looks just gorgeous. But the further you watch the series, the more often you notice that the actors are lined up in perfect pictures (tired of individual photo shoots to do what or not). I saw this in the Marvel films. But there's comics... and this is... Who knows what it is? Roman, detective, mysticism, horrors... Just a little bit. Soap opera will always be like that.
Finally, a few obvious blunders that amused me a lot:
- Ghosts are reflected in mirrors.
- Modern coffins in which vampires have been imprisoned for 1000 years.
Acrylic varnish is kept on the nails for more than 4 months. Nails obviously don’t grow if you’re stuck in one day.
- The light in the windows never corresponds to the time of day. And the days go by too quickly. Five minutes ago it was a day and it’s night and they keep talking about the same thing.
- Damon's hair is straight and curly. Did the developers not come up with a single decision, what should he have hair? Or forget to straighten / curl the long-suffering hair of the actor. No, probably straighten it out. It’s too ridiculous with straight hair.
- And do not forget about suspiciously liquid blood. I’m still gnawing at the question... what did the actors actually drink in such quantities? .
I will not say that I am a huge fan of all vampire themes, but it was impossible to break away from the Vampire Diaries since the first season in 2009.
Charismatic actors, a classic love triangle, unexpected twists and turns - all this will be, as will real monsters, blood, greetings from the past, which are definitely not expected.
About the actors a little separately: A wonderful cast - Nina Dobrev, embodied here in more than one image, handsome Ian Somerhalder, who from season to season, like good wine, only gets better, Paul Wesley - a master of minute reincarnation from a super good vampire, to a real monster, ready to arrange a bloody massacre!
And, of course, much more powerful without the appearance of Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillis, who then moved ' in a separate series, separated from DV, simply because they were so loved by the audience that they began to ask the showrunners to make a separate spin-off about them.
All the actors of the series are great in their seats, it is impossible to imagine anyone else in their roles, for all seasons you get so used to that when the series is over, you want to look at the second round, and another circle.
As for such serial accompaniments as special effects (where to talk about vampires without them!), as excellent soundtracks, the musical accompaniment of this series - a separate love and the opportunity to replenish the playlist - all this is, and is at a decent level.
The Vampire Diaries I see one minus - the series is over, and I did not promise to return, but is it worth scolding him for this?

The first three seasons are great for those who lack passion. The balance of romance, mysticism and drama is perfectly maintained. But with season 4 begins some endless urine, confused who stood on whom, amazed by the influx of heroes who merge with each other. You start to look at everything on rewind.
The most 'human' - Damon and Caroline. Characters, dynamics spelled out perfectly. In general, if it were not for Damon, she would have stopped watching - the only sexy and ironic character.
Everything revolves around the main character Elena - she always needs to be saved, comforted, and 80% of the characters die because of her. At some point it starts to get annoying, wondering why the writers did not come up with anything better.
Also, the heap of images, themes and references to different cultures turns the series into a mess: the Aztecs, and druids and shamans ...
But on the other hand, it's for the ages of 15-18, so the main thing is that there's love and magic there.
What about the series? Very mediocre, for vampire lovers with a bias in romance, and without a claim to high art and acting. And of course, it is difficult to get rid of the idea that this is a very similar copy of Twilight, even the main characters are similar, both in character and externally.
A purely teenage act. Beautiful Nina Dobrev, but how tired of season 2 of her character Elena reaction to everything that happens - intermittent breathing and ' Are you all right?'. More interesting is her second character, Katerina Petrova.
As far as Stefan is concerned, it's also standard, bad play, predictable. Much more interesting is his second side, here you can make sure that the actor still knows how to play! But he very quickly recovered from the disease, and again became boring and banal, and predictable.
Damon is a ray of light in this dreary snot current, but only for the first couple of seasons. Bright, angry, brash! But then it was turned into a copy of Stefan.
Caroline’s character is interested, her struggle with herself, her formation as a person, her change is very well and interestingly shown. Her relationship with Klaus is much more interesting than the rotten interactions of Elena and Stefan.
However, this interesting storyline slid and melted, entangled in the twists and turns.
The most superfluous characters are Elena's brother Jeremy and a witch girlfriend. If you remove them from the series completely, it will not change the plot. They're totally unnecessary.
Overall, the series is not disgusting, just boring to older audiences, and boring to everyone after season 3. Because all the evil characters are over, and the story sucking out of the finger began - it's always bad for a movie.
So my review is more neutral than negative. It's not positive either. Because it's too primitive, and it's a shame for some storylines that could have evolved into something interesting, but it didn't happen.
It’s like two different series for different audiences.
' The Vampire Diaries' one of the most successful works of the CW channel. Based on the eponymous series of books by L. J. Smith. and has nothing to do with other works about vampires, well, except for the vampires themselves. In fact, the series itself and from the print source moved quite far.
I love and hate this show at the same time. Why? Because for me, The Vampire Diaries 39, with Kevin Williamson’s active involvement and what the series turned into after he left, are two different series with the same actors. The chic spectacle rolled into a real dull soap with poor play, silly dialogue and character degradation. I will focus on writing a review of seasons 1-3, which are considered simply the best. Only thanks to them, 'The Vampire Diaries' can be put on a par with other very powerful projects.
In the small mysterious town of Mystic Falls, a young schoolgirl Elena is experiencing the death of her parents (Nina Dobrev). After she lost her dad and mom in a car crash, her mundane life, which Elena loved so much before, seems just routine. From friends want to hide, relations with the main athlete of the school Mett (Zach Roerig) have reached a dead end, classes in the support group are abandoned, and the younger brother Jeremy (Stephen R. McQueen) completely went crazy. Elena tries in vain to collect the wreckage of her former happy life until she accidentally sees from the back of a new student the mysterious Stefan (Paul Wesley), who moved to live with his uncle. An accidental collision in the school hallway becomes the beginning of a great love story, in which there will be a place for happiness, pain and disappointment. . .
The plot of the first 3 seasons is breathtaking. Kevin Williamson can play on feelings and emotions. He manages a stunning breathtaking story of tenderness and sincere love. The characters are very distinctive and well written. You can love them or hate them, but you will not remain indifferent. Each series is written and filmed with great sympathy for its cause. With the same care selected music and locations for events. Diaries & #39 had its own unique spirit and atmosphere. You're gonna love Mistek Falls! Each episode traditionally ends with an ach moment and you will look forward to including the next one already shaking hands.
The cast is young and little-known, but this is only on hand. Everyone is very good, and the acting is quite decent. Nina Dobrev very successfully reincarnated from Elena to Katherine. Paul Wesley does the same because his character Stefan has many inner demons and a secret black past. All characters have a sense of chemistry and interaction.

Mystic Falls does not have a very ordinary history, but residents who live in it are not who they seem.
This series is one of my favorites. A topical topic that will fascinate girls at all times. A 9-year story. To describe all seasons will be meaningless, as the main characters remain the same. Only problems, enemies and intrigue increase.
The story begins with a teenage girl, Elena, who suffers from the death of her parents. Her pain wants to beat over the edges, but for the peace of her friends, she doesn't show up. But everyone understands her loss, so Bonnie and Caroline try to distract her in every way possible.
