While the life of a small metropolitan clerk begins to shine with new career rays, promising him a fresh tide of petty philistine happiness, somewhere far away, in the vast expanses of the country, a great happiness is forged in a large country of workers and peasants. It is only through a curious coincidence that yesterday’s master of scores, having drawn his head, throws himself into a boiling working life, with fire in his eyes and an axe in his hand! .
The filmmakers skillfully showed the “heavy birth” of a person of work: in a close male team, sometimes under prickly ridicule, in exhausting physical exertion, in unattractive household conditions, in a harsh climate, a soft-bodied single intellectual began to form as a full-fledged social personality.
The director was very gentle with the audience, because, despite all the features of the main character, he was able to demonstrate the most comfortable his entry into the rigid male team. This is shown as an edification to grassroots leaders to be attentive and sensitive to subordinates, to forgive them the inevitable first mistakes, to help in psychological adaptation. Also, the team showed a restrained reaction to the unpleasant behavior of the protagonist, categorically unacceptable in such situations. Unfortunately, many such episodes did not receive proper disclosure and finalization, but the idea of the authors was not in the psychological encouragement of the viewer, but only in broad strokes to show the contrast between the life of THE and THIS, and how ridiculous a person can look in unusual situations. So to say, a lesson for good young people is to show, at least on negative examples, how not to do.
In the film there is a good male humor, but still balanced and restrained, so as not to injure a sensitive “broad viewer”, this is not “Full Metal Jacket”, we do not need this here.
The lyrical plot line is very gentle, almost airy, unobtrusive and very charming. Even an element of "combat ol'enism" has been added.
Special. According to the plot, the motivation of the hero is somewhat unsightly expressed, it is almost impossible to believe in it, since it is difficult to imagine that even a very inadequate person suddenly made such a serious fateful decision. In part, the hero proved later that he too has his own inner core and character, but at the time of the decision this was not obvious. However, this can be taken as a model of masculine character: firmly make decisions, and steadily follow the goal.
I am not sure that Alexander Demyanenko was the best option for this role, but he coped perfectly.
Conclusion. Production comedy with light humor, light lyrics, and with the right heavy national meaning. A sample of the right motivating film. Not a masterpiece, but you can safely see.
I don't know where to start. I'll start with a good one. Honor and praise to Leonid Gaidai, who managed to see such a colossal potential in an actor who stars in such films. Now for the movie...
The characters are written grotesquely or even caricatured. Cartoon intellectuals, caricature workers, cartoonists, it is not clear who - everyone else. Yes, Demyanenko even played this in good faith, so the image turned out to be a monstrous force. As a crybaby and an amoeba, he remained. Nothing to him. At least the sky falls to the ground.
What the authors wanted to show was unclear. If the intellectual, imbued with the romance of work in the fresh air, it did not work. There is no change in character, as he was an armless whiner, so he remained. The rest of the characters are also cardboard, they seem to walk, say something, and you do not feel any living people behind them. No humor. Looking at the amoeba is not interesting, although in some moments it seems to be funny, but filmed so skillfully that it does not even cause a smile. The only thing that the character seems to succeed in is in his activities in the savings bank, and the fact that we show him there for two minutes and for them he manages to screw up like a king - overpay the client for a tidy sum. Why he was going to be promoted is absolutely unclear. How incomprehensible is the so-called “love line”. Some foreman, who she is, what she is, what stands out among the rest - the authors are lazy to tell. Where did you find her crying, why did you suddenly get tired? Also, think for yourself. No, it's clear that he, as the world champion in strangling a leather snake, any woman is a curiosity, but somehow it's too small. And the champion of this can also be funny to show, for example, as in ' Mask' with Jim Carrey. And here, it seems, the authors themselves have not decided whether they shoot a comedy, a film story or a production film. By the way, the production is quite good, even atmospheric. And everything about characters and relationships is very, very weak. Someone saw Demyanenko secretly hamstering a common food - whatever. That is, they focused on this and did not shoot at all. Someone refused to work overtime to sneeze. As, apparently, the authors of the film and the audience. Critics at one time scolded the film and, most often, on the case. The only thing I don't agree with is the snow song. No, it's not vulgar, it's just empty, like the movie itself. Something like 'Tu-lu-la, tu-lu-la, tou-tu-lu-la, tou-tu-tu-lu-la with the wind in the head inflated la-la-a...'. Very. Very weak.
