I like the cartoon Mulan, and I think it raises a lot of themes, but the main point is that courage, courage, intelligence and respect are the virtues of either gender. How is Mulan worse than him? In essence, Mulan asks the fundamental question of the cartoon, “What has changed and why does everyone treat Mulan and Ping differently, even though Mulan and Ping are the same person?” Mulan, as though initially not successful either in the traditional role of a woman or in the role of a man, with the help of her tenacity and led by the help of her loved ones and the country, becomes a symbol of imitation for both and for the salvation of China.
The spirit that was sent to help her, the dragon Mu-shu, can be seen as a hidden resource Mulan, which works in particularly extreme situations. Also, the film was released in the year of the dragon, and the Chinese capital celebrates the new year of the dragon, which as if tells us that in Mulan deep inside hidden dragon power.
I also like in the cartoon about Mulan several beautiful metaphorical sayings ("one grain of rice tips the scales. a flower blooming in bad weather - this is a rare jewel. no matter how the wind rages, the mountain will not bow before him"). All this adds to the atmosphere of China and the depth of history.
I also like that Shang-Yu, while portrayed as a real villain, is a clever villain who makes difficult-to-predict decisions. Not only do you feel dislike for him, but also fear and curiosity.
The plot of the cartoon was created by a man who knew firsthand about growing up and becoming girls, because he had 7 daughters. Perhaps that is why he managed to create such a solid and attractive character, namely Disney Princess Mulan, who is still an inspiration for girls around the world.

Mulan is another good picture of the studio, shot according to all the canons of it. This is both a plus and a minus of this cartoon: there is the main character of the "princess", her little assistants, designed to make a comedic element and shade the dignity of the main character (what is called side kick character or just sidekick), the love interest of the main character, the wise ruler, whom the heroine is afraid to anger, the character-obstacle well and of course the villain.
In the course of time, the heroine of a clumsy, lively, joyful girl passes various tests, turning into a brave, honest, able to defend her ideals girl.
According to these patterns, Disney has been shooting for several decades - and this is not that bad! It is known that from a standard set of elements, a good director / studio / author can create both an average picture and a masterpiece.
In this sense, Mulan is somewhere in the middle. And here's the funny thing: I watched this cartoon as a child, for me it would probably become one of my favorite works. But now I think he's kind of ordinary? Despite the fact that I always try to watch various pictures from my childhood without adult nihilism and all sorts of faults, I sometimes just squandered this cartoon - especially musical numbers and scenes with the dragon Mushu and the cricket. The songs seemed inappropriate to me (or rather simply superfluous), and Mushu, who taunted with an African-American accent, was irritating as if he were a foreign element. I’m by no means a racist or a nationalist, but I always had the feeling that Eddie Murphy, who voiced Musha here as a black rapper in a conventional historical film about ancient China.
The rest of the movie is beautiful. Animation, special effects, panoramic scenes and even the use of computer three-dimensional graphics - everything is done very beautifully and at the highest level.
Fa Mulan is empathetic, every time at some risky step you hold your fingers on her, and of course you get sincere pleasure from a healthy, intelligent, active female heroine.
Bottom line: in any case, I advise you to get acquainted with this Disney classic of the 90s, along with Pocahontas, the Lion King and other legends of the studio. It is a pleasure to spend the evening, perhaps with your child, to be inspired and comment on some historical and everyday moments will be a great pleasure.
Today I will tell you about my favorite cartoon - Mulan.
The story tells us about the girl Mulan. China is attacked by a militant tribe of Huns, the girl’s father cannot fight, so she dresses as a man and goes to the army in his place. Accompanying Mulan on her travels will be the little dragon Mushu, will our heroes be able to save the country and stop the cruel Huns?
In this cartoon everything is perfect: plot, drawing, music. He literally has no weaknesses, so let me list what I like about him.
It is cool that the creators of the cartoon decided to show the strength of the girl, she, although weaker than men, still goes to protect her country, her home, even though it was very difficult for her, she passes all the tests steadfastly. And here we are not talking about feminism, which at the last minute stick in every cartoon, here we are talking about a strong personality. I liked the message very much, I was always sick and supported Mulan, worried about her and Musha.
As for the drawing, it is in the spirit of classic Disney cartoons, yes, the same ones that we watched as children. I like the classic angular drawing, because in modern cartoons there is a languish for realism, which does not particularly suit me.
The musical accompaniment is very melodic, orchestral instruments are used, where fights are shown, the music becomes dynamic, and where just moments with travel are shown, it is calm and melodic. Perfectly complements the picture and contributes to the immersion of the viewer in the plot.
Separately, I will highlight the main antagonist, the leader of the Huns Shan-Yu, he is also made very qualitatively, recalls Tugarin from Alesha Popovich and Tugarin Snake. He looks as frightening as a villain. Even in the cartoon shows a love line, but you will learn about it by watching the cartoon. I will say from myself that it is also very qualitatively made, it develops from the very beginning of the movie to the final part and the logical outcome.
I advise everyone to watch this movie (there are those who have not seen it yet). For me, there are no weaknesses in him, and he deserves the highest praise.

Hua Mulan (or simply Mulan) is probably the first Disney girl who wasn’t royal by the end of the piece. But even without that, she is one of my favorite heroines in history.
A brave heroine who poses as a male soldier fighting for the Chinese Imperial Army to protect her ailing father, who would have had to leave if she hadn't gone in his place. Mulan pretends to be her father’s son, Ping (in fact, she called herself by her real name if the poem itself is to be believed), risking her life and ready to die as if on the battlefield for her homeland and China’s ruling dynasty.
I will immediately say that the character Mulan is based on the heroine of the famous Chinese poem “Tales of Hua Mulan”. Even though the Chinese don’t like it. I believe that it was this film that inspired the creators of Jackie Chan’s Adventures to add a girl to the characters. Namely, Jade Chan or the notorious Azoula and Qatar (however, the authors admitted that they themselves revised Mulan when they invented their heroes). Well, and the work of the Great Master Miyazaki “Nausikaya of the Valley of the Winds”. The latter could be the basis for the Disney project.
Of course, the film has a lot of shoals, considering the fact that the Chinese themselves made many films about Mulan. I got to know them, too. And yet, I loved the story of a brave girl who in many ways surpasses the Little Mermaid, Meg, Belle and others. She goes to war and becomes a hero. It is for the Chinese people the same as for us Nadezhda Durova and for the French Jeanne Dark. Although many women fought in different wars. The First and Second World Wars.
