Sean's life was going down a rut. He would automatically move from one day to the next, not paying much attention to what was going on around him, but he was not personally affected. Life is like life, no worse than others. No better. The usual dull work, the same way to work in the morning and home in the evening, the same detached, absent faces of passers-by on the street, passengers on the bus, beggars walking towards each other. He has a girlfriend, Liz, who is constantly unhappy that Sean, with his friend Ed, spends much more time in the pub than with her. That he's drinking beer all night instead of going to the gym. Liz hates this way of life, and she intends to abandon Sean. There is an apartmentmate Ed, with whom Sean has been friends since kindergarten, a regular drinking partner and a video game partner who does not require anything from him, does not bother about ambition over his ear, unlike Liz. But it's fun and easy. There is also a beloved mother and an unloved stepfather, with whom you also need to communicate from time to time.
Day by day, month by month, year by year. Like toads in a famous fairy tale: “Eat – now you can sleep.” You've slept, you can eat now. Days like a copier, like one another.
Life more like the existence of amoebas, or zombies, than human. Indeed, the meaningless and indifferent faces of people in shops, transport and on the streets, their behavior differed so little from the habits of zombies that friends did not immediately notice that one very ordinary day, the world around them changed! Crowds of hungry and slow dead, thirsting for flesh, roam the streets. They learn how to behave in this situation and how to kill zombies. Either you are against them or you are one of them.
Sean has a heroic plan: pick up his mother, friend, Liz, go to Winchester and ... sit there for a beer until everything clears up. And in the process of implementing this plan, Sean suddenly comes alive! He becomes the leader of the group, he quickly reacts to changes in the plan made by circumstances. Sean of a worthless loser suddenly becomes a fierce and brave fighter against the enemy. He even wears a headband like Rambo. Now he is not confused with a zombie, he is alive! And in the struggle for life is ready to stand to death, even losing friends, relatives and loved ones.
“It’s actually what Ash does, but he’s a little sick today, so I’m going to be in charge,” Sean says at the beginning of the film, replacing the sick Ash in the store. And in the fight against zombies, Sean also perfectly coped with the task, replacing the legendary Ash in this field. After all, all fans of the horror genre perfectly understand what kind of Ash we are talking about.
Edgar Wright’s film contains many references to zombie movie icons, such as George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, 28 Days Later, and others. He parodied the key moments of these films, ridiculously playing textbook situations in them. Despite the fact that it is a comedy, there are enough bloody and dangerous zombies in the film, really scary moments related to their attack, deaths, but they are diluted with a signature English humor. For example, throwing records in the heads of zombies, taking pictures with a zombie girl who attacked Sean, singing along with howling a zombie, whom friends mistaken for a singing drunk or drug addict, imitating the behavior of zombies when trying to walk to the bar. And, of course, just a killer scene scoring zombie cues to the music of Queen. This is a real horror film, with all the attributes inherent in this genre. He's just very funny. There is no vulgarity in the film, but a lot of irony and respect for the subject of the parody. It’s as if children are acting out scenes from a favorite movie – so much drive, humor, completely crazy inner energy and pleasure from the process itself, which is transmitted to the audience. This was one of the reasons that the film won a huge success with the audience and cult status almost immediately after the release, as well as the BAFTA award as the best film of the year.
Director Edgar Wright, screenwriter and lead actor Simon Pegg and performer of the role of Ed Nick Frost met and became friends on the series Spaced, where Simon Pegg was also a screenwriter. Then the idea was born to shoot the trilogy “Blood and Ice Cream” (“Cornetto”), the first part of which was the film “Zombie named Sean”. In 2007, the second part of the triptych was released - "Type of Cool Cops", which also had a huge success at the box office. The third part, “Edge of the World”, is scheduled for release later this year. Movies are not related by a common theme or characters. They are united by the names of Wright, Pegg and Frost, as authors and performers of the main roles in the project, as well as the desire to mock the template “eternal values” and turn their meaning on its head. In the first two films, they did the best they could.
After Wright's first full-length film, "A Zombie Named Sean," all three literally woke up famous. The picture itself became a significant event in the genre of comedy and zombie horror, successfully combining these two genres, seasoning it with a pinch of melodrama and romance. And the acting career of Simon Pegg, who created a bright image of Sean and Nick Frost, who wonderfully played the clumsy and fat sloppy-fucking Ed, noticeably and successfully went up.

“Zombie named Sean” is addressed to those who have already had enough of the rich, but had time to get bored with its template theme about zombies. The satirical “Night of the Living Dead” and “Dawn of the Dead” Romero replaced “Residence of Evil”, in which a typical thrash blockbuster was fashioned from an excellent game; “Day of the Dead”, where the atmosphere of horror was preferred to be replaced by blood and insides, and a great many similar films in which, as usual, a great idea was lost to a mediocre, template box office.
Perhaps this is why the British parody horror comedy Zombie by the Name of Sean, released in 2004, attracted so much attention from critics and viewers. Box office he provided his multigenre, so that something for themselves in him could see and lovers of comedy, and drama, and horror, and thrash, and parody, and the recognition of critics managed to win the complete absence of any pathos, pretentiousness, and the amazing ease with which director Edgar Wright was able to combine scenes with an abundance of cruelty and bleeding pieces of bodies with truly funny humor.
First of all, it is impossible not to note the plot and ideologicality of the tape. At first glance, “Zombie named Sean” is made according to the classic, long-standing traditions of the genre. Here you and the picture of the familiar world at the beginning, acquaintance with the main characters, designation of priorities in the relationship between them. Then - the beginning of the so-called zombie apocalypse, the rapid adaptation of characters to new conditions of the game, and no less rapid development of the plot, during which we observe the clarification of the relationship between the characters, drama, death, new acquaintances. And the final, which, as a rule, can not be unequivocally called closed or open. However, all this is served under a sauce that is strikingly different from what we see in others a picture on a given topic.
The satirical nature of “Zombie named Sean” is perfectly visible in the scene when Sean goes to the store after a night of drinking, and on autopilot moves along a street filled with zombies, but everything looks so ordinary, zombies are so similar to people immersed in daily routine, and the main character is so limited by himself that only the viewer sees how much everything has changed since yesterday night. But the truth is that ordinary people are not much different from the rebellious dead.
The film is really funny, giving a lot of fun. I do not like the expression “English humor”, but this is how you can characterize how the film crew was able to stand the line between funny and decent, and with a serious face joke over the cliches of zombie films, original playing every banal, seemingly, situation.
It is impossible not to mention the play of the duet of the main characters - Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who perfectly coped with their roles, and managed at the end of the film from the comedy rails to break into a real drama, which, however, only logically completes the story told, and allows you to laugh at yourself in the final scene.
Of course, most of you have already seen “Zombie named Sean”, but he has every right to be on the list of films that should be reviewed in the evening as in the company of friends and alcohol, generating an abundance of new jokes and leaving behind no oppressive thoughts, and himself.