I would recommend watching only those who are bored with Soviet reality (or rather, in reality, as it was shown in Soviet cinema) and fans of Alexander Demyanenko. Only consider that his local hero to the character of the films Gaidai as to the moon on foot.
2 out of 10.
Promising careerist Dima Gorin works as a financier of the state labor bank. One day he gives out extra money, takes a vacation without saving wages, goes to the taiga at his own expense to find a builder to whom he overpaid, return the shortage.
In the taiga with working people, a home Moscow boy tries alcohol, meets the broken Brigadier Galya, lies in snowdrifts at night. In general, he learns the air of freedom from adults as it is. And it does not matter that there are no conditions for the construction of the Siberia-Ural power line, they live in a common barracks, eat from one boiler, wash themselves in the pelvis if the water remains, and outside the frost window there are forty da boranas, and in summer angry mosquitoes the size of a hummingbird. The main thing is the atmosphere. And our hero gets a job in the construction team handyman. It is very easy to give up a good job, comfort and change the city apartment for a house in the wilderness. There would be a wish. Read about Gautama Buddha.
Male transformation. From an armless mama's son, who can neither hold a saw nor a fire can support to burn, the guy turns into an independent person capable of surviving in extreme conditions. Taiga is tempering, but not ennobling. The glasses migrate from the nose to the inner pocket of the calf, the hands become rough, the back in the relief of muscles. Here they are, Soviet bodybuilders. Special diet - pasta, stew and concentrate. BJU has not yet been invented.
23-year-old Vladimir Vysotsky has a secondary role as one of the working brigade. Beautiful as dawn, of course. Eyes shoot, charisma overflows. Young, healthy, fervent. Women clamped, everyday wisdom demonstrated. Good role.
A warm, sincere movie. Filled with the murmur of rivers and the smell of needles.
For the first time I decided to write a review of the film. Perhaps because having received pleasant emotions from watching and looking at the review, I saw that many of them are very negative and sharp, like a whip. And I thought that the film is very good and deserves, maybe not top in the rating, but..attention, that's for sure.
First, the minuses. Yes, the film is 61 years old, and many moments are defined by that. A bit of agitation, but not so much that the eye goes off. A little naive.
But a lot of pluses.
If you translate into a modern way, the film is about a man who, at a certain, already high level of life, having many benefits and career prospects, suddenly, despite the flow and will of his relatives, refuses this all for the sake of love and hard work, when the result of this work is not just work in an 8 to 7 office, but work in difficult conditions, in the depths of Siberia. In general, about downshfting and about finding yourself.
Personally, I received a lot of pleasant and positive impressions. Have a good time!
Deciding to read more about the filmography of Vysotsky, I came across this film. In the genre, it is listed as a comedy and I naively believed that it would be something like the favorite “Girls”, “Spring on Zarechnaya Street” and others. But, dear film lovers, this is some Soviet banter and ruthless agitation, honest Komsomol. And almost from the first to the last frame. And on the logical component of the plot, the directors did not care deeply. Everyone must apparently, according to their plan, take as given that the “woman is a poet’s dream” carved out of magazines turned out to be like two drops of water like the main character, and that she immediately fell in love with the “intellectual” for no apparent reason, absolutely not knowing his moral appearance, and that without looking at all sorts of schools of the main character he is still left in the brigade, etc., etc., etc. In short, I have never seen so many “royals in the bushes” in any Soviet film. And all this is on display, deliberately, convex, grotesque, rude in the manner of lubrication, so that by the end of the viewing, more or less serious viewer would become creepy. It is good that I do not belong to their number and closer to the middle of viewing perceived this Soviet propaganda agitation as a fun banter and even thrash.

