Once upon a time I watched the horror movie “Stop”. Now I got my hands on his continuation.
There was little mystical in the first part. Except for the maniac who survived the car explosion. There's more mysticism here. And you can't say it's bad. But not very well either. For example, I never understood whether a maniac could be killed or not. The maniac appeared in places where, by definition, it should not be. All of this was disturbing.
The atmosphere itself is what happened. The deserted state of Alabama, decorated in dead-yellow tones, the general depressive-suicidal atmosphere - for this a giant plus. There were also dynamic moments. I'm not an amateur, but if there are, there is a dismemberment. However, there is a problem: how can a person with drilled knees run? . .
Traditionally, we go to the actors.
Richard Tillman is 3. That's not how sergeants behave. The wrong actor was chosen.
Jesse Ward is 4.5, to be commended, I think she can do more.
Graham Norris – 4, I didn’t fully understand who the creators wanted to make. I am not able to assess this objectively.
The second part did not surpass the first. But to call her bad language does not turn.
Here I read reviews and I am amazed. Some prequel fans complain about the unsavory plot of this picture, despite the fact that the prequel is no less insane. I look at the analysis of these people and begin to realize that John Sheban is not alone in his grief. I was wondering, ‘Who would like that?’ But I would like to clarify at least one detail of these reviews, because I am a person who is uncomfortable with such things.
Jason Voorhees: And a murdered family comes back after saying "35 years later," is that okay? - Dear, this family of psychopaths died and their phantoms remained, as did those very victims who were fornicating in this anomalous zone. So you're picking on the wrong things. Wouldn’t it be better to focus on the fact that people have been victims since 1971, while the sequel reveals the backstory of a mysterious chauffeur who in 1972 was an ordinary man and was killed by that family? His death under the rites, with the tearing out of his eyes and tongue, apparently activated an unknown curse, as a result of which, by the will of the devil, the driver was resurrected and made "Friendship" to this family. This is how the Mystical Stop Office was founded.
In the second part of this “masterpiece”, John Sheban gave the director’s chair to Sean Papazian (one of the producers of the prequel), limiting himself to the script and production. But as the mathematics says, “a change in the places of numbers does not act on the total sum.” But there is some progress in camera work, because Mark Vargo was replaced by Jas Shelton. The second was more selective in the perspectives.
As for the plot, after the "mini show" backstory, the events move on to "our days," a year after Nicole and Jesse disappeared. Those who watched the first series know the fate of this couple. But Jesse's brother, serviceman Tom, who has just returned from duty, is convinced that his brother is alive and intends to find him. It's not without snot, like, "I promised to protect him." With him comes his girlfriend and former classmate Jerad, who since childhood fell in love with Nicole (GG of the first series) and naively believes that finding the missing, will win her heart (and not only).
The head of the bastards (KZL-303) is again dusting on the roads of the old freeway, on his faithful yellow horse. But this time, we are shown it in full beauty, without any eclipses of the profile. A mustachioed, blue-eyed, middle-aged man, and the look on his face is like a demented child whose father forgot to pick up from kindergarten. It looks like an alternative to Bradley Cooper’s character from Midnight Express. Or maybe he changed his job, from the metro to desert roads?
And the family of psychopaths, which used to be the business card of this film, in the sequel is of a secondary nature of “improvised means”.
Again paranoia, again ghosts that appear, then disappear, occasionally giving leads (and not only) and vomiting blood on the main characters. But what is pleasing, this time the developments go beyond the toilet, and the toilet booth is not the only point of “teleportation” of ghosts.
In the end: the second film, which was supposed to explain some of the inefficiencies of the predecessor and he did it. At the same time, he proved that John Sheban did not know about common sense and rationality. The sequel spawned an army of question marks and did not change tradition. What to say, a worthy continuation and worthy assessment:
The continuation of the extremely stupid film called "Stop" in principle in my opinion turned out, at least this film can safely be called much more successful in comparison with the first part.
First, the characters. The characters in the sequel are presented much better, they have become older (in terms of character and adequacy) and many times more interesting than in the previous film, their actions have become more balanced and logical. If in the first part, the actions of many characters seemed absolutely stupid and illogical to me, especially the policeman! There are no such characters here. The main characters have improved much, if in the first part they were none, then here we can say that they have some charisma, but unfortunately not much, but still there is in contrast to the original.
