Hello guys, my first work will be devoted to the animated series, which I finished watching just a week ago.
Probably all of you are tired of watching endless fantastic films from Marvel about another superhero, just as I never found interesting endless pursuit of budgets, as well as special effects, which, unfortunately, does not entail an improvement in the storytale component.
Also, I absolutely do not like in the so-called “superhero” genre of films the division of characters into those who have white morality and black; imagine if you were figuratively superman or Flash or Spider-Man, what you would like to do in ordinary life, what you would think about, how it would affect you mentally – all these issues I devote very little screen time, as for me.
And then, in 2009, the film “Guardians” is released under the direction of Zack Snyder, which was at one time something completely new, because there was an additional plane of morality, the characters received additional personal motives, became not quite white and fluffy, and I still consider this movie one of the best in superhero themes, but now not about him.
In 2019, the series “Boys” is released, which simply completely and to the end turns the game, because in it superheroes are endowed with all human qualities and vices, which are revealed amazingly interestingly as the narrative unfolds, the heroes there are from a part and villains, just as villains (according to the canons of subjective perception of the majority) have moral principles and fight, so to speak, not only for themselves and their motives, but for humanity as a whole. But it's not about kids.
In 2021, the animated series Invincible or Invulnerable, as you like.
As you can already understand, I missed it at the time of release, but when I got acquainted with it, I fell in love with this cartoon and plunged from head to toe and watched 4 episodes in 1 night and 4 for another sip.
I do not want to spoil, and tell you about the plot of this animated series, I will try to introduce you to the series in 2 sentences, then tell you what it is good and what it did not quite succeed, as I see.
Instantly we are immersed in the thick of the plot events and this world, the action takes place mainly in America, which in general, like the whole world, is subjected to endless attack by all sorts of aliens. The protagonist Mark is an ordinary guy of 17 years, whose father really has something like Superman, who lives an ordinary life and combines it with super heroic duties, but one day Mark opens up super powers like his father, and he begins to try to cope with them and learns to use them. I'd say a lot more here, but again, I don't want to spoil. In addition to these two guys, there are quite a lot of other superheroes in this world, there are similar to those we have seen before, but there are absolutely new ones with interesting super powers, characters and personalities in general, they are at war not only with aliens, but also with super villains from this universe, a lot of new types of personalities and various ideas that were embodied in the characters and abilities of the characters.
The story of the animated series, excluding the description of its content, is breathtaking and keeps all 8 episodes interested, each series carries a certain task, which makes me very happy, with its tightness or meaningless water and does not smell, which is also very happy.
The musical component of the series is chic, the soundtrack always seems appropriate, and it is pleasant to listen to, for this +rep.
The drawing of the animated series is very pleasant and beautiful, the only thing that sometimes there is a drawdown in the number of frames, as well as the textures of some objects look very sometimes and rarely, but still, and this personally knocks me a little off the stake, and only for this reason this series is not ideal at the time of the first season.
Summing up, I want to say that this series will definitely appeal to a very large audience, because in my opinion this is one of the flagship cartoons of the 21st century, be sure to watch.
9 out of 10
Take a typical, cardboard superhero animated series with poor drawing... that’s it. . . But why the 6? There are 2 reasons. 1) It's so bad it's not bad. You know, when a scene is good, not because it's good, but because you can scold it. 2) There is a pinch of boys... when superheroes are not spherical in a vacuum, but with interesting nuances.
Movies about superheroes are already boring to many, except for special effects, they can not surprise, not only the ending is banal, where good necessarily defeats evil, but also the beginning and the middle. But there is hope that the popularity of superhumans goes to a new level. To our happiness, Hollywood seems to have figured out that a new perspective was needed and decided to look for new ways to develop this genre. Perhaps even a new trend is emerging, in the competition of CEOs of large companies who better show superheroes from the other side. So far, only Amazon is cautiously involved in this battle, which, apparently, after their own series “Boys”, realized that people like the destruction of conventional ideas about superhumans and went into the field of animation with an adult adaptation of the comic.
We are thrown into the abyss of events, the world has long lived among the constant attacks of various aliens, and good superheroes save them, along the way destroying half of the city. We are introduced to 17-year-old Mark - the son of the local Superman Omni-man, but only from the planet Wiltrum. He gets his superpowers quite late and, without even having time to get used to them, he has to change his established life to protect the world. The main canvas consists of the struggle of good against evil and adolescent problems, but all the interest is in the details. From the first series, a machine of unexpected plot twists is launched, moreover, not just for seed, in order to keep the viewer at the beginning, but then he himself will inspect, so that the feeling of incompleteness disappears. In the subsequent series, you can see many difficult to predict, mysterious moments that will leave with the question “What was it?” and “What will happen next?”
As someone who hasn’t read the comic book, I’m excited and surprised by the number of new, diverse superheroes. It was difficult to do without homage on all famous personalities: Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Iron Man (although more like a Warrior), well, the already mentioned Superman, all lit up one way or another, but it was not known to the general public superhumans (and not only people) that caused interest. New images, unusual abilities, bright costumes and appearance in general. Sometimes I thought that not always seen could come to mind even with brainstorming.
Separately, it is worth noting the choice of animation for film adaptation, it is extremely successful. Firstly, the picture itself does not cause disgust and is generally pleasant to the eye, sometimes, of course, moments where the frame rate is significantly reduced, but this is not critical. Secondly, the space that animation gives is almost limitless. You can show any species, whether it's Earth, space or another planet, any abilities, any destruction, any monsters, both ordinary and gigantic scales, and also what stands out here - any level of cruelty. I'm sorry to mention it, but the blood, the meat, the intestines, the crushed skulls, the dismemberment, there's plenty of it, all without any censorship. The creators did not stint on sophisticated ways of killing both one and a large number of people. In general, the combat component is made very qualitatively and it is not only about animation. Usually, in moments of protracted battles, you begin to yawn because of the monotony, but in our case everything looked harmonious and with interest.