And yet, I want to thank Disney for trying to convey the history and culture of ancient China. Although there were many mistakes, Mulan is one of the studio’s best works.
I saw this story for the first time, although I knew about the existence of the cartoon, but never reached the hand to see it. Well, when I get to it, I can say that it is worth watching. This is a very inspiring and pleasant tape, which I will talk about in more detail.
The action takes place in China, which is experiencing wartime. And in connection with this, there is a call to the service to which the father of our heroine named Mulan is called. However, seeing that her father is old for such an occupation, she changed into a uniform decides to carry out the service in his place. The danger is added by the fact that service is unacceptable for women, so she needs to be very careful.
Already the bundle itself is quite interesting and curious. And at the same time, it makes us feel very empathetic and supportive of Mulan. But in addition to the heroine herself, we also meet a funny dragon who helps her and dilutes the seriousness of the tape. Among the soldiers we meet quite charismatic men who are fascinating in contrast to the harsh reality.
In addition to the plot and characters, I loved the picture and production of the cartoon. The work is rich in large-scale scenes of training or fights, which in its scope, if inferior to films, is not much. Also, with the help of colors, the creators managed to convey all the beauty and greatness of China, which is certainly another plus. And finally, after watching you feel a kind of enthusiasm and uplifting mood.
Over. This is a very high quality story that is suitable for all ages. I would especially recommend it to people who are not sure about themselves or doubt something. And of course, the work is suitable in order to have a good time with your family or yourself.

In the 1990s, as Disney's influence grew, it became necessary to create an animated film whose plot and characters already transcended Western civilization. The Arabic Aladdin has already come out, it is China's turn. And since the American ideas about Chinese culture remained (and still remain) very far from reality, Disney Mulan looks appropriate.
Every scene reminds us that we have Disney. This is manifested both in the types of characters, and in their emotions and even appearance. Surprisingly, while trying to depict Mongolian facial features in people, artists still left many recognizable features of other Disney characters. In this version, Mulan is a typical Disney princess, from which emotions beat the fountain. Have you ever noticed that the lion’s share of cartoon princesses is necessarily extroverted? A strange decision, to be honest... The image of trouble does not fit so well into the story of the war, in which peaceful peasants are forced to take part. It is funny that many years later, the second part of Kung Fu Panda will suffer from excessive gloom, while the military story of Mulan, on the contrary, looks too naive.
And of course, since the producer is Disney, where without a minor minor character who accompanies the main characters? Many people like Dragon Mushu because of its absurdity, although if you look at it, this quality makes it “inappropriate” in such a story. Even apart from Mulan, the image of Mushu looks too Western, although the character is an oriental dragon. This is the interweaving of opposites. Not limited to their cliché, the Disney team added to the cartoon a few awkward scenes, which can be safely called intimate. In male society, Mulan is unwittingly faced with the fact that her gender can be discovered, because ... all people from time to time change their clothes or, say, bathe. And the problem is that the cartoon is kind of focused on a family audience. What awkward feelings should be experienced by children and parents during a joint viewing – one can only guess.
In conclusion, I want to reproach the creators that the cartoon does not feel a strong condemnation of the war and the events that inevitably accompany it. Those who declare the need to take up arms are shown caricatured, and all negative characters look like zombies from the realm of the night, although we, in theory, do not even have fantasy.
Not a bad, but not a good version of Mulan’s story.

In June 1998, the 36th Disney animated film, Mulan, was released. This is a special cartoon for me. The fact is that it was from this cartoon back in 2003 that my acquaintance with the world of Disney began! And even to this day, I believe that "Mulan" is not just a good cartoon of the era "Disney Renaissance", it is a real Disney masterpiece, which even after 20 years (!) looks as easy and relaxed.
Animation. As usual, the Disneys are great. Although it is noticeable that the animation is not as detailed as in “The Lion King” or “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, but it is still beautiful. All the buildings, landscapes, trees, people, perfumes are perfectly painted in gentle colors that please the eyes. I can’t help but mention all the scenes with the Huns and the battles with them, which are really exciting. Especially, I am still excited by that scene in the mountains, when a huge army of Huns appears and descends from the mountains. It's been 20 years, and it's still got goosebumps. Amazingly, neither the 2009 Chinese film nor the squalid remake of 2020, with their larger budgets, even close to any similar scene.
Music. Here, too, everything is masterpiece, because the soundtrack “Mulan” is one of the best Disney soundtracks. All the songs (like the creepy one under which Shan-Yu appears) and all the songs here are beautiful. "Honor to Us All." Mulan's sad and tragic song, "Reflection," which I used to shed tears to as a kid. However, the musical gold of this cartoon is the song of Captain Shang - "I'll Make a Man Out of You". It's so cool and so full of testosterone. It seems to me that if this song was played in military enlistment offices, then there would be no problems with appeals at all.
Characters. What I really like is that in Mulan, like in Lion King, there are no superfluous characters at all. Here, each hero is registered and has a role.
Mulan is the eighth and first Asian Disney princess. Although I don't understand why she's considered a princess if she's not a princess and doesn't plan on becoming one. Elsa and Anna of Frozen and Kida of Atlantis are princesses, but they are not part of the Disney pantheon. Mulan isn't a princess and comes in! Oh, come on. Mulan is a beautiful, brave, kind, agile, intelligent girl who wants not to get married as soon as possible, but to find herself in this world and save her father from death in the army.
In general, this is a feature of all Disney princesses of the Renaissance. If the princesses of the old generation wanted only to find a prince, then the new princesses (Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas) want to find sincere love and they, more courageous in communicating with men. However, Mulan is the most feminized Disney heroine. But this is not bad, on the contrary, in contrast to modern film feminists like the same Mulan from the remake or Ray from the new Star Wars trilogy, which are ideal from birth against the background of dumb men, Mulan is the brightest embodiment of the “strong girl”, who was initially weak and insecure, but under the influence of hard training she is tempered and her fighting skills look organically next to her male friends.
Mushu - in the original it is voiced by Eddie Murphy, but I responsibly declare that the Russian voice acting of Valery Kukhareshina suits him much better. Mushu is a good comedian hero who defuses the situation well with his clumsy actions, like when he spoke from the head of a dragon or tried to fry a dumpling.
All the other characters are good too. Captain Shang, the merry trio of Yao-Ling-Chyen-Po, which you all distinguish.
