A satirical tragicomedy about the baseness of human nature.
Ugh. I don’t know how to evaluate such films. This is not something you would recommend to friends or anyone. But there is definitely artistic value, so attention is still worth paying, albeit at your own risk.
For me personally, from a director’s point of view, the film was a discovery. The artistic methods used in the painting, especially the second chapter, are striking. Radu Jude carried out a delicate work to create a bright and structural image-associative series in the minds of the audience. There's only one catch. About half of those who try to understand Bad Sex will stop taking the film seriously after the opening scene, and some will stop watching it altogether. The question is, why make such an impassable filter, weeding out the unprepared? Okay, "Serbian Film" or the same "Green Elephant", there is no claim to high film art and the Berlin Film Festival. And here it was as if they deliberately tried to get out of their comfort zone in order to shake up old film critics and judges sitting in their red velvet chairs. In general, such a provocation somewhat resembled a beaten reception with a bag of kittens and a river. It works, but it's not respected. If we return to the division of chapters, then I note how smoothly the logic and development of the message by the author flows from one part to another. But in terms of directing, the first chapter was not particularly appreciated. Long plans of a living city (some passers-by even waved to the camera), focus on individual places and wanderings of the main character clearly carried some symbol, I missed. In general, the picture looks diverse and pleasant.
According to the cast, there are no special options for somehow highlighting a specific performance, because the message of the film and the methods used strongly shade the act. Just to say that most of the scenes looked very natural and did not leave a negative impression.
The script, as has been noted many times before, is full of all possible images and interpretations. Personally, I saw arguments about the baseness of human nature and a kind of spit in the face of the hypocritical morality of modern society. What impressed me the most was how elegant the basic idea was. It is not splashed with hot boiling water in the face, and lightly inflated with a silk fan. This style of storytelling allows everyone to look at the film in their own way and at the same time creates interest when watching. Something akin to the process of finding an answer to a riddle.
Unusual. I can't put "Bad Sex" on any list or give it a numerical score. That's why it's a festival movie. But I would like to say that I personally like to unravel such abstract tangles.
The most disgusting film, watching which gives you the level of European values.
At the Berlin Film Festival, which was held in absentia, this creation received the main prize, although there was nothing to look at, and a couple of witty hints and sound proposals did not bring anything new. For the Russian audience, the paintings of modern Romania lost their relevance 15 years ago, when the remnants of the crisis of the 90s ceased to remind themselves. In Romania, a similar crisis right now, and even the status of an EU country gives it nothing but the dominance of foreign brands in the market, especially American ones. The first part of the film just shows that the brands are sponsors for boutiques and cafes to such an extent that their name overshadows the advertising of the brand. Clearly shown property inequality, harassment of men on the street, where in the wrong place parked in a provincial warehouse people for whom the car is an extension of the home sofa. Only from the monuments it is clear that the film takes place in the Romanian capital Bucharest. Crisis Russia is reminiscent of markets and tents in the film, torn posters, places with slot machines. The city is still a Soviet building, and its own historical monuments are ruins grilled with careless graffiti. Something tells me that every post-Soviet country that considered the power of the liberals to be salvation looks so miserable.
The explanation of the meditative demonstration of dusty streets indirectly gives the second part of the film, which claims to be a reference book. The handbook reminds the Russian viewer how, during the crisis years, liberal propaganda persuaded that European Nazism was the same as communism, a type of totalitarianism. Europe is still absorbed in this illusion of aggressive anti-communism to appeal to the unconscious, described in the handbook anecdote about a European with a dysfunction of the right hand – it did not move. The only thing that triggered her movement was the greeting "Heil, Hitler!" Romania saw its fate as an appendage of either side, but since joining the winner was simply a combination of historical circumstances, it was its own free choice to turn to the EU. The handbook recalls for some incomprehensible reason the murder of Jews and Roma by Einsatzgruppen in Simferopol, says that the Germans who carried out orders were far from politics, and therefore immoral ... about the important role of the Romanian army in establishing order in a free country where you can beat anyone, while in neighboring Hungary you can not. The political theme goes in parallel with the sexual: on the fifth page of the most popular newspaper published photos of naked women in a domestic setting, and the most popular request in the network is pornographic. At the same time, the topic of domestic violence and the justification of violence by the appearance of a woman is raised. The word “justification” the reference suggests to refer to the concept of “destination”. This is a very clear picture.
The third part finally returns to the story. The teacher of the Nikifor Krajnik school is experiencing psychological pressure from democratic forces who want to see the standard of morality in anyone but herself. In this part, the whole point is only that the school is a totalitarian institution that carries out symbolic violence against the child in order to establish relations with the authorities. In a democratic country, this is nonsense, but there is nothing wrong with it, because public opinion is created by propaganda. It is no coincidence that Nikifor Krajnik is a Romanian Nazi propagandist, and the poet Eminescu, mentioned in the film, is almost the hero and embodiment of Romania. It is clear that democracy here defeats and destroys an impeccable teacher who can effectively teach any subject and build productive connections with students. The headmistress’ masked inscription “I am God” hints that democracy and nationalist reflexes of European consciousness killed God in Europe. By the way, in the directory, the church choir sings glorification to the fascists.