Things slowly but slowly get better in Elena’s life until she encounters a mysterious stranger, Stefan. He is sophisticated, intelligent and also beautiful, the girl’s heart holds instantly, as does Stefan’s heart. They are created for each other, nothing can prevent them. Stefan's brother, the charming Damon, appears.
What lies behind the souls of these two brothers? How much are they hiding from everyone? And what terrible secret does Elena have to learn? The series answers these questions gradually, but no matter how it leaves a mystery in each series.
Mystic Falls doesn’t have an ordinary history, and the people who live in it are not what they seem. The scriptwriters tried hard, here you and vampires, werewolves, originals, hybrids, witches, hunters and many others.
For fans of these characters, this series is just a treasure. But if you also love love triangles, then this is definitely what you need!
The series looks in one breath, sometimes you lose track of time. All heroes deserve to be equal to them, everyone will have difficulties that they will have to go through. In the end, you will see how they have grown mentally and physically. The series of a generation of girls who divided into two camps: Stefan or Damon?

- I have a sinister plan. - What's the plan? But if I say it, it won't be so sinister.
The Vampire Diaries has a lot to do with this series. It was my first American TV series that I couldn’t watch until the end, this time I figured out why. We will discuss this film product, and at the end we will conclude and evaluate.
We can see from the description that the dominant genre here is drama. We will consider this series in the aggregate of all three genres, that is, drama, fiction and horror. What is the most important criterion for drama? Of course, acting, as they depend on what impact the film will have on the feelings and emotions of the viewer. For fiction, a very important genre is the plot and soundtrack. For horror in your turn, the atmosphere is very important. It is also possible to distinguish such a subgenre of horror and fiction as mythological creatures, they should inspire fear and admiration. These are the criteria by which we will evaluate The Vampire Diaries.
Acting: I can't complain about acting. Everyone played great, I believed their emotions and felt like I was standing or sitting next to them. What is most important to me about this criterion is that the characters are personalities, so that they have their own story and story development as the series progresses. It was all conveyed here incredibly. Heroes were not empty, but were indispensable parts of the entire mechanism. Especially I want to highlight Nina Dobrev (" Three X: World domination), who in this series played 5 completely different roles and constantly showed a master class. When she was replaced by Alyssa Lewis and Mackenzie Britt, The Vampire Diaries lost a lot and these 2 actresses did not become as close as Dobrev. In addition, it is necessary to highlight Paul Wesley ("Fallen), who played 4 different roles and again proved himself chic. I can't go through Ian Somerhalder ("The Sweet Couple) who played Damon Salvator. But most of all, I want to highlight Michael Trevino ("Escape), who played the role of Tyler Lockwood and Stephen R. McQueen ("Time Rescue), who played the role of Jeremy Gilbert. On the last two and saw the development of their characters from series to series, they both did a great job. Others also played well, the rules of “Kinopoisk” do not allow you to write about everyone.
Elena Gilbert survived the death of her parents and did not understand the meaning of life, when suddenly Stefan Salvator and his brother Damon appear in the city of Mystic Falls. This is where Santa Barbara begins. The story is exactly the criterion that I did not like very much. There were sharp plot twists, a large number of ticks and a bunch of stamps. But the most important thing that caused not to say that dislike, but rejected from viewing are moments when the directors made the wrong choice, removing one character and adding another meaningless. For example, I didn’t like the fact that the directors quickly abandoned Catherine Pierce. She was my favorite character, and she was a very interesting person in her own right. I will say more of all the American TV series that I watched her image, among female heroines, was the most memorable and intriguing. The story could have been much better around her. The plot itself until the middle of season 5 is very interesting and addictive, after which some horror begins, especially season 8. Directors connect heroes who don’t fit each other at all, and you sit there not understanding what’s going on. The other question is, should we let go of hell and paradise? I think that was superfluous, because the show is completely different, it’s not Supernatural. In total, the ending of the series is as boring and not interesting, it also failed to take emotions. From seasons 6 to 8, it was a real torture.
Soundtrack: The musical accompaniment was very pleasant to hear. It coincided with what was happening on the screen. He played where he needed to and was nowhere else. In other words, the music conveyed the atmosphere very well. “Thinking Of You” by Katy Perry, Butch Walker; “Never Say Never” by The Fray, Ben Wysocki, David Welsh; “All I Need” by Within Temptation; “Fleur Blanche” by Orsten; and my favorite “My Superman” by Santigold. Music for every taste.
Atmosphere and mythological creatures: To be honest, the atmosphere of mysticism or horror I have never experienced in all the time watching. Because of this, this criterion is also not very strong. I think because, first and foremost, The Vampire Diaries is drama, not horror fiction. As for the Werewolf (Werewolf) and Vampires, again, as in most TV series and films of the XXI century, vampires are more beautiful and stronger, and the Werewolf does not distinguish anything from ordinary wolves, so this thing is also not very made.
So, The Vampire Diaries is the average drama, fantasy and horror movie I’ve seen. I have not read the novel by L. J. Smith of the same name, so I cannot determine the authenticity of what is shown. I consider this series as a separate film. The series raises the issue of love, we are told that love can cross any curse and through any trials, if it is real. Never turn away from a loved one. You "The Vampire Diaries" may be interested in good acting and good soundtrack, as well as at first an interesting and addictive plot. I recommend watching, but not everyone will like it. In fact, this series deserves a score of 5 to 6, but due to childhood memories, I will score 2 points from the top.

However, I will not give him a positive assessment, because low-grade vampire soap like Twilight or this series has lowered the decent genre to such a bottom that it even becomes ashamed. The smearing of love suffering, although it evokes condescending chuckles and words - well, it will do - is still a bit boring, and only fits as something that rumbles in the background. And yet there are no beautiful guys in the series - for some reason, the creators decided to put actors with such an ordinary, fresh appearance as the main beauties of the school, that even my girl's heart had nothing to admire. 4 out of 10 Original
I remember how I was drawn into this mess. I was finishing school when the first season came out. Yes, it was a time when the world went vampire crazy. And the girls just freaked out from the cute bloodthirsty vampires, but with a soul, with human feelings and problems. Being naive and unwise, I gave in to my high school friend’s persuasion. I watched three seasons of this series and I loved it. It wasn't really bad at first. The plot seemed intriguing, funny, it was interesting what would happen next. What’s remarkable is that even then I couldn’t stand the idea of a love triangle. I think the topic is a little exhausted. And even for 2009, she was tormented and dissatisfied by every writer and director. When I went to college, I didn’t even think about the show. It feels like I grew out of it. Deep down, I was a little embarrassed that I was wasting my time watching this show. It would be better to play sports, to be as drawn as the Salvatore brothers. In this series, everyone is so cute, cute guys, just the dream of every schoolgirl. This is the bad boy Damon and the crazy Stefan. Faceless, ever-suffering Matt. Matt is the meanest character in the series. Seriously, Zach Roerig just went through the whole show with one expression. I can’t understand how it was not leaked in the first seasons. In the series and for guys there are cute young actresses, whose play also leaves much to be desired. And so, having abandoned the series for many years, I suddenly heard that it was being closed down and then a sporting interest woke up in me. Since the show is closing, why not finish what it started? I decided to watch the remaining seasons. But a little bit about the plot and the characters to start with.