If you think about some emotional component, then it is not always possible to get attached to the characters, for various reasons, some of which are dictated by the plot. But in general, the characters are made interesting, it is difficult to bring someone as an example, because the story about the brightest of them can spoiler the plot. I liked the fact that the dramatic cliches almost managed to escape. If the character from the very beginning played a certain character and type of person, he in the end does not change dramatically for some banal reasons, global changes are smooth, and with explanations. But in some moments, the stupidity still slipped and, let’s say, the people in this series are extremely theatrical about the lie, no matter what was behind it.
To summarize, I would like to think that many need 2-3 episodes to understand whether the series is their time or not, but in this case, the authors made it possible to reduce this rule to only one series - after its ending, even if the series did not like, you will want to know what will happen next.
After watching the series leaves a double feeling. On the one hand, it is fun, on the other - not very pleasant.
A distinctive feature of this picture is the age rating of +18 and departure from the canons of DC and Marvel, where the characters are immortal and no one practically dies, and the main characters work on the principle: even villains will survive - I will beat them, but I will leave them alive.
Here everything is exactly the opposite, the pattern breaks - beat, maim and kill positive characters and ordinary people, here you will find a dismemberment and severed limbs.
I know that this animated series is an adaptation of the comic book and it is clear that the author of the original has some sadistic tendencies. Instead of tough fights, the focus is on violence and cruelty. And she's obviously overreacted and it's not cool. For what? I don't understand. .
Now about the main antagonist, and his 'civilization'. So this is bullshit. Even with incredible superhuman abilities, civilization is not capable of development without any universal values.
What the hell is a super advanced civilization? They resemble rather an aggressive tribe of savages, living on the principle: I am more right! - such a way of life was in the Stone Age. Who is responsible for the technological progress of society? Developing her culture? Ah, yes, the culture of these double-digit IQ duboloms is an unnamed need to destroy and kill. The highest form of life? Don't be ridiculous. .
In short, here the series repeats the concept of Marvel in a bad sense of the word. Like there are bad absolute evils and there are good guys. Something like that. .
Amazing luck Amazon or feverish jumps on the departing train.
At that time, a mountain like Amazon managed to give birth to a film product with a rating above 8. This is an incredible success for such a rich, but terribly stupid streaming service. Critics squeak with delight, viewers add. Ordinary people are more attracted by memes from the Internet, the lack of a premiere at the moment among competitors in the genre and the hope that someone will be able to say something new in the genre. What's the result? In my opinion, it turned out not so much, and if we talk about the new, it turned out almost nothing. Of course, fish and the so-called Invincible sometimes look cheerful, but manages to stumble, then stretch about himself almost every series.
The first thing that catches the eye, the series as if can not determine what his age rating, in rare moments you will throw bloody intestinal treshatina, with crushed heads and focus on the fragility of human organisms, but then for a long time and tediously without sparing screen time you will rinse your brains with pink nozzles of flat characters who seem to live in the same flat world. The series, alas, is physically unable to muster the courage to bring true realism to the story and substantiate the morality of the characters with some clear thoughts and actions. The secret of success is a very rare shock content and terrible lengthy dialogue and inconclusive self-digging, . . . smelled Walkers, all quite in the tradition of Robert Kirkman. Instead of developing a story and characters, our heroes will suffer from mild dementia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and of course verbal diarrhea. If such a presentation of adolescent characters can still be experienced, by default considering people of adolescence emotionally and mentally inferior, then for older characters it is definitely a white spot in the plot. It is possible to reason about why a particular character acts in the worst way for himself at almost every minute, but this man, almost immortal, it assumes some wisdom, has a goal and motivation to do this, that, that, but as if he deliberately does it as necessary according to the plot, and not as would make a person much more modest abilities and in the end dull and predictably fails.
Problems begin with the title, the main character chose the superhero name Invincible, to describe how it does not fit him even do not want to start. The worthlessness and boredom of the main character, will cornen the eyes of each series. Hysterical, useless, illogical to the extreme, teenagers are almost a signature feature of the creators of the comic book. Was it so conceived, but only straining memory one can recall some third-rate scenes, where the protagonist did not catch the chapters, almost fatally from completely insignificant enemies. Perhaps the creators decided to show on these harsh lyules the cruelty of the world, the formation of a hero and other labuda, which makes the story itself even more crooked and not logical. I would be more interested in asking them simple questions: Why is the character, then able to tear off the head of the enemy in a second, then boring and nauseous sparring with him with damage to his health? Are these masochistic role-playing games, fatalities happening at a stop? The so-called heroes are still practically invincible and unaffected by physical damage, or, if it were not for lying in hospital beds for weeks, did they give their soul to God? And a good piece of the story indicates a problem! Oh, God, we don't know how to stop him, we're unarmed! Um, guys -- well, he's in the bunk over there, behind your backs, roughly unconscious, covered in blood, seems extremely vulnerable. I did not see anything great difficulty in their, if not destruction, then certainly immobilization. What's the problem? The problem is actually one, the screenwriters trained where possible ideas, threw meat, but were unable to properly process them, they are not even capable of self-irony, about black humor I generally remain silent. If the same Boys turned the genre, then the Invincible could not understand what he is and for whom, he is about the heroes, or about the villains, the story we have whole or we frantically stretch the snot on the fist in the hope of stretching for 10 seasons, the morality we have gray or tired black and white. By the way, here's what, and tolerance for colors, orientations and compression of movements here at least drop. It is not for nothing that Western critics gave high marks. The eye and ears quickly wither from the abundance of everything eternal, fashionable and right, giving more agenda, strong women, gays (homosexuality should be especially emphasized in the dialogue) degenerative white oppressors and passive white cogs in the lead roles. Well done Amazon, we are eagerly waiting for the same fashionable and modern series on the Lord of the Rings, the bags are ready.
As a result, the series with a rating of 18+, according to the script, this is the last Disney for children, the characters are not interesting, the story is banal, the canvas of events is replete with a lack of logic and it is depressing, a lot of guns are hung in the hope of continuing, most of the series is concerned with the submission of the necessary agenda, not the development of the story, to remove meat and no interesting elements there will remain, except for easily recognizable clichés and borrowing. You can watch the first and last episodes, and there is little you can lose. And the final 2/3 is devoted to smearing snot and reflection of the characters. Checked out when the one-off passerman comes off.