From all these descriptions of meanings, it may seem that the film is deep and even relevant. Moreover, it has such trifles as references of a librarian: in one he talks about the relevance of an anthology of autoepitaphs of residents of a provincial town from Edgar Lee Masters during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in another he advises to turn to the work of Charles Reznikoff, who, incidentally, wrote poems from testimony in American court cases and testimony from the Nuremberg trials. And I think these books are interesting and clever, unlike this film, which is more like a KVN performance and no more than one of the expressions of folklore, about which the directory of the film itself speaks as proof of the stupidity of the people. Another proof of stupidity is the degradation of sexual interactions to oral caresses, as it returns to the early stage of psychosexual development and distorts it. The film seems to try to justify sex in comparison with other European values - Nazi-anti-communism, the LGBT movement, skepticism about the Church and science, encouraging personal degradation by understanding freedom as the permissibility of natural humanity, which itself is always ugly. For an Orthodox country, this is the ultimate shame.
And Ham saw the nakedness of his father, and went out and told his two brothers. Gen. 9:20-27
While the factories of domestic cinema habitually dispose of prehistoric recyclables, the Romanians again reflect on the themes of modernity. Publicity of the network and issues of public morality. Liberal reading. That's funny. If, of course, literally close your eyes to porn.
However, stories about compromising in the form of candid footage / video seem to be getting old. This has become banal, and society is quite conciliatory. But! There are also cement spheres: the state apparatus, the school, the church... The hapless heroine of the frivolous amateur struggles just at school. That is why she does not get away with this prank, alas.
Speaking of church. Attacks on religious bigotry started the French Revolution. After all, its forerunner was the godless Rousseau, who so witty and convincingly condemned the falsity reigning in society and other “unnaturalness”. Rousseau became the idol of Robespierre, who sent under the knife the guillotines of thousands of fellow citizens, including former friends. To him all this (including the falling knife) seemed reasonable and therefore justified.
The film also appeals to nature and reason in liberal traditions. No edification or hand wringing. Very artistic, cinematic. A panorama of vain and imperfect life in a sloppy, sloppy city, thoroughly saturated with rudeness, rudeness and sexism. Against this background, the claims against the teacher, with her innocent home (and even family) porn look petty and fake. But sanctimonies do not sleep.
From the point of view of reason and apology of nature, everything looks like this. However, the paradox of civilization is that with the triumph of “reason” Sapiens begins to be beast. If God is dead, everything is possible.
Yes, the heroine is sympathetic. Desperately defending what is not forbidden by law. We rarely have the enthusiasm to do this. And yet she's blunt. In what does not understand, does not feel some things, which are difficult to describe from the standpoint of the “enlightened mind”. Or do you think the biblical Noah cursed his son Ham for staring at him naked? No, no, a fairy tale is a lie, but in it a hint ...
Solid tightness is reliable, but boring. Liberalism is witty, but it shakes the foundations. But the director doesn't look for balance. He is charged, has a great command of the film language and is certainly persuasive. Within its paradigm. It is as if he does not notice that the liberal current is tearing him down strongly to the left. And sometimes it nails to the very edge. And it was unpleasant.
“Mad adult cinema” became famous all over the world thanks to the triumphant victory at the Berlin Film Festival. The original film has a bolder title. So bold that its very mention threatens to limit the age range of 18+ and can cause ardent rejection among many potential viewers.
But the content of the film is much more complex and multilayered than its provocative title. Yes, in Mad Adult Movies, you’ll see close-ups that don’t even appear in most specialty films. The picture actually begins with this shocking spectacle, but does not last long. Then the audience plunges into the everyday life of Romania, where what they saw earlier is a recording of the intimate life of one of the teachers of an elite school.
The recording goes online. Of course, all colleagues and students quickly learn about its existence. The teacher goes to a meeting with worried parents.
If Mad Adult Movies were made in Hollywood, it would be a funny tragicomedy. If it were shot by representatives of the author’s cinema in any of the countries of the world, it would be a very harsh gloomy criticism of modern society. But this film was shot in Romania - in a country where the "new wave" of cinema reigns. Therefore, this film is a deep critical analysis of the stalemate of today’s Romanian society, presented as the inevitable result of previous social, historical and political mistakes.
A third of Mad Adult Movie is not about a teacher or her conversation with colleagues and parents. A third of the film consists of brief sketches about various phenomena and historical facts, reflecting the contradictory nature of morality, according to which Romania and the whole world are arranged. For example, the creators of the film recall the real fact about the hostilities: The soldiers were given the task to destroy the village. They very quickly and effectively coped with the task, as they were in a hurry to return to celebrate Christmas.
Alexander Blok wrote in his diary: "The sinking of the Titanic made me very happy yesterday - there is still an ocean." . .
