Shall we go to the moon? . If you start strictly from the definition that the remake in the film industry is a newer version of a previously released film, then Missile to the Moon by Richard E. Cunha is not even a remake of Cat-Women of the Moon (1953) by Arthur Hilton. Filmed five years later, it appeared for a single reason - at least on the screen ahead of "the Russians" after the launch of the first Soviet satellite in 1957. One of the characters on this occasion very unambiguously states: "We must definitely get ahead of the Russians in the flight to the moon!"
This phrase is the whole essence of the film, and there is nothing “newer” than the film “Catwomen from the Moon” in “Rocket to the Moon”. On the contrary, it is an example of an absolutely unsuccessful remake, which “cast a shadow” on the original, which is head above in all respects: in terms of overall emotional intensity, and in terms of filming quality, and in terms of female “Moon Characters”. The main disadvantage of "Missile to the Moon" I see in the fact that the writers as the main characters chose ... fugitive criminals who hid from the sheriff in the cockpit of a ready-to-launch rocket!
Either this is such a “subtle” scenario that even escaped convicts can overtake Russians in the just-launched “space race,” or Richard E. Cunha in such a pejorative way tried to belittle the triumph of the USSR in space exploration. In any case, this did not affect A. Gagarin’s flight (haha!). But the film itself was simply “spoiled” with all sorts of film blunders. I'm not even talking about the noticeable ropes on which hangs the cave wonder Yudo. And not the clouds floating in the sky. And not about torches and sound waves. I'm talking about "space suits" landed on the surface of "astronauts".
What else can be forgiven in films about Mars (still some atmosphere is present, and the temperature at the equator is more or less acceptable), on the moon looks like a frank mockery - the bare neck of cheerfully walking "migrants"! But even more nonsense looks like the Sun in the blink of an eye incinerates a biological object!!! Such crazy temperatures are mortally envious of both Mercury and the planet Crematoria from the Chronicles of Riddick (2004). It is clear that the first photos from the surface of the moon will not appear soon, but the fact that the moon has almost no atmosphere, and the sky there is always (even during the day) – black, and the Earth looks from the moon 3.67 times larger than the moon from the Earth – well known.
In general, the film was frankly weak and uninteresting. Not save him, not shooting in a place like “space” Vazquez Rocks. Not Katie Downs as Jean Saxton. Neither are the Lunar Amazons, among which almost no Miss Germany 1952 Renata Hoey stands out. They do not save, because there is no main thing in the film - a highlight for which you can watch even frank thrash.