Apparently, Amazon Prime Video has decided to become the unspoken flagships of postmodern meta-superheroics, zealously distancing themselves from the diligent adaptations of Marvel and DC. And if the latter only occasionally and with a fearful glance enter this territory, at the last moment steering on the beaten fabulous rails, the Amazonians break up full-fledged camps on these ironic-stoic expanses, arranging narrative dances of varying degrees of ingenuity.
"Boys" already with the release of the first season acquired the status of cult, with a special insane quirky twisting superhero canons and building on this original, absolutely surreal cryvozerkal universe. The recently released animated “Invincible” adheres to the event vector set by the gaming predecessor, although the original comic book source of the second came out four years earlier than “Boys”. Invented by Robert Kirkman, the author of the cult “The Walking Dead”, “Invincible” at the same time and ironizes us with mothballed superhero trails, combing the cliches, and diligently adheres to an established narrative, in general terms referring to a dozen similar stories.
Sometimes it looks rather strange, when, for example, against the background of the ongoing absurdism, we are forced to wade through puberty amorous suffering "a la Spider-Man", reducing the general level of psychedelia to banal and boring plot.
But when the action is transferred to the plane of superhero mythology, or rather to its sparkling and hooligan redrawing, the story is transformed, begins to boil and spill on the viewer its narrative otherness, dotted with all sorts of rethinkings of traditions. The universe of “Invincible” is a panopticum of amazing and funny characters, some of which are not so invincible, at one point turning into expendable material, which the authors with special relish demonstrate in the key scene of the first episode. Here it should be noted that the main feature of the series (as well as the aforementioned "Boys") is excessive blood and cruelty: the creators do not intend to pity either the viewer or the main characters, or even extras of their story. Sometimes there are chopped in the blood cabbage of all indiscriminately, what can not boast of buttoned on all ethical buttons mass screening.
Ideas and meanings of the “Invincible” are suggested by older brothers, but slightly modernized and slightly reformulated: they do not open new horizons, but do not cause righteous audience anger with their secondary nature. The main thing is that the plot does not let you get bored, and the creators do not hesitate to revel in the absurd and belligerent vicissitudes of their history, which is easy to write off on the animated convention of such creations.
I hope that in the next seasons ("Invincible" extended for the second and third) the authors will be more confident and less clumsy to develop the main message of the project, because despite the extended timekeeping of each episode, some topics and conflicts are presented somehow confused and talked in a hurry, as if the creators tried to fit everything into 8 episodes at once, forgetting that moralism should not be presented and painted so clearly and clumsy. And the main drawing deserves more visual ingenuity: Amazon, add the guys budget, or it is painfully primitive against the background of a lush original!
In general, a funny, broken, ironic and sometimes stupid cruel variation on the topic.
Verdict: Kulik praises this swamp!
1) The drawing is standard good and even slightly more than standard Amiricos cartoons.
2) Special effects and moments - hum, almost on par with Rick and Morty.
(3) Dialogue, action, story. - Extremely strange in the sense that very close to reality, relationships, teenage problems, emotional ' shoals ' ordinary people. The twists and turns of the plot, the decisions of the characters, are extremely qualitative.
(4) For which the obvious big plus from me is blood, intestines, meat grinder, cruelty. Heroes are injured, their teeth are knocked out, they lie in the hospital, enemies are minced, their strength must be mastered (What?).
(5) You won’t take me much, but in 2-3 moments I almost let a stingy man’s tear, like in Jojo.
(6) If I put in the tops with anime, then this is a creation of 20-30% of the best works.
Japanese anime, in its main gray mass, is the final triumph of form over content. It attracts an unusual, even stunning setting, but then fills with a nauseating stream of clichés that fans tend to call chips. We are talking about teenage protagonists, amnesia of the main character, constant sexual overtones without moving to action and others. “Invincible”, as if mocking the genre, flirts with anime stamps, beating them, but in a different way.
The teenage protagonist, who dreams of superpower all his life, gets it suddenly, without overcoming trials and it breaks his character and will several times in the course of the plot. In contrast to the traditional Japanese victory of the protagonist after strong-willed effort and the accompanying Insight, the hero of "Invulnerable" gets tough lulas every time he begins to believe in his "power." The series seems to laugh at the Japanese protagonists, suddenly discovering superpowers only through willpower. Whether you are determined and self-assured a thousand times, firm as stone and unshakeable on the way to the goal, the true possession of power is not the attribute of strong will, but of a long road to the goal. There is a Japanese saying, “A samurai has no purpose, only a path.” The main character of the "Invulnerable" superpower gives not a guarantee of victory over the enemy, but only a chance not to die after another fiasco. In this approach to the relationship between willpower and victory, the animated series betrays its Western origins. Here is the familiar rule of 10,000 hours and the constant subtext of a patient winner, at various times mentioned by famous European personalities. “Only the patient wins” Louis XIV, “The world belongs to the patient” Al Capone and others. The idea of patience on the way to the goal is characteristic of the Western and, as a result of cultural pressure, for the domestic mentality. Here you can even flirt with Protestant ethics and the idea of hard work as a way to receive the blessing of the Almighty, but this will completely take away from the subject of discussion.
The protagonist's relationship with the opposite sex also flirts with the manner of the Japanese heroes to suffer around their unhappy love, stuttering and turning into squalor whenever sexual context or love hints appear. The protagonist is portrayed as an equally inexperienced teenager, but he is sincere in his intentions and calmly shows initiative towards women. He moans before approaching Eve and behaves insecurely, but his consistency in conversation and honesty quickly make them friends. At the same time, there is no typical for the genre of walking around the bush. And acquaintance with Amber seems unthinkable for the genre, a girl interested in a guy looks at him, and then she shows sympathy and gives a reason for a relationship. In general, to perceive “Invulnerable” through the prism of the experience of Japanese animation is doubly pleasant. Cultural Western affiliation of the characters pleases throughout the plot. These story arcs carry a healthy idea for personal life – if you like a person, go to him, tell him how you feel and be sincere. In contrast to the Japanese genre, the lot of the lover is only suffering.