Mad Adult Movie is a deceptive film. From his brief announcement you can expect that you will see a raging gathering, where the topic of morality and morality will be dissected. Yes, it is in the tape, but the meeting itself is very calm. The director and screenwriter of the film - Radu Jude - does not try to put us before a moral choice and does not try to prove anything to us. He calmly and mundanely shows us that our values, our morality, are something deeply immoral and fundamentally wrong. Modern society is dialectical in everything. Luxury restaurants coexist with crumbling buildings in the middle of the city center. Expensive cars drive through dug-out streets with no parking space. And we ourselves are examples of immorality, stupidity and bigotry, easily taking as a norm what is not the norm.
Crazy Movie for Adults ends as boldly and as provocatively as it begins. In fact, it does not represent any dilemma about the moral character of a modern teacher. But this film serves as an unpleasant slap in the face to every viewer who wants to be curious and watch it. Quite an unexpected and vivid film experience.
Ordinary porn with disgusting pitches and ideas that upend family values. Our opinion is 1, although in fact it would be minus 10. They also managed to push the festival as a comedy and drama. . .
This creation is the product of the Romanian festival director on the topic of personal freedom, emancipation, privacy rights, the fight against conservatism and hypocrisy. The general storyline about a teacher whose private video got online and now she will have an unpleasant conversation with her parents is quite suitable for those chosen by the director.
The problem for the average viewer will be that this plot actually develops only in the last third of the film. The first third is a boring, long and deliberately meaningless walk of the heroine through the Romanian cityscapes without any meaning. It’s hard to say exactly what the author wanted to convey – I’ve heard many opinions and some of them sound plausible, but it doesn’t make it easier to watch this segment of the film. The second part is a kind of dictionary with short video inserts and explanations of arbitrary words and terms - it is no less boring to watch than the first part, although there are many meanings and they can be dug up or heard from sensible film critics, but it is still impossible to watch - boring. And finally, the third and last part of the film is actually a chamber play with a meeting of parents and a kind of trial of a teacher accused of inappropriate behavior. Everything happens in one frame and is filled with replicas of characters succeeding each other - it looks more cheerful, it becomes clearer what the director wanted to say and why the first parts were. However, the segment ends quickly and the credits go, although the ending of the film is very memorable.
As a result, it turns out that it is possible to watch, not disassemble or analyze, without pain and boredom, only the final third of the film, which makes it a very controversial choice for those who want to just have fun or relax while watching. People who know what they are going to and are ready to watch such experimental films will fully appreciate and have already appreciated the film, and the average viewer should pass by. I did not get much pleasure from watching, but I understand that someone will get a lot of it.

For Romanian director Radu Jude, it feels like I wanted to film a joke. Well... That's what happened.
The plot is quite simple and for today is very relevant: the teacher decides to shoot her own sex with her husband, then the laptop is given for repair and the video leaks to the network. Her students recognize her and begin to watch. Parents are also watching... Well, you've heard it on the news.
The film consists of three parts and looks more like a film adaptation of the play: the first part - the heroine walks around Bucharest and the place where she goes is provided with a long address plan, argues with drivers and discusses the situation with friends. The second part: a kind of encyclopedia, consisting of terms that appear in the third part. The third: a pure play - a parental meeting with the teacher's sculpting, which ends with an orgy ... in one of the options.
What's a good movie? Not much. This is an author's film with a twist on non-author's. Burlesque is pure. Address plans are as heavy as Tarkovsky. But why is it in the movie? If they were shortened, 10 minutes would be shortened. The third part is a play, almost absurd. The second is informative only in the sense that the female sexual organ in Russian and Romanian sound the same. That is, to turn an anecdote into an author's film - boldly, but not up to it.
The only good thing about the film is that the director decided to sanctify the quarantine: the characters wear masks, swear if she slipped. Well, the situation with the posted videos and photos, leading to an article about pedophilia. Because of you, Madam Teacher, our children have access to child pornography. - "Where's child pornography here?" - "They were looking at your sex!" All that stuff.
Porn was called "comedy, drama" and was taken to the festival. here and radical propaganda of ideas that in its extreme segment of leftism break down on insults to other values at the cost of renouncing any of their values: "I do not want another world, I want to be against this world," postulates his position director quotes the nihilist Jean Genet. this film can not be viewed in the sense that any postmodern text is not read - it reads you. and if you read, then you lose something from this, like a library book with dirty or unexamined pages. Jude has had good movies, but this, as he says, "editing film" is not the case.
The film of the Romanian director Radu Jude - the owner of the "Golden Bear" Berlinale went far beyond thinking about how much the personal space of a person is protected in a globalized, transparent present, and showed the shortcomings of modern society in all their "beauty".
Bigotry, lies and hypocrisy, incomprehensible and ardent faith in meaningless myths and stereotypes, a complete lack of critical thinking and the desire to understand at least something. Instead, strict demands on the morality of others while condoning their own weaknesses.
The shameful instincts of the crowd, the willingness to instantly repaint and be “like everyone else”, sending their principles and beliefs far away, are not forgotten. I wish they hadn't been pushed out of this crowd. Writers and directors bring characters that are realistic and recognizable at first sight. This is quite ardent scoundrels, ordinary ordinary ordinary people, but it is not easier to contemplate their falsehood and double morality.