"I see she's out there." - "Are there zombies?" - "Don't say that again..." - "What?" "This." - "What?" "This. The Z-word." "Why?" "P.
One of the best zombie movies I've seen. From the very first shots, this masterpiece captures and the film flies rapidly like a melody heard on the street, which aroused excitement and interest, but stopped too quickly. We know the name of this melody.
The Sean of the Living Dead.
A simple guy, Sean, who lives under the same roof with his high school friend Ed and another friend named Pete. His life is not rich in adventure, or even trips to the theater. He walks the same road to work every day, after working in the same pub, and in breaks plays with Ed on the console. He even has a good half of his life on his shirt with a tag with the Sean estate, because he is a salesman and that is his name. The end of the world has already come for him. He also has a girlfriend, whom he has been unable to meet for three years with his mother, whose friends he “cannot stand,” and Ed. This film painfully reminded me of “How not to live”, by the way also memorable and loved by me series filled with English humor.
Do you have no friends, no family, no job? You're not alone, you're zero.
Sean saves the world from a... and, come on, come on. But who if not him? And Ed. They also want to take their neighbor’s car. Won't he get mad? They're gonna be in trouble. Well, apart from -- and of course. A salesman and a friend who cleaned their apartment for the first time in years and recorded messages from an answering machine go to war. You know who you are.
English parody of everything that can be associated with zombies, Left 4 Dead inside out.
The film is full of sparkling dialogues, English humor, absurdity, and parody. At the same time, it is not at all like “Scarious Movie”, everything is serious here, if you can imagine it at all. Sean and Ed do make their way through crowds of flesh-hungry dead trying to save themselves and their loved ones, but how do they do it? Even laughing can hurt. The script of the film is simply incomparable, everything is written without a single roughness. It’s great to see what happens with this crazy thing.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost - I love these guys.
The acting game is simply brilliant, with complete seriousness every minute to generate delusions in its pure form is a difficult task, not every actor will cope with it. As someone said in an interview: “An idiot must be able to play”, hello to “Austin Powers” and brilliantly played Michael Myers (not a maniac from “Halloween”, but a wonderful actor). What is the scene where they throw records at zombies, leaving copies of the first editions. These guys are just nuggets.
Original directorial techniques that create the effect of confusion of what is happening, the “realistic” of the actions of the main characters, probably people will behave as they discover in the morning that the city is teeming with dead people, and the charisma of the leading actors make this film one of the best representatives of the “genre”.
If you like zombie movies, if you like English-calibrated humor, if you like "Type of cool cops" without a doubt watch this movie. Not only is this film funny, competent, high-quality, so there are still the main characters, that is, ordinary jackasses, have to make their way through the crowds of the revived dead in the best traditions of “survival horror” in the manner of senior salesman Sean. Temporarily senior seller, due to the invasion of... See for yourself.
Competently ridicule what is not too disposed to laugh is also a kind of art. With humor, everything is fine, there are enough good jokes, comedic images of the characters are spelled out well and do not look stamped. The plot here is a bit crazy, but on the other hand, isn’t it good?
In fact, everything here is conceived as a parody of films about the living dead. The rather worn genre was ridiculed talentedly, but there is one serious problem in this film - in some moments the comedic fervor is replaced by quite dramatic and somewhere even creepy turns. Because of this, the overall mood of the film is confused. And it is not clear whether it happened by accident, or planned to beat it in a humorous form, but did not press the idea to the end. After a rather funny moment to show the eerie death of an important, in general, hero, is clearly not the best scenario move.
As a result, it is not clear to what genre, after all, to rank this film. Most of the screen time we see a perfectly staged comedy, but in the finale to laugh little. Watch this movie is definitely worth it, although a sharp change of mood at the end and hits the eyes, but the charge of the comedy set at the beginning completely smoothes out the not comedic ending.

The plot turned out to be quite original for a zombie apocalypse movie.
Sean (Simon Pegg) is not much different from the others, he has an ordinary job, problems with his girlfriend and mother. After work, he usually spends time at a local pub with his best friend Ed (Nick Frost) or plays video games and watches TV. But here begins the zombie epidemic.
A comedic and partly dramatic role performed by Simon Pegg. Personally, I’m always pleased to see Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost collaborating because, after a great collaboration, they tend to make exceptionally good films. In this case, Simon Pegg is perfect for his role not only as a comedian, but also as a dramatic actor.
The humour in this film is more than enough, because the whole "buddy" is here! (Wright, Pegg and Frost) I also want to note the excellent duet of Pegg and Frost, throughout the film will not be bored by the viewer.
About zombies. Zombies are really great. Elegantly put makeup, camera work and special effects make themselves felt (of course in a good way). The actors who played zombies also proved themselves well, thanks to all this you begin to believe that this is actually a zombie apocalypse, and not some extra of make-up people.
As a result, turned out very not even a bad movie, which can be reviewed more than once.