The presentation of the plot is characteristic of streaming projects. We see a miniseries, without a series of fillers - a cancerous tumor of the Japanese anime genre. The plot of “Invulnerable” from series to series is only gaining momentum. From the monotonous first series, introducing the viewer to the rules of the universe and the main characters, to the dynamic end of the season, almost entirely devoted to the final fight of the protagonist. In the ideological sense, “Invulnerable” is also pleasing with multifacetedness. Here is the idea of patience as a virtue, here is the idea of the grayness of life choices, the complexity of combining family and work. Here and submitted through the arch of Eve beautiful thoughts that help and benefit can be in different ways, that we ourselves must choose our way.
Summing up the visual component, we can say that the “Invulnerable” here everything is in order. Amazon, in an effort to take a bite from Netflix, spares no money on their original projects. The drawing is remembered for dislike of “statics” and originality of violence. Specifically, the ultraviolence in Invulnerable is the icing on the cake that gives the dish a special spiciness. Characters in the best traditions of “Game of Thrones” get lula and go to the next world. This approach makes the battles even more intense, as in the example of a scene where an alien almost shoots Eva’s chest makes her shrink on a chair and worry about the character. If it were a typical superhero genre, this scene would go unnoticed. After "Boys" and "Unbreakable," Amazon's approach to superheroics is definitely starting to cheer. Let’s hope the service will not bend under the agenda and will continue to please such first-class projects.
A pretty good discovery of this year is the adaptation of the comics by Robert Kirkman. Adult rating, realism, acceptance. For those of you who already miss the boys. The cartoon is dynamic, interesting, adjusted to the modern framework of cinema and multiculture, but also has its own number of disadvantages. Everything in order.
There is no exposure in the spirit of a radioactive spider bite or serum injection. Immediately from the first series, the demonstration of attacking villains and the protection of the planet's guardians. Brutal, bloody, dynamic. In the world of superheroes, the main protagonist is a schoolboy Mark Grayson, whose father is the strongest superhero on Earth - Omniman. The cartoon maneuvers between the fights of supers and the ordinary life of a schoolboy. Again, the main superhero theme is shown, and the reaction of others.
The intrigue lies in the fact that, naturally, Mark at the hormonal level should change – this throws the character into the hero of “romcoms” and teenage tapes. And also, fatal events for a squad of good people, when the viewer sees the culprit, and the characters begin to get lost in guesses - interesting. There is a lot of blood, cruel meat, tolerant approach, and the detective genre is already starting to spin gears. The questions of why and why set the tone for the whole story. Some secondary lines take the palm of attention, thus expanding the existing world.
We see the development of a schoolboy who tries to get along with his fears, new abilities, at the same time put himself in the face of a guy, build relationships and give account of his actions. But the animated series is modest in drawing. Maybe it's not that important, but why is the school just a hallway with lockers? Why is the hero not drawn in the subsequent shots: in one episode he has blood all over his face, the next frame Mark is absolutely clean, and then again all face in blood?
The movie also makes Invincible too stupid. From the first episode, it becomes clear who his father is and how he lives, but the guy does not know anything and does not want to understand. One can cite his disinterest, his indifference, his puberty, but when Mark is just beginning to engage in the activities of a superhero, the basics are unknown to him at all. Mistakes, mistakes that could be avoided, especially the guy reads comics, sees what is happening with his own eyes, if he does not want to talk to his father, then let him open the pages of the comic book - no. We will play the fool, making a surprised look at the consequences of heroism and be horrified by what is happening.
Having omitted stupidity and lack of logic (the guy in space without a spacesuit, then he urgently needed an oxygen helmet after the layers of the atmosphere, then he fights with an alien on the moon without a hint of life support), the cartoon catches his tone. Featuring initially a key antagonist, the series features a variety of supporting characters. Works out some villains, creates an intrigue of a secret alliance, focuses on young teenage superheroes who are also not deprived of problems and complexes. Adult rating pays off not only in thrash and dismemberment, but also in dialogues, sharp topics and jokes.
When you learn the details of the initial act, the series quickly picks up the tone. Only 8 episodes, which will please action, arguments and fights, also presented humanism, acceptance of the alter ego. The eternal problem of young supers – personal life or heroism? The cartoon refers to both Spider-Man and the Guardians, and to the same Boys – put together good elements. Interesting shows the acceptance of abilities and demonstration of team work. This is not the coordinated work of the Avengers, it is conflicts, disputes, hamstrings and self-irony. It is done with taste and taste.
The key truth of the plot was inspired by the first series, but under the finale the atmosphere is so heated that you catch pleasant messages and see the change of characters: some for the better, others for the worse. J.K. Simmons voices Omniman. A superhero even looks like old Jameson. As a result, it is a pleasant pastime that gives the necessary realism and drive energy. But if you raise the age rating, insist on the truth of heroism, then you should pay attention to the work on the character and his thoughts.
A retelling of Taras Bulba on behalf of Andriy by an American feminist
I’ll start with spoilers, although it’s more of a short story. But you have to.
Old (Jesus age) Cossack Taras ' Omnimen' Bulba arrives in the colony with savages on the orders of the Empire. In place of all the savages, he chooses not a superbaba (which would be logical, since breeding is respected by normal imperials), not even a woman with similar imperial views or at least a similar phenotype. No. 'Omni-#39; Bulba marries an Asian immigrant who will never share his values, raise a worthy heir, and the heiresses will associate themselves with migrants and mestizos all their lives. Next, our Taras Omnimenovich completely scores on his rag son, not instilling his values and traditions, calmly watching his son hang out with the American Party Policy, embodied in cardboard: a gay friend, an African-American girl. And then this Taras wonders why this son is not on the side of his father, the emperor and the colonizer. Well, at the end ' Omnimen' does not take out ' I begot you, I have you and'
It would have been a tragedy like Gogol (only more cardboard and in superhero themes), if not for the series ' but' related to the Party Policy.
