Probably, everyone will agree that vampires and everything associated with them, today are a favorite topic of filmmakers, TV series, authors of books. So much has been filmed and written about vampires that we will believe they do exist. The vampire theme is especially popular among teenagers. Such dangerous and therefore so attractive, bloodsuckers make millions of transitional girls around the world cheerfully squeal. I’m more interested in seeing real relationships between real people. But despite the fact that sometimes you want to see something new and unbeaten, The Vampire Diaries is one of my favorite TV shows. The characters of this story are very bright and different, and everything that happens on the screen is unpredictable and intriguing.
After watching all three seasons now and waiting for the fourth season, I remember how the show started. At the very beginning, it was like another movie for teenagers: the action takes place in a school in a small American town, where a handsome vampire comes and strikes up a relationship with the main character. It's banal. However, after a few episodes, to my delight, the series ceased to be exclusively teenage, so I can safely recommend The Vampire Diaries to those over 20. Unlike Twilight, with which, sorry, begs the comparison, the series has more drive, the plot develops quickly, and the characters, unlike the Saga, are all worked out, each has its own story. New characters constantly appear, some of which do not linger more than a few episodes, but bring variety to the series, not letting the viewer get tired of the same faces.
The cast is perfectly matched. The Salvatore brothers, played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, create the perfect combination: they are very different and very complementary, reminding me of the Winchester brothers. When I started watching the series, I was immediately glad that Ian Somerhalder got this role, which allows him to open up and show what he is capable of as an actor - and he is capable of much. And yet, I can’t help but notice that Ian is a little overplayed in the series. Yes, his Damon looks spectacular, but his looks and facial expressions are sometimes slightly exaggerated and unnatural. But Paul Wesley plays impeccably, and his hero is no less interesting than Damon. The younger Salvatore develops, changes, suffers, we recognize his dark sides, and Paul shows all this to the viewer. All the other actors are also excellent at their roles.
In general, the series is worth watching for those who like exciting plots with rapid development of events. You can watch a particularly impressive series - murders are committed on the screen and the effect of surprise is periodically used, but there is nothing terrible in the series, but there is a lot of interesting and intriguing. By genre, I'd say it's not horror or thriller, but rather mysticism and fantasy. The first three seasons were all on a level, one can only hope that the fourth will not be worse, and the series will not follow in the footsteps of many modern epics that continue until the producers suck all the juices out of them, when the last seasons are much inferior to the first and watch the series only from old memory, because it is pathetic to quit and want to know how it will end. In this case, watching what is happening on the screen series after series becomes more interesting and exciting. I recommend it to people of all ages and film preferences.
How did it all start? To answer this question, we are led by the events of the series “Removed”, in which Elena often plunges into the past where her parents and aunt Jenna were still alive, and her own problem was the relationship with Matt. In general, the girl had the most ordinary human life with teenage problems.
Why does the series have such a huge success and ratings, allowing it to reach season 4? Well, first of all, there are Stelenovtsy and Delenovtsy who will watch the series and quietly hate each other and Elena for her wrong choice.
All these couples in pairs, but over the years that the series is running, many have already forgotten what its main idea is. Even the writers themselves seem to have forgotten. Not really. Even in the last series, we see the desire for a family reunion. Elijah, as much as he hates Klaus, wants to take him because he's his brother. It's not worth talking about. So did the Salvatore brothers. And Elena, who is struggling to protect her family, which she does not succeed at all. The theme of family and friendship never leaves this series. And many watch only to see their favorite Forwood, Delena or Stelena. Ah! Yeah! There's also Claroline.
The subject of love comes up in the series quite often. The topic of trust, the topic of difficulty in determining how to do the right thing, the topic of growing up through the loss of loved ones, the topic of friendship, the topic of partnership. Shit! It's an ordinary life here! Just more vivid and full of supernatural events.
Let’s look at who really started the whole story. Elena. Katherine's double, who Klaus needs to break the curse and create a new race. Esther then used it to bind her children, and then to convert Alaric. Elena is used everywhere. I would have done what Jeremy thought long ago if I were her! Yeah. On the other hand, trying to escape the original hybrid and his family is useless. So in the end, if you think right, Elena was supposed to be a vampire. The only question is whether she knew there was vampire blood in her when she insisted that Stefan save Matt first. Did Tyler know Bonnie was using his body to trade with Klaus? Something tells me I knew. He's been calling Bonnie all the time, dating her. I think he decided to quietly save Caroline. And his wish coincided with Bonnie’s desire to save his mother from death.