It’s not like your aunt’s. There's no one to drool...
Recalling the wonderful film of the Soviet period “The Career of Dima Gorin”, I decided to write a review about it.
Going to the page with the film, I saw how little has been written about it at the moment. Amazing. There are even negative ones, after reading them, I quickly realized that they were written, most likely, by the modern generation of “consumption”. Oh, come on.
This film is my favorite, and not because I grew up in Soviet times, and the grass used to be greener and the sky bluer, but because this film is primarily about love, about human relationships and about mutual support. Watching this film, come associations with the films “Girls”, “Aleshkin’s Love”.
The film has a wonderful game of an excellent and slightly underrated actor Alexander Demyanenko, looking at which, you do not remember about his famous “Shurik”. He perfectly reproduced the “bad nerd” who emerged, as it is now fashionable to say, from the “comfort zone”.
Beautiful and actress Tatiana Konyukhova, who looks feminine and combative fervent. She is very suitable for the role of “lady of the heart”, in which it is impossible not to fall in love. In spite of its original design.
In the picture there is also a young, beginning at that time actor Vladimir Vysotsky - a merry driver - the future famous detective Zheglov.
The film perfectly shows the warm personal relationships of the main characters. The idea of friendship and trust in the working team is well presented.
The film looks very easy, a volley, without any significant scenario distortions and logical blunders. All the main characters (and not only them) are colorful, bright and memorable.
There are a lot of witty and humorous quotes that have entered my personal lexicon. It is clear that the writers worked well dialogue.
Here some "smart" criticize the film for ideology. Like, it’s agitation, everyone needs to work hard, fell the forest, build communism, and not sit in a warm office.
Personally, I don’t see any strong ideological influence in this film. There is no mention of Lenin, Stalin, Communism or the Party. On the contrary, it feels free. And the fact that the workers are installing a power line is an attack on the freedom and reason of man? Yes, the film seems to praise work, collectiveness and is critical of selfishness. But all this is presented neatly, logically and with humor, which this film cannot take away. It would be very strange if the picture would welcome laziness and extreme possessiveness.
In the end, the main character remained in the taiga not because of the will of the party or love of labor and communism, but because of the love for a woman who, according to her life experience, can move a lot.
And yet, dear critics of communism, if you watched the film to the end, then the voiceover with a bit of humor says that Gorin, if he wants, can return to his financial activities and even become Minister of Finance. Here is the agitation of communism.
Even after a few decades, the film looks fresh, interesting with not outdated humor.
I put the film in my personal film library with a mandatory periodic viewing to raise a good mood.

Carefully tracking the plot, you try to find at least a grain of kindness, sincerity, interest that defeats people to go to each other. People are equal to each other, embraced by a single idea, faith in the best. After all, friends.
From the point of view of physical labor, the story of the work of the labor collective is shown in the film life.
But, throughout the film, the thought that there is no love, friendship, there is the concept of “herd”. If you do not smoke or drink, you are not like others. First, it is public to laugh at a person who has been drunk for the first time, and then to laugh at feelings enough. What is the meaning of this humor?
If you have a different profession, a view of life, then they will not rush to accept you either. And the team is already formed.
A society of unbred people with ridicule and jokes understandable only to local people. They live without dreams, ideas, moving, where they will be directed, where their superiors will say. Islanders.
Does becoming a man or a woman in the eyes of society mean losing the desire to live as one wishes, and not as others say?
Gorin, swapped one unloved business for another. The reason for this is love, or rather the likeness of love. At all times there have been such Romeo. However, he managed the papers better and the prospects were more. But here's the bad luck, met the girl from the "cover", which he glued.