Yes! Stefan is good, and Damon is the opposite. Elena is a gentle, innocent girl who recently lost her parents and suffers endlessly from it. He is separated from everyone around him and experiences it alone. She has a younger brother, but he doesn't care about her. He sees solace in drugs and drink. Here on the horizon appears valiant Stefan and instantly fills the void that formed in Elena after the loss of parents. And then the question brews. How can there be a void where it is originally empty? Elena is an empty, not multifaceted personality. Simple, no special principles. Painful for cute vampires. Damon is an evil, uncompromising vampire who at first causes a lot of problems, and later becomes a diligent young man. All because he fell in love with sweet Elena. Everyone who falls in love with Elena automatically becomes spineless, boring and uninteresting. Matt is a great example of Elena morally destroying guys. Seriously, I can't get this guy out of my head. He's been so depressed all eight seasons. Now Stefan. He's boring, boring, eats animals. But Elena doesn't mind at all. Always fighting Damon and trying to instill in him social norms of behavior. How not to mention Caroline? The only character that develops and even for the better. They are sweet (who would doubt, right?), initially bitchy, naive, but later becomes more mature, more reasonable and even does not hesitate to drop a little wisdom. I don't want to talk about Bonnie, I just don't like her and there doesn't have to be a reason for that. Later, the real vampires, namely the originals, appeared. Harsh, ruthless. They have their own family problems and only sometimes affect the main characters, humiliating them and in every possible way showing their helplessness. Over time, they will go into their own project and here begins a real thrash current performed by the writers. On that below.
The constant resurrection of deceased characters. For one antagonist, there's always a couple more. Each new antagonist is stronger and more insane than the previous one. The writers tried different combinations in the form of love pairs. They seem to have decided to arrange an attraction where they will watch the reaction of compassionate fans. With each season, the main characters become obsolete. They are no longer interesting to watch. They're disgusting to watch. They become predictable, nauseously sentimental. At the end of each episode, you will have a long dialogue about how hard life is for them. And lots of stuff. I could write a whole paragraph in a few thousand words, but it doesn't make any sense. I think I've made enough arguments. The series ran out after the fourth season. Yes, the first four seasons really went nowhere.
I would like to mention Nina Dobrev. She's my compatriot. Yes, she is very beautiful, yes, I would like to support her projects. But the bottom line is, she just doesn't have normal projects! Her game does not stand out against many other talentless beauties, which in Hollywood in bulk.
Ian Somerhalder, by the way, I really liked Lost. And in DV he was initially not bad, although he overplayed sometimes.
Paul Wesley is a faceless actor. It is no wonder that after the end of the series he has no projects.
The show wasn’t a masterpiece, it wasn’t a bad one, and my naive, teenage brain would have rated it higher, but now that I’ve formed my opinion on what a great show should be, that’s the rating. For the first 4 seasons and places not a bad soundtrack.
I tried to watch this series for the first time and it didn’t work. As I watched the first episode, I felt like I was watching Twilight. Well, first of all, the whole plot, or rather, probably the whole series is based on one character, namely a girl named Elena Gilbert, although at first we were convinced that this is the story of a vampire - Stefan Salvatore. Boys, let’s go, we’ve been cheated. The main character, like the actress, can not carry us the whole series, well, too she is not charismatic. Take the same Dexter. The hero can bear all the burden. Another example is Wonder Woman. Compare.
The first season is very difficult to watch. I repeat, but he gives too much "Twilight", only the first has a huge plus in the form of an older brother - Damon. That's where I realize he's unconscious, but he's dragging the whole show. The only character who has scenes, even reluctant to rewind and do not want to forget about the series as a nightmare. We also put the same character, probably think that Damon in a skirt – Catherine Pierce or Katerina Petrova. Well, she can't pull this part from our Nina. She's got all the showiness going on. It's like she's yelling at the viewer, "I'm a bitch."
Look at Catherine Tramell (Basic Instinct) or Miranda Priestley (The Devil Wears Prada). These are real bitches, and here is just a girl who effectively affects her hips.
The second season already looks easier, although the fact that the plot revolves around Elena is annoying. The third season I forgot about the shortcomings of the first two seasons and looked very easy. The fourth one did not disappoint, although it began to feel that the series took the wrong landmark. Season five was already a bit boring. The sixth diluted boredom with a new and very charismatic character. The seventh and the eighth will be the same. The theory that Elena is the center of the series was confirmed. And it's all bad and dull gum that you're tired of chewing.
It was also disappointing that I never saw the Salvatore brothers. At first everything seemed good, but the writers could not continue it.
For 3 great seasons + cool Damon + great soundtrack. I'm going to put it that way.

Let me just say that my review was written for the entire series. I sat down to watch the series inadvertently, literally, to please my girlfriend, who was tired of watching “only what I like.” And while watching the first few episodes of the opening season, I hid yawning, as they were unusually boring, while we were introduced to all the characters and basic folklore, then the series suddenly began to appeal to me. Let me make another reservation here: the series is mainly devoted to teenagers, while to a greater extent, and this is not discrimination, it will be interesting for the female half of the population. Here sometimes very muddy and too sweet feelings, love experiences and all that. Yes, and the main character initially still a girl and all her throwing of the category “who do I love?” will haunt the viewer until the final season. Because of the same, I barely read the Twilight tetralogy and decided never to touch the film adaptations.
Now for another. The series, albeit enriched with its own mythology regarding such fantasy creatures as vampires, werewolves, sirens and others, but it turned out interesting. Everything in this series revolves around the town where the main characters of the film live, namely: Mystic Falls. The name of the town is appropriate and for 8 (!) seasons of this fairy tale about love we will reveal all its secrets. What I liked: the authors quite well delved into their own mythology: when a season or two later in some critical situation, in which the characters found themselves, we reveal a possible way out of the situation, and the explanation is both unexpected and logical (corresponding to mythology), you feel admiration.
But still the strongest and most interesting were the first 4 seasons, when the characters were consistently faced with all the dangers. Next, I was haunted until the finale by the feeling that the narrative had been tortured and forcibly stretched out for a few more seasons, although it could have been completed earlier. Despite the series’ mystical aura in general and the dark charm of its narrative, the seventh season of the series turned out to be, in my opinion, the weakest and precisely because it is too dark. This can be justified by the difficult situation in which the heroes found themselves, but in fact, the absence of Nina Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert, for 6 seasons twisted the feelings of the Salvatore brothers - Stefan and Damon, is acutely felt. Since watching this series is supposed to root for one of the brothers, I will say that personally I always rooted for Stefan.
The eighth season was short, with only 16 episodes compared to 22 (or 23) in the remaining seasons. He was finally sucked out of the finger, but was called to finally complete this long 8-year history of endless desperate exploits, betrayals, all kinds of threats from representatives of local folklore. The ending turned out to be good, even though Nina Dobrev appeared only at the very end, so that the final could really be called logical, not ragged. Thank you for that, because we know very well that she was absent for almost two seasons due to the fact that she broke up with Ian Somerhalder, the actor who played Damon.