When Katherine turned vampire, her life went on running from Klaus. Elena, in fact, does not need to run from anyone. She did the job that Klaus needed. What will happen in the fourth season?
Plec was talking about a new villain. Many people think it will be Tatiana. I don't believe it! What if the new evil is Elena? We don't know how the treatment process will affect her. She will be able to live with her new existence for a long time. I think even Stefan will be living with the Gilberts for a while, because Elena will be afraid that Jeremy will eat. I think Stefan is going to have to work hard to get Elena used to her new identity. Caroline came to terms quickly enough. Elena's already under stress, and now she's going to be a vampire. Although somewhere I read that the new villain will still be a man. For what? That's my question. What's this villain coming up for? What else will he need from Elena? She's a vampire now!
I think there will be a lot of magic in the new season. Bonnie will find a way to get Klaus back into his body. I think after Elena's conversion, Bonnie will begin a new phase in desperately mastering complex and possibly dark spells. There will be new characters like any other show. I'd like to see Coke more often. Firstborns have no reason to hide anymore. Just like Catherine. Thought... It's their business. No one is forcing them to live in MF. But for some reason, I think that Catherine should come at least out of curiosity about what happened to Elena. She likes to stick her nose everywhere.
I read a lot of reviews from the audience that the 3.22 series is the most tearful. I didn't shed a single tear. Yes, the series is full of drama, but I’m hardly surprised. However, I did not expect Elena to recover quickly. Meredith told Jeremy with such confidence that everything would be fine. And then I thought Meredith was injecting people with vampire blood. And Elena must have had that situation. But that doesn't mean anything. The flashbacks oppressed me. A return to ordinary human life, where Elena herself was a human being. I felt that these flashbacks were associated with more serious changes in her life than just choosing one of the Salvatores. She fell off the bridge, but survived. She lived among people. After the accident, her life changed. She had to join the vampires to find eternal romance with Stefan. Or Damon. Actually, ever since Damon confessed his love to Elena and made her forget everything, I knew she was going to be a vampire. It's the law of staging! Then more than one person said that if the suggestion was shown, then Elena will become a vampire and remember everything. But now we learn that this was not the only suggestion from Damon that she will remember. And remembering her words that if they had met earlier, all the Delenovites clamped their fists and hoped that she would change her mind. That Klaus wouldn't be killed, I was sure from the moment he was dried up. I was 100% sure that Bonnie would bring him back in the last episode of this season.
It seems the series has become predictable. I’m not so excited about next season. I hope the fourth season will be the last. We will be shown how Elena will survive the transformation, get used to her new self, shed tears that Jeremy is the only person in her family. I think she'll want to protect him for the rest of his life. Now he is the only thing that connects her to humanity. Family. This is the main theme of this series. And even if Elena gets hurt, she won't let herself die for Jeremy. The only living brother she's responsible for getting involved in all this. She'll always blame herself. Only she will blame herself for the fact that Sister Jeremy is now a vampire.
In general, if before the series I really liked and intrigued, now everything is very predictable. At least for me.
I don’t know what I’m doing with this series. Probably from idleness. But, you know, it's gone. Not my genre, though. The most interesting thing for me was to watch Damon’s relationships with others. That is, the whole series is based on this unusually charming and sexy actor - Ian Somerhalder. Why is his character always rejected? He's the most normal guy out there. The rest of the storyline with Bonnie and Caroline and the endless number of her boyfriends is not at all interesting in my opinion. Although Klaus and Caroline were intrigued in Season 3, they never became a couple.
Now heroes.
Stefan. Throughout the series, I prayed that someone would kill him. Since I've never seen a bigger nerd and whiner in a movie. The way the actor plays it is just awful. Especially his skewed face when he allegedly suffers for Elena. He's a very boring guy. Why did only two girls love him?
Helena. Always the same face. The same banal style in clothes. Everyone's chasing her. I wonder why. I would never be interested in it.
Damon. Only he plays convincingly. His lifeline and feelings catch on. His life position, sarcasm immediately win sympathy. Besides, he's bad. And you know how bad guys act on women.
And no matter how they say that “Diaries” are not like “Twilight”, I see a lot of plagiarism from the “Twilight saga” in the series. First, the love triangle. The vampire fell in love with a simple girl. There are werewolves. Of course, the blood scenes are tougher, but still. Looks like a face. How did season 3 end? Is this not a copy of the end of the first part of Dawn?