The subject of love hasn't been revealed. Should I have disclosed it at all? Maybe that was the idea of an incomprehensible goal, an incomprehensible love.
In the film “Aleshkina Love”, the feelings, experiences of the main character are shown. And he can be trusted. And here, Gorin's empty throw. His escape from himself into the depressing society of the lower spiritual stratum. Trying to get rid of the aunt who cared for him, worried and protected. What did the main character say about it?
His unsuccessful attempt to join the group and be like everyone else. For who? His desire to prove to the collective what he is worth. For what?
In addition, Gorin turns into one of them: a withdrawn, smoking depressed person, finally understood by the local aborigines and accepted into his own circle.
Dramatically shown frivolous brigade surviving in harsh conditions. There was a feeling that they were all heading towards some fatal end.
Many believe that Alexander Demyanenko is an actor of one role. But that's not exactly true. Rather, the actor of one image is an intelligent spectacle. Only if Gaidai has such a charming eyeglass, then in Dima Gorin’s Career he is an individualist and careerist. Like two sides of the same intellectual medal. This only applies to the first half of the film. The hero to the final is reborn, realizing the importance of the public before the personal. More precisely, combining personal (love for the girl Gala Berezka) and public (Komsomol and Siberian construction). And the plot is built on the movement of the heroes to each other - through a labor feat to personal happiness.
But still the sediment from the “careerist” beginning remained, because Dima Gorin, revealed in it, is a character much more typical than Shurik for Soviet cinema. A positive image of the worker always required a contrast. And Gorin is just like that.
What is a positive image of the worker? It is a collective principle, simplicity in everyday life and circulation, openness. What is the contrast to her? Individual beginning, closeness (up to the nightstand with a lock, over which the members of the brigade joked quite maliciously), scarcity, costume against the background of unbuttoned shirts and coats against the background of jackets... Well, the attitude to work - working and intellectual.
However, the aim of the film could not be to stigmatize knowledge workers, but to justify simple work, which may not require education, but requires strong hands and a special attitude to work. That's what Gorin had to understand. That’s what’s happening.
Is there an element of propaganda in this? Wrong word! The film begins and ends with the Komsomol theme. But still there is the romance of the taiga, and youth, and “sixties”, and the brightest music of Andrei Eshpai (the famous “And the snow is coming” – a super hit of that time). And brethren are seen and “Girls”, and “Height” and even “I walk in Moscow”. Movies are related to their lyricism. But “Dima Gorin’s Career” is rather forgotten than on par with these masterpieces – here Shurik Demyanenko failed (charm of the wrong level), and some template of characters and situations, and a tangible lack of humor, and in comparison with “High” clearly lacks monumentality and drama. And yet the spirit of the time, albeit without brightness, the film conveys. That's a lot.
The beginning of the 60s is a time of new technical achievements, the introduction of them in all corners of our vast Motherland. It's space time. The country recovered from the war, experienced a change of power and began to actively build communism. It was necessary to involve young people for this. How? In addition to material incentives (which, I think, were not so great), the state actively began to promote advertising through cinema. The Soviet Union is simply a master of PR, advertising and agitation. No one will ever compare to them. Why? It works! And as pluses we are shown romance, love, tents, "fogs and smell of taiga" ...
The career of Dima Gorin is a typical propaganda picture. The general slogan is “The country doesn’t need economists, it needs electricians.” If you don’t want to, we will force you to, if you can’t, we will teach you. These short, capacious pastulates sit firmly in the human brain. The council knew all about it.
So, Dmitri Gorin. For me, he will always be Shurik. Alexander Demyanenko is just an actor of one role. But what!!! That's not the point. A savings bank employee who's about to get promoted. From an intelligent family, who knows languages and knows how to clearly do his job - count money. The voice-over (hereinafter referred to as GZK) describing him speaks very ironically and sarcastically about him, talking about “the condescension and kindness of people who feel like bosses”. By the will of chance and the authorities, Dima turns out to be on the construction of power lines in Siberia, the worker recognizes the people, falls in love with the local girl Galya, remains to work and in the end they are happy together and GZK proudly informs us that Dima has understood almost the meaning of life, now he is happy and that everything is now very good.