Lack of sight, daily movement along the same trajectory, indifference to what is happening around – yes, life turns many into zombies. But everything becomes more complicated when a gray crowd of people concerned about their problems really becomes the living dead, wanting to eat or convert those who managed to survive.
Having been good friends for many years and working together on several television series, director Edgar Wright and actor/writer Simon Pegg decide to conquer the big screen. So they came up with a story about how ordinary people would behave during the zombie apocalypse.
As Bertrand Russell said, the only thing that will save humanity is cooperation. I think now we can all appreciate this phrase.
- Was it written on a beer mug stand?
- Yes, under the extra cold Guinness.
Two bosom friends Sean and Ed live. The first works as a manager, goes to the pub in the evenings and leads a very monotonous lifestyle, and the second by its irresponsibility, complete carelessness and desire only to have fun makes the life of the first not so boring. But Sean has a girlfriend, Liz, who wants more variety, and it’s very hard to know who’s the third in this relationship. And when Sean finally decides to fix everything, he gets the perfect chance to save his friends, family and beloved from bloodthirsty zombies. For Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, these images of simple and desperate Britons ensured world success, which is not surprising, because such a colorful comedy duo could not go unnoticed. And Kate Ashfield as Liz is good here.
A couple of friends Liz, who also do not help their relationship with Sean, perfectly embodied Lucy Davis and Dylan Moran. She does not abandon Sean and her parents in the performance of wonderful British actors of the older generation Bill Nighy and Penelope Wilton. His concern for them only confirms that he is not a bad guy at all. Contrary to the laws of the genre, all the characters of the story are ordinary people with their swings, none of them has a mission to save the whole world from zombies. They just want to be safe. And this gives a feeling of some strange realism of what is happening, it seems that this is how people would actually behave under similar circumstances, committing either stupid or brave actions.
Created with great enthusiasm, the film was the beginning of an original comedy trilogy with great humor of different shades. But this is not just a joke about the horror genre, there is a subtle satire of modern society, which is increasingly becoming like a crowd of zombies, with the difference that they do not bite everyone in a row. And dramatic moments are enough, because jokes are jokes, and human relationships, love and friendship are serious. Wright and Pegg found the perfect balance between comedy, drama and horror. Not having at their disposal a cool weapon than only the heroes do not beat these zombies. But the obvious winner is the cricket bat. And the soundtrack for the film is excellent. Fighting zombies to the music of Queen is incredible! A wonderful movie.
How are you?
- Surviving.
In the event of a sudden invasion of the living dead, we do not panic, take a cricket bat in our hands, gather all our loved ones and barricade ourselves in a pub. Well, or stay at home, sit on the couch and listen to the advice of the presenter on how best to neutralize zombies and not become one of them.
Just the day before yesterday, I managed to watch the “magnificent three” for the first time. Edaga Wright: "Armageddian," "Type of Cool Cops" and, of course, "A Zombie Named Sean." All films are beautiful, original, funny. They've got all the best you can put together, which is why they're so cool. This movie about zombies turned out just great. Here are all the criteria by which you can calculate Edgar: Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, originality, references to their own films, really worthwhile humor, a little action - all in a glass of delicious cinema.
Of course, it is impossible not to mention the wonderful duet of Nick and Simon, which can be watched endlessly. When they're together, something incredibly funny and incomparable happens. All the actors stood out in their own way, played great.
What’s unusual is that the movie looks like you’re there. While watching, it is not even noticeable that you are sitting at the screen at all. Personally, while watching Wright movies, I feel like I’m stuck in the tape, as if I’m there watching everything. And you know, that's great.
The music is at exactly the level it should be in movies like this, and when it’s turned off, you want it back. But don’t worry, you’re going to enjoy the soundtrack even more.
As a result, we have a competent combination of comedy, action and several other genres, so I advise everyone to watch the zombie apocalypse, as seen by a magnificent director named Edgar.