Of the acting work should be highlighted, of course, Katya Pascary in the main role. She perfectly conveys the desperation of her heroine, who struggles to break through this wall of stupidity, injustice and ignorance, but she is strong for her.
The film is about Romanian realities, but the problems raised are urgent for almost any country and society.

Jesus was not only a son of God, but also a good mother.
“Crazy adult movie” or “Fucking Bad or Crazy Porn” is a provocative film scratching the nerves of conservative Romanian society. The film is conditionally divided into 4 main parts with different timing:
1. Porn. A video that will become a catalyst for events.
2. Stupid. The soulfulness of this kind of society, its unforsightedness, a walk in Bucharest, anger, greed, indifference, vulgarity.
3. Origins. The most interesting part, which denotes the problem in three words, be it a clipping from a quote, statistics, anecdotes, local color, fascist shame from the past of Romania, videos from the Internet and the socialist system with Ceausescu, the hilarious sexual doctrine of the proletariat.
4. Sitcom. Denoting all the problems begins laughter, thrash and tantrums. There's a dozen absolutely rogue characters that you've met, were or are. Xenophobia, antisemitism, militarism and patriarchal prejudices are like bile torn from the lips of those who came to the parent meeting.
The end. Was that a joke? Social drama? Provocation? Yes.
The text is made in the style of the film language.
The best way to bring people together is hate.
Act I. It looks weird (except porn) if you don't like festival movies. But it demonstrates this illusion of civilization: ordinary people, streets, conversations, everyday life. We seem to be on our mind, slightly quarrel, but in general, it seems that everything is in order.
Act II. The pulp begins. This is a set of some kind of video, photos, stories, facts with which the director laughs at civilization and his country in particular (although there are many similar ones in any other). Sent with humor, although the topics are far from funny.
Act III. The cherry on the cake. Ask the crowd a controversial question, or ask someone to be sentenced, the same thing will happen. Especially on the Internet. Hypocrisy, bigotry, people are ready to judge you even for what they themselves do on a daily basis.
See the end (and choose) for yourself.
The pandemic, by the way, played into the hands of the director. Masks very beautifully complement the main ideas of the picture. Even without a covid, we're always hiding our face, playing a role. During a conversation, this mask of duplicity can begin to subside and expose the true face.
And behind the masks lies our false virtue. All these ostentatious attempts to behave consciously, to care for the health of others - most often no more than hypocrisy. Politicians who come up with measures to combat the pandemic are themselves violating them. People who froth at the mouth prove the importance of these measures, on the fly change shoes when it comes to personal convenience.
The film was perfect for the mood, and I have been bothered by similar thoughts lately, so:
10 out of 10
To begin with, the stunning, deliberately vulgar (and corresponding to the form and content of the film) title was changed to a much more modest and chaste “Mad adult cinema”.
From the candid scenes of sex in the film remained only the sounds of this sex. Instead of a video, the viewer is presented with an absolutely empty black screen (perhaps a subtle allusion to the work of Malevich, but still unlikely).
For an adult, conscious viewer (and this picture, of course, goes exactly such a viewer) decide what he can see and what can not. Suppose this tape fell under the law “On the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development”. But the picture has an age limit of 18+. Children whose protection the state cares so much about, simply will not be able to get to the session.
“We don’t have any censorship,” Putin said.
Well, this is where our two-minute hate comes to an end. Let’s talk about the painting itself.
“Fucking Badly or Crazy Porn” is the winner of the last Berlin Film Festival. The author of the picture is a Romanian director, a favorite of Berlin, Radu Jude.
The main character is a teacher at Amy's prestigious school, whose home video was refused by her husband (it is not very clear whether accidentally or not, he is somehow suspiciously excited by the camera on). It is worth noting that their sex is constantly hindered by the grandmother, then the children - a clear reference to the interference to the viewer in the Russian box office.
The new order in the age of the Internet, where the private becomes the public, affects Amy’s career. Her future career depends on the decision of the parents of her students.
The picture is divided into chapters, prologue and epilogue
In the beginning, we learn the story, learn about the approaching parental meeting, watch Amy walk through the Romanian streets (painfully reminiscent of Russian), literally screaming about deep cultural decline.
The next part is the alphabet. Literally. Sketches of Eastern European life, revealing the total blindness and everyday fascism of citizens, showing, as it were, the historical prerequisites of the thinking process taking place in the minds of people.
Next, the assembly itself, which possessed the most diverse strata of the population, almost the whole country.
In the epilogue, Radu Jude gives the viewer three possible outcomes of the meeting: possible, impossible and generally impossible, but so desirable.
This picture is not an abstract sketch - it is about our reality, about today, it is not for nothing that all the characters wear medical masks, and they are constantly reminded to correct them.
The film is a real vaccination against hypocrisy. It's a pity we have so many anti-vaccination agents.