And some of the dialogue at the end of each series is unnatural. They are still accompanied by snotty slows.
And to me, the series is not worth such a high rating. That’s what I love about vampire theme, but this series did not make a strong impression on me. The plot is like nothing, interesting, but often quite illogical and inconsistent, the dialogue for the most part lame (maybe, of course, the translators messed up, I don’t know). I am tired of counting (usually not paying attention to them). I apologize in advance to the real fans and fans of this series, but, again, did not catch on. I have watched all the series available at the moment. Season 1 was not remembered at all, in 2, with the appearance of the so-called firstborns, it seemed to be more interesting, but by season 3 I was finally disappointed, in my opinion, the plot is already sucked out of the finger, and the ending is generally reminiscent of the 4th part of Twilight. Maybe in season 4 I will find something of my own.
Oh, I have to clarify that the only thing I started watching The Diaries for was Ian Sommerhalder. Here he kept the whole series well, played the role of a harmful, but in the heart of a repentant vampire. I believed him. Nina Dobrev in the role of Elena / Catherine did not like: it seems pretty, but absolutely did not play face, very little emotion showed. Stefan, Paul Wesley, also didn't make a good impression, all for the same reason. The young witch Bonnie seems like nothing, but the same repetitive spell, like a recitative, I almost learned it! Screenwriters could at least diversify it, because there are so many sonorous words in Latin. I liked the transformation of Tyler into a werewolf, believably done, but the character itself is some angular turned out.
In general, this was a review, not laudatory, but not cursed. I still hope that the next seasons will make me change my mind.
Until
I watched all 3 seasons of The Vampire Diaries & #39 and fell in love with the show! And I'll just say one thing: "Awesome!." There are many reasons to love him.
Reason 1:Activity
He's really impressive. All the characters are distinguished by their feature not to get bored, but to discover something new in their hero with each season. Rarely in the series, everyone is distinguished by beauty, which is rarely found in series of this type. I will tell you about the male part of the cast, which I often just look at.
Paul Wesley (Stephan) was annoying from the beginning. Always his eyes in a wet place, this mania to protect everyone and everything. But in Season 3, Paul just amazed me, he played so hard, it was like he got used to the role (finally!). His butcher seemed sorry, but he disgusted. Awesome! Paul is a wonderful actor.
Ian Somerhalder (Damon) liked the bad brother only in the first season, when his grins and big eyes did not scare away, but on the contrary attracted. I always smiled at his jokes, which are just not the place to tell the truth. I can't say I don't like him, at least kill him! Don't like it!
I want to talk about Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan. Seeing him in the cast, it seemed to me that he could not cope with the role of the main villain. But I was wrong. After two episodes with him, I became likable, and in Season 3 I fell in love with Joe’s smile and charisma. A great actor and the role is written for him. Since he played Klaus, whom everyone should have hated, no one would have played.
The main female role holder is pleased with the eye.
Nina Dobrev (Helena/Ketrin)
Elena and Katherine are both cunning and brave, only one takes care of her family, the other takes care of herself. With wallpaper roles, Nina coped perfectly, she seems to only like the dual role, so she gets used to them well.
Your game is also happy Candice Accola(Keroline), Stephen McQueen (Jeremy), Claire Holt (Rebekah), Daniel Gillis (Elijah), Zac Roerig (Meth), Michael Trevano (Tyler) and Katherina Greham (Bonnie/b>>
Do not forget those who got less screen time or who just ' removed ' from the series. Sarah Canning (Jena), Malez Joe (Anna) in my opinion, the best pair for Jeremy and no Bonnie will replace her, Lauren Cohen (Rose), Ariel Kebbel (Lexy) She played, so everyone still hates Damon for killing Lexy.
Reason 2:Soundtrack
Music in the series is always in place, selected compositions are perfectly combined with moments. And most importantly, they do not bother and give the series mystery. I also like the fact that this music before the series, never played in any movies.
Reason 3:Plot
Mysticism. That's all. There are people who like it, and there are those who do not like it and have nothing to say that everything here is complicated. Mysticism should be. This is a kind of porridge here and vampires, and werewolves, and moonstones, and hybrids, and witches, and curses. Personally, the more complicated it is, the more interesting it is. Plot 'Diaries' captures, scares.
Anyone who hasn’t watched the series should pay attention to it. Remember, the excitement to him wakes up only with the third episode of the first season, when everything begins to get complicated.
I can really envy the people who watch the show from the beginning, the unknown is always tempting.