I'm not going to say there are still fish in the sea. That if you love her, let her go. I won’t say the words, but I will tell you this is not the end of the world.
How many movies have the living dead been made? A great many. How much more will be filmed? At least twice as much. Why is that? And all because humanity is frightened by the unknown, and what could be more mysterious and unknown than death? What awaits us there, beyond being, and does it await us at all? What if the dead have been to the next world and they didn’t like what they saw, and returning from the dead, zombies decide to take out their rage and anger on the living? Only living people do not want to put up with such arbitrariness and even if there is nothing beyond the border, no one wants to die anyway, and people value their brains as a memory. Why did I start this conversation? And to the fact that we received on fire, perhaps the most correct film about the invasion of the living dead. So this is "A Zombie Named Sean."
The film is about a young man named Sean. Unexpected, isn't it? He has a loving girlfriend, Liz, who wants the hero to grow up and finally learn to take responsibility for his actions. Sean has an "interesting" job that he doesn't get a penny for. He lives with his best friend Ed, who spends all his free time at computer games, stupid pranks, and eating fast food. And Ed is always willing to share useless advice. And it seems Ed pulls Sean to the bottom, but the main character simply can not point the door to the person with whom he grew up, and who, in fact, is his only friend. Also, the main character has a very strained relationship with his stepfather Philip, who is a harsh and tough man and who is no stranger to physical violence. Sean is just an ordinary person in the crowd. Just like you and me, you won’t look at it twice. And Sean would most likely be brewing in his own juice, but suddenly a zombie apocalypse popped up. The military has disappeared somewhere, as always. On TV, the announcer strongly recommends locking yourself in your home and not letting anyone in. Sean is the only person capable of making informed and thoughtful decisions, and his first thoughts will be to go to the city center to lock himself in a bar. The decision, of course, more than controversial, but let’s still wish the hero luck in his crazy adventure. He's gonna need it, that's for sure.
Despite the fact that the film positions itself as a subtle English comedy about the invasion of the living dead, it is also a drama about our life. After all, you can see how the world is slowly changing. Military trucks pass, there are more and more announcements about missing people, some unknown virus is trumpeted on the news, and people around them begin to behave strangely. But do the main characters of the picture notice this? No, because they have a lot of problems of their own, and things like taking public transport or going to the grocery store become routine, and many things escape the person’s attention. And with my hand on my heart, this is a brilliant find. After all, in horror movies, the characters are constantly wondering why the zombie apocalypse came or why fish people wander the streets, and the answer is simple – people simply did not notice the obvious things, being absorbed in their affairs and problems. The characters of the picture did not notice this, but will we notice when the time comes?
As for the people who starred in the film, they are all talented and famous actors or, as in the case of Nick Frost, they will get fame after the release of this picture in the rental. The characters turned out to be bright, interesting, not similar to each other and most importantly memorable. And this applies to both the main characters and minor actors up to zombies in pajamas, which appeared in the film for just a few minutes. And this already speaks not only about the talent of the actors, but also the director and screenwriter of the picture - Edgar Wright, who was able to present heroes and situations so that they will be imprinted in memory for a long time.
The musical accompaniment is also selected just perfectly and life-affirming melodies, coupled with a horde of dead people that pursue the main characters, create the right mood, and it is very difficult to keep a smile looking at the ongoing ugliness.
As for the visual part, despite the fact that the creators of the picture had more than a modest budget, they were able to do the main thing, namely, to convince the viewer that we are really a zombie calepsis, and not another Halloween celebration as it happens in most modern horror films. Hollywood directors have a lot to learn from these guys.
Summing up, I want to say that this movie is funny, fascinating and, importantly, a smart spectacle that can be seen both alone and in a friendly campaign. A good mood is guaranteed.
Well, let’s start with a director like Edgar Wright, a British director who, in my opinion, turned all the basic concepts of a zombie movie. And as you can guess, this is a film called “Zombie named Sean”, released in 2004. Well, let's start...
Plot
Sean’s life is like an endless, dreary dream: tedious work, domestic squabbles, “disassembly” with a girlfriend and problems with her mother. Our guy's only outlet is the local beer room, where he "sits" after work with his friend named Ed.
You will not believe, but the dead lay in the graves: they decided to diversify their dull existence and were going to “toss” around the city, eating fresh living flesh!
A zombie epidemic begins with the participation of a huge number of strapped living corpses, which are very hungry and eager to bite human flesh!
And who do you think will be able to put an end to the evil dawn of the dead? Of course, Sean, who, for the sake of such an occasion, rose ... from the couch, armed with a bat and prepared to give zombies a thorough tumac! Now our new superhero must save not only humanity, but also ... his collection of records!
The narrative in the film is beautiful, everything is dynamic, exciting. All the components of this kinets are observed perfectly: some echoes of thrash, humor (it is worth noting that the director is British, so there is pure English humor, and it is beautiful in all respects of the word). In the film there are bloody scenes, but where without them in zombie movies.
Characters and actors
All the characters are worked out in detail, Edgar Wright is a great guy that tried and made characters that really amuse the viewer, for whom you worry, for whom you are happy.
The main character “Sean” performed by Simon Pegg is beautiful. I learned about Pegg thanks to this film, and since 2005 I began to follow his work and express a huge “thank you” to the film, which showed, I can say, the Great, I will not be afraid of this word, British actors.
Nick Frost, another "Great" coped with "Hurrah!" His role is interesting, I really like it, as well as the actor.
There are many more characters and actors who performed the roles, so I will be brief: Great!
As a result, we have a beautiful comedy, a zombie comedy that everyone will like from “old and young” (it will not like only those who take zombie themes into bayonets). The humor in the movie, as I said, is great. And it was this film that gave us what I call the British trio: Wright + Pegg + Frost. For those who haven’t seen it, look at it!
9 out of 10
P.S. This is the first instalment of the Cornetto trilogy, so I’ll be reviewing the other two in the coming week.
This is a funny comedy about another zombie apocalypse. Only these zombies, not very convincing turned out: slow and slightly stoned. It all looked ridiculous. Although it is clear why they are. If zombies were faster and more aggressive, the main characters would have died at the beginning of the film. And how do I know what a zombie really looks like? Since the creators of the picture thought that they should look like this, then it must be accepted. But it doesn't make sense. You don't have to hide from them. It would be safe to walk down the street, drinking juice, and not sit at home with curtains pulled up, as the news anchor in the film asked.
Sean is the guy whose life the film is about. He has a boring robot, eternal troubles with his mother and beloved girl, in general - "life beats the key", in the case of Sean - wrench. The only consolation of the guy is his friend Ed, with whom they hang out every day in his favorite bar called Winchester. Our loser gradually begins to notice strange things happening around him, but does not attach any importance to it. And here's another gray weekday. Sean wakes up in the morning and goes to a store across the street to buy soda and ice cream for himself and his friend Ed. Along with them lives another guy – Pete (much more serious than both), well, at least not so shook as, for example, the same Ed. When Sean gets home, the fun moments I expected to see begin. That was probably the only thing that made me happy. I only laughed for the first half of an hour. To be honest, I expected more.
Edgar Wright managed to shoot a medium comedy about zombies. Despite the fact that in the description it is presented as a horror movie, the most terrible thing I saw in it is the hygienic state and order in the room of two friends, where they did nothing but play console and poisoned with semi-finished products. There is no point in talking about other characters, they do not create weather in the film. Some people don’t create anything at all except a species. I am talking about the same Dian and David. One gets the impression that they starred only for number, or the actors began to have problems with finances, so they took on these roles.
Martin Freeman was surprised, who was in the frame for no more than 10 seconds. But that's not the point. The savvy of the main characters is completely absent. They travel a few streets almost entirely packed with zombies to hide in a beer room. Because it's supposed to be safer. I understand that this is a thrash, where you do not need to look for logic, but still the writers would do well to create characters who at least know how to move their brains, otherwise you start waiting for Sean and his friends, for such a stupid action, will not be eaten by a bunch of slow and almost harmless, but very biting zombies. And if you remember the incredibly delusional moment with a dart dart. In general, there is almost no logic in the film, which I did not like at all.
“Zombie by the name of Sean” (the title is also illiterately translated or remade) – a movie not more than once or twice. Humor, as I wrote earlier, is a good English humor. We can note a good acting of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. That's all.
If you want to relax a little and watch a movie with good jokes, the same actors and less than average plot, you can spend your time on Sean. Lovers of this genre should like, well, or not so much, like me. The movie is for the amateur, and all that drags him is a few funny moments. And to you, friends, in any case, I wish you a pleasant view!