The revocation of the rental license (and as a consequence, the cancellation of the rental), the transformation of the original catchy and mocking ("Unsuccessful fuck, or Mad Porn") film title into a sterilely localized ("Mad adult cinema"), censorship scissors, cutting off the title video of skillfully simulated (or not?) sex, + the recent statement of Roskomnadzor, which proposed to ban films promoting "unconventional sex" in online cinemas, and showing all kinds of sex deviations - all these events of varying degrees of idiocy and absurdity were ideal directors of the three films.
The main character of the film is a teacher whose intimate video appeared on the Internet; because of this, she is waiting for proceedings at school, at a parental meeting.
A beautiful picture of Romanian filmmakers, raising a whole host of burning themes of today’s digital world, not for nothing this year received the Golden Bear of the Berlin Film Festival. Starting with a three-minute candid scene of marital sex, the film opens with the first chapter, in which we make with the main character a half-hour odyssey hypnotizing in its ordinaryity on the city that has woken up after a coveidal hibernation, with its hurrying residents, accidentally snatched conversations on the topic of the day, ridiculous events, accompanied by selective swearing and episodic conversations by Amy on the phone.
The second chapter is a funny alphabetical sketch-almanac of terms under the title “A Short Dictionary of Anecdotes, Signs and Curiosities”, a short episode of pictorial concepts that form the same double morality of modern society and how convenient it is to interpret them depending on the situation. All this delightful ambivalent terminology dissolves organically in the third chapter of “Practice and understatement (sitcom)”, where we will observe the parental trial of the guilty (?) teacher. Beginning with a humiliating demonstration of the notorious leaked video and a mockingly greedy viewing of it by all present, the scene flows into a delightful debate, conducted by easily recognizable archetypes, which Jude conveniently enclosed in the walls of the courtyard of a private school.
Sarcastic and gallant tirades towards the accused, sometimes breaking into direct insults, gradually flow from the private to the general. Mutual quarrels grow on a scale, questions of morality and morality are quietly replaced by the constantly itchy problems of the Romanian past, xenophobia, misogony, conspiracy and anti-Semitism are mixed in fiery speeches. Everything and everything seems to be under review. I love that kind of fun verbal balance. The degree of absurdism - as befits a model sitcom - is growing, the Pharisaic essence of the seething stream of monologues and dialogues heats the situation to the limit. And then Jade with the sardonic grin of the demiurge of his small Universe, emphasizing the sincere convention of his construct, resolves this public court with three options for the final.
One of the best movies of the year!
The film won at the Berlin Festival, which prompted the viewing. What's the movie really about? The authors of the film tried to touch on a serious problem when mad sinners condemn an almost perfect person who burned on one small, but turned into serious problems prank. The essence of the film: the Internet leaked an intimate video of the main character, letting her whole life derailed. And perhaps no one would be interested in this video, if the main character was not a teacher in a good school. But in the end, everyone watched home porn: students, their parents, acquaintances and relatives. It's not pleasant enough. The film boils down to a discussion: can you forgive a teacher like this, or should you fire him?
In fact, the film never gave an answer to the question: is it reasonable to claim the teacher, or is it godless hypocrisy to demand from the teacher ideal, almost monastic characteristics. The only thing the film shows is how bad it is to live in Romania.
Today, such cases with the leakage of very personal materials are becoming more and more. But who's to blame? It would be worth teaching people not only school, but also digital literacy and security. The video, shot only for two, was online due to a fairly common mistake: a laptop with personal files was handed over for repair, without even bothering to password personal folders. This is how all the “leaks” get into the network. I know this because I have friends who work in electronic repair.
People themselves give passwords from their laptops, mobile phones and tablets. And they know if the repairs are too confidential information. The first thing in the repair is looking for exactly such materials - they are well paid on the Internet. Everyone should understand this: the modern age imposes its own characteristics. And if the couple decided to make a few piquant photos or videos, it was necessary either to ensure that the materials remained confidential, or to be aware that such photos sooner or later will become public. The couple can break up, the virus can steal data, or, as in the case of the main character, the files themselves were given to third parties. This must be understood by the person creating such content, and this is the essence of an important problem. And it turns out that the victims of the “leak” are either too stupid, and in the end are themselves to blame, or were initially ready to publish the materials, and nothing terrible happened in their lives. There is simply no third option here, which means that it is necessary to subject the prerequisites, not the consequences, to the discussion.
This film was painfully reminiscent of Russia, when a teacher from Barnaul lost her job because of a photo in a swimsuit and a short dress. At the time, management also claimed that the images were a stain on the school’s reputation. The photos of the teacher did not like the mother of one of the students, and she sent them first to the parent chat, and then the headmaster of the school. Parents of schoolchildren and the boss agreed that the pictures are too candid for the teacher.
- Only prostitutes get dressed and photographed. Heels, a dress above the knees - and everything is on display! Who are you luring? You are not allowed to wear the title of teacher, a stain on the reputation of the school! It is not surprising that boys-students are in love, and pedophilia is not far away, said the headmaster of the school.
Now for the movie.