Separately, I would like to mention the main villain, the leader of the Huns Shan-Yu. So officially declare that Shan-Yu is the best Disney villain in their history! Yes, Disney gave us a lot of great villains and usually when it comes to the best, everyone remembers Scar, Jafar, Malificent, etc. But, all these villains are too charismatic and you involuntarily empathize with them, not the main characters. This is wrong! The villain should want to kill, not empathize with him. There are very few Disney villains you fear and want to kill. I can only remember Mahechu Cinderella, Radcliffe from Pocahontas, The Horned King from the Black Cauldron and Shan-Yu. The last one is the worst.
Shan-Yu laconic (all his lines for the cartoon can be placed on the sheet A4), he has no villainous song, no background, no mercy, he does not explain his motives. He is just a cruel, ferocious nomad, ready to kill even children. But this minimalism is what scares him. Yes, he only wants to take over China, but his goal is simple and clear, and it is unlikely that he was going to bring democracy to China. So once again, Shan-Yu is the best Disney villain they've ever created, and I'm sorry no one remembers him.
Plot. It always made me laugh that Mulan is an ancient Chinese folk heroine whose legend dates back to the sixth century and her Chinese children are taught in schools. However, the whole world learned about it only after the children's cartoon. It is not surprising that at one time the Chinese were jealous of the cartoon and even made their version in 2009 with the participation of Vitas (mediocre).
And the cartoon itself is good because it is perfectly balanced as a comedy, action and drama. When necessary, the cartoon is fun (the camp drill scenes and all the scenes with Mushu). When necessary, there are amazing fights and battles in the cartoon, especially in the palace or during an avalanche. And in some moments, the cartoon even causes genuine horror, mainly in scenes with the Huns. I already talked about their battle in the mountains, but the scene with a burning village and a baby doll is especially terrifying. The horror of this scene is in short words. The heroes just look at the ashes of the village and find a helmet and a doll and you all understand what happened and why the doll is ownerless.
Conclusion. Although I respect all Disney cartoons, however, my five eternal Disney masterpieces are: The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame. This film is just an eternal masterpiece. The cartoon is fun, dramatic, imbued with Asian color and action. It can be watched forever and let's pretend there never was a wretched remake.

“Mulan” or a good message in the hearts of everyone
In the modern world, it seems to me more and more difficult to understand, did the authors of the tape really want to show a strong character or was all this power caused to please any category of citizens? As a rule, the second option prevails, but thereby increasingly attract the interest of the tape, which came out decades ago, where there was no “race” to please a certain cohort of moviegoers. Unfortunately, in connection with modern trends, even tapes that probably do not set their goal to please someone are perceived, precisely, as tapes that purposefully extol someone. Why is that? Because the viewer is tired of the fact that in the tapes the main character, the king and God, and everyone else is on the pickup. With this approach, cinema ceases to be an art, and its purpose is to assimilate a certain group of people. When watching “Mulan” you can falsely think that this cartoon comes on the same rake, although it was shot so long ago.
After all, in the foreground is a girl who at certain moments, suspiciously much can. But, no, the authors of the tape managed to show a really strong spirit and at the same time a light character, without clearly belittling the other main characters. The other thing is that they are written worse overall. The writers’ explicit emphasis on adding mysticism and Chinese mythology to the plot is logical, since focusing on one invasion of the Huns and actually using mostly military characters seems a weak idea. However, the faintness of the characters is visible with the unarmed eye. “Spirits of ancestors” are in principle unnecessary characters in the tape, since they actually affect the plot only once and removing them, you can easily beat everything. The dragon Mushu is the expected character, “unloading” for the brain, but on a more detailed examination it becomes clear that in fact the character is nothing, there is no disclosure of the character, I did not see plot twists with him. Of course, this is a funny and somewhere charismatic character, but it seems to me far from revealed. I liked the platoon commander as a character – a confident, dedicated officer. The only thing I would like more “active” scenes with his participation in order to better feel the code of honor and its fundamental principles.
Mulan herself was worthy as a character. This is a kind, strong and at the same time doubtful person, at first completely insecure, who wants to first prove to herself that she can do something, can leave a mark on herself. This message that sometimes you need to take risks and stop wasting your life on those things on which to spend them pointlessly clearly captured and for this cartoon is a huge plus. Of course, in some moments it was made very strong, which spoils the impression, but in general, the script does not often go into this “fiction”. The cartoon “Mulan” is a cartoon about love for your parents, for your family, about overcoming on life’s “barriers” and about good, in which there are no annoying modern trends, just to please someone. A great movie with good messages.
A flower that blooms in bad weather is a rare jewel. . .
On September 1, 1999, in honor of my first day at school, my parents gave me a Mulan tape. And since then, it's been in the gold pool of my childhood classics, and it's also one of my favorite Disney cartoons, and I think Mulan is one of the best animations ever. We'll find out why.
Mulan is the most common Chinese girl to be extradited, but with whom there are always some incidents that cause the wrath of matchmakers and parents. However, when the invasion of the militant nomads of the Huns under the leadership of the ruthless Shang Yu begins in China, an order comes from the capital - each family is obliged to send one man to war. To save his elderly and sick father from conscription and death, Mulan steals his armor and, disguised as a man, goes to fight. With the help of a funny guardian dragon Mushu and a reasonable cricket Kri-Ki, bringing luck, as well as after difficult training, Mulan and her comrades in arms will face a battle with the Huns that will change the history of China forever.
The plot is based on a Chinese poem about a woman who joined the army. It is still unknown whether the heroine had a real prototype or is he still legendary? Disney creates an animated version of the legend, telling it in a style understandable to everyone - both children and adults. Mulan is a great example of the classic Disney Renaissance cartoon (which includes Beauty and the Beast, Alladdin, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and the Lion King). First of all, I want to note the amazing animation that takes us to China with its incredible architecture, flowering trees, centuries-old traditions, costumes and armor - in general, immerse us in the atmosphere of the film with our heads.
The plot also develops according to animated canons, so some fantastic elements like ancestral spirits, living dragons and intelligent crickets are added to it, which makes the story more fascinating and fun. Humor is generally a separate topic - I remember as a child I memorized the dialogues of the characters and entertained seven retellings. I especially loved scenes in the temple of the ancestors with a real dragon, the first appearance in the camp - chest wheel, legs apart and went!
Musical accompaniment - in the best traditions of Disney - fascinates instantly and is never forgotten. Although there are not so many songs here, but they are so beautiful as the scenes accompanying them: All of us are now waiting for honor - preparing girls for the lookouts, including hairstyle, outfits, makeup, Only here you will become a man - training in the camp, which has probably become my favorite song in the film, and a nice hiking Better to dream about your girlfriend
The main character is a young girl Mulan, who lived an ordinary life, tried to please the matchmaker and increase the honor of the family. But that all changes on agenda day, when Mulan cuts off long hair, changes into men's clothes and goes to war. This path was not easy - she has to endure the ridicule of other warriors, earn their respect and friendship, undergo a difficult course of training and face a dangerous enemy that many times outnumbers them. Throughout the film, Mulan manages to earn our admiration and honor for her resilience, courage and the fact that she never gives up.