It is sad when the actors’ relationships in real life affect the plot of the series as a whole. It is not known how the plot would have turned out had it not been for Nina Dobrev in a relationship with Ian Sommerhalder, and then they did not part with each other. But we have what we have.
Since I watched the whole series, when all seasons have already been released, I will say that it will objectively take from one to three months to view it depending on your employment. And watching it in a row is pretty annoying, you note all the “jambs” of the narrative, and they are, do not doubt. For example, I did not have that feeling when I watched 6 consecutive seasons of Game of Thrones.
The series will appeal mainly to teenage girls, if they for some reason have not yet wiped it to the holes. Romantics and couples also recommend it to watch. But in principle, the vampire/werewolf fashion has finally passed.
Here I recently watched “Gossip Girl” and remembered about the second conditionally girlish series, which I watched and did not watch, but dropped after season 3. They were (as you might have guessed) the Vampire Diaries. In general, the guys in terms of the amount of content with vampires give the impression that they really exist, and if without this, then “Vampire Diaries” in my understanding was an attempt to make an “intellectual” movie about them. In contrast to all that pink content. Did it work? Not more than yes.
But when it comes to seasons 1 and 2, something happened. Initially, the series was filmed on a book, but later the creators of the series moved away from it and began to sculpt a sec. The plot of the series was, in general, interesting and mysterious and the presentation of the script was quite normal. Especially when you compare The Vampire Diaries to other content in the niche of similar series. And this is not only “Twilight”, and dozens of degenerative low-budget TV series and films on the theme of witches / vampires / succubus / werewolves, etc., against the background of which the series was almost the most adequate representative of the genre, not counting “True Blood”.
Speaking of actors, I’ll probably start with Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) – I didn’t like him at first. Dirty bad ghoul. His place is at stake. But learning more about him, there was a sympathy that does not change all of the above. Ian is the most charismatic character in the series, playing 100%. The role of the ray in the career.
Nina Dobrev (Helena Gilbert/Katherine) – Unlike Christian Stewart, Nina Dobrev has acting skills. She has to play two different characters. Nina is too intelligent for the dreamy idealistic and somewhere stupid Elena, but with the evil bitch Catherine she coped completely. In general, Catherine added to the series light and drama.
Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) is the opposite of his brother. Stefan is a true and honest vampire. Although Paul Wesley had to reincarnate anyway from his character, as well as from the character of Joseph Morgan (Claus), there was a feeling of not playing. And Klaus is completely useless in the series. Like his terrible sister.
Well, you can also note Kat Graham (MK Ultra kitten) and a girl with a sunny smile Candice King.
As for the couples, although I don't know how it ended, I still see Damon with Catherine and Stefan with Elena. Everyone would get what they wanted.
In the third season, the series just rolls. It seems that the writers, having received bakshish for a successful two seasons, scored on the adaptation of the book, began to drink, smell and prick, and then sit down to write the script. To stretch the series as much as possible. All these chases after the white phallus in the form of a special aspen stake ... Eh. Even remembering is sick. What did they make of a seemingly good series? Your heart is bleeding. And the fact that under what finger-sucking pretexts in the series returned the deposed characters. What pain, what pain.
Perhaps I will one day decide to watch the other 5 seasons, but as I imagine what kind of nonsense awaits me, then immediately the desire disappears.

“The Vampire Diaries” is a popular youth series. I long and stubbornly believed that this was just a parody of Twilight and was extremely skeptical. But curiosity prevailed. I'm so glad I was wrong. “DV” became much closer to me than the aforementioned franchise. Yes, there were absurd inconsistencies, illogical actions and shortcomings, the heroes died and were resurrected many times. But the pros definitely outweigh. You have to respect the work that a whole team has worked hard on. I ended up watching all the seasons in record time in one breath, unable to take my eyes off.
This series completely refutes the common stereotype that television has a destructive effect on people. On the contrary, it teaches you to love and value your family and friends above all else. They are those for whom we live, for whom we care and who we let into our hearts. You need to take care of them.
Here you will not see a drop of bombast, nor outright incompetence or vulgarity. Even the bed scenes are filmed erotically beautifully.
Mystic Falls is a fictional small town, a once quiet place where all residents have known each other since childhood. The calm and order were broken after the arrival of the mysterious Salvatore brothers. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert and her younger brother Jeremy are orphaned after their parents died in a terrible car accident. It is difficult for them to recover from loss and adjust to normal life. Returning to school after the summer holidays, Elena meets a mysterious newcomer, a meeting with whom becomes fatal for her. A mutual attraction flares up between them, which later develops into pure and innocent love. Thus, everything that was included in the plans is previously destroyed, and fate disposes differently, involving the heroes in the whirlpool of rapidly unfolding supernatural events, ancient spells, magical artifacts and witchcraft rites. The city is filled with otherworldly objects (vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts), chaos reigns.
The cast showed complete dedication, colorfully performing their roles on the screen.
Damon Salvatore is a cynical, impulsive, witty villain, the standard of the classic vampire. It shocks, frightens and attracts. Outbursts of his anger often lead to outrages and cruel reprisals against innocent people. However, he is not alien to compassion, pain and the desire to protect loved ones. Ian Somerhalder is perfect: infernal beauty, unique facial expressions, a brazen crooked smile, a slender toned figure. The actor instantly became the idol of dreamy young ladies of different age categories. It has a zest, a natural charm.
Stefan Salvatore is a calm, wordless, modest young man. Unlike his bloodthirsty brother, he tries to live peacefully among people, not standing out from the general mass. Eating the blood of animals, he tries to suppress thirst. It is not easy for him to control his instincts, because the essence of the beast conflicts with the remnants of humanity. By the way, in the guise of the Ripper maniac Paul Wesley is incredibly impressive. It is hard to believe how a friendly, courteous guy in an instant turns into a deranged monster, tearing apart everyone around.
Elena Gilbert is a beautiful, excellent student, a star of the school. He is sincere, kind, sympathetic, able to forgive. She is devoid of selfishness and is a good example of a loyal friend and loving sister. But sometimes her excessively correct behavior and excessive pride are pretty annoying.
Another thing, Katherine Pierce (Katherina Petrova) is a sexual intriguer, hypocritical blackmailer, a sneaky manipulator, an insidious and dodgy predator, and just a vicious bitch. They are used to achieving their goals, even if they have to go to the dead. Nina Dobrev is a stunningly beautiful girl and a delightful actress, amazingly embodied two completely opposite images!
Caroline Forbes is a heroine whose evolution in terms of personality is striking. In season 1, she appears as a stupid, accessible, envious, obsessive talker. But, God, how did it blossom after the conversion! Open, positive, cheerful, responsible. She can’t lie, she can always be trusted. Even in the most difficult situations, she is able to think soberly, and yet she is not without a sense of compassion. Beautiful girl with a sweet smile, as if glowing from the inside.