First and worst ' but' - all characters who are not ' progressive ' in line with the agenda, reduced to the level of morons. For example, the above-described ' Omnimen' Bulba, who did everything to create an opponent for himself. Or the father ' Diamond Eve' who is just a caricatured conservative clerk, portrayed as an idiot not for humor, but solely for the purpose of dehumanizing opponents of Party Politics. And then there's the smart know-it-all who, because of the authors' rejection of intellectual superiority, is also dehumanized, but in a maniac vivisector. Well, like another school bully, which will be discussed below.
The second point is closely related to the first – degenerates with ' wrong' views are needed so that the tolerant forces of the beaver smear them with contemptuous spit.
In the first episode, the situation is that the stereotypical stupid bad guy bully stereotypically molests the girl. But there are nuances. A girl of African-American color, a 'bad' has a light pigmentation of everything. 'Plohish' says that her girlfriend chatted and he thinks that the girl likes him, what he gets almost a mat with a harassment agenda, and when he is outraged by such an inadequately aggressive reaction, he is outraged with the dumbest phrase ' Are you, a lesbian?' And he immediately rushes with fists 'hero' who, literally ' can't just look at it' After an inadequate 'hero' gets rebuffed, 'bad' flies back on bells from an African-American woman and 'bad', the whimper of a slouched dog escapes after this kick. Should we talk about the realism of this papier-mache? ' Diamond Eve' generally chooses legs about her dehumanized father and in three days becomes the best superhero thanks to ' Progressive' (the rest of the world's superstars are made dumber).
Well, and the last cardboard idiot under the yoke of author's arbitrariness - ' invincible' Andriy Bulba. Any adequate person would prefer to live as a superman among superhumans, or at least for the sake of appearance would agree. But not 'hero' for in a tolerant post-colonial country, the Party's policy condemns colonialism. Therefore, cardboard reality is warped, turning Taras ' Omnimena' Bulba into an idiot.
In short, this is an amateurish superhero gum made of cardboard, a subpoena, with condemnation of everything is not enough ' Progressive' - Netflix fans will do. Oh, yes, there's blood, guts and other garbage to make a stupid kid admire ' adulthood' and ' courage' of this material.
In general, you can see, for lovers of the theme of superheroes. But if your inner world is a little more difficult, do not waste time on this series.
Showrunners are a lot of twists and turns, but like most American shows, twists and turns for twists. There is no point in looking for depth or psychology, there is no point. Heroes are ugly cardboard, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for screenwriters to create interesting situations within the framework of the theme of American bipolar heroism.
Directing is average, it probably expressed in series of 40 minutes, but with content for a standard 20 minutes. It was always surprising how you can drag out a scene in a cartoon, but this happens often.
Characters are just bad, in 2021, after 100,500 adaptations of comics, we are entertained by another guy in latex with a standard set of superpowers and complexes. Both father and son caused an unpleasant impression rather than any sympathy.
Animation - qualitatively, very reminiscent of the classic Spider-Man, but for adults.
As a result, we have a qualitative attempt to return to the classic animation about superheroes, but only suitable for those who are nostalgic for pants over pants and other mandatory attributes of superpower. If we consider it as an independent work of art, it is rather a failure.
Any series of the invulnerable is built on the same structure: +-10 minutes of the plot and +-10 minutes of a relatively cool flyman with blood and +-20 minutes of weak exposures and character development. It seems that cruelty and shock content are the only distinguishing features of the invulnerable against the backdrop of dozens of other comics.
All the conflicts presented here have already been made better elsewhere. Here, (except for the main line, which is something between Spider-Man (only worse) and Man of Steel (only better)), everything is just boring and essentially ends with nothing (and some storylines are just the seed for the next 25 seasons of the hike, since no one remembers them at all until the very end).
Character designs are of course fun, such random, diverse, but you can not go far on this either, and in places they use their forces to a minimum (especially Eve).
The animation is sometimes lame, and in some epic battles it seems as if they forgot to add a couple of soundtracks with the sounds of destruction. The music in the background is sometimes disgusting. But all these are just unpleasant little things.
In general, just a normal cartoon, remarkable only for blood and matuches.
Not so long ago ended the first season of the series “Invulnerable”. Amazon studio has recently been tightly hooked on the adaptation of comics about superheroes. Two years ago, we saw “The Boys”, which very quickly gained fame thanks to a competent script, at the same time a beautiful and “terrible” action and a high-quality script. The bosses of the studio, seeing the success of "Boys", thought, "Is it possible to shoot also, only in the form of animation?" The choice fell on the famous (and in some countries the most famous and popular) comic about a young guy who learns that his father is not just a man, but an alien with superhuman abilities, who arrived from another galaxy for an important mission. The original comic was written by Robert Kirkman, who previously created The Walking Dead.
In the era of such big giants as DC Films and Marvel Studios, superhero movies and TV series no longer surprise anyone, you need something new, but at the same time interesting. “Invulnerable” shows how to do animated superheroics: with blood, violence and matuches, but for its own good, soulful and even sad. The first series smoothly tells us about the key characters of this universe, introduces the viewer to their character, tells their story and at the end of the series it seems that this is a very simple version of Superman. But the ending of the first episode sharply and irrevocably changes the tone to gloomy, cruel and merciless, and the last 2-3 episodes are continuous action, drive, sadness, joy. The series reveals the full range of human emotions when you both hate the hero and adore him. Even minor characters in the series are spelled out perfectly (for example, the Clone Brothers). You believe them, you empathize with them, you grow up with them.
I didn’t like the drawing in the series very much. If you discard the cruelty, which is, of course, a very strong component of the entire animated series, then you get the feeling that you are watching a cartoon of the middle of zero. Yes, you can all refer to the comic, but the comic began to appear in 2003 from the publishing house, which at that time did not have a huge financial base.