“I'm kidding. You hate me. Everything is back to normal. (c)
Many people think that The Vampire Diaries is a Twilight plagiarism, but in fact it is the opposite. The Vampire Diaries was written 15 years before Twilight. As for the series, it is from the book only the names of the heroes. But it's for the best. In my opinion, the series is much better than the book. Lisa Jane Smith herself (author) rates the series very highly.
I’m very happy with The Diaries, although the pilot didn’t impress me, I decided to keep watching and didn’t lose out. I liked the first season, and the second season made me very happy. New heroes, ghosts from the past, exciting adventures... definitely worth seeing!
“The Vampire Diaries” was much better than “Twilight.”
First, the vampires themselves. Here they do not glow in the sun, it poses a serious threat to vampires (for those who do not have magic rings with lapis lapis). A stake in the heart is still an effective weapon against evil spirits, and in Twilight there is not a word about this.
Second, the characters. Each character is unique in its own way, has its own difficult character, to understand which is a pleasure. I can't help but walk through the main characters.
Elena Gilbert is the main character. Sweet, kind, brave, caring, good sister and friend. She became involved in vampire life when she fell in love with one of them. During the series, she went through a lot, lost many close people. But I want to note that Elena never soured, never rushed to extremes. She does everything to protect her loved ones from all kinds of mysticism.
Catherine Pierce (Katherina Petrova) is Elena’s evil double. Beautiful, cruel, selfish, she has a very developed instinct for self-preservation. The credo of life is, “You would rather die than I.” She repeated this phrase repeatedly throughout the series. But Catherine is also capable of loving.
Stefan Salvatore is the main character, a vampire. Beautiful, kind, intelligent, responsive, loves Elena, does not feed on human blood. However, later it becomes clear that this is not good for Stefan. He does not control his thirst for blood, and when he breaks down, he becomes a Ripper. So Stefan also has a dark side.
Damon Salvatore is Stefan's older brother. Sexy, violent, cold, sometimes angry, but not hopeless. He loves his brother and gradually falls in love with his girlfriend. Damon always pretends to be insensitive and indifferent, but he is also capable of feeling. It won’t take long to understand that.
Bonnie Bennett is Elena’s best friend and hereditary witch. At the beginning of the series, she lived with her grandmother, but she soon died. Bonnie is kind, caring, does not like injustice and vampires. Sometimes he behaves strangely (apparently, this is a feature of witches).
Caroline Forbes is a friend of Elena and Bonnie. At the beginning of the series gives the impression of a “near blonde”, but this is not at all true. Caroline is kind, gentle, responsive, sometimes overly emotional. Many believe that she has the most sincere smile in the series.
And it goes without saying.
Klaus Mikaelson is the original vampire, hybrid, and main antagonist of the series, although he does not appear until the end of season two. I consider him the most magnificent character. He's half vampire, half werewolf. At first, it seems that Klaus is definitely an insensitive villain, not like Damon. But he has feelings that he desperately wants to hide. He makes people fear themselves in order to subdue them, but in fact he is just very lonely.
I really enjoyed the acting. Heroes aren’t perfect like us, they all make mistakes. But they find the strength to move on, after everything they have experienced. All actors, without exception, got used to their roles very well, they are already inseparable from their characters.
Third, the plot. The beginning of the series is simple, but no one will deny that each episode ends very intriguingly, so you definitely want to continue watching. And in the second season, it was not a joke.
Fourth, the soundtrack. Very beautiful melodies and songs, some I even learned by heart.
Verdict: Required to view
Honestly, I have watched all 3 (I’m sure this is not the end) of the season of this masterpiece of modern cinema and still doubt why I did it at all. Perhaps it was the habit of finishing everything to the end. Disgusting, incompetent and senseless spectacle, gentlemen.
In order. I had the chance to read several books from the series Lisa Jane Smith, which, allegedly, made the series. Other than the names of the main characters, there is nothing in common. The most annoying fact is that the books have been enough, and it is completely unclear why the creators of the series needed to stuff a bunch of nonsense into the seemingly confusing plot of the original. If they wanted to create something exciting, was it worth weaving the name of an innocent author of books into the whole action, if in the end almost nothing is taken from the original?
If the first season of the series only introduced us to the characters and outlined the alleged love and vampire conflicts, then somewhere in the middle of the second season, the writers, apparently, the supply of ideas was exhausted, and the already frail series rolled into tartara. Lots of incoming and outgoing characters who were never given a chance to open up and good old Elena, Damon and Stefan, who had nothing to reveal.