Bonnie Bennett is a caring and devoted friend, always helping and saving friends, sacrificing herself and her loved ones for the benefit of others. And concurrently a powerful witch, who is subject to almost any spell.
Klaus Mikaelson is a powerful ancient hybrid vampire. Audacious, unpredictable, calculating, at first glance, heartless, but behind an insensitive beast lies an understanding and sane nature, able to love, but not able to show it. And his attitude towards Caroline is beyond words. How tenderly he looks at her. Joseph Morgan literally lives his role, reliably reflecting a wide range of emotions on his face - rage, resentment, emotional torment, even goosebumps running, no pretense.
The series, originally built on a love triangle and focused on teenagers, gradually overgrown with new and new faces, the emergence of unforeseen circumstances, sometimes turning everything upside down. The romantic line became superficial and no longer held a leading position.
Some episodes were so filled with despair that they left me confused and depressed. Repeatedly, a lump rolled up to the throat and tears rolled from the eyes.
Against whom only the protagonists did not have to fight: Doubles, Originals, Heretics, Wanderers, Clan of Twins, Arsenal, Sirens. After getting rid of one problem, another one immediately appeared. Poor citizens have long felt safe, dreaming of living at least one day without hassle. In the city came a stable mourning, funerals turned into a routine, and coffins and crypts became integral companions of the main actors.
It's always a shame to part with the heroes you get used to. I will miss them as friends with whom I spent unforgettable cozy evenings. Together with them, I experienced pain and longing, rejoiced at their victories, sympathized with their defeats, empathized with their grief, was inspired by their actions, admired their love and bonds of friendship, fell into despair, lost one of them, disappointed with betrayal, indescribably proud of their exploits. They were happy when they found their happiness.
The excellent last series crossed out all possible shortcomings of the series and enchantingly put an end. It is exciting to realize how long and thorny the heroes went to find peace. Probably, with such a sweep of the plot and the inexhaustible enthusiasm of the creators, the supply of ideas would not soon be exhausted. But you have to be able to leave beautifully and on time.
Fascinating soundtracks require special attention. My regular playlist was replenished with many lyrical compositions, which I listened almost "to the holes".
I am so happy to have spent my time watching The Vampire Diaries.
An exciting, addictive and high-quality series, delighting with famously twisted plot twists, inviting a gloomy atmosphere, talented actors, and competently selected songs. Don’t miss it by relying on dissatisfied reviews. He does not bother, does not clog his head, allowing you to relax, relax and forget about everyday problems.

The Vampire Diaries is a beautiful story about how the devils try to find love. Elena Gilbert is a girl who is left completely alone in this world: her brother is not very eager to establish contact with her, and her aunt does not understand the depth of teenage mental wounds. At the most difficult moment of Elena’s life, a certain Stefan Salvatore appears – a guy who is shrouded in a haze of mystery and something mysterious, unsaid. As the story progresses, we learn that Stefan and his brother, Damon Salvatore, go hand in hand. Damon Salvatore is a brutal, aggressive, impulsive macho who wants everything and everyone. Spending half his life in wild drunks with girls whose names he does not even bother to remember, Damon suddenly realizes that he lived wrong, and the reason for this is his brother’s girlfriend – Elena.
The story oozes with sweet vanilla overtones: even the worst in the soul is good, behind any bad action lies hope for the best. This is a teenage series, despite the fact that it has a rating of 16+, so the romantic component is natural.
I’m probably going to be biased in my review, because Julie Plec’s pretty skinny script won’t be good anymore. Kevin Williamson leaves the cast of the creators of the series at the beginning of this series, and begins a journey through the slanted beautiful original series “The Vampire Diaries”. If before all the details had a clearly justified position, then after his departure, the storylines appear out of nowhere and disappear with the same rapidity. Many characters do not carry any semantic or emotional load. The words of the actors have the same weight as the words in the songs of Disney musicals. You can often be a prophet and predict what will happen in the next series or even season. The rational component is gradually disappearing - it is sad. A well-thought-out PR campaign provides this series with a good audience, but as a result, this does not help and the ratings of this show go below the declared mark.
The only one who does this is the composer. Such playlists as in the series of this series will envy more than one Hollywood film.
It is worth noting the work of operators. The angles from which they shoot actors are beautiful.
I would like to give this series a high rating. I would like my review to be positive, but it is not. The series had a good approach, he gave high hopes, but did not live up to them. So alas and ah.
My rating of this series is 2 out of 10 (one point for operators, one point for musicians).
It was sad to part with this series, but the time to say goodbye to him and finish the project really came.
I’ve been watching it for the last seven years, getting to know the first season when it was filmed in its entirety. I will never forget how I drove my nose at first and didn’t want to watch a disk slipped to me by a friend, but as soon as I took it, I overpowered the entire season in two days and became a fan of this story.
What can I say? The first seasons were strong, dynamic and with each series gaining momentum. Until the fourth season, the series remained at its height and made us eagerly expect new episodes. Since the fifth season, something has gone wrong. If earlier new characters fascinated and their stories were given a considerable part of screen time, and they were taken to reveal them in full, then the characters who sharply appeared in the fifth season and later, who so quickly broke into history, played their role and disappeared so quickly that it became even unclear whether they should be introduced into the plot. Only yesterday they were dangerous adversaries, and it seemed that they would soon take the role of the central antagonist, who would linger in history for a long time and cause a lot of trouble, when suddenly they were disposed of and forgotten about them amid new problems.
The fifth and sixth seasons were a spectacle of average lousyness for me, until the seventh season, which completely changed the format of the story and added action and new significant characters, revived my hope that I would hardly want to part with the Vampire Diaries one day. But I was wrong, the final season corrected that. Although the eighth season also kept in suspense, the main characters continued to grow and develop, and the story did not stand still, the plot continued to slide into nowhere and constantly jumped from mesmerizing scenes to uncomfortably delirious, which was difficult to find. As a result, I did not regret watching the series, but I was also glad that work on it was completed and did not sink the project further.
Many thanks for this Nina Dobrev. Her departure was the impetus for new ideas embodied in the series in life, but also pushed it to completion, which was very convenient. Eight seasons were more than enough to reveal and show this huge world of vampires, werewolves and other evil spirits, the concentration of which was a primitive at first glance town called Mystic Falls.
Needless to say, the history of the city and many families were turned upside down and touched on an incalculable number of times, showing from all sides. Sometimes it even became delusional. It seemed that in this city there was not a single person or creature whose kind once simply lived and existed. Everyone has a special history of the life of their ancestors, and to leave at least someone aside for a change is simply impossible.
Figured and more than once all sorts of pairings , which had no end and edge, and if the formation of some of them was quite logical, after the appearance of some wanted only to spread hands. Especially here, of course, Caroline Forbes was singled out, who was greatly changed for the better, but who by chance had to meet the kind male half of her acquaintances. It seems that the writers are so carried away with finding a couple for her that they completely forgot in what light put essentially a positive character.
There is no limit to my joy that the characters have changed so much from what they were in the first seasons, and that most of all these changes were experienced by the strong, intelligent and loyal Caroline, caring, purposeful and principled Matt and finally found Bonnie.