Of course, the film deservedly received the Golden Bear, and is worthy of all praise. After all, it shows all the insanity and obscurantism of people in the era of new technologies and progress. Especially in former socialist countries. Against this background, Romania is a country of contrasts, here history itself has mixed in Romania fascism, communism, savage capitalism, and Orthodoxy with its contradictory morality and morality. In the second part of the film, called “Metaphors”, it is clearly noticeable. There's a lot of stuff going on in people's heads. Ordinary things, like patriotism, pornography, or politics, are stacked in our brains without knowing what they are associated with. The right and wrong interpretations of these things are given by the society and individual characters. And with these concepts, we are led to a logical finale.
When the main character walks around the city, the author, as it were, specially shows a dirty, broken and dilapidated background. Here and the corresponding music from the fascist march to folklore. There are poor, angry people who can violate all the rules of decency, and the rules of the road. And here is the world of chaos and unscrupulous modern cities. Their ruthlessness and cannibalism. A normal person is devoured by such a city, and is destroyed.
One last thing. Many people are shocked by the beginning of the film, they say that it is terrible and indecent to show such a thing. However, everyone understands that this is quite natural and not ugly, and no worse than Hollywood movies with severed heads and rivers of blood throughout the film. It was only five minutes and the panic started. While murder and violence have become the norm in cinema, carnal pleasures are taboo. Therefore, the director pokes his face into the truth of the life of “highly moral” moralists from the very beginning. But to understand it, while few can. It reminded me of a parable: Once a Master showed his disciples a blank sheet of paper with a black dot in the middle and asked, “What do you see?” The first student said, "Point." Two: "Black Dot." Three: "Fat dot." Then the Master replied:
- You all saw a dot and no one noticed a big white sheet!
In the same way we judge everything without seeing the whole world around us and others. We are enclosed within our own limits, filled with propaganda and trained like dogs by rabid patriotism. And the worst part is that we live in a society that we have chosen to be immoral.
I sincerely hope that I correctly understood the position of Radu Jude, the director of the film ' Crazy Cinema for Adults' - that it is that all the modern conceptual / moral obscurantism of modern Romanian (read and many others) society, which is so prominently reflected in the scandalous plot of this film about the porn of a school teacher who got online. However, there are still doubts of the following order: being a thoroughly trained intellectual (a documentary filmmaker, moreover). .surprising ' black and white' the director's vision of the modern world. Moreover, the position of the cruel & #39; poking in the nose & #39; to the viewer with all those artifacts of modern anticulture (from porn to violence) . . . as proof that we must live differently. .causes great doubts in terms of the positive result of the implementation of the author's idea! Mature people simply do not get high in this dirt to watch 1.5 hours on the screen (even with stylistically intricate interruptions and specific humor of Jude), and young people can simply not understand ' ideas ' and get away from naked violence and porn from the big screen, perceiving them ' one to one' - as propaganda. Well, the strangest thing is. . the author, (still I hope) sincerely suffering from the state of affairs of minds and souls shown by him (in Romania/post-Soviet countries of COMECON). . can not help but realize that . . itself frankly multiplies in the minds of people (non-intellectuals, and also them) the above-mentioned violence, and can hardly ignore the fact that . . art has several dozen/hundreds of ways to protect cleanliness on the screen - in other ways than a dirty parody of physical and mental violence? Why wouldn't Radu just make a love movie at this difficult time? Because it's . . . the hardest thing to do.' It's also something to believe'
Something would have changed dramatically if not for the prologue with the content of home porn?
Nothing at all.
All three parts into which the film is divided would lose nothing but, perhaps, a general interest in the picture itself.
Morality, perhaps, there is, but a primitive move was used to convey it.
Not so long ago, an Oscar-winning short film about the sad state of women’s hygiene in India and how important it is. There was an important message, but the audience was not shown the process. It's not necessary.
I am not a prude at all and I am calm about eroticism or even porn on the screen, but when there is a purpose in it. Here we were simply lured by scandal in order to philosophize.
And here's the big mistake. Basically, this film is uninhibited young or not very people who so and would not blame the teacher for what is happening, and who tuned in to a slightly more humorous movie with some morality.
And those who are in the role of “bad cops” in the meeting, such people will not go to this film knowing that there will be scenes of explicit content.
So who is this movie for?
Oddly enough, the most delivered 2 part of the film, which in the style of Von Trier and others very grotesque tells the alphabet & #39; life & #39; and some historical factors of Romania and not only.
Before you decide to watch this film, you need to understand that this is more a philosophical essay than a formalized story. What brings the picture together with the film by Ruben Estlund 'Square', which took the main prize in Cannes in 2017; 'Unsuccessful fuck' also received the most significant award of the Berlinale, the most politicized film festival. This is also a pamphlet, which is a sarcastic reflection of our today's world - it is ultramodern, coveted reality there appears in all its social glory.
The film is clearly divided into parts - a short porn prologue, which will be repeated later and will cause a sense of shame not only for the main character, but also, I think, for the viewer; a walk in Bucharest, from which you can very clearly see how similar ours are to the Romanian people; the Romanian alphabet (which reminded me of Trier's favorite digressions) in the second part, leading to an understanding of some aspects of what will happen in the third, game-decision, which asks more questions than gives any answers.