We all used to play comedy to relax and forget about it the next day. But for all its apparent comedic superficiality, Sean is a reusable movie. In any case, you will not be able to fully taste the first taste of the “Cornetto trilogy” with one bite. But before we understand why, a little about what kind of fruit is in front of us.
“Z” was a real breakthrough for the young British film director Edgar Wright. In talent he can not deny, but knew Wright in 2004, only not very numerous then fans of the series Spaced (something Wright and “zombie” for extras of the dead in “Shawn”). And it was with “Sean” that he broke into the cinema, demolishing everyone and everything with his signature jerky-aggressive editing and gloomy-absurd English humor performed by the unique geek duo Pegg and Frost.
Ot label of the director-parody Wright is discarded, and, in my opinion, quite rightly. After all, despite his amazing ability to notice and collect all the most worn and tired stamps, at the exit he gives something completely fresh and unique, wrapping spoiled movie clichés in such a candy that you ask for supplements.
It’s hard to say how many times I turned on Sean, but every time I thought, “Well, now I’m not going to notice anything new here.” I noticed. This is because the film is almost woven with quotes and self-citations. The names of shops and restaurants turn out to be graceful curts towards classic zombie horrors, replicas from Romero suddenly flash, and the script is simply stuffed with hyperlinks to itself: "Next time I see him - he is a corpse", and indeed - a corpse, "If you want to live like an animal - go to the barn", and Ed (Nick Frost) really turns out to be in the barn. Not all of this luxury can be caught in dubbing, from the untranslatable title consonant with "Dawn of dead" to the pun dialogue: "- She's engaged! - Quick girl! So subtitles and basic English would not be superfluous.
To the cast can not resist, Wright is proud of his constancy, so his cast & crew is more a friendly family than colleagues. Pegg and Frost are best friends in life, so their “chemistry” is always charming, Dylan Moran also does not need an introduction, Bill Nighy and Penelope Wilton are brilliant, can not but delight and a whole scattering of cameos: Jessica Stevenson and Peter Serafinovich (hello from Spaced), Martin Freeman, not yet burdened with the glory of “Silok” and “The Hobbit”, Moran’s colleague on “Black books” Tesin Greg and even the band Coldplay... Watching such a movie for fans of British television is like getting to a party of old friends - a complete pleasure and pleasant surprises in the form of familiar faces.
Tut and there are neatly laid out "Easter eggs", referring us to Spaced ( "Not my boyfriend!"), and hung hooks, which will catch Wright's next paintings "Type of tough cops" and (sorry adapters) "Armageddian": again ice cream and again fences. Surprisingly, these self-repeats do not make Edgar’s films boring or predictable, but add a special charm and a pleasant sense of recognition. Like the best friends whose local jokes are clear only to them. In this, Wright can be compared at least with Tarantino: in the references and interweavings of Quentin’s films, too, without a bottle and Wikipedia can not be understood from the first or from the twenty-first time. Tarantino, by the way, “Shona” appreciated. As, in general, the main inspiration of the film is George Romero. He was the first to whom Pegg and Wright sent their offspring for blessing. Romero liked the brainchild so much that he gave the guys a couple of cameos in “Land of the Dead”.
Despite the fact that comedies are not often said this way, but this is really a very smart movie, and Wright’s ability to sculpt from a very modest budget great films is worth learning from many blockbusters, swelling millions into advertising alone. Apparently, the experience of his early shorts, where brains were replaced by soaked pink toilet paper, and broken teeth – chewed “Tick-Tak”. The quality and range of capabilities have certainly grown since then, but ingenuity has remained. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, it's also just killer!

Once upon a time, Zombimouvi learned to make scary. That's what they originally intended. But at one point, I don’t know exactly why, it turned into a comedy. "Evil Dead - 3" became the starting point of films of this genre, in its popularity surpassing horror.
Maybe before the fear of the unknown, by nature, a person jokes in hopeless moments, thereby trying to save his psyche from self-destruction.
As a result, today we have several excellent films about the living dead in a shade of satire: “Zombie named Sean”, “Zombieland”, “Evil Dead – 3”, “Zombie Fighter (Juan de los Muertos)”. I will not even name so many successful “tru Zobmimuvi”, and this is not the entire list.
If you take not only the living dead, but also the “infectious”, my list will be: “Dawn of the Dead”, “I Am Legend”, “28 Days Later”, “World War Z”. I'm not touching the classic.
The review was not so much about the plot, the actors, the atmosphere or other aspects of the film. Because that's all right.
“Zombie named Sean” is a must-see, in good fun company. After all, when real zombies come to Earth, you and your friends with the same humor will be saved in your favorite bar, and after watching this film your actions will be coordinated.

Well, let's start alphabetically... The Zombie thing. Thanks to the make-up zombies turned out very spectacular. What I like most about Wright’s films is his desire to show everything as it is, his noble desire to show reality. So if you want the creepy living dead, get it! Bonus are episodes with high blood content, screams and eaten entrails. In general, blood lovers, the filmmakers definitely pleased.
Atmosphere
The second feature of this masterpiece is the ability to catch up with the viewer the feeling that soon this lovely world will end and wild hell will begin. It seems that everything is fun and relaxed, but suddenly in your relaxed brain begins to move a nasty thing called a very bad feeling. Not everyone, even a very experienced director can create such, I repeat, not everyone.
Spoilers and stamps Immediately I will say-stamps, hollywood and spoilers you in this film will not see. In my review, you might see a couple, in the movie, no. Hollywood beauties, happy ending, happy riddance of the city from zombies is not observed here, sorry if upset.
Actors
I'm not going to say anything about Nick Frost and the great Mr. Simon P. They're always on top. A little upset the role of Diana (Lucy Davis) – girlfriend Liz. It seemed to me useless, it was invented only to fill an easy void in the composition of the main characters.
I'm not going to tell you the story. Those who have seen it know, those who have not seen it are better to see than to read it.
Thank you for reading
Of course, I have heard about this movie a long time ago. After all, it was filmed ... a long time ago. But somehow I didn't see him. Nothing, my eyes are slowly opening. The eyelids will not always be like this.
This movie is almost genius. He's a real miracle.
One topic is taken. And it's designed to the point. Edgar Wright is really good.
There is a huge amount of quotes. Where else? Sometimes dialogue fills up what is happening on the screen. But it's nothing.
The only reproach against this film. Fighting zombies is done carefully. In the same “Zombieland” it was at the fights that the creators broke away completely. One excuse. The contractions themselves don't matter. And one more thing. The movie was made a long time ago. The third film of Wright’s trilogy will probably be more ambitious.
"We don't pronounce the word "Z."
On the other hand, is it so important to see a lot of brains and special effects? The action takes place in England. The atmosphere of the place is perfect. Sean is a true Englishman. Tradition comes first. He walks the same way to his favorite store. And Ed does not want to wait for the invasion in an unfamiliar place.
The pub is another part of British life. It’s even a way of life to some extent. The first thought that comes to mind is to go to the pub.
Planning is a very important detail. Sean even in a binge writes in his notebook his goals in life. And the way he and Ed drew up the release plan is something. And one of the last scenes. So what's the plan?
The love line and the drama are very well developed. Sean, whatever you say, he's a real hero. He was constantly trying to find a way out, organizing his friends. Of course, he didn't succeed. They learn from mistakes.
The presence of actors such as Lucy Davis and Martin Freeman was delighted. The last thing I remember is my short haircut. Bill Nighy is good too.
Whatever happens, life goes on. You can get used to everything. What happened after the decline of the infection is real. Studies, slaves, shows, charity concerts. The unusual soon becomes ordinary. And it's part of life. So going to the barn will soon become a matter of course.
A comedy with horror elements. I love these movies. Funk, I love them.
“I’ll stop doing that when you stop laughing.”