Now for acting talents. Nina Dobrev (the role of the conqueror of the hearts of bloodsuckers) is simply nothing: very cute in appearance, but she does not know how to play. Maybe this is not necessary for such a second-rate project. Paul Wesley (Stephan) from the first frames resembles the not-unknown Robert Pattinson from the no less famous “Twilight”: frowning eyebrows, ruffled hair and a concerned look a la “we can’t be in place.” I didn't see anything else. Once promising Ian Somerhalder (Damon) all three seasons shows a grin in the style of a bad guy, having the effect of the first 10-15 episodes and becoming completely out of place all the rest of the screen time. There is nothing to say about the other actors.
What do we get? Brilliant wrapper in which, perhaps, there has never been a candy; concocted bluff on the wave of the popularity of the vampire theme soap opera, which absorbs a lot of time and nerves, but gives nothing in return, except bewilderment and irritation.
When I began to watch the series I do not remember, but at that time half of season 2 had already come out like. came out on this series purely by accident, and learned that it is very popular only when I began to watch.
I liked it from the first episode. I love vampires, love. Somehow, they compare movies about vampires. The most discussed comparison is 'Twilight' and 'The Vampire Diaries'. I don't want to offend the fans of twilight, but they are 'children' or what. A'The Vampire Diaries' embody everything I like about vampires.
Of course, here they made all vampires extraordinary handsome, seducers, incredibly strong and so on. The plot is interesting, confusing, you never know what the next series will lead to. You can laugh and cry and be serious. A lot of blood, violence, and deceit, that's what vampires love. And the romantic line is also very well represented. I am very happy and looking forward to Season 4.
As far as acting is concerned. For starters, the cast is very good. I was impressed. I like all the actors. For some reason, the game of Nina Dobroev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder is more distinguished. Yeah, guys are great. It is also said that the series is based only on Ian. But the other actors. I like actors like Katherine Graham (Bonnie), Zach Roerig (Matt), Matthew Davis (Alaric), Daniel Helis (Ellijah), Claire Holt (Rebekah), whom I remember from the series ' H2O just add water.' Why don't they say anything about them? They're beautiful. I care about these characters and respect their performance. They're good. But as for Joseph Morgan, here I am. He's a bomb. Of course, that's just my opinion, but it's great. The Perfect Klaus.
Well, in general, 'The Vampire Diaries', the series is what you need. I will review it again and again.
Another, relevant in our time, love story about vampires. When I first heard about this series, I did not want to watch, then I overpowered myself and watched the first series. Great! So interesting exciting plot that I just can not break away from this series, starting with the very first series.
The actors are beautifully selected, so each of them fits into their image that it really seems that all these characters are real. Plus, the cast is very beautiful, both the main characters and secondary ones. I really like Damon performed by Ian Somerhalder - a very beautiful and sexy actor, besides playing his character brilliantly. Also nice and Nina Dobrev in the role of Elena – a nice girl, although special acting data I do not see. As for Twilight, I think comparing it to The Vampire Diaries is just silly. “Twilight” and “The Vampire Diaries” are completely different stories, they are not comparable.
Bottom Line: Beautiful actors, exciting plot and a bit of sexuality in each episode are the three main components of the success of The Vampire Diaries.
10 out of 10
I am writing this review at the end of season 3. On the Internet has already appeared information that the series will continue, so I want to say: ' The main thing is not to make a second (or even a third, given Gossip Girl) Santa Barbara!'
So about the series itself, starting to watch you drags you into the abyss of depression. Because of what? Well, most likely because of Elena Gilbert - she is a quiet, calm, depressed girl. Her parents are dead and she can’t (or probably won’t) return to the world. Throughout the series (the 3 seasons that have already been released), Elena Gilbert plays the role of the Martyr & #39; or the savior... as you please.
Moving on, Stefan Salvatore is a typical masochistic vampire, so to speak, it’s no surprise that most fans of the series consider him, to put it mildly, an uninteresting character. But! Stefan is not who he seems. He's a murderer determined to become a monk. This side is shown to us by the writers at the end of season 2. A ruthless, bloodthirsty Ripper. And yet, there’s a bit of nobility, if you can call it that.
The most colorful character in my opinion is Damon. But is he really what we think he is? What's in his soul? All the pain, all his love for Elena, her and not Catherine, is in his eyes. Eyes are like a mirror of his soul. He's hurtful, but he hides it behind his no-tower behavior.
We move on to the secondary characters.
