The ship "Impenetrable" punches the bottle on its first release into the water. It's comical. "Impenetrable" is pierced with a regular bottle.
After that, the shipbuilding magnate Forschom (Louis de Funes) in a rage drives out the designer Constanier, who created this ship.
Then, in a fit of rage, the state of effect begins to crash another yacht designed by the same Constanier "Little Swimmer". The boat is broken by him. He is guilty of his intemperance, lack of willpower in the ability to control his aggressive impulses. But it's all done.
Then Forshom learns that the yacht “Little swimmer” took the prize place. And to own this yacht is now prestigious, and Constanier, whom he put out the door some time ago, is now vital to his own prestige.
What must Forshom now do to gain Constanier's favor? A visit to a church he had never attended before: he was seen there for the first time. The church is old, everything is broken, everything needs repair. The priest, who is also Constanier's brother, cannot serve for these reasons.
Driving on the floor after the horse, climbing to the very top of a high lighthouse, what else will a man have to do, about whom, as one of the Roman emperors, it was said: “There was no better slave and no worse sovereign in the world.” When in a person, in this case, Constanier was necessary, useful, need, self-interest, he becomes soft, compliant, but it is insincere, false, fake. Because when Constanier was subordinate to Forshom, he learned the downside of this acquiescence, in the form of cruel, heartless dismissal for his own miscalculations, mistakes, blunders, guilt, intemperance.
Forshom’s rival, Monsieur Italian, is similar in character, as someone said about him. He is helpful, charming, but cunning and selfish, doing everything for the sake of his own pragmatism and nothing more.
We can say that here the problem of veneration, posed, for example, in the story of A. Chekhov “Thick and thin”, is condemned.
And Constanier himself resembles the Leskov Left-handed in character. He is endowed with the gift of a master, he has “golden hands”, but he is spineless, weak-willed. I can’t stand up for the powerful self that deserves it.
This speaks of the eternal problems of man, regardless of time, era, country, place of action. The problems are the same.
The film teaches treating a person humanely, with kindness, humanely in all situations, in any scenario of life events. Be able to admit your mistakes, your wrongness. Protect the property, in this case the yacht "Little swimmer".
However, the film looks very easy. Louis de Funes is very dynamic, bright, eccentric, transferring it all to this picture. He masters the technique, despite the fact that, according to the plot, he can not drive a tractor when, the man who was crushed by the leg, was confined to bed at the moment, trying to explain what to do with the tractor.
A long trip on a tractor, hovering on a barrier, testing a unique invention of the same ingenious Constanier on the water, as a result of a partial “breakdown” of which a brood of geese went behind the mountain-tester - all this looks very funny and fascinating.
In addition, there are many water adventures that are tied with a certain cyclicality. They are also great and dynamic.
The family of Constanier is also admired: they work in different fields: designer, priest, but everyone has a sense of family collectivism, which causes respect.
And in this comedy you can feel the peace of those distant sixties, with peaceful life, work, and timeless problems.