Her unusual companions - hilarious dragon Mushu and cricket Cri-Ki - and help Mulan in difficult military affairs, and add the bulk of humor to the cartoon. Mushu, a degraded keeper, now hits the gong, awakening his ancestors in the temple, decides to help Mulan succeed in order to return to the temple as a hero. Talky, sarcastic and very charming Mushu quickly becomes one of the favorite characters of the cartoon! Cricket is also not easy - for some reason it is considered to bring good luck, which also adds a lot of fun.
To be honest, each character turned out to be so memorable that it deserves a separate mention: the Mulan family is a kind but strict father Fa Zu, a loving and caring mother Fa Li, a humorous and enterprising grandmother Fa Senha; captain Li Shang - a young commander who was entrusted with training recruits and who wants to prove that he is worthy of this title for his merits, and not for his kinship in the general; the hilarious trinity of warriors Chang/b>
There are such films/animated films/series that I can recommend to everyone without hesitation, without doubting that they will be delighted with watching. Mulan is one of those cartoons. Even after 20 years from the first viewing, I find it still as interesting, fascinating, funny and incredibly beautiful.

Mulan became my childhood hero, on which I would like to be equal and on this day!
Favorite childhood cartoon that finally showed that a girl can be a warrior. How brave and courageous!
Mulan, not like everyone else. She and her parents have a problem with understanding, they dream of marrying her, and she only spends time at home with pets. But her life turns 180 degrees. The messengers who arrived in her village report that their country was attacked by a cruel and merciless army of Huns.
Gathered together with Mulan's forces, he decides to pretend to be a man and go to the front. A good reason prompted her to embark on a dangerous journey, but help arrived just in time. The spirits of the family sent to protect Mulan her guardian of the ancient and “bloodthirsty” Mush.
Not much time Mulan wins for himself to master male habits and habits. The hopelessness of the situation can be traced in the first minutes of its appearance in male society. It is very funny to watch her try to join the group.
And tests of strength and perseverance in the army make the viewer watch with trepidation her victories and losses. But the war is not far off and the troops are coming towards the Huns.
The ending amazed me, Mulan became my childhood hero, which I would like to look up to today! The way she blossomed before her eyes, how she grew up and became a fighter can be watched countless times. Meaningful songs were deposited in the child’s head for many years, which to this day can be hummed. The cartoon looks in one breath, Mulan will always be my inspiration and reason to believe in myself!

- A flower that blooms in bad weather is a rare jewel.
- Em... Excuse me?
- These girls are not born every century!
Another Disney cartoon in the Top 250. This time of the later period, which I refer to as the "golden period." Namely, the period of time from the mid-80s to the late 90s. During this time, Disney Studio released all its major hits, ranging from “The Little Mermaid” to “Tarzan”. And Mulan is one of them.
There is a large Hun tribe in China. To protect his sick father from conscription to war, a young girl Mulan steals his armor, and posing as a man enters the service. The spirits of the ancestors send a little dragon Mush after her.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen it, but every time I see it, I notice something new. I don’t really like Asian themes, but Disney has so cleverly adapted everything to its style that it’s a pleasure to watch. And most importantly, it is not boring to review.
The plot is quite new. At least I've never seen anything like this before. Bright, colorful drawing, which many consider the best. Humor. There is a lot of it and it is always in place. It may not make anyone laugh, but it will make you smile. Not typical heroes. I still wonder how each time the studio has enough imagination to create characters that are not similar to each other. Each time new heroes, with their own character and history. Well, of course, a separate respect for the soundtrack. Many of the songs have already become favorites.
“As if the wind did not glow, the mountain did not fall before it.”
Disney producers, in search of a suitable plot for a new family animated film, stumbled upon one of the legends of ancient China. The story is about a beautiful Chinese girl, Mulan, who joined the ranks of the Chinese army, changing into a male warrior, thereby taking a big step into the future in terms of understanding the role of women in society. This tale walks in songs, fairy tales, paintings, ballads, productions, and now in films. It became an integral element of Chinese culture, no less significant than the legends of Wong Fei Hung, the invincible Chinese warrior.
By the way, stories about a girl who honorably performs a truly male job are found in almost all national fairy tales, without them it is impossible to do with female self-consciousness. The fairy tale of Mulan is a beautiful story, a beautiful plot for Disney - a studio that can not be imagined without sadly funny, romantic, musical tales about love and friendship with a couple of touching and appeased and several mad heroes.
The cartoon Mulan is a beautiful, light and poetic spectacle, in which there are no surprises, but very accurately maintains the balance between the musical, comedy and epic legend. And this cocktail manages to remain absolutely traditional Disney products, without any deviations or excesses. It is, of course, good that the viewer knows exactly what he is watching, and parents can safely put their children for watching, even without watching it yourself. But the picture itself suffers from this, since absolutely everything is foreseen at once, from the words of the characters to their actions.
The film can be respected for the scale of the work done, it was shot for five years, seven hundred animators worked on the filigree drawing of each hero. The corresponding atmosphere was created by more than thirty editors and screenwriters who managed to turn an old Chinese legend into a Disney hit with jokes, songs and other attributes. Collected all this together two directors who sifted out all the ambiguous, superfluous and wrong. Yes, the work has been enormous. And as a result, a sense of airy stupidity, lightness and luxury was obtained. Ancient China looks exactly as it should. But despite all this, it turned out to be a typical Hollywood Disney movie.
All the characters are typical Hollywood, like Mulan herself and everyone else. The set of main characters turned out to be quite traditional - a cute couple, a wise father, and at the same time a bunch of freaks. Well, invariably present in any cartoon is a stupid and selfish loser who will definitely become a hero. The image of the villain was not thought of for a long time either. Big, ugly, with one goal in mind: destruction. Common for Disney stamps, for example, sharply reduced to five people multimillion Chinese army.
Despite all of the above, the film is impressive. Not only the huge work of talented artists who managed to create a beautiful and charming world. Goldsmith’s perfect and amazingly lyrical music includes several heartfelt and heartbreaking songs. She deserves a place on the shelf of any music lover. Many stars recorded their versions of songs from Mulan. Listening to these songs, by the way, does not make sense in Russian translation.
