Everyone’s favorite director did not like to waste time on the press – he did not find any sense in generating “vital” phrases that descendants will disassemble for quotes. And in general, interpreting the hidden meanings of his tapes is not his specialty. Only once did he get in touch with an authoritative French critic whose article captured his attention. It was Michelle Seaman. The director talked to him and suggested he make a big exception. In 1980, Seaman published a book-interview with Stanley Kubrick and a monograph about his work - in fact, they became the basis of the documentary by Gregory Monroe.