Galya Berezka. This girl is far from Turgenev's ideals. She's a simple Russian woman. Honestly, I can't find another word. She laughs at Dima's timidity, at his inability and intelligence. If necessary, a vodka glass for snowflakes will wave or the tree will roll up if necessary. She is not embarrassed by men’s conversations, moreover, she may well continue them. While it seems to me, this was the ideal of a Russian woman, which was worth looking up to.
Drobot's team. Wow. Sounds like an NTV series, right? Oh, times... Drobovchan (let’s call them so) are all like selection: muscular, cheerful, cheerful, smiling Komsomol members. I don't even have anyone to single out. Even Vysotsky disappeared among them. There was, however, one who refused to work without a weekend, but his filmmakers condemned for it and forced to return. In fact, I'm not sure they've read Lermontov or know Marx's monetary theory. But they famously fell the forest, stick (innocently so, damn) to the girls.
I absolutely did not like how the whole team was riding around laughing at Dima Gorin, who tried vodka for the first time. Of course, what kind of man doesn't drink vodka? And even in the course of becoming a part of the brigade, Dima takes a bovine gob from a friend and finishes it. This is also one of the attributes of the worker and do not be ashamed of it, the authors considered. There is also a community where all money is shared. The bunk. For Dima, a man with a financial background, it's just wild, but against the wind some things are very uncomfortable and hard to do. I will also note the morning gymnastics in a financial institution, which was done from the director to a simple economist. Now it is at least strange, and before it was the order of things.
Drawing conclusions, I will say that I do not like films a la “Order from...” in this case, the party. I don’t like the artificially imposed opinion of what is good or bad. Still, even that movie is far better than "Abraham Lincoln is a Vampire Hunter." Total:
Tracing the filmography of Alexander Demyanenka, I came across Dima Gorin’s Career. To say that the film struck my imagination is to say nothing. That’s just struck with a sign of “plus” or “minus”, I was able to determine when the emotions subsided after watching.
And so, a young successful employee of financial growth, Dmitry Gorin rises steeply up the career ladder, simultaneously lives in his closed world, collecting stamps and making the image of his ideal woman. On the eve of another promotion, he makes mistakes. To fix her, Dima is forced to go to a distant Siberian construction site, where he meets the girl of his dreams. Gorin decides to get a job in a brigade of workers in order to win the heart of his beloved.
The motivation of the protagonist is clear, but on the other hand, between the lines, the foundations of the Soviet ideology of that time are clearly read: the advantage of physical labor over intellectual labor, collective above individualism.
Then - all the hardships of life in harsh Siberia, trials of the collective way of life, complex relationships with colleagues, and now the main character "reeducates", becomes a full member of society. Although, if you look deeper - Dima Gorin, breaking out of her "case" of eternal guardianship, becomes a person independent and courageous, overcoming all difficulties on his way.
Among the hard everyday life of workers there are bright holidays, the New Year, for example, is very emotionally reflected in this picture; there is also clear agitation about labor competitions, the execution of the plan before the line, about joining the Komsomol, which in the context of our time is perceived more quickly negatively and with obvious irony.
But again, the choice of the main character Gali Berezkina in favor of the intellectual Gorin, neglecting the courtship of workers, real men for every taste, raises its questions.
The director’s group, maneuvering between the ideology of advice and a good romantic story, managed to create a very good film, with magnificent lyrical endings and a double bottom. If you take the picture in a figurative sense, it looks quite good. And, of course, pleases Alexander Demyanenko in the lead role, proving that he is perfectly successful not only in comic roles.