The plot of the animated series, although simple as twice two, but still the viewer is interested in watching it, as it attracts, helps to distract, think about the value of life. The plot tells a banal story of the relationship between “fathers and children”, which translates into something more.
Summing up, it is worth saying that “Invulnerable” in places parody in a ridiculous manner the most popular comics about superheroes. The creators managed to perfectly combine cruelty, violence and drama, which together produce a powerful animated series about the formation of a superhero. I give the series an 8 out of 10. The universe has a huge potential that will only be revealed in the future.
“Amazon loves money and violence, so it’s going to have a powerful second season and make some spin-offs.”
Like a marvel, but with blood. And that's not a compliment.
Seriously, we've had guys who turned the superhero genre upside down for someone with their humor, their cruelty, and their satire. Indeed, the boys, for all their caution in humor and disclosure of the topic (caution is understandable, leftist movements will not forgive) see a potential that could be revealed and even partially revealed. But what we see in this cartoon is a typical representative of modern comic books, who diligently tries to be something else.
Trying badly. Very bad. Having adopted all the problems of the same marvel, like a dead world, which does not care about what happens to it, the amorphous population and the zero value of heroic achievements, invulnerable or invincible, or call it what you want, the character still adds any of his shoals that destroy this series even as an independent work.
Let's start simple. Timekeeping. In the recent animated film, it was missing, for 20 minutes for 8 episodes, a lot of things happened that overstated the dynamics. Almost nothing happens in 40 minutes. Everyone wants to be involved, but it turns out to be a blank. At the same time, it is clear that the creators, having stuffed unnecessary scenes and storylines, are in a wild hurry somewhere, without revealing, let’s say, the human side of the story. The love line, for example, is formed in 2 scenes (you could joke that feminists for love is enough to draw attention to them at least once, but it will be too rude, although you really want to joke).
Plot. He's just nothing. Villains in the series are unsolved, storylines can break at their very beginning, and some decisions are not at all clear what was made. If the creators moved a couple of moments to another season, it would be much better. And to the denouement and specifically the last series comes such a parade of absurdity that it is difficult to believe that you are not watching a Marvel or a superhero film by Zack Snyder.
But most of all, the character of J.K. Simmons was disappointed. Whoever created the biggest intrigue has slid down to an absolutely stupid and talentlessly written character, just worthy of Marvel or Snyder's superhero. And he was more disappointed than anyone else because he is the only real character who also changes for a reason or somewhere behind the scenes. The main character suffers from such things. The rest of the characters here are absolutely uninteresting or cause you either irritation or make you beat your head on the table from the stupidity of their actions.
Both here and in the plot point I would like to write more, but I am afraid to spoiler, since important turns seem to be a lot, but their implementation leaves much to be desired.
Blood and violence. The only thing that distinguishes this cartoon from other superheroes, except the same guys. But let's be honest. Who can impress with blood in a movie, or even more so in a 2D cartoon? There's a lot of that blood here, yes, but it just acts as a hallmark that we're serious here, not like the Marvels with their PG-13 people are dying here. True, the concept of the same marvels used in the series that nobody cares what happens adds to this whole blood parade only more inconclusive.
Animation. I don't know, maybe they don't give much money to cartoons right now, but it looks very cheap. I saw such a performance in the cartoon incredible man - the spider of 2008, only here sometimes use 3D, which is also the most low-quality. The eye, of course, does not cut, but sometimes caught himself thinking that it would be better to strain and film with live actors.
The agenda. Here everything is classic, twisting the canons, gay friends, the girl of the protagonist sharply blackened and other beautiful things that we are not tired of. Well, it would not play a role in the plot well, or at least remained somewhere very far away on the periphery, but in one of the series you are directly poked something in the face, which causes unpleasant emotions.
Over. What masquerades as ' I’m not a Marvel' actually uses the concept of Marvel, but adds its stupid plot, which slides into farce very quickly, quite cheap technical performance, no development (some series, if you think about it, you can just throw out, nothing will change) and everyone’s favorite propaganda of new Western values. I don't recommend watching at all. Better to see the same guys, there you can find something worthwhile. 2 out of 10 just for an interesting start.
Deconstruction of superheroics blossomed around the Renaissance years of the genre. Of course, it all started in the '80s and Alan Moore, but Robert Kirkman came in early. The man who created the comic book series, and now a full-fledged animated series called Invincible.
It would seem that Kirkman mixed here all sorts of elements from superhero works: the formation of a hero, multiple parodies of characters from other universes, local S.H.I.E.L.D., incessant attacks on cities. But out of this mix somehow a real pearl was born.
First, the plot is mainly focused on Mark Grayson, a boy who has just gained his powers. He is the son of the local Superman, a native of the planet Wiltrum: he does not drown in water, does not burn in fire, does not catch bullets. He plays Peter Parker, trying to find the perfect work-life balance. But everything goes far not according to plan: what exactly - you will know for yourself.
Over eight episodes, the series covers many topics: problems of choice, misunderstanding of fathers and children, conspiracies, the search for one’s own identity. At the same time, all the identified issues are fully disclosed. In my opinion, 'Invulnerable' just perfectly written.
Of course, the eye is pleased with the animation: ten years ago you could say that there is nothing unusual here. But now, at the time of all kinds of animation experiments, high-quality two-dimensional animation is perceived as a revelation. Nothing superfluous: bright colors, good work with perspective. Especially animators managed superhero battles: dynamic, juicy, filled with colors and cruel details.
Yes, another feature of this bright work: most of the series is simply covered with blood. This is an excellent solution because it adds some realism. And even metaphorical.
'Invulnerable' is one of the best superhero works of all time. I am glad that such beauty happened on the territory of streaming services. Now Amazon is such an impregnable citadel of all unorthodox superheroics.
In the supermarket of the film industry, there is little new to come up with in the department ' Superheroes' - there are regular customers, there is some chance to lure someone from neighboring departments, but there is no chance to lure all buyers here. What do those who produce the most ordinary product, which will stand on the shelf among hundreds of boxes of absolutely different, but in fact quite the same product?