P.S. Special thanks for the quote of the movie “No matter how you turn, you lose”. It's also a great movie.
What would you do if you had a zombie apocalypse tomorrow morning?
I'd get up and reach out and think, "If you're around zombies, you don't have to pair up." I mean, you can sleep longer. All right, sleep well. Then what? Call a girl, ask her how you doing? Let's say she's home, there's zombies. What do we do? Whether to go to her, or stay in a student dormitory, where half the people in the morning from zombies exactly can not distinguish. Especially women who love cosmetics, who have not yet applied this cosmetics. Yeah, business. If I did, I would probably watch this movie again.
The movie is not about zombies, of course. No, there are zombies in the movie, there are a lot of them. And the name speaks of them. But the film is about human relations: mother and son, son with stepfather, friends, friends, and, of course, lovers. Oh, yeah, and zombie people. All this in moderation is sprinkled with exquisite sharp English humor. Played beautifully, too. By the way, Simon Pegg very clearly and vividly conveys the transformation of his hero from a loser into a rather brave guy. And yes, this movie about zombies I probably do not remember.

Very original conceived and perfectly served. Everybody watch!
I can’t help but put all the cards on the table: A Zombie Named Sean is a great movie in general and a hysterically funny comedy in particular. The trio of inseparable British humorists - Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost - produced a brilliant parody of the genre of Zombocalypse, which deservedly immediately received the status of a cult.
The main character named Sean is a thirty-year-old loser who lives with an even more troublesome university friend Ed, and works in an electronics store in a lower position worthy of pimples. When a girl finally abandons him and it seems that life can no longer get worse, the streets of London are flooded with crowds of the living dead.
The beauty of the film lies primarily in the fresh and witty sense of humor with which it presents the end of the world. And we are not talking about some well-fitting toilet jokes - the irony here goes almost to the conceptual level, turning into a social satire. If most zombie movies focus on how dramatically life changes fighting for survival people after the invasion of the dead, “Sean” on the contrary mockingly shows the absence of any significant differences. Ordinary residents of London in their usual surroundings resemble zombies no less than they do after turning into the living dead. It is no accident that the main character in the first hours after the invasion does not notice absolutely no difference, successfully interacting with others in the usual way.
In fact, the plot of the film can be interpreted as a parable. Sean wants to change a lot of things in his life – and he’s certainly planning to make a big change tomorrow. It's been about ten years for him tomorrow. "Nothing, everything will be fine" - reassures his friend - "not the end of the world!" However, a sudden apocalypse in an allegorical sense forces the main character to tear his ass off the couch and begin to solve the accumulated problems. To sort out the relationship with the stepfather, to bring the girl back, to punch the snout of her rival. Even when his friend Ed says the classic phrase “Leave me behind, I’m a burden to you” – it’s really about rethinking their relationship in life, not about a banal plan to escape from zombies.
As a result, the whole mess with the dead is nothing more than a colorfully visualized personal growth of Sean. It is noteworthy that only the main character changes in the course of the film - even Ed at the end is not at all burdened with the new format of his existence in the shed. Yes, and the world as a whole, that after the zombiecalypse is no different. That’s just the new Sean in it to live much more fun.
Oh yes, I said that everything is shown to be hellishly funny?

Before us is the rare case when the genres of comedy and horror are closely intertwined, and at the same time, after watching there are positive impressions.
There is an unknown infection that quickly takes over a small town. People turn into mindless zombies, and a small group of survivors try not to fall into their bloody hands. A little bored opening scenes, where we are introduced to the main characters. British humor has not lost its charm, but still the real interest arises immediately after the onset of infection. Zombies in this film are very slow and largely due to this, the characters manage to wash over them, and turn into a farce every dangerous situation. Cruelty in the film is quite a bit, at least in comparison with similar films. There is just enough blood and violence here to keep people interested. The humor itself is mostly tied to the behavior of characters near zombies. Then they pretend to be the living dead to mix with the bloodthirsty crowd, then practice their skills on the attached zombie. All this causes a genuine smile, especially given the almost complete lack of seriousness in what is happening. Even the end of this story will surprise you with its originality and again a departure from the usual in such situations. You probably wouldn’t want to see the dead on the street. Yes, they are slow and inventive, but still fit the canon of evil zombies hungry for your flesh. The minimum budget was worked out to the last coin - what only costs the number of extras in some frames, and makeup here at a decent level.
At no point do not want to tear with laughter, but a slight smile helps to dilute the usual seriousness of stories about the living dead. A one-time movie, maybe twice.
The picture of the wonderful English director Edgar Wright “Zombie by the name of Sean” opened to the mass audience a sparkling acting duet of comedians Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who at the moment are practically the best in their field, which proves the last joint film of the heroes at the moment – “Sex: a secret material”.
To be honest, I didn’t hear anything about Wright’s director and comedian duo until 2004, but a huge amount of material and admiring critics about parodying all the zombie horrors made me watch their creation. Especially when I found out that the film involved the wonderful Bill Nighy, whom I respected after “Love Actually” where he brilliantly eclipsed all the star actors as rock star Billy Mac!
“Zombie named Sean” begins with the life of two thirty-year-old losers, one of whom (Pegg) works as a salesman and is afraid of a serious relationship with his girlfriend, and the second (Frost) is a lazy and a big fan of games on a digital console. The story itself is mainly led by the hero Simon Pegg, who in normal life behaves like apathetic and spineless zombie. Hence the title of the painting. But our heroes can be reeducated. And the only method not so simple is the global zombie apocalypse! Of course, the heroic plan to save family and friends in the pub is overgrown with a lot of comedic situations and it entertains the viewer perfectly!
The film really picked up a brilliant cast, a huge amount of black humor, but also enough lyrical moments, especially in the performance of the above-mentioned Bill Nighy. His hero, Philip, stepfather Sean, has a difficult relationship with his stepson, but even before the inevitable death, he makes it clear that the family is the most important in a person’s life and for the sake of its salvation you need to go to the end.
The final scenes of the film, especially the zombie attack, are entertainingly and dynamically set to the music of the unforgettable Queen and their composition “Don’t stop me now”, which adds an unprecedented emotional charge to the picture and makes you forget for a while about the really sad moments present in the finale.