Katherine Pierce or Katerina Petrova is a gorgeous bitch fighting for her life. I can tell you one thing.
Caroline Forbes is a great friend, the funniest vampire in Mystic Falls.
Bonnie Bennett is a cross between Elena and Caroline, she has willpower, she does not depend on anyone.
Here are the short descriptions of the characters that I liked the most, so to speak.
Result: Great performance of all actors, exciting. It's very good. Wishing writers: 'Dear screenwriters, it may be enough monotony, it's time to make changes (if it's not clear then I say right away, stop finishing the seasons of Stelena, it's time to show Delena!). Last but not least, don’t turn the show into Santa Barbara!'

The life paths of successful television series are usually similar - they win the love of the audience, pass the peak when the level of interest is maximum, and the plot has not yet begun to repeat itself, usually it is somewhere in the second season, and then - if the producers and directors do not stop at the time - even the best stories usually slide to the lowest level and while new unexpected (unnecessary?) characters appear, all the main characters sleep with each other, someone turns out to be someone's extramarital son or daughter, viewers watch once an interesting series by in the direction and in the dance. Whether this is due to good source material, or the talent of the writers, but ' The Vampire Diaries' with each season only evolved.
I confess, after the release of 'Twilight' I honestly thought that 'DV' it's just Twilight in the form of a series. For the sake of interest, I looked at a couple of fragments on YouTube and decided that there was nothing to look at except for pretty actors. So one evening, two years later, I suddenly wanted to read something in English, so I decided to look at the original DV', and was just amazed that Meyer didn’t have to invent anything. Much like that, where is the copyright? Well, it’s not about that, but about the fact that after 7 hours of reading the first 2 books and all the fragments with Damon in the 3rd, I finally started watching the series, though from the third season.
First, ' The Vampire Diaries' by the third season evolved towards a dark, beautiful and profound story, which deals with topics such as the loss of loved ones, eternal life and the meaning of such a life, loneliness, questions of good and evil, dependence (even on blood), self-control, the right to judge someone for their actions, and of course, love - brotherly, parental, undivided, selfless, hopeless. So many types of love are hard to find and classify, and why? Instead of another story about how hard it is to love a beautiful vampire, we got a long and intricate fairy tale with myths and legends, with well-written and motivated characters, each of which has its own philosophy and no unequivocally 'bad' or 'good'.
Second, characters.'The Vampire Diaries' is a series with a perfect cast. Dark-haired sweet and responsible Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) instead of blonde sex-obsessed book Elena, in my opinion, made this story a little closer to real life. Elena is a simple schoolgirl who learned too early what death is and, ironically, immortality. She's not a superhero, she makes mistakes and behaves like a child sometimes. I think this is one of the most successful female characters in the series that came out recently, Elena is real, she could live next door to you, run in the morning near your house and go to your school and never know about vampires. It just so happened that she was born in Mystic Falls.
Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) is the perfect boyfriend. He is caring and reliable, capable of eternal love, has a difficult past and an even more complicated future. But not everything is so simple, and with the development of history we discover another, tougher side of his character. This character in my imagination very much echoes a certain Edward Cullen, whether because of the appearance of the actors, or because of the character of the characters.
Damon Salvatore (Ian Sommerhalder) at the beginning of the series seems to be Mr. Hyde of his brother. He is completely unbrakeable, cruel and seductive. But like everything in this series, the character of Damon turns out to be much deeper and more complex than just an angry older brother and at some point you begin to sympathize and empathize with him, if you do not feel warmer feelings.
The real fighter for survival Katherine Pierce (Katherina Petrova) was also performed by Nina Dobrev. The actress almost masterfully transforms from a pragmatic and serious Elena into a frivolous and cruel vampire, while you can always tell who is who just by looking at the face of Catherine / Elena - in my opinion this is the main indicator that Dobrev succeeded in this trick. As for the character - if the book Catherine can cause nothing but hatred, then in the series you expect Catherine to appear on the screen like parties.
I also want to note the wonderful play of Candice Akola (Caroline Forbes), which sometimes outplays the three main characters, although in the first season her character is quite often annoying.
The soundtrack in 'The Vampire Diaries' is a separate character. Tracks are always in place, complement and decorate. It was nice to hear my favorite Hurts in a couple of moments.