You can fill it up with advertising, and then maybe people who came for something else will come to the department for a change. But it can’t be a long-term strategy – people won’t fall for it a second time. So you have to count on your audience, but the trouble is that she already knows everything, saw everything, and usually takes from the shelf what suited her last time. You have to do some tricks.
Having groped with the help of ' Boys' that line of violence and unusualness beyond which people began to return to superheroes, Amazon decided in ' Invulnerable' cut off a fly from a pistol with the inscription ' Violence' Therefore, it is better not to look further into the review if you have an impressionable nature. At your own risk.
In this series in unequal proportions mixed teenage-college simplicity (but not beyond stupidity), the mundane presence of superheroes around people, and ultra-hardcore graphic violence. The last element is perhaps fundamental.
Violence here is exactly the unhealthy level that parents imagine, who are frightened by the fact that there is violence in cartoons. This was not the case even in 'Gantz'. I was pushed to this series by a cube (coub), in which the local superman in seconds turns the local Batman into a picture on the wall worthy of Pollock. Teeth hammered into the throat, garlands from the intestines, the brain softly oozing through the fingers - this is the norm of life (death?). And it's logical -- when someone has super-power, why should they contain themselves? And when it becomes boring just to tear everyone apart, a really creative approach comes to the rescue, and here, of course, I want to applaud standing by those unhealthy minds who invented it (guidelines - Jigsaw, Seven, Gantz).
At the same time, without this ultraviolence, everything else would not look so beautiful in contrast - these pastoral sketches about the maturation of superheroes, about their first loves, first flights, the first villains with random open jaw fractures ... It's all so cute! Well, their parents look after the heroes, and, of course, Big Brother, who spends quadrillions of dollars on restful sleep and zombification of taxpayers. To the level of real comedy series local self-irony and satire, of course, do not reach, but within the genre they are beautiful. Of course, this can not be considered outside the categories of comics and compared with ' ordinary', ' normal' films, but precisely within the framework of its genre ' Invulnerable' definitely deserves
8 out of 10
Mixture 'Boys', 'Sin City', 'American Psychopath' and 'Smallville's Mystery' whipped to a state 'Bloody Mary' of blood, crusts of teeth, and decorating a glass from a piece of ear.
This is a brazen overstimulation of violence in the brain. Which, besides, under-reveals the jokes of the original comic, and in general - defames us before aliens. Shame on you to do that, uh, shame. Terrible. I'm looking forward to season two and three!
I think no one will deny that comic book adaptations and various superhero projects have long become one of the main strata of modern cinema. At the same time, the number of new representatives of the genre is only growing from year to year. But at the same time, creating such conditions, when it is possible to surprise new and special authors of these very works with anything. The author of the first comic book and showrunner of this series Robert Kirkman definitely succeeded.
The plot of this film revolves around the usual at first glance 17-year-old American teenager Mark Grayson, whose father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Soon, incredible power and abilities appear in Mark himself. He decides to be as protective of humanity as his father. Learning all the weights of a superhero life. Without even knowing that his father is far from what he wants to appear at first glance.
It’s no secret that “Invulnerable” was originally created with an eye on a feature film. However, the serial format suited him more than perfectly. Having received an impressive timing of eight episodes, the authors of this series received enough maneuver not only to reveal the characters of the main characters, but also the whole story. The last two episodes can be considered a real work of art with the most powerful human drama of Mark and his father. Showing such a strong passion and level of drama, the likes of which I personally have not seen for quite a long time. In the animation format, especially.
Attracting the author of the source to write the script adaptation of his own work almost always does not end well. But Robert Kirkman’s Invulnerable is definitely one of these rare and at the same time glaring exceptions. It is commendable that Kirkman did not “literally” transfer his work to the wide screen. On the one hand, transferring all the events of your work as accurately as possible (with an eye to future seasons). On the other hand, bringing some changes to the history in favor of cinematic simplification.
Of course, I would like to see Invulnerable in the format of a large-budget blockbuster. Especially in the context of the last two episodes and the madness of the series. However, it is also worth admitting that the animated series format suited him more than perfectly. Since transferring all that madness and cruelty with fountains of blood, crushed heads, torn human limbs and inside-out innards without censorship would be simply impossible. In this case, we have the most honest and worthy adaptation of a really strong source with extremely bold, hooligan and extreme directing and animation. That for our time is a rarity and even nonsense. Even against the background of "Boys."
One of the main advantages of the series should also be noted simply amazing work with the characters both at the level of excellent voice acting of a truly star cast, and at the level of decent work of the writers. Especially in the context of Nolan Grayson, who turned out to be the most complex and at the same time interesting character. Willingly causing sympathy, pity and self-loathing at the same time.
10 out of 10
Invulnerable is definitely one of the rare examples of a truly worthy adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s stunning work. Robert Kirkman and the production team of the series managed to create a damn interesting and absolutely exciting series, which willingly pleases both the most powerful drama and extremely bold “adult” content with an abundance of crushed heads, ripped off human limbs and inside out intestines. I highly recommend it. Otherwise, you lose a lot of money.
In an era when comic book adaptations have become the norm, you can’t just make a regular movie or series, you need a new sound and a fresh look at the beaten patterns about the characters. Invulnerable easily falls into this category.
Mark Grayson is on the path of inevitable changes in his life, soon he must acquire superpowers, like his father, the most powerful hero on Earth. Mark will have to combine personal, school and superhero life, finding a shaky balance in this.
The first episode, like the synopsis, follows a well-trodden path, gradually describing the characters of the characters, their abilities and life. All this is colorful, dynamic, but has been told countless times. The final of the first series completely changes the rules of the game and sets the tone for the whole season. The series begins to reveal, the action gets bloodier, the stakes go up. The last two episodes are one of the best endings I've seen lately.
Thanks to the animation, the creators were able to implement action scenes close to the original, with the necessary scale and level of violence. Staging fights is visually inventive, you feel the blows, behind them there is weight and a dramatic core. With each new episode, the series skillfully whipps up intrigue, setting the hero moral dilemmas and obstacles, from which he does not always emerge as a winner. The creators built the concept of the series in such a way that each of the characters can die, no one is safe.