In the second part, the director compares the film with the reflection of Medusa Gorgon in the shield of Perseus. I think it will be useful for the Russian viewer to look into this shield. And the fact that the film was not given a distribution certificate in Russia is very well integrated into the canvas of the picture itself, look, and you will understand what I am talking about.
The most positive impression was made by this film.
A rare opportunity to watch porn, harsh social satire and sketches of post-cove reality in one film.
Yeah, a lot of people won't. Whatever.
The movie is fire, the movie is bomb.
It is divided into three parts.
1. Sex videos are the main cause of conflict. This is porn, not erotica. It's a typical home style. Nothing special, except it was just shown in the cinema. Oh, those Europeans. . .
2. Sketches of post-coding reality. There is no exciting dialogue, no amazing acting. Everything is filmed in the genre of pseudo-documentary. The camera captures the events and landscapes of Eastern Europe. The same as we have dull Khrushchevs, poor people and autohams, parking as they get.
3. A harsh social satire in the form of a dictionary. Meaning of words, historical facts, porn videos of the early 20th century. Oh, Romania. . .
I liked the most of these moments:
'Christmas. During the 2nd world war in Simferopol, the Nazis with particular zeal shot Jews in time for Christmas.
': Buyers and sellers. The man who buys and sells is more direct and less restrained than the man who reasons and fights.39
The movie's most powerful moments are there. Historical photos and videos of the 20th century and videos from mobile phones of the 21st century were used. That is, part of the film is a vertical video.
It's really hard for me.
4. The notorious moment with the court of the teacher, filmed in the form of a Soviet film ' Garage'. In some very strange hall of a historic building, with an open roof, a teacher is being tried. Against the background of a bust of some famous Romanian, founder of the "Elite School" & #39; a bunch of supermoral teachers and parents shamelessly watch the leaked porn and apparently see fellatio for the first time. It's comical. And a lot of things thrown at the fan.
The beginning of the film lives up to expectations: for a long time we have not seen on the big screen candid home porn. But after 5 minutes, porn ends and a feature film without art begins. Home porn teacher of 35 years with her husband inexplicably leaks into the network, it was discovered by parents and even students. She faces dismissal from an elite school and must attend a parental meeting to decide her fate.
In addition to the porn episode, the film consists of three parts. In the first, the heroine painfully long goes to the meeting around the city, along the way coming on various business. The city looks dirty, uncomfortable and unfriendly, without embellishment. Well, the truth of life, as well as marital sex, but it's one of the highs of many. And this truth for twenty minutes causes boredom: neither the beauty of the frame or action, nor the tension of the action, except that passers-by argue with impudent motorists. It was enough for 5 minutes.
In the second part, a clever video dictionary exposes the double standards of society is presented. It's funny, but it's also boring.
And finally, the director gets to the meeting. On it, hypocrisy, lack of culture and ignorance of most parents appear in all its glory. Men, and many women lustfully review the piquant video, and then begin to vilify the teacher. Suddenly, the headmistress looks decent. She tries to protect the heroine, but, due to the sanctimonious standards of society, can not do it too clearly. Everything results in a fight in which the heroine courageously tries to defend her rights. It looks natural, but also boring, no drama, as, for example, in ' Garage' E. Ryazanov, who has already been mentioned in other reviews.
At the end of the film, the director offers us three options for the final.
Well, okay, the director provocatively showed the bigotry of the modern world and our insecurity in the digital age. But what is the artistic value and what is the prize of the Berlinale, I did not understand.
6 out of 10
We were called to cool porn, and they showed the movie Garage.
That's what we all need. "Fucking Badly or Crazy Porn" won the Berlinale Bear. And the description is also impressive: an intimate video of the teacher leaked online. The teacher is facing dismissal, but she does not think to give up.
I think I'll see if I write a review. Yeah. The same wishing to rejoice gathered a whole hall, including Ivan Urgant. And the late hour (the beginning of the twelve nights) did not confuse.
And a good excuse: did you come to see porn at night? No, how can you? I am on the winning film 'Berlinale'...
And here we sit, so proud and contented.
Some were prepared, with friends and girlfriends. To make it more fun in the dark.
Anyway, I was so excited. And we don't even know if it's a movie or an ad, when all of a sudden we get cheap porn. It feels like the first one from a porno hub. Spectacle for private viewing is not very, and for collective - and even more so. Not to mention the fact that the Romanian rod for the big screen is not adapted enough.
All of them start fidgeting in their chairs, looking around and smiling helplessly like, oh, did you think Rachmaninoff's concert was going to be? It's embarrassing how it happened.
And then bummer by bummer. The main heroine of porn throughout the first part of the film just walks around the city. To the market, down the street, for tea. Some people, obsharpe, Soviet buildings. . . It might be interesting, but not an hour to watch.