It is safe to say that this film adaptation of the ancient legend is worthy of the source. Let the Chinese speak rather harshly, criticizing Americanisms and blunders that are not characteristic of Chinese traditions, but do not forget that this is just a good family tale, which mistakes are forgiven.

- One grain of rice tips the scales. One person can be the key to victory or defeat.
Since childhood, like many, I have been a big fan of Disney Studios, and I try not to miss a single full meter. In both animation and film. But strangely enough, this cartoon at one time passed me by. It's time to catch up.
China is attacked by a tribe of Huns, and the emperor issues a decree of general mobilization. Each family must have one warrior. The girl Mulan, to protect her sick father, secretly dresses his armor and posing as a man, goes to war. The spirits of ancestors send her to help the little dragon Musha.
This is the 36th animated film among all released by the studio. As usual, everything turned out at the highest level. I may be a bit biased on this, but I think the best Disney cartoons came from this period. That's the late '80s and '90s. With enviable frequency, the studio released hits, many of which became Oscar-winning.
As for this particular cartoon. I'm not a big fan of Asian history and culture, so at first I looked warily toward Mulan. But all doubts dispelled, just to start watching. Disney in their style adapted the story for old and young, and from the screen was not to break away. Of course, the signature recognizable drawing, humor, but just a great story.
It is recommended to watch.
Overrated cartoons. Part 1. Tough rules of history.
Perhaps the first review should start with more modern “masterpieces”, but there is something to say about this cartoon.
I am a fan of Far Eastern culture. But cartoons on this topic are not so much. Therefore, the atmosphere of historical fantasy in China of the 7th century AD adds a plus to lovers of oriental culture. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the original poem about Hua Mulan, so I will not compare it with the original source. But I suspect that Disney, as usual, left only the names and titles of some characters.
Nevertheless, the main character was successful, because of all the Disney main characters she is one of the most cute as a person. Brave, intelligent, responsible, careful, practically helps her family and her country, well disguised and prepared for the campaign, trained hard. And even ingeniously defeated an entire army. I also liked the cute cricket and the song "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" because it is the only one in the cartoon that is well remembered and can be listened to with pleasure.
But now the downsides. Start with China’s tough 7th-century policies. It turns out that in a difficult time, when enemies are approaching, and there are not enough military hands to recruit any suitable candidates for the army, women should never join the army. Otherwise they'll be executed. This is very reminiscent of medieval Europe, where a woman was just an appendage and had no special rights. There is much in common between East and West. For the same reason, a young military commander, Lee Shang, who had previously seemed quite intelligent and serious leader, suddenly decided to kill his partner (after he had done a heroic feat!), when he learned that she was a woman. What kind of "noble" action for the Asian military, don't you feel? But in the end, he “compassed”, and left the heroine (wounded) to die in the mountains.
The main “fantasy” hint in the cartoon was the little dragon Mushu, acting as the “talking comedian”. I was the only one who thought that by his habits and appearance, he resembled Yuri’s horse from our “Richmen”?
The only annoying character for me was the main character's horse. Quite aggressive, hot-tempered, grumpy, considers himself the “center of the world”, constantly tramples and kicks Musha (who is also not a gift). I really wanted to use the sausage. It's good to keep quiet.
The main antagonist is hardly remembered. I didn't even remember his name. But he still causes fear and awe, is a worthy rival and in general is not a template.
Conclusion. I don’t think this movie is a masterpiece, but it’s not really bad either. Cartoon for amateur and fans of Eastern culture. I will not rate high or low due to ambiguity.
No matter how the wind rages, the mountain will not bow before it.
- One grain of rice tips the scales. One person can be the key to victory or defeat.
I have never missed a Disney project since I was a kid. In my opinion, the studio’s best cartoons were released in the 80s and 90s. And Mulan is no exception.
To save her sick father from being called to war with the Huns, the young girl Mulan secretly dresses his armor, takes up arms and posing as a young man goes to fight instead of his father. Ancient family spirits send little dragon Musha to help Mulan.
I’ve known this movie for a long time, and I’ve seen it all several times, so now I’ve discovered it again. And he was absolutely delighted. Despite the fact that I do not like Asian themes, the cartoon came to me perfectly.
In fact, everything that can be said about Mulan can fit into a few sentences. Great classic Disney animation from the 90s, which many still consider the best. Fascinating story. Interesting, not like anyone characters. And of course music. Incredible songs, beauty and epic not inferior to Aladdin, the Lion King and the Little Mermaid. What is remarkable is that in Russian dubbing the songs sound better. So a separate respect for localizers and dubbing actors who worked on voice acting.
My main complaint is not to make cartoons about the war or about military themes in this way, with jokes, distorting the history, showing everything in one color. The only cartoon about the military theme does not cause claims "Grave of fireflies", but on the other hand it is not for children, like Mulan.
The Huns look like demons and pure evil, with fangs and black eyes. Let’s not forget that they were people like us. This is not some pure evil, but people. And to show them this is not correct, it gives a false perception of reality.
The movie is for kids and they will love it. But do children understand what war is and that one man cannot defeat an army? That there's a 99.9 percent chance this girl would have been killed. And if not, it means that such a reckless step would kill the remaining 99.9% of girls who would take such a step.
The cartoon gives false ideas about battles, battles and the influence of one person, especially unprepared. I don't see anything good in that. You can skip this movie without losing anything. It is also likely that the cartoon was made to improve relations with China, after the unsuccessful film Kundong, funded by Disney (wiki). Therefore, the value of this work is greatly exaggerated.
Mulan is probably the bravest and bravest Disney girl, moreover, she is very exotic, which gives her a special charm.
I saw this movie for the first time as a child. I didn't have it on the tape, but I still remember it. In general, for me to review old cartoons is a complete pleasure, and for you?
I think there is a lot more humor in this cartoon than in other Disney cartoons, just one thing: “Who are you?”
- The dragon in the coat!????????????????
But do not forget that Mulan committed a truly heroic act, which not every man dares. She went to war for her father’s place, but not alone, but with a kind of spirit – Mushu, who is the funniest character in this picture.
The movie is wonderful in every sense, and I would show it to my child as an example of heroism and valor. .
I remember when I was a kid watching this movie. I thought there was some nonsense about Chinese girls. It's really just a wow.
Animation, songs, music, characters, everything is fine. All, absolutely all songs cause delight and goosebumps. The matchmaker's song, the music when Mulan leaves home, you're a fighter. I still remember them. Although the text is slightly distorted in the translation, it still causes delight.