On the subject of atmosphericity and thoughtfulness I love vampire stories and it was nice to see in 'DV' in some ways a tribute to the traditions of this genre. The main location is the small old town of Mystic Falls with the cult of the founders, it is in such schools that old Indian cemeteries are built, and in your house there may be an entrance to a cave with rock paintings. The vampires in Diaries do not shine in the sun, but simply burn up, they do not sleep in coffins, do not disdain human food and alcohol (mostly expensive), are able to hypnotize with their eyes, and you can kill them with a good old stake in the heart. They also look good.
In general, if you have free time and a desire to briefly escape from reality in the grotesque and mysterious world of Mystic Falls - welcome.
This series is for you, those who crave romance and vampires and are looking for something longer and more regular than full-length Twilight.
This series is for you, those who really like the sequel Another World and who are looking for something as tough and also about vampires.
This is even for you, those who love vampire classics like Dracula and Interview with the Vampire.
Exaggerate? Hardly. I'm not a vampire fan. This series was treated with prejudice from the beginning. It was hard to convince myself to sit down and watch a couple of episodes.
Well, it seems as if I thought that on a gender-adult basis I approach the target audience of this series. As they say, it was evening, there was nothing to do.
What a surprise it was when I got involved after the third episode and began to absorb the series in huge quantities! For four days, I watched the two seasons already available, and studied all the promos for the upcoming third.
The series did not make a discovery in the field of vampirism (which we have not seen), did not show a new facet in the relationship of the three, not even surprised by the storylines. But its dynamics just fascinated. By the end of the second season, I was amazed at how simple and trivial things started. It was really cool. But it is not hopeless than many TV series suffer, which are then underfunded and they in the last series in 40 minutes try to disassemble the plot confused to the outrage.
Let me be clear, I'm crazy with Ian! For me, it was a discovery, this role took him to a qualitatively new level (his minor character in the TV series Lost was too dead for six seasons and pretty much forgotten by the end). There is a lot of it, it enlivens and gives a zest.
It is a little annoying that there is the same girl around whom, as always, the whole world revolves and the American town, which simply attracts trouble and all kinds of existing creatures.
It is amusing how actors are exchanged with nearby TV series, such as supernatural.
It's a nice unobtrusive soundtrack.
This is the third season of The Vampire Diaries. And while watching it, I get a little tired of the speed with which the series is released: Once a week, and almost every two weeks break. Because of this, the series loses its dynamism and, accordingly, its attractiveness. Therefore, for those who intend to watch it, wait until the season is fully translated.
And, of course, most importantly, pay attention to the dubbing you are watching. I love the Cube version of the online translation, but that’s my personal preference. Translation of MTV, TNT or Lostfilm is suitable. But there are other decent dubbings. If you can afford to choose a translation, then choose one that will suit you personally and will not annoy you.
The series is really interesting, at least for now.

To begin with, the release of the series was successfully selected for ' the era of vampires'. And I cannot judge the series in its entirety, including all seasons, because I have different opinions about them. The series attracts and draws. I want to watch it and review it. Of course, there are also disadvantages.
The first season is still my favorite.
The second season gave us a beautiful Catherine Petrova. It was this role that opened for me Nina Dobrev as an actress. Dobrev was able to show both a boring, faded girl and a bright, bitchy, selfish woman. The third season is disappointing and happy, I also have no consensus on it.
About actors.
The game was played by Paul Wesley. His play is emotional, not the role, but the game. Then Stefan (his character) is on the verge of tears, wants to kill himself for his atrocities, but he smiles, playfully looks, oh, and here he kills his brother’s girlfriend, here he steals the coffins from a sinister vampire. He's running for his girlfriend, and he's gonna kill her. I admire his performance, especially in season 3.
Ian Somerhalder. The first season was the most colorful for him. The smirks and sarcasm of his character were novelty. Here he smiles and flirts, and here he ruthlessly kills, takes revenge on his brother. But what happened next? The facial expressions became boring, the humor became flat, the excellent villain was made a boy for shaving. This is not the actor’s fault.
In this series, I discovered wonderful actors. For example, Joseph Morgan. God, how impressive his game is. And he got the role he needed (I hope not to spoil in the future). Candice Acolla has transformed the stupid, 'empty' eternally sober and agreeable blonde into a strong, faithful, not without irony vampire who humbly waits for her boyfriend, and the only one who can cool the ardor of the villain. All actors are well-chosen.
When I started watching the series, I did not expect anything special from him, but it dragged on, but not for long! The plot is simple to ugliness, but relevant at all times: a beautiful schoolgirl Elena meets the same handsome vampire and falls in love, then again there is a handsome evil brother of a vampire and also feels sympathy for the main character. And here she is between two fires, like loves the good, but also to the bad of course pulls.
