An invisible friend in love affairs helped, and I saved him in a difficult hour. Novosibirsk Amateur film actor Evgeny Bochkarev in 2016 released his short debut – a fantastic tale about an exemplary schoolboy Vas (or, if you will, Vasilka) and his faithful invisible comrade Weiss (well, how not to think about the alter-ego?). Unlike the works in which Bochkarev starred, his film is far from such a shitty spectacle.
First, it's a pretty harmless, kind and sweet story about the friendship of two boys, instilling the right values. For example, you can take any risk to save a friend. Second, the child actors here are a sight. They play better than adults (although not ideal by general standards of skill), and outwardly they seem very pretty, clean and neat children who need to be taken and shot in a very different movie, promoting their photogenicity and talent to the masses. The main friendly duo seemed to me generally a good find: the guys managed to remain convincing in the frame, communicating with each other, especially in the scene of a ride to a girl in the dining room. This is a pure romance, and it is commendable.
But, unfortunately, the impression was spoiled by plot inconsistencies and blunders. For example, how is it that a young alien from another world could be heard by a guard, but no one in the classroom could hear it? Or why, again, no one paid attention to the strange behavior of Vasya, discussing anything with an invisible woman, although there is no doubt that from the outside it looks odd? The script needs to be refined, and some adult actors don’t need to be more natural. So what are you doing worse?
“Miracle Child” caused me, albeit pleasant, but still ambiguous impression. That's the case where the production outperformed the script, although if you think about it, it should be a little different. Anyway, the script is the very foundation on which the building of the film stands. Do you agree?