I have noticed that Mulan is often referred to by radical feminists as a cartoon about a real woman. Personally, I didn't notice anything like that. This is China, what a woman here needs to be, except meek and silent. And Mulan is an adventurer. After all, even in Russian fairy tales, the princess dressed as a man to save her prince.

A few years ago, it dawned on me that I had never seen a princess cartoon. Not that it was something strange and unusual, but not just the world’s most famous animation studio so often gave the main role to them. After that, I decided to watch several Disney cartoons, which included “The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “The Princess and the Frog” and “Mulan”. The latter made the list purely because its sequel was one of the first DVD purchases in my family, but I still haven’t seen Mulan 2. Memories of the first part remained vague, in general, I was not very satisfied and put it 6 out of 10 on the KinoPoisk.
But recently I was on a children's birthday, where, as usual on such holidays and happens, stayed in the company of children, although age already allows you to sit with adults. The Disney channel was turned on in the room, and when I helped the birthday girl open her present - a LEGO set on "Frozen" (yes, I was a little jealous of her) - the TV suddenly announced that it would now be showing "Mulan". Although the TV there could not boast of a great picture, plus I am completely accustomed to watching a movie with advertising, but still decided not to lose the chance to review the film. I have no regrets.
At the first viewing, I did not like Mulan herself very much, I found her too arrogant and not very interesting. I don’t know what I thought, because she’s definitely the best female character I’ve ever seen in a two-dimensional Disney movie. Mulan is purposeful, courageous and not stupid - definitely a role model. Sometimes she behaves very awkwardly, but this only makes her image more vivid and understandable, it is easy for her to empathize.
Perhaps, the culture of China of that time is shown here exaggeratedly, but it fulfills its role, which is why the actions of the main character do not cause unnecessary questions. When she cuts her hair and joins the army, pretending to be a guy to protect her sick father from military service, there is no doubt that she could have done otherwise. And the beautiful music of Jerry Goldsmith that accompanies this moment only strengthens the moment.
The film has a very good sense of humor. Alas, in the original did not watch, and therefore I will not say how good / bad Eddie Murphy as the dragon Shifu and whether all his puns are conveyed properly. But even comparing what were the words in the lyrics of the songs in dubbing and in the original when listening to the songs separately, I did not find any obvious joints. The songs themselves are few, but each works exactly to the goal, and I’ll Make a Man Out of You is completely perfect.
But sometimes the film is too infantile. If he had always balanced between comedic and dramatic moments, as in the transition between the soldiers' comedy song and their arrival in a scorched village, there would be no price for him. Unfortunately, this is a relatively rare example, and the general situation does not help the presence of two comedy-unloading characters from the animal world and three of the same soldiers. Although I can’t help but note that dressing up as women towards the end looks good in contrast to what Mulan herself went through. Especially since they do it to deceive the Huns - and they are hardly picky in women.
Speaking of the Huns. Their leader, Shan-Yu, is a damn cool character. He is not just a walking mountain of muscles and a machine to inspire fear in enemies, but also quite a purposeful commander who knows what he is doing. It is difficult to call him the best villain of Disney animation, still the competition is decent, but specifically in this story he works for a hundred. Shan-Yu is clearly enjoying the process of ruining China and is not looking for easy ways, which makes him a worthy rival. The rest of the people of his tribe were not particularly shown, but it is easy to notice one very eloquent detail, which already says a lot about them: they have yellow, hawkish-like eyes.
Another advantage of the cartoon can be identified individual moments of the final. The nostalgic Critic once wondered in one of his videos why Mulan is quoted as a Disney princess. She has no connection to the royal couple. But then he himself answered – for her feat, the emperor himself worshipped her (and all the people after him), which in some sense makes her even higher than any princess. But at the same time, she not only became the heroine of her people, but also with open arms is accepted into the family. Note that her father, hugging her daughter, does not pay attention to the relics brought, proving her achievements. This is what I call a proper allocation of priorities.
But ending the film with Musha and the dancing spirits may not have been the best idea. After all, "Mulan" is a little not about that. But this hardly spoils the impression of this wonderful film and a worthy representative of the “era of revival” of Disney animation.

Maybe I wanted to look at the mirror, see a decent person? ?
Who are you?!
- The dragon in the coat!
The story of a girl who did not always cope with domestic duties, could not please the matchmaker, get married and become an important lady. But to be honest, none of the above did not tempt her. The main character only wanted to find a calling and be where she would be really happy and make her father proud of her.
“You will be ashamed, your cow will be ashamed...”
I think we've seen changes in Mulan from the beginning to the end of the story. It was impossible not to change. If she went to war to protect her father, it suddenly turned out that she was a warrior. Of course it didn't happen right away. A bunch of rough and uncouth men and a young, charming girl who will have to pretend to be a guy, adapt to a new lifestyle. And the only helpers in such a difficult occupation are only a small talking dragon (who wants to become the guardian of the family and get rid of the hated gong) and a horse with a steep burrow. But we must pay tribute to the environment Mulan. The other characters also changed step by step. She managed to find new, loyal and funny friends and... Even falling in love. But. There's always a "but." What's wrong? Surprisingly, even the war in the Huns is not the most terrible test. What could be worse? That's right. Life hangs in the balance. If anyone learns that there is a girl in the detachment, the “traitor and traitor” is immediately executed, no matter how much she has done exploits.
Late on a day like this! I should not have prayed to my ancestors for good luck.
- Where did they get their luck? They're dead!
Great colorful cartoon. There is so much meaning in it that you can not immediately explain it. Excellent musical accompaniment. Interesting heroes. Good humor, for a long time uplifting mood.
What do we want to be? What do we want to achieve? Is there a choice between duty and heart? How do you recognize your person? The main thing is to follow your heart. It will lead in the right direction. And this masterpiece of Walt Disney teaches us exactly that.
One grain of rice tips the scales. One person can be the key to victory or defeat. "
Mulan is one of the most beautiful creations of old Disney.
I really can't find fault here - strong and brave GG, insanely funny her friend and keeper Mushu (a generator of stupid ideas and funny lines), a good guy Shang, and a bunch of secondary, but funny and pretty cute characters. And, of course, without the main villain.
The music at the top, especially the touching song of GG performed by Christina Aguilera, is breathtaking.
The cartoon is beautiful, kind, sad and touching. It has everything I would like to teach my future children – to be kind, to believe in myself and never give up.