Second story. In principle, the plot does not present anything particularly new, also the scene, the maniac on the yellow pickup truck, but now the plot answers many questions that tormented the audience in the first part. Finally, we explain the appearance of the maniac on this pickup truck, its essence and origin, although they explain quite exaggeratedly, but in general, the gaps are filled by 50-60%. Slightly reveal a mysterious trailer with a strange family, in general, the director decided to lift the veil of secrecy and slightly save us from the stupidities of the first part.
In general, the characters and plot have improved for me compared to the first part, which cannot be said about the atmosphere and acting. The atmosphere in the film was weak and remained, and the acting work could have been much better, the only one who would like to praise it a little.
The result is that this film is better than the first part, it is more interesting and logical, but this is only compared to the first part. In general, this film is not good, it is in many ways weak and clichéd!

Although I didn’t like the first part, I decided to watch the sequel, but just because the prequel left a lot of questions.
This is not a spiritual sequel, since the couple who disappeared in the first part go looking for them. But not cops, alas. Cops don't care about people disappearing at this damn stop. Jesse is looking for his brother, taking his girlfriend for the company. Nicole is looking for a classmate in love with her from school. All three of them safely get to the damn place. Of course, nothing good will come of it.
At the very beginning of the sequel, the screenwriters suddenly decided to answer the question that must be asked when watching the prequel: what kind of family with a religious mind, driving around in a motorhome? It turns out that once upon a time this family, embodying the commandments of Christ, tore out the eyes of some “sinner”. Then this sinner dealt with all this crazy "cell" of American society. Everyone became ghosts... The judgment of God on earth has already been performed by these same ghosts.
In the sequel, the plot develops more dynamically, there is more blood and cruelty. However, some of the questions left by the predecessor were not answered when watching the sequel.
The writers seem to be very concerned about the toilet. To frighten people sitting on a pot waiting for relief is not sacrilege? In this way, God’s judgment may be fulfilled: you will not be allowed to poop properly.
The movie doesn't look in one breath. Initially, an interesting idea was crumpled and thrown into the very toilet in which the heroes were waiting for the judgment of God, sitting on the toilet.
It is not scary that you have reached a dead end, it is scary that you are there and stayed.
It's been exactly a year since Jesse and Nicole went missing. Jesse's brother, Tom is back from the army, and now he's determined to find his blood by traversing the desert roads of America. And to help Tom in this case will be his girlfriend Marilyn and childhood friend Jared. Well, in the course of the maniac is waiting for a three-course lunch.
The plot from the very beginning pleases with frank stupidity and hacking. Who's going to tell me how Tom was going to find his missing brother on the desert roads of America a year later? Even if Jesse is alive, and those who saw the first movie know it isn’t, why should he and his alleged kidnappers be stuck in the same spot for a year? This is ridiculous! But it's not that important, Tom for some unknown reason carries a whole arsenal in the trunk of his car. There's an M-16 and a deserted needle and another handbag gun, how did you get them out of military service, and most importantly, what were you thinking when you took all these guns with you? The first cop will arrest you, at least for illegal possession of a weapon, and at most for a murder you didn't commit! Cops, you guys are so cute, didn't you know? Although there is one undoubted plus - the maniac will be easier, cope with the guys. Speaking of the maniac. The film explains what is going on in it. It turns out that our killer is the ghost of a trucker, who is turned on religion family of psychopaths cut out eyes in the distant 72 AD. Why not 71 when people started missing? Well, probably because someone watched the movie very badly first. Never mind. So our ghost, unlike all kinds of poltergeists, has a physical body and cuts out all the oncoming and transverse eyes. Why other ghosts do not become the same killers, and serve as a conductor of the will of a dead trucker I do not know, ask what is easier. Please note that this is not all the stupidity that happens in the film, but only the first half an hour of the film. Then there will be tearing out the eyes with the help of passages and “bathing” of the heroes in feces and many other things equally ridiculous. Creators, you have surpassed yourself! The story became even more stupid than in the first part, bravo!
As for acting, in this film it is completely absent. If in the first picture, the actors at least tried to pass off something similar for emotions, then in the continuation they walk with stone faces and occasionally curve, and these curves should depict pain. And where do the creators of such paintings manage to find such “talented” guys?