I can not help but rejoice that until the last were not forgotten such characters as Vicky, Tyler (just a pity, this character was so mediocrely merged), Jeremy, Elizabeth Forbes, the witch Joe and of course the family of Elena in full, as well as many others. Despite everything, the writers of the series, for which I thank them very much, did not miss the opportunity to remind them of their importance and significance.
A huge plus was the fact that by the end of the story, fraternal relations and the topic of the importance of the family figured first. It was really worth it, because what began the bloody story, finally found a solution, which is impossible not to be appeased. Given the Salvatore brothers’ past relationships and lingering grievances, it was the best screenwriters could show.
There is a lot to write about this series. He gave us a whole world - somewhere awkward, somewhere brilliant, memorable and shaking from delight to trembling. The writers showed everything they could in it, and even if something was superfluous, I will never regret the time spent on this series and may even revise it over time and far more than once.
Wonderful actors, heroes who grew, developed, changed from year to year and never got stuck with one state, an exciting plot, beautifully selected music, the very atmosphere of mystery, tension - all this captured the audience for 8 years, and no matter how significant the disadvantages were as a result, the pros will always overlap them.

This is not the only way to get rid of it. It was worth it. Bravo!
The Vampire Diaries are on the same shelf as Twilight, only stretched over several years. The series emerged on the wave of success of the vampire saga, released a year before it began. But here’s what is interesting: the saga has ended, and the fans of the “Diaries” did not decrease. They were drawn, like me. If you discard all the pink snot about love and blah blah blah blah, the plot is interesting.
More specifically, snot. Two vampire brothers fall in love with the same human girl. It would seem that it is already clear in which direction the plot will turn. In Twilight, a vampire and a wolf are two brothers. What's next? The fact that with their arrival in the city of Mystic Falls appeared a lot of evil spirits. And it came: witches, hunters, doubles ... Despite my bias against everything that echoes Twilight, I liked the series. After the first two episodes, I didn’t pay attention to vampires or any fantastic labuda. I was already interested in whether they would kill Silos, whether Jeremy would be with Vicky, whether Damon would find Katherine and whether he would get rid of his unexplained cruelty and bloodlust, etc.
The series is worth watching even just for the sake of handsome Ian Somerhalder, who will soon become a dad. Congratulations. This man is great, especially in the role of the cynical and cruel vampire Damon. After losing the only love of his life, he created a shell of indifference around him. Hiding the pain behind the wall of poop. But if you get to the bottom of it, you can see the still scared, insecure, just a good guy. Like any girl, I wanted to believe that love could heal all his wounds.
The spat between Ian and Nina Dobrev has led to Elena being absent in the last two seasons. I think the fans were upset, but not enough to stop watching the series. I don’t understand how you can “dump” a series if you remove one of the main characters. The show is still the same. Isn’t it interesting to see this story to the end? I watched, and I want to say that the presentation of the happy ending of the producers of the series is a bit peculiar, I did not imagine everything.
“Dnenviki” is the same “Twilight” I said, but now, after eight inseparable years, I have concluded that there is much less in common between them than I always thought. The Diaries covers a huge range of topics: love, family, friendship, forgiveness and redemption. Is there really a way to atone for all their sins or will the heroes have to burn forever in hell for everything they do?
Definitely a great show. And his coolness is growing with each season. I want to note that the real mover began after Nina left the project, because the love line, on which the whole plot was mainly held, fell off, and the producers had to get out, coming up with more and more twisted situations and epic scenes.
Yeah, it's a good show. I am not going to review it.
The best seasons are 1-3 and 7. Season 6 was also good thanks to Chris Wood (4-5 seasons are also interesting, just not very hooked me personally).
The best villain (or rather villains) - Klaus and Kai ... and Catherine, of course)).
Worst villain (more precisely - villain!) - Serena Sybil (Cad also did not impress).
Best pair - 1. Damon and Elena; 2. Enzo and Bonnie; 3. Caroline and Klaus.
Best pair of friends - 1. Damon and Bonnie; 2. Damon and Alaric.
Heroes you adore - Damon Salvatore, Kai Parker.
Heroes "extinct" by the end of the series - Stefan, Caroline, Alaric.
Heroes who became more interesting from season to season — Bonnie, Enzo.
Heroes you don’t remember unless they appear in some series: Vicky Donovan, Matt Donovan, Tyler Lockwood.
Heroes "about nothing" (it is not clear why they were introduced into the storylines): Dr. Meredith Fell, Atticus Shane, Dr. Wes Maxfield, April Young, Pastor Young, Aaron Whitmore, Sarah Nelson, Oscar and many, many other similarly incomprehensible heroes. Ms. Gibbons (a woman under suggestion who let vampires in or out of the house) looked more organic than all these characters combined.
Nina Dobrev better played Catherine, but Elena in her performance with each season more and more bored, sometimes infuriated. I thought that with the departure of Nina will be worse, but, it turned out that the series blossomed without her, some characters immediately revealed in a new way. However, closer to the end of the series, I wanted Elena to be part of it not for one series or just in the memories of the heroes, but a full participant in all events.
The series did not like the storyline with heretics, werewolves were also pissed.
The series is called "The Vampire Diaries" - the creators, as they could, tried to keep one of the main components of their television project - keeping vampire diaries. In my opinion, they did well. At some point, the plot moved away from this, but smoothly everything returned to its place.
Almost all the flashback series were interesting.
The musical component of the series is amazing. I didn’t know many people until I watched the series. Each song approached a specific event, creating the right mood.
Humor is also good. A lot of jokes are top class.
Separate "thank you" to the creators of the series for dance scenes, school dance evenings; competitions in which heroes participated, thematic parties; joint trips of heroes in search of adventure; loyalty to family people and family traditions, loyalty to their friends and in general, for revealing the very concept of "friendship".
The series showed that there are no perfect and, at the same time, showed how to love.
It is sad that everything is over, after all, for many fans these 8 years - a whole life period during which they grew up, copied the style of clothing of their favorite heroes (what to hide - fashion trends were well traced in the series), chose a life and professional path and all this time watched "The Vampire Diaries". All the heroes of the series became relatives. We were happy and excited with them.
The series became a cult, as at one time became a cult for someone series "Friends" or "Beverly Hills 90210".
Having swallowed a lump in my throat from the realization that the series I had been watching for 8 years had ended, I decided to finally write a review. Over the years, I have really loved so many of the characters in The Diaries. At the time of watching the last episode, I felt as if I was again at the graduation school and tears shed like watching Hachiko.
So, I don’t see the point in writing what this story is about, but I can say that it has everything: love, friendship, loyalty, betrayal, loss, hatred, but despite everything, faith in your loved ones and a better future. There were, of course, shoals (a lot of blunders in the plot, as well as, to put it mildly, a weak season 7), but I am ready to close my eyes to this, since many charismatic characters, intricate relationships, especially between brothers, the intricacies of the plot - all this made me watch the series for so many years and speculate about what will happen next.
So, I would like to mention the characters that I am particularly attached to.