Looking at Disney heroines full-length, there is always the idea that they are thrown from one extreme to the other. They are either naive fools, noticeable only by appearance. Or aggressive characters, not at all like women. For some reason, none of them can, for example, prove themselves intelligent in situations not related to muzzle. The most “intellectual” among them is Belle, who reads fairy tales. Apparently, the rest are completely illiterate (Barby-Rapunzel has only pictures in books). And these princesses are almost completely barren - only Ariel has an only child (the term "hollowflowers"). Mulan is an example of one of these extremes.
After reading the annotation, some viewers may think that this is a cartoon about how a girl joined the army and was able to fight on an equal footing with men. They'll be wrong. This is a cartoon about how a girl went into the army and proved that 1 female person is 100 times cooler than a whole crowd of poor men. It’s no secret that blacks/gays/feminists don’t want equality. They want supremacy over other strata of society who are considered inferior races, subhumans. There is equality only in the “Hussar Ballad”, but then no one would have thought to make a film about the fact that the entire army of Napoleon was defeated by one disguised maid.
However, it should be noted that the propaganda of hatred of men in such a product is not always the main one. Although, of course, there is (for example, an episode where boys offend a girl by taking her doll). The main slops here go just to women of traditional orientation and lifestyle. No representative of such, sympathetic, in “Mulan” simply does not. And in the most vile form, this madam is shown, apparently organizing opposite-sex marriages (a monstrous crime, from the point of view of a tolerant society). It's from the same series that Gaston in Beauty and the Beast claims to want to have many children. So that young viewers (and especially - viewers) firmly learn that such nasty and obscene desires exist only in notorious scoundrels.
Another way to inspire girls to hate their gender are episodes when the heroine is dressed in uncomfortable clothes (here also painted like a doll). Have you ever tried to make something similar about the outfit that causes regular scandals in the fashion capital of Paris? Well, this is when a girl is forcibly packed in a hijab, or even in a niqab, where there are only holes for the eyes. So jokes about the inconvenience of traditional Chinese clothes are no longer relevant, compared to what is happening in many European capitals.
And here is a phrase in one review that led me to this idea. There are a lot of movies about girls who don’t want to be girls. And some viewers like it when girls wield guns and fight like men. Did you know about the boys before? Well, this is when evil tyrannical parents and a backward patriarchal society force a boy to study military affairs. Although he dreams of becoming a designer of women's underwear, so he has to disguise himself as a different gender. Is it true that such an effeminate creature is worse than a short-cut aunt in army uniform? In a normal person, both will cause the same disgust. After all, Mulan masters military affairs to the song with the words "if you want to be a man." Why would the boy to the song “if you want to be a real lady” not master women’s dresses and bras (or the art of makeup), causing a stormy enthusiasm of the audience and a bunch of green reviews? And the example given here with rhythmic gymnastics is no longer relevant, men are now involved in this sport. This is not due to gay activists in the Netherlands. The Japanese did it. The truth is, they are ahead of the planet in this part. It is not for nothing that the first lesbian in children's cartoons appeared in Sailor Moon (at least, so it is said in the description on Kinopoisk).
As rightly stated in one review, if you remove the feminist (more precisely, feminist) component from Mulan, you get an ordinary Disney cartoon, with all its standard clichés. It is worth noting that the ancient Chinese entourage, although it is probably thoroughly distorted. For this
Before us is a stunning, animated film full of magic, incredible story, strength of spirit and heart war in a fragile-looking girl. The cartoon turned out amazing. It will be a wonderful gift for the whole family. It is painted colorfully and beautifully. Watching it, you get into an adventure story full of battles, humor, strength and, of course, love.
In this inspiring story, we see ancient China. The country is attacked by sinister Huns, and to confront them they need the strongest and bravest wars. Instead of his old father, his daughter, Mulan, becomes a soldier. She dresses up as a guy and sees a completely different world in other, unusual colors. To help Mulan comes a little dragon, who must protect her. The girl will have to become wars, find love, defend her homeland and fight the gloomy leader of the Huns.
This cartoon is a real gift. He looks with a smile and interest. It has an amazing soundtrack and beautiful scenes. The characters are interesting and different, and the cartoon has a pleasant atmosphere. The cartoon turned out wonderful, so I appreciated it. Its story is dangerous and adventurous, but a drop of humor and romance makes the cartoon more subtle and sensual. With a huge budget of 70 million dollars, he collected a huge jackpot around the world - more than 300 million dollars. What is the success of the animated picture? I think it's simple and charming.
The cool dragon voiced by Eddie Murphy was the heart of this cartoon and the funniest aspect. It was with him that the funniest jokes and jokes were made. I still remember a couple of his words. As for the main character, she is a very inspiring character. She was driven by love and respect for her father, so Mulan went on an incredible adventure. Mulan's story is deep and extensive. The very same heroine was voiced by the star of "Ambulance" Ming-Na, which after received excellent reviews for her voice and excellent voice acting of the character. The movie itself is full of magic and unexpected surprises. I enjoyed watching this cartoon.
Mulan is a 1998 family adventure film. This gift from Disney is another cartoon for all time. The story of the girl war was shown beautifully, fascinated and really interesting. The movie is great, and it definitely deserves attention. Thank you and enjoy watching!
I do not see the meaning of retelling the plot, I will note only what I remember most and burnt into my soul.
Beautifully shown is the scene of Mulan and her father talking before the announcement of recruitment. Such reverent support and acceptance of the daughter, no matter what, even unjustified expectations.
No matter how the wind rages, the mountain will not bow before it.
Separately, I want to talk about musical accompaniment. The music and songs written for "Mulan" by Jerry Goldsmith are simply magnificent. I don’t know a single person who wasn’t hooked by the “Short Hair” melody that came when Mulan decided to cut her hair, steal her father’s armor, and go to the army instead (one of the most thrilling moments in my opinion). Make a Man Out of You and Make a Man Out of You And a gentle Reflection, which conveyed the mixed feelings of the girl from the image of the bride ... Unobtrusive compositions with a bright oriental color create an atmosphere that does not allow you to take your eyes off the screen for a minute.
It is difficult to say what prompted Mulan to take such decisive action. Caring for a sick father, love for the Motherland or the desire to “look in the mirror, see a person worthy.” There must have been every one of these motives. I don’t quite understand the feminist background attributed to the cartoon. It seems to me that qualities such as courage, courage, honor, dignity and the ability to follow the call of the heart no matter what are worthy of respect regardless of gender.
You will be ashamed, your cow will be disgraced!
The lion’s share of humor falls on the dragon-loser Mush, voiced by the inimitable Eddie Murphy. The character is bright and memorable, without a smile on the scenes with his participation it is simply impossible to watch. I liked the trio of rookie soldiers and a cute cricket.