There was no tension in the first film, there was no tension in the second. And where does it come from if nothing happens in the movie. Well, the victims have now become an order of magnitude more, but the ghost is not in a hurry to deal with young people, at the same time young people are not in a hurry to find a way out of this situation. Music still appears when it is not necessary, and when it is necessary successfully comes to naught, and as for camera work, the shaking hands of the operator were added to the blurring landscapes. It's just a celebration!
So what's the bottom line? And in the end, we have a worthy continuation of the first part. There is everything to spoil the mood of anyone. And a talentless script, and disgusting acting, and a completely destroyed atmosphere. I don’t know why it was necessary to shoot a sequel to a film that was bad in all respects, but I sincerely hope that the third part will never see the light of day. As for you, dear viewer, I still advised you to watch some other movie, for there is absolutely nothing to catch.
When I started watching the movie, I was supposed to see something like “The Wrong Turn.” I am quite skeptical about the Wrung Turn cycle, but it turned out that there are worse things.
Why did the creators need to combine a maniac and a ghost in one body? To increase fear in the audience? We are afraid when we begin to believe in what we see, and it is impossible to believe in what happens on the screen while watching such a movie. Personally, I failed.
As soon as the characters decide to go to unfamiliar places in two different cars, you realize that the “simple” as usual will catch themselves in a trap. What happens next can only be described in one word. Paranoia, just paranoia. The bodies of inanimate people materialize and disappear again (and so on several times), the “simple” frankly wait for them to be caught, the main killer also walks around the bush, although with such super-skills you can at least “clean up” the whole country at once, and he is all riding his stroller. There is nothing to say about the crazy family. Evil dealt with them at the beginning of the film (in the distant 70s), and they up to the present day quietly ride on the bus and, as if nothing happened, suck “ice cream”. And all this ridiculous nonsense happens in the dullest "sorty" atmosphere.
And how many flaws in the film that cause confusion... Where do the lunatic inhabitants of these gas stations get gasoline? And why does the main character manage to move with a drilled knee as if he was injured by a glass? How do you kill a maniac? To the end of the film, he resembles a ranger.
The only spoonful of honey in this barrel ... (I'm afraid to write what exactly) are actors. Well, they were perfectly matched. But they couldn’t save the movie.
As a result, a talentless picture, for viewing which is ashamed of yourself. I just want to ask the director or the writer, What did you do? And what in your “masterpiece” should catch the viewer?

A direct sequel to the first "Stop," shot by the same team and with occasional use of the same horns that were in the first part. True, the performer of the role of Nicole was replaced by another, but given that the actresses are like two drops of water, the difference is completely invisible.
I've seen two parts in a row, so it's pretty easy to do a comparative analysis. In my opinion, the continuation was successful, at least with the original it "glued together" perfectly. The main problem of the first “Stop” was that according to the idea (or flaw) of the script, it turned out to be almost plotless and because of this, some kind of empty. The sequel helped in part - the creators were able to cover some of the past gaps, although they still left the story, to put it mildly, transparent. It is noticeable that “Stop 2” is not a step forward, but rather a competent run on the spot, more dynamic, but stubbornly does not answer most questions about the motivation of the main evil and the biography of the abnormal family in the trailer. I think all this can be taken as a direct hint of a further series.
As for the film itself... It does not look much more interesting than the first part, except that it is slightly brighter, because there are more heroes. The brightest spot is Steve Railsback as the owner of the gas station. Such a strange character, but his external detachment clearly caught on. In the action, everything is the old way – surreal shuffling of the people within a limited territory. Characters appear, disappear, reappear and disappear again, and against the background of this ugliness invariably rides the sought-after "Ford" with an incomprehensible, but not at all terrible maniac inside, who from time to time, generously, gives the viewer a passing and not very expressive grin. It's quite lookable, but nothing more. In addition, completely dependent on the original - it seems to me that one who did not see the first part, obviously will not be able to penetrate the second, they are too tied together. So the title "Don't Look Back" is clearly not suitable here - in the case of this film, look back is very desirable.
Nevertheless, we can conclude that the regiment of strong fresh medium-sized thrillers has arrived, and it is not unreasonable to count on the fact that “Stop” in the near future will become a trilogy.