Elena Gilbert is the main character of the first 6 seasons, but despite the absence of actress Nina Dobrev in the last two seasons, everything, one way or another, revolves around her. She is strong in character, has experienced as much as not everyone can. She's had a lot of moral ups and downs, but it only makes her character more realistic. Nina Dobrev, in my opinion, is more suitable than anyone else for this role.
Damon Salvatore. Oh, without actor Ian Somerhalder, the series would have lost a lot. Day has really come a long way from antagonist to hero, but even so, you love him from the first shot. Yes, he does, but he does it with such a smile.
Stefan Salvatore is the most controversial character in the series. At first it is terribly infuriating with its eternal morality, but then you learn its history and begin to sympathize and sincerely empathize.
Bonnie Bennett. She always sacrifices herself for the sake of loved ones, completely forgetting about her happiness, very strong and loyal. As the plot progresses, it becomes more cold-blooded, but its best features remain unchanged. You can love her or not, but she certainly deserves respect.
Of course, the list does not end there. Yes, there are the main characters who disappoint (Caroline, Matt, Tyler), but by and large, the characters, both central and secondary, positive and negative, get my respect. Alaric, Enzo, Jer, Lexi, John, Catherine, Klaus, Kai, Joe and many others. It's a shame to break up with them.
In general, thank you to the creators for your favorite series, and the actors for the embodiment of characters that will forever remain in my memory.
In general, despite some shortcomings, due to the huge attachment to the series, I put “The Vampire Diaries”
10 out of 10
Vampires. One of the most popular and favorite topics in our society. There is probably no one who does not know about them. According to classical novels and various legends, vampires are monsters that feed on human blood, they are not inherent in anything human. But over time, this image has undergone romanticization. Vampires were portrayed as struggling with their inhuman nature and capable of high feelings. This is exactly what vampires are about in this series.
“Previously on the Vampire Diaries..."” For 8 years, this phrase has been wildly popular among viewers of various countries. This is where every episode of The Vampire Diaries (except the pilot) begins. And after 8 years of filming, many shot episodes, this series has come to an end. Now that the project is complete, we can summarize the entire series.
The first season among fans and critics is considered the strongest and best balanced. This is partly due to the fact that we are only introduced to the main characters: we do not know who they are, what goals and motives are guided by, whether they are really what they seem. It's also interesting that we don't get all the powers of vampires right away. To understand who vampires are in this series, you need to watch at least 5 episodes. The feeling of understatement fuels interest and makes you watch the series further. This technique will continue to be used, but the most powerful influence is in season 1. It is worth noting the fact that some actors acted out in the first seasons much more believable than in subsequent ones, but about this a little later.
The plot is simple and repeats from season to season: you need to kill 1-2 super-villains, save the world from destruction and by the end of the season find new troubles on your head. The cliche of villains and secondary characters should be kept quiet. If you are looking for bright, charismatic antagonists, there are almost none. Well, except that Klaus season 2-3, and Catherine and Kai Parker. Many situations go from season to season and even happen with the same characters. Stefan’s loss of humanity has happened three times in the series. It should also be noted a huge number of plot inaccuracies and shoals.
Despite the above disadvantages, the series has long held a set bar. The first 3 seasons were pretty good, both in story and quality. None of the actors replayed and the plot of the series moved to its logical conclusion. I would shoot only one or two episodes in addition to season 3, in which we would be shown who chose Elena from the brothers, the fate of the heroes and finally finish this story on a pleasant note. But that didn't happen, which is a pity. The continuation of the already told story, the departure of Dobrev and other main actors after the sixth season, all this affected the ratings not in the best way. And as a result, we have not a full 8 season, consisting of 16 episodes and a crumpled finale, which was tried to fit into one episode, or rather in the last 8-10 minutes. In general, the completion of the project was, as they say, an amateur.
The actors are well-chosen. In the beginning, Ian Somerhalder was very impressed. His Damon turned out to be very charming and not devoid of charisma, he alone holds the first half of season 1 and I think Somerhalder was 1/2 part of the success of the whole series. With this character shot a lot of cool moments, only the scene of dancing with Vicki under a cover of “Enjoy The Silence” which is worth it. Unfortunately, by the end of the series, Damon turned into a pathetic copy of himself, whether Ian got old, or he was already tired of playing this character, or something else. In general, the sparkle of this character disappeared. But his on-screen brother Paul Wesley by season 5 began to play more interesting, perhaps this is due to the fact that his character received further development, in contrast to Damon, who achieved his and remained at the same level until the final. Stefan continued to move forward, conquering new heights, which is why this character became a pleasure to watch. It is also worth noting Candice King, her Caroline at first was terribly annoying, but in the end became one of the most vivid and memorable characters, I consider this metamorphosis to be the merit of not so much writers as Candice herself. Nina Dobrev also played at the level, especially Catherine, unfortunately, with seasons, Nina began somewhere not to play, and somewhere to replay and this is understandable: the girl wanted to try herself in a big movie, and in this project to play sick.
Summing up, I want to say that despite all the shortcomings, this series turned out to be a good-medium project, which is quite possible to watch at the end of the working day and relax, give your brains a rest, because in principle, this goal was before the authors and they coped with it. Thank you to them and the whole team!
With this series began my love for foreign series, and for a very long time it was the Vampire Diaries that was my favorite series. I remember when I watched the first episode - I was thirteen, maybe fourteen. Then I was a fan of Twilight movies. And at the time, I thought, what could be more interesting than vampires, mysticism and love? The story of a young girl who is unremarkable, completely ordinary, and so much like you. She was also heartbroken after losing her parents. But here, on her fate falls such an adventure. It was the best story for me then, but it’s been six years and after reviewing the first seasons, I can safely say I was very wrong.
The plot is banal. Inconsistencies in the plot - at least add to it. The stupidity of the main characters is simply amazing. The main character is the embodiment of a gray mouse, which not only can not deal with his personal life, but also spoils it to everyone around. I admit, by the end of season five, I couldn’t stand her anymore and I really wanted something to happen to her and she was removed from the show. Bonnie is a friend of the main character, behaves smarter, but remains an ordinary schoolgirl, albeit for a short time. Caroline is the only character I ever liked. She never gives up, always positive. This joyful, friendly, and sociable blonde is like a ray of sunshine in this gloomy series. Matt and Elena’s brother, and a lot of the other guys from Elena’s high school (not counting the newly arrived vampires) just haven’t been revealed. No one is interested in them, and no one needs them. Just for a mask... Well, why do we need regular guys when there are mysterious and dark creatures? Vampires. They are certainly far from the canon of a real bloodsucker, closer to the Twilight version. At least they don't look like transsexuals. They look thirty years old, but who cares? Let them go to school. Stefan is a boring and uninteresting character. I don't know what to say about him. Damon is more interesting, you can see that the creators tried to reveal it well. I like his humor and behavior. But that’s not enough for a good show.
I was surprised that this show doesn’t teach me anything good. Quite the opposite. The value of human life, and of human existence in general, is irrelevant here. If you don't live forever, you're nobody. This is what I see throughout the series. If you take the example of the series “Supernatural”, there we are told every season that the main thing is to be a person, and no matter how long you live, the main thing is that you are a person. But in The Vampire Diaries, the opposite is true. And the love line of trouble. That love for one, then for another... is this how a girl should behave, with whom the audience of this series take an example? I don't think so. Elena cannot make decisions on her own, she needs someone to do it for her.