Look around when you go to the store for ice cream.
About what
Sean is a salesman-consultant in a home appliance store, lives with friends Ed and Pete, in the evenings hangs out in a nearby bar or cuts himself into a console, there is a girlfriend Liz, whom he loses in the first 20 minutes of the film. The life of Sean and the whole town is creeping at the speed of a snail. Not surprisingly, when an unknown virus has turned half of the city into vile, dumb-headed zombies, Sean and Ed manage to ignore the changes! Well, when the invasion of the dead becomes obvious, they go... to save the world. No, I'm kidding, my own ass, of course.
Opinion:
You know, I'm wary of American comedies, because the expression "stupid American comedy" hasn't really fallen off the ceiling. I don’t like these standard burps, burps, crackers and other “spooky funny things” that abound in such movies freaks.
“A Zombie Named Sean” bribed me with a rather high rating, the presence of awards and a lot of free time, and in general it did not become wasted. Surprisingly, it was really funny! Still, there is a fine line that distinguishes "stupid American" from just comedy, and the creators managed not to cross it. Perhaps sometimes the creep to the left was, but they are somehow Americans, so to speak, forgiven.
I really liked the parallel between Sean and the other villagers and the zombies. For example, the girl cashier before and after metamorphosis was almost indistinguishable. Constant jokes over the rhythm of Ed’s life, over the expression of Barbara, Sean’s mother, are made in an unobtrusive manner, but they create the atmosphere of cinema. In addition, a stupid comedy can not be called for the reason that it makes you think about quite serious things ... for example, look at yourself and try to find the maximum number of differences between yourself and the mythological hero (I mean a zombie, not a mermaid).
Watch:
(a) when in a bad mood because it is really funny
(b) when the state of ala is a "sofa animal" (a striking number of points of contact can be detected)
(c) if you are a fan of Naked Gun or Scary Movie parody movies
d) as well as skeptics, phlegmatics and provincial residents (the guys in these groups will understand me).
Summary: Look around when you go to the store for ice cream. That's it.
In his genre almost excellent:
Sean is an ordinary Briton in every sense of the word, having a tedious job as a salesman, a difficult relationship with his girlfriend and parents and a lazy friend Ed, with whom he regularly spends time in a local pub. And so would flow monotonous life Sean, if London was not flooded with zombies and Sean’s life went in a completely new direction.
Edgar Wright's film "Zombie Named Sean" is a great example of comedic zombie horror, full of typically British humor and mockery of the numerous clichés of the zombie movie genre. Edgar Wright and the acting duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost created a brilliant, if not particularly bloody, comedy zombie horror, in which funny scenes are combined with tense in equal numbers.
Extremely interesting in the film is directing, attracting attention from the first frames. The cameraman David M. Dunlap combines in the film a fast, clip change of frames, parodying the style of Darren Aronofsky, and long, very interesting plans, giving the film a scale.
The actors in the film play convincingly and amusingly, because in addition to the charismatic main characters, there are successful secondary characters played by Bill Nighy, Lucy Davis and Kate Ashfield. The dialogue in the film is very witty and interesting.
I recommend this great film to all fans of black comedies and fans of unusual zombie horrors. The film will improve your mood for a long time and, despite the specific humor, the tape is a real masterpiece.

Like many current Wright-Pegga-Frost fans, I was hooked by Hot Fuzz. Seen by the second “Sean of the Living Dead” at first seemed not so cool and stalking. In fact, of course, Hot Fuzz is already removed from “Sean” cream; and “Sean” itself is a milestone film and must-see. From the incredibly simple idea that most of us lead a zombie life with monotonous stupefying work and the same rest, Pegg and Wright made a vivid romantic comedy about the crisis of relationships, along the way radically raising the bar of genre parodies.
We can see a huge cinematic experience Wright: in addition to references to zombie horror, the film quotes a huge array of Hollywood classics from Alien to Commandos. In “Shawn” tested once and for all found Wright’s method of “dynamic camera”, which will then shoot all 100 in Wright’s film on the video game (“Scott Pilgrim vs. All”). Finally, this film is largely based on the genres of the British stand up comedy: a long story with many personal and touching moments - and therefore has for us also a cultural value.
This story is not about becoming a hero. Already in the advertising sounds that the heroism of Sean is fully enclosed in the separation of the body from the sofa. Sean is a simple English guy who can tell his mother that his adoptive father touched him as a child so she wouldn’t get upset when he becomes a zombie. But then he'll tell you he lied. He's not seven inches. A brilliant plan to save loved ones is to sit in a pub and drink beer there until the end of the world. Sean’s real accomplishment is to move on an unsophisticated list of things, including “getting Liz back” and “getting his life in order.” Sean appreciates those for whom he is a hero - and while he doesn't look too different from zombies, that makes him human. By the way, it is no coincidence that when something important for the relationship of the heroes happens, zombies go somewhere - go by the wayside or disappear as ghosts of boredom and philistineism, defeated by sincere feelings.
“Sean of the Living Dead” is probably an amazing guide to planning a vacation with friends. There is a record throwing competition, street racing, video games, dancing to Queen, obstacle running and a lot of alcohol. And it's all really fun.
Edgar Wright is a genius. If I didn’t answer the question about my favorite genre (Thriller!), I would call him my favorite director. This is one of them. He churns out only masterpieces, it is not Robert Rodriguez, the ratings of each new film which can float within the framework, whose lower border can jump sharply with the release of “Spy Children 5”, and the upper one – “Sin City”, no, the Briton can shoot a comedy series for pennies, whose fans would surely be enough to recreate the zombie uprising throughout England.
It's funny that Shawn has almost the same average score as American Pie. Do you like him? Well, Sean is probably not for you. His legendary British and clever humor, when compared to "Spaced," now doesn't cover the timing as thickly, though just as well. Still, this is not a series, here you need a plot and its development, you can understand that you can not as before lock the characters in the location and let them joke for one hour and forty minutes, although Wright would embody this perfectly. The plot is not original, it is initially clear that the couple will survive (although Simon Pegg finds himself in some sort of triangle, it was a surprise to me that the one who survived with him), but who cares? The main thing is how the invasion of the living dead is played, and this is what you have never seen anywhere. Indeed, in all of the zombie movies I've seen, people have somehow automatically lumped into heavily armed groups, knowing exactly what to do and how to do if finding a way to fight wasn't part of the script. They are trying to defeat the dead like this! It is worth seeing, I do not want to spoil your impression.
When I first watched Shawn, my mood was, ‘Come on, make me laugh at 8.0 on IMDb!’ and that’s the wrong approach. You have to think and try to understand English. Are you looking at the Russian dubbing?! Your business, but you'll lose a lot. Translators never learned how to translate, not type, text into Google Translate. In a film where every letter is important, this is especially noticeable.
I hardly said anything unequivocally encouraging to watch, but I could not contribute to the increase in the percentage of positive reviews. If you have a good sense of humor, look. If you're waiting for a zombie movie, the seventeenth on IMDb's horror list, don't look. Just entertainment for the thinking.
But I'm a bit snobby and can't put comedies+zombie Movie more than