Cartoon can teach a lot and cultivates the right values: love for parents and country, care for your neighbor and empathy, kindness, honor and the ability to maintain dignity in all situations. And also that through perseverance in overcoming difficulties, if not all, then very much can be achieved.

How many movies are there about dressing up when people pretend to be someone else? I'm afraid it's too complicated. It's just an unrealistic number. How many movies about dressing up as the opposite sex? Agreed. Less. But still, even the TOP 250 is not enough to place them next to each other. How many cartoons on this subject? Just a little. And Mulan is one of them.
Ancient China. The construction of the Great Wall of China has just finished. But the Huns are not entirely happy with the greatness of China and want to bring the entire Chinese people, including the Emperor, to their knees. Having learned about this, war mobilization begins in China. Each family has one man.
Clumsy and terribly unlucky Mulan can not find himself in life. When her ailing father is mobilized for war, she secretly escapes in his armor, posing as a young war man. After hearing the prayers of Mulan’s parents, the souls of their ancestors come to life in order to send a defender after her. But by a strange coincidence, the defender was a small but very charismatic dragon Mushu.
To avoid spoilers, I will not continue. You have to see it yourself. Excellent classic drawing of Disney, chic music, in the best traditions of Alladdin and Hercules. It’s an interesting story that you can’t break away from.
This happens only in a fairy tale, but the real problems are visible in it.
American filmmaking has long been famous for its stereotypical portrayal of characters of different nationalities. A rare film or cartoon does not use templates to show characters from another (non-American) country.
It's a pleasant surprise.
While watching, you just enjoy a good plot, beautiful graphics and funny situations in which the main character is, due to its extraordinary position. Here you do not have to roll your eyes and wrinkle from the outdated stereotypes. Well, the Asians are here, so what? They are no worse than Europeans, just the same people, they know how to feel, they have the same problems.
And it does not occur to me that all this is more than just a beautiful fairy tale.
The cartoon itself is a fairy tale, not pretending to be realistic. He is forgiven for the discrepancy between history and the real state of affairs. However, Mulan has crossed all boundaries.
A rigid patriarchal system? Presented only in the image of a caricature councillor, spitting in the direction of women, the rest - father, emperor and other men who get Mulan on the way - treat the female gender very tolerantly, with easily recognizable words and notes in the voice of today. In the same way, the father scolds the daughter for disobedience, just as the commander of the squad will not listen to an ordinary civilian (be there, anyone).
There are many inconsistencies at the time. Mulan behaves like a typical teenager - although, by age, she is already a bride. She runs away to war and no one knows she's a woman, even in the face of some obvious things.
For adult viewers, definitely, the cartoon is nothing more than a regular viewing. What do you think the small audience will learn from it?
Mulan, a girl of the Fa family, ran away from home to fight instead of her frail father. This is a great example of a daughter’s love for her father. Although she is sometimes rude and straightforward, her actions show her good and bright intentions towards her parents, other people, and the whole country. There will be one revealing moment when she had a choice - and she no doubt prefers to come home with nothing to save China.
Patriotism, love for your country and family, a combination of strength of mind and physical development. The ability to overcome fear, their weakness, to prove their point of view. The movie is full of great role models. Of course, here is the idea that a woman can be a good fighter, and now I do not mean purely the occupation of the main character along with other soldiers. Strong in spirit, not losing herself and her charm - such is the liberator of China, Mulan. Beautiful body and soul, she can be quite a worthy role model. Of course, no one forces girls to join the army - in the cartoon it is perfectly clear that this is a deliberately unsuccessful idea - you need to remain yourself. Just because you were born a woman doesn’t mean you can’t be a hero. I think the movie sends the right message.
Before us quite ordinary Disney cartoon, which was created in the 90s, when Disney released probably the best of their cartoons. Whether from the fact that this cartoon is made in the usual Disney format, or from the fact that I am already an adult, but I do not understand that this cartoon makes the top 250 best pictures.
Probably, this will be a kind of biased and very personal assessment of this cartoon, since personally I just did not like the main characters. As they say in the screenwriters’ party, “the viewer did not take the hero.” Well, maybe I didn't. That is, if I really worried about the characters of “Aladdin” or “The Lion King”, I was interested in the characters of these characters, then in this picture, I almost didn’t care.
In general, the cartoon is made in a typical Disney style - there are songs, talking funny animals (in this case - the spirit of the dragon) there is a story with the fact that "a small creature can do big serious things, the main thing is to believe in yourself" - too.
Perhaps one of the most positive aspects of this film is that now drawn cartoons look with great nostalgia and respect for their creators. Oh, so – it is much inferior to other similar works of Disney in the 90s.
Another Disney project about a girl who is not satisfied with the usual order of things, who does not want to put up with the rules and dreams of a better life. Naturally, she will be able to realize the dream and she, a young girl, even convinces a conservative old man. Such a fairy tale story is no secret to anyone and this scheme about a dreaming girl has been working for many decades, bringing the last time to Disney over a billion dollars (Frozen). But unlike the chewed plot of the fairy tale “The Snow Queen”, which ceases to even be recognized in the cartoon, the basis of the poem about Hua Mulan remains intact. And we got another Little Mermaid, but now the action takes place not in Denmark, but in China and there is a clear emphasis on feminist themes.
As in many countries, in the past millennia there has been a tendency not to regard women as full-fledged human beings equal in rights to men. Of course, even now this trend has persisted, and even in the laws of civilized countries (for example, a woman is also not obliged to perform military service, but otherwise her rights are equal to men, and the legal duties of a woman are ultimately less than that of a man), but then it reached the point of absurdity: a woman had no right to say a word without the permission of a man. After such discrimination, it is not surprising that there are fewer great women on the historic Olympus. This story is about a woman who, albeit due to circumstances, decided to go to war instead of her sick father, ultimately playing a decisive role in the outcome of the battle due to her unconventional female thinking.
The cartoon, oddly enough, will be interesting for everyone: the child will admire the Cricket Kri-Ki and the dragon Mushu, voiced by Eddie Murphy (who later will give the voice to the famous Donkey from Shrek) and the comic antics of the trinity of soldiers Yao, Ling and Chien-Po, the girls will love the main character for her courage, zeal and stubbornness and they will like the inevitable love line, and the men will be quite enough of some erotic hints and episodes that, fortunately, children will not understand. But like most Disney feature films, "Mulan" is a magnificent musical that will appeal even to avid haters is hot, and all thanks to the wonderful soundtrack of Jerry Goldsmith, who composed an amazing range of only 5 songs, which will seem few.