Looking at this series again, I became convinced that it is not as good as I once thought. I will advise him only if you are under fourteen years old, you are definitely a girl (the fact that “The Vampire Diaries” can even be liked by guys is not even a question, this is a girl series), you have not watched many TV series yet, and therefore there is nothing to compare, if you like intricate love lines intertwined with mysticism and horror, with mystery and mystery, then go ahead, look. I'm sure you'll like it.
But in the opposite case, you will be bored, and sometimes even funny from the stupidity of certain moments. Look for something more serious. Finally, thank you for reading my review! Watch good shows that are worthy of your time and attention!
5 out of 10
Here you can develop a whole demagoguery, but I will try to state the idea as short as possible.
Watching the series since 2010, at that time shot half of the first season, and I liked everything, the series was unusual, with beautiful actors, a certain veil of secrets, etc. And now, I'm looking at the rewinds.
Let’s take a quick look at the seasons:
Season 1: My favorite (probably), as there was some intrigue, a veil of secrets and wanted to know what will happen next.
10 out of 10
Season 2: A good sequel, introduced new characters, answered some questions that arose in the first season, in general, it was a good sequel.
10 out of 10
Season 3: Also one of my favorites, here in all its glory we see the family of firstborns and events are developing very interestingly! (By the way, it would be perfect to end the series this season.)
10 out of 10
Season 4: I would say that this is in its own right continuation, since we are watching the life of Elena in the image of a vampire, at least it is worth watching.
8 out of 10
Season 5: Stefan as Silas was unmatched! But the season is interesting only until its middle, but after begin the most boring series of the whole series.
8 out of 10 (for the first half of the season). For the second 1 out of 10
Season 6: Better than the fifth (at least in the second half), but in principle, the season turned out quite good, but the series has already begun to bite. I really liked the first 3-4 episodes.
7 out of 10
Season 7: Season without Nina Dobrev, of course, you can watch the series without Elena, but here it is not even in the character, but in the fact that the season was extremely boring and clearly superfluous. You understand that the creators simply ran out of ideas ... a pregnant vampire is generally complete nonsense.
3 out of 10
Season 8: I’ve watched five episodes so far (just like they’ve been out so far). I am already looking specifically with rewindings, because otherwise there is no... Caroline in the role of mother and Alaric in the role of the father – nonsense finished. I really hope this crazy series ends soon!! I used to be one of my favorites.
2 out of 10
Bottom line: 6 out of 10 (If the series ended at least on the fifth season, it would give the final 9 points.
P.S. I only watch the show because I want to see how it ends. A lot of time has been spent, so we are waiting for the end.
The Vampire Diaries: What was and what became — review from a former fan
Another example of a good series initially and slid into the bow later. I will say right away that I left this half-dead thing with the departure of Dobrev, although I wanted much, much earlier.
What happened in the beginning?
Interesting characters in reasonable (!) quantity. Everyone had some characteristic features, easily remembered, evoked emotions, and therefore empathy.
Dobrev played Elena quite nicely. Yes, with all the accompanying features of damsel in distress, but due to the charm of the actress and the really interesting story around her, at first it was all goodbye. Katherine in her performance was beautiful.
Somerchoder was certainly just the perfect antagonist until he turned into the Beautiful Pearl. Beautiful, sexy, mysterious, sinister, witty, Damon possessed the full set of features of the classic Tall, Dark and Handsome. Even when the degree of teenage soap began to skyrocket, he saved the situation simply by staying in the frame.
Wesley, perhaps, the only one who all these changes in the series have benefited. In the role of the classic protagonist Prince Charming looked dull and boring to a toothache, but Stefan went off the rails, he played a hurrah, completely changing my opinion about the actor. Apparently, it happens that just the role is not suitable. The miscast is there and Williamson's first joint.
The love triangle, though cut by almost every telecritic, really delivered in the beginning – right up to the moment Delena did, and Damon turned into Stefan 2.0. I must say, the rubber was pulled for a long time, and fans already thought that this was some kind of mockery, and now it is clear that this was the main plus of the series. Beware of your desires.
Accola was first told to play the fool and bitch of Mean Girls, but rather quickly made a 180 turn, introduced love interest in the form of super cool Klaus, and she became the main favorite of all fans.
Perhaps, in addition to Stefan, the further development of the story also benefited Bonnie, turning her from a boring bore into practically the protagonist of the series at the present time. Another proof that even the merged Damon makes everything and everyone 50% cooler.
Of the interesting characters, Alaric should also be mentioned. At times he was terribly despondent, but sometimes delivered (usually surprise - in a duet with Damon). All good things are over.
The other characters did not differ in any interesting way, so the change in the series for the worse, or rather, its complete drain, did not particularly affect them.
How Plec ruined it all:
In the first part, I mentioned miscaste Wesley as Williamson's joint, of which he made very few. His second joint is his departure from the series, after which everything went to hell. He remained only nominally, but the main screenwriter was Plek. The thing is that Williamson clearly imagined the story and the characters, even though many fans disagreed with that vision. But Plec, who gave the audience the resolution of this triangle, changed all the characters so much (by introducing And killing +100500 new ones), that only a few familiar faces and the scene remained of the original idea.
Dobrev left, leaving even a chance to rehabilitate Delena - the heart of the whole series. Now, however, there are rumors about her return in the last season, but so far everything is deaf.
Somerhalder began to overplay so much that even his appearance does not save him.
The most interesting arch with the Ancients was cut into a boring spin-off, clearly proving that quality is more important than quantity, and one good thing is better than two treshaks.
The plot is now built on the principle of introducing ten new characters, cursory sketches of their stories that no one cares about, killing nine of these characters that no one cares about, and introducing five new ones. When I caught myself thinking that not only do I care what’s going on there and with whom, but I’ve been annoyed by 99% of those faces for almost a season, I knew that it was time to quit the show.
Oh, that was once a sane version of Twilight. The most famous love triangle in the history of the series. The most popular show is Young Adult. The beginning of the CW channel's heyday. The reason for my fascination with series in principle.
For older people. Apparently, the writer liked the idea of warring brothers - vampires, and even in love with one girl. Of course, if it was not said that the series is based on the book “The Vampire Diaries”, then Lisa Smith would sue them for plagiarism after seeing a certain similarity. I’m not going to compare the book and the series. Let’s take the series The Vampire Diaries. I really enjoyed the performance of the actors, according to many that Daman is best played. If at first we hate him, then by the end of the season we have sympathy, and I also have desires for Elena to choose him. In order not to get bored, there is a storyline in the film, which is very joyful (I would not stand 22 episodes of only two love breaths). The fact that Elena is not a girl dissipated by the attention of guys, I personally respect the writer and director. Quite a lot of unexpected scenes, which is also pleasing, tired of knowing the plot in advance. And finally: don’t compare the movies to the ones that are already there, just watch a specific movie and enjoy watching more. There are a lot of movies about vampires and people. Original