P.S. Watch "Spaced." Wright's concentrated humor.
P.P.S. The brightest cameo, lovers of English detectives will be pleased.

But isn't it fun? You get up in the morning, as if nothing had happened, you walk down the street, as usual, say, buy a Cornetto horn in a shop around the corner, with chocolate icing, and here you go!
I really liked the movie, that’s right! The movie is exciting, that's a fact. It was both funny and scary, romantic and, in some places, disgusting (zombie!), it was mind-blowingly funny and even beautiful. I was looking for humor and a “good” story. I think I did, but did you? You know, dear friends, it is possible, practically, only a Briton to shoot a cool and, I will not be afraid of the word, enchanting comedy, where someone is “eating”, and at the same time it looks very funny, funny, right!? It’s a bit like black comedy, but I wouldn’t rush to call it that.
Well, as you've probably seen, humor plays a major role in comedy. This is what drives me to see them. It’s so hard not to watch Edgar Wright’s movie. Simply put, the movie is really cool, honestly. Maybe someone does not like “British omelet with stale ham”, but this is a personal matter. I was happy and with a vivid impression on memory.
If someone asks me why, in my positive attitude, I only put eight straight, it’s probably because I’m strict. In a series of future reviews, which I hope will be, you will see how insidiously I evaluate the movie.
(P.S.) And Cornetto is such an ice cream!
This is Sean. He sells TVs at the local market. Renting an apartment with a friend who is completely unfit for adulthood. Shawn has a girlfriend he loves very much. He has a mother and a stepfather he visits every two weeks. He's not taken seriously at work. Sean gets drunk every night at the Winchester Bar. He likes such a life, the life of a hamster. And Sean can't change it, no matter how much he wants to. After work, he either gets drunk or plays video games with his friend Ed, and sometimes does both. But things will change soon. Sean, like a zombie, will rise from the couch to fight... zombies.
That's how this zombie thrash begins. Rapidly beginning zombie apocalypse, Sean noticed a few days later, so much he was immersed in his routine life. But noticing that the world has changed clearly not for the better, Sean changes before his eyes, and like a stung, rushes around London, trying to save his girlfriend, friend, mother, friends of his girlfriend. It is worth saying that Sean is hardly the most adequate character in this company, however, and he sometimes gives out idiotic ideas.
At first I was afraid that all this motley company would remain in full force, but then everything settled down. Sometimes Sean himself deserved to be eaten, but he is forgiven, after all, the main character. I am glad how clever the British government turned out to be, and, having restored order in the country, used the victims of the zombie apocalypse for their own purposes. Sean, by the way, also put his life in order. You do not need to go to your parents anymore, the girl has forgiven and returned, the problem with the best friend-loser also somehow resolved itself.
Meat in the film is surprisingly small, usually in such films, the creators try to focus all their attention on the oceans of blood and the grief of human scraps. Nick Frost is brilliant! Sometimes I wanted to be eaten without a trace, so brilliantly he played stupid Ed. Simon Pegg? Also very well coped, moderately dulled, moderately heroic. The rest are retinue, extras. Lisa, nothing at all. No emotions, no clear game.
The result is a zombie thrash of average lousy. I was glad that although the instinct of self-preservation was able to bring Sean to his senses and made him act, but given the frivolity of the project, Sean would hardly hide from the real zombie apocalypse. At least with Ed and Co.
I first saw this movie just two months ago. I had heard a lot of good reviews about it before and that’s why I decided to watch Zombie Sean. I don’t really like horror movies, although there are some of my favorites. But "A Zombie Named Sean" is a completely different story. In addition to being a horror movie, it is also a comedy. The comedy part of the film is much better than the horrors, and most scenes look more funny than scary. In many ways, this is why the movie “Zombie named Sean” I liked so much.
From the very beginning it becomes clear that we are waiting for not just a medium horror movie, but a quite decent film with elements of horror and even with English humor, which gives it even more zest and color.
In addition, the film has a great plot, which is really interesting and entertaining. Watching this picture was really easy, fun and most importantly not boring, and this is not every film, and especially horror, under force.
The film was directed by Edgar Wright. Edgar is one of the few relatively young directors whose almost all films are successful if not at the box office, then creatively.
Edgar Wright was able to make this film perfectly and make it really interesting and high-quality. This picture against the background of other comedy horror films looks to some extent fresh and given some of the nuances of the film, it can rightly be called a parody (although it is originally it). In addition, unlike other parodies, this film really parody other horror films, and does not show complete frank nonsense. This is a big plus of the picture.
The main roles in “Zombie named Sean” went to the comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who were perfectly able to play their characters.
Simon Pegg was able to play his hero perfectly and show him in a truly comical and fun way. Thanks to his appearance, which can sometimes cause a smile, he managed to play his character even better.
His co-star, Nick Frost, also played his character well. Because of his specific appearance, his character also turned out to be funny and very worthy of playing.
In addition, Kate Ashfield, Lucy Davis, Dylan Moran, Nicolas Cunningham, Keir Mills and others were remembered.
I would also like to mention the soundtrack of the film. In this picture, the music was quite good and absolutely suited to what was happening on the screen.
Bottom line: a great comedy horror movie and just a great start to the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy.
