Savan wrapper “Lermontov” is a very protracted, sad, superficial and ugly gloomy film with a heavy plot. Permeated through war, death, betrayal and alienation. The death of society, the death of poets. First Pushkin, then Lermontov. A smoldering sense of decay. The negative aspects of life and the negative perception of the upper world are shown, up to complete contempt for it. Not to mention the fact that the dull colors themselves increase the general tragedy, hopelessness. Boredom. Life is like death. Like a sentence.
Lermontov himself is a gloomy wanderer here. And he was not a boring man, always muttering. The voice of the hero is ugly, sometimes thoroughly cuts the hearing voice. Reading poems with a tear, some hopelessness. His poems glorify his country! Let me think and think.
Lermontov was a capable man, not the gloomy shadow that appears in this film. He seems very frivolous here, in spite of thoughtfulness, although the man was intellectual, not only a reader of poems, an author of works, but also an actor.
It started tragically and ended the same way. Nothing new or interesting. There is only unpleasant sediment after viewing. It is better to read than to face such an embodiment of the life of a Russian writer.