The level of blood and cruelty here, of course, is skyrocketing. The violence is not caricatured and is kept on edge so as not to slide into an already frank thrash. In the setting of the series, this works just fine, complementing the context of contractions and the depth of their consequences. Such scenes balance a kind of humor. For example, the appearance of titles in each series.
The characters of the series are bright and memorable, each one somehow received a realized story arc, despite the fact that the main emphasis was made on revealing the characters of the father and son. It is desirable to watch the series in the original, since a whole scatter of stars participated in the voiceover.
"Invulnerable" will obviously be compared to "The Boys": an R rating, violence and blood, a gray morality, an unconventional view of superheroics. But both series go in completely different directions. “Boys” is more inclined to satire through the prism of superheroes, “Invulnerable”, in turn, tells a larger story with completely different accents, giving the plot more psychological.
It turned out boldly, briskly and with soul. The series has been renewed two seasons in advance, which is great news. This universe has enormous potential and a sea of possibilities to evolve in any direction. It’s an engaging and engaging story that doesn’t look back when something unpleasant happens on screen and works within the framework of that realism.
Amazon picked up the trends and decided to take two chairs in one superhero project. The first chair is the answer to the series "Boys", but in an animated form. The second chair is to move directly the animated projects 18+ “Harley Quinn” and “MODOC”.
The animation allowed to spin violent scenes to the maximum. At the same time, the style of drawing resembles the projects of the 90s, which plays on nostalgia even for Russian viewers.
The story itself is extremely predictable, as one-to-one duplicates the most famous DC and Marvel comics. The characters are almost completely written off from them. There are local Superman, local Justice League, young superheroes, even aliens from Mars. And the plot ' and what if Superman goes crazy' We saw this in 'Boys' and in DC.
For a viewer who is not familiar with comic books, but who likes movies with a high age rating, the series will love. But its secondary can alienate viewers familiar with the genre.
I’ll be comparing all the superhero content, so don’t be outraged.
Such animated series cause wild delight, inspire hope that all filmmaking is not yet dead. Why in our time animation adaptation is much superior in terms of quality and presentation, many films and TV series. Yes, everything is simple, space is more, there is no intention to capture as much as possible the mass of the audience and please ' wretched', everything goes unforced and ideologically, with a good narrative structure, in a word, there is no such pressure.
Now, this kind of product is a breath of fresh air, because against the background of the rest of the Dushnilov, it seems something new, although almost everything should be similar. There is no need to talk about R-rating, although this is also one of the most important factors in such a product.
I don’t think I’m the only one who is sick of sidab series, of Marvel movies, and in other ways DC, although with the latter is controversial, since Snyder also showed even a controversial product, but nevertheless not standard, without propaganda of anything, without biases. With Marvel’s storytelling and ocultorization course, everything is clear. As far as WB/DC is concerned, it’s all unpromising. We can only hope for 'Boys' and similar adaptations like 'Invulnerable'.
Of course, you won’t see anything new here. All the same characters with whom it is easy to draw parallels and analogies. Like we've all seen, Omniman the same soup, Martian here, Martian there, same Batman, only black and on ' surf' But if you look at which direction the narrative goes and how it develops, then interest and curiosity will ignite. Yes, some ' fanboys' will start pouring this creation with sludge, without understanding and without looking further, operating with such arguments that this is plagiarism and nothing interesting here. It is worth saying that there is a great animation, great action, a lot of blood (for connoisseurs of this kind of fetishism), a rather interesting plot, although not the main advantage, but still a passable can not be called, interesting.
Well, we can summarize that at this point in time it is worth devoting more time to animation products of this kind. Still, the experience of recent film adaptations should first look at such interesting projects. To compare the same MK revenge of Scorpio and the film, here in my opinion everything is very clear in which direction the bowls outweigh. So with a similar project and the latest series from the mouse house and WB is the same parallel and the result is obvious.
It's just a comic book story, which is why it's 8 points. To summarize these works, imagine DC and Marvel showing the murders. And that's all in principle.
Plot. The story is inconceivably simple as 2+2. And in the process of all the events, we are shown the confrontation of 2 completely different lives: an alien and earthlings, which is quite interesting.
On the plus side, I'll note the drawing. It is chic, the background of modern down-tauns is very, very qualitatively drawn. The scenes of flying over the city are remembered. The drawing is clearly better compared to the brothers in the workshop, including DC and Marvel.
The soundtrack is not good.
The main advantage is the characters. Very well written and worked out, even villains, such as Gemini and Clay. I want to highlight Omni me, you can say that he is the main character.
And now about the minuses
The main characters do not die at all, as usual.
Plot. Of course, history will be a minus. This is an ordinary comic book story, where the level of strength of villains and heroes will grow algebraically.
In general, I recommend a couple of seasons will last, no more than 3. And preferably look in the subtitles, when localizing a lot is lost.
Recently, a new animated series “Invincible” was released. It is interesting because the script was created by Robert Kirkman, the author of The Walking Dead.
Ordinary people have a hard time – their cities are constantly attacked. That’s real, every minute the portal opens and aliens with guns rod from there.
If it weren’t for the superheroes, the world would have been destroyed. But with superheroes, things aren’t going well – it seems that some of them aren’t what they’re trying to seem. And they can barely do it.
If you love The Boys, I recommend this movie. It is tough, but it is well diluted with black humor. If in "Boys" superheroes were corporate scoundrels, then they are more like cannon fodder - supers are trying to plug every crack from where evil climbs to Earth and their strength is barely enough.
The only thing you need to do is watch the first series to the end. There will be a cardinal revolution of the plot, which will determine the entire future narrative of the series.
In the series, there is a cool character – Damien Darkblood – a demon detective who escaped from hell to restore justice on Earth. Each appearance of this character is a real celebration. It reminds me of Colombo.
Kirkman finished his comic book with a total of 144 stories, the last in 2018. I hope that the series will come to the audience and it will be renewed for many more seasons. Judging by the rating and reviews, it will be.