I'll start with the pluses:
1) Beautiful actors. There are very few really attractive faces in one series, not only in the main characters, but also in most minor ones. They are pleasant to look at, the eye is directly happy, and at first you do not pay attention to their acting talents.
2) A pleasant soundtrack that perfectly fits into the atmosphere of the series, fits all the moments and does not distract at the same time. Some of the songs are firmly established in my playlist.
Here the merits of this series end and move on to the minuses:
1) Plot. (I know that the series is based on books that I have not read and therefore can not speak objectively about the plot, but still ...) If at first, in the first season, it was really dynamic, not confusing and interesting, then some enchanting nonsense began! I can still understand the evil copy of Helena, Catherine, but why was it so complicated with some curse, moonstone, werewolves still assigned here! There are too many details and nothing in general. I can't do season three yet. Alas. But it doesn’t look like it is.
2) Acting. If at first you do not get distracted by their talents behind the cute faces of the heroes, then at the end of the first season their lusciousness does not save them. I can’t say that the actors are not playing well. No, they are trying, it is obvious, but, for example, Nina clearly does not play (she is in all situations, even the most dangerous ones, she is kind of too calm, as if she knows that everyone will be saved and everything will be fine, I would like her nerves to be iron), and Ian at the same time overdoes it with his grins.
Conclusion:
Overall, the picture is very attractive. The unpicking viewer who watches this kind of series for the first time, I think, will like everything, because despite the frank minuses, everything looks quite high-quality and stylish.

To date, “Vampires” is probably the most favorite topic among writers of TV series and films. Here's another series about vampires, blood and love. What else have you seen about vampires? A love triangle? — was there a brutal murder somewhere? — Eh, and that too was seen, but The Vampire Diaries brought something fresh and interesting to the vampire world.
When I watched the pilot series, it seemed to me like a second-rate series, with a banal plot and not quite a rich cast, but later, with each new series, it fascinated me more and more. The story became dynamic and exciting.
Actors. Of course, vampires are associated with beauty, sexuality and extraordinary sarcasm. The writers and producers of the film did not fail here.
Stefan is a positive character, which at first glance may seem strange, because he is a vampire. He is beautiful, charming and kind, which incredibly soon attracted the main character Elena. Stefan supports people when they feel bad and does not drink human blood.
Elena is a kind, pretty girl who always took care of her family, especially after her parents tragically died in a car accident. She has a best friend, a teenage brother, with whom she is trying to mend a relationship, but the pain of a great loss is no substitute. She is trying in all possible ways to become the carefree girl she was before. With the advent of Stefan, it will begin to bloom, but later everything will be more complicated than it was.
Damon - well, the conqueror of the female half of the viewers of the series, the one who does not leave anyone indifferent, the one who makes our hearts tremble. It is impossible not to fall in love with his character, because he is the complete opposite of common sense and his brother. He is impulsive, strong and charming. Damon always gets what he wants, does what he wants.
The series itself is very well thought out, sometimes it may seem that everything is very confusing, but this is what makes viewers watch it with such pleasure. Every season we see more and more powerful villains. The writers led by Julie Plec are doing a very good and high-quality work, because it was they and the team of directors that the series rose to such a high level. With each season, the series will change more and more for the better, as well as the characters. They will grow older, their characters will become stronger, and passions in the love triangle will heat up.
In conclusion, I want to wish all viewers a pleasant viewing of the end of the third season, and for those who are just going to start watching the series I am very envious, because you only have to get acquainted with this mysterious and alluring town of Mystic Falls!

For older people. Apparently, the writer liked the idea of warring brothers - vampires, and even in love with one girl. Of course, if it was not said that the series is based on the book “The Vampire Diaries”, then Lisa Smith would sue them for plagiarism after seeing a certain similarity. I’m not going to compare the book and the series. Let’s take the series The Vampire Diaries. I really enjoyed the performance of the actors, according to many that Daman is best played. If at first we hate him, then by the end of the season we have sympathy, and I also have desires for Elena to choose him. In order not to get bored, there is a storyline in the film, which is very joyful (I would not stand 22 episodes of only two love breaths). The fact that Elena is not a girl dissipated by the attention of guys, I personally respect the writer and director. Quite a lot of unexpected scenes, which is also pleasing, tired of knowing the plot in advance. And finally: don’t compare the movies to the ones that are already there, just watch a specific movie and enjoy watching more. There are a lot of movies about vampires and people. Original
