The ice has moved. This time I will not give a brief annotation to the picture, but go straight to the essence and it is such that we have an adventure thriller with a detective bias, the main role in which was played by Alain Delon. Sounds pretty intriguing, doesn't it? I thought so when I started watching this movie... Oh no, when the credits appeared on the screen I did not regret the decision, but this film did not cause any emotions, and here is why:
The film is saturated and I would even say oversaturated with events that follow each other with incredible speed. Here's Michelle Jerfaux driving a man who was in a car accident to a nearby hospital, playing cards with friends, and he's already having a nice conversation with an elderly woman who is the hero's mother. At the same time, all the events listed by me fit into a ten-minute interval. Oh, yes, it suggests that the man who worked on the book, whose script was the basis of the film, had a lot of interesting ideas that he did not apply. But as I have repeatedly said, the film and the book are similar in many ways, but they are in many ways different and what is suitable for a literary work can become a nail in the coffin for the art. Same here. One event is replaced by another and well, if they were filled with action, high-quality dialogue or the development of the characters of this or that hero / antihero, so no! For the most part, the viewer is shown a banal life and shows who was with whom, who was with whom, who was not with whom, but they forget to tell, and what exactly is this or that hero important for the story? How important is Delon's mother? No, it's understandable that everyone has a mother they love, but she doesn't play a big role in the story. Or the girl of the hero, who is given a lot of screen time, but who will not do anything so well. Perhaps, only perhaps, the book benefited from these characters was much more, but this book is about four hundred strangers, and here is a full-length film lasting a hundred minutes. And of course, in such a small period of screen time, it is impossible to cram everything you want, and therefore one or another storyline has to be abandoned in favor of the main character, his character, motives and life values. But alas, the hero of Alain Delon in this film does not seek to devote secondary characters, and with them and the viewer, what is on his mind. He does not seek to tell about himself anything interesting or ask questions to people who were sent to his soul. Most of the screen time, the hero of Alain Delon is selflessly silent, well, or pronounces a sacramental phrase – “I know”, which makes it clear to the viewer that the hero of Delon read the script, so he knows something. It is pleasing, there is no truth, but it is one thing when the hero knows where to go and what to do, and quite another thing when the viewer is also dedicated to it. Agreed? Also, the main bad guy of Emmerish Corporation is deprived of the main thing, namely individuality. He wants to kill his colleagues because they allegedly betrayed him. Whether the viewer will never know, so we will have to take the main bad guy at his word. He's not really gonna lie, is he? The bad guy has a fat cat, which is really not white, but gray, but still involuntarily want to draw a parallel with Ernst Blofeld from the immortal movie series about James Bond. At the same time, at one point the main bad guy behaves like a serious businessman, and at another he begins to panic and tear his last hair, which causes bewilderment. It seems to be a serious businessman who has seen a lot of things, who is used to playing with the fates of other people, and seems to be a spoiled boy who decided to play “adult games”. And because of this contrast, you do not know how to treat the head of the Emmerish Corporation. Probably not.
Thus, the film has an uneven storyline. Heroes who at least do something on the screen, but to themselves, alas and ah, do not have. There is also a good musical accompaniment and high-quality action scenes that do not let the viewer get bored. Thus, “Three need to remove” is a purely one-time film that can be watched, or you can with the same success and miss. You will not lose anything at all.