Then comes the second part, we are shown a presentation on the topic of Romanian history: cadres, parades, tanks. And finally, the third part is the cosplay of the film Garage. They're organizing a parent meeting and everybody's talking about sex. Moreover, it is clear that the god of this Romanian Ryazanov only yesterday sent an old iPad, so he took and mounted on his knee everything that he had there. Porn is good. Here we go. Walking around town is great. Did the presentation fail? Great. Everybody inside, everybody inside. And numa-numa-e, and may-hee and kind wine doruled, kind doruled wine.
Anyway, it was a big bummer. The audience put on a mask, bras zipped. It was like a dinner party at Dracula’s.
And most importantly, it's a shame to leave. I mean, the porn was screened, and now it's kind of wrong to get out of harmless footage.
I would have laughed, but apparently my face was not very good either.
ZY: Romanian name fervent created a lot of excitement.
We were going to show porn - we showed the film "Garage"
Conclusion: Don't fall for the obvious intrigue.
A film about spiritual nudity, a film about the double standards of modern society.
The movie starts with porn. Frank, as the man sitting next to me said. "How can that be exciting?" And that wasn't necessary. The creators clearly wanted to give us the cold water of realism. And at the same time to show that there is nothing unusual and terrible in this. I also want to point out that it was much more difficult for the older generation to watch this part. Sigh. Turned away. This is where the most interesting thing begins. Why? Because the film is about someone (specifically the first and third parts) as a Romanian teacher (the question is who). Maybe she did. He is very calm in reacting to this event! It was like waiting for a moment to speak.
And the court, in the person of her parents and the headmistress, tries to clothe her sins and the fact that she does dirty things. And she should be fired.
The second part consists of memes and quotes, videos and historical information that give a hard kick to the realization of the realities in which we live. Clothes. There is laughter and tears, the Director rides us on an emotional roller coaster and makes it clear that “the movie is a mirror, in short, we look at reality” (the reality is so terrible; an allegory on the head of Medusa Gorgon). And this is exactly what it is.
Huge respect for the authors for the shots with men parking on the sidewalk in huge expensive cars in one of the poorest countries and literally humiliating everyone who does not have a car, forcing them to bypass themselves.
I try without spoilers, but I will give a hint.
How do you think the movie ends? What fate awaits a smart and talented teacher after such a dirty part of her life comes out?
The film has three alternative endings. And I think you know which ones.
Watch it! It is worth, if you openly accept what is happening around without blinders, then once again laugh and be angry. But in any case, it is difficult morally, unusual.
There will be no evaluation.

"Unsuccessful fuck, or crazy porn" - "Successful satire, or crazy grotesque."
The new Romanian wave, which peaked in the mid-00s, continues its current. Mr. Lozarescu found his peace, Bucharest mechanically lights and turns off his lanterns, others dumped & #39; cargo & #39; communism in the garbage can, and the fourth learned the bitterness of the American dream. Romania is different: sometimes close in spirit, crazy and beautiful, unjust and desperate, and sometimes even terrible. Cinema has proved that it can not only visually design art, but also show the inside out of the country and prove that no matter what country a person lives in, we, people, have similar problems, interests, and this is regardless of whether we live in Romania, Russia, France or anywhere else.
In 2021, Romania continues to show its superiority through the prism of cinema. You don’t have to be a critic and a person of high status to understand the films of this wave, and this is the beauty of Romanian films, they all speak plain language about difficult people like us. Speaking about the paintings of Radu Jude, it is worth noting that during his career he did not shoot so many paintings, because more based on documentary, through which he had a chance to tell about some events from Romanian history. And Jude, who had a lot of experience in this and that kind of cinema, combines all these qualities and applies them in his new picture, and does not do it in a formulaic way, that is not based specifically on the artistic and documentary form, but does it in a new format in order to emphasize the modern variability and that not only the surrounding world and its principles have changed, but also the type of cinema, its format and form of narrative.
If it’s about the film itself, “Fucking Bad” tells the story of a teacher Amy, whose career hangs in the balance when her intimate video gets online and distributed on the Internet. Amy faces not only dismissal from school, but also possible contempt from the environment. And yes, most likely everyone could find themselves in a similar situation, a story immediately comes to mind from last year, when one of the Russian football players was in exactly the same situation. But that's not it now. Jude takes as a basis a topic about which not everyone thinks, but whose problems are pressing today, namely, the opening and dissemination of personal data of a person. But, as it turns out, the topic of leakage of personal data, which has already managed to take root and become banal for the cinema, in this picture is only a shell.
The socialization of man in today’s world is arranged in such a way that people, being to some extent immoral, shout and bark about some norms of morality, the boundaries of ethics. And in this case, it is not because the world loses some dome of moral laws, but because it has become easier for people to observe and condemn than to perform and observe something. And all these aspects Jude combines in the three stages of his painting. And, as I outlined at the beginning, Radu is attached to both the artistic and documentary form of cinema, so the lines that separate one film into 3 stories fully reveal the entire stylistics of this director. And without going into details and details, I want to add that each new chapter builds an object, something material, and more specifically, let’s imagine a house.
The first chapter is the walls of our house, and they symbolize today’s social environment due to posters and images that have duality, bookmakers and slot machines that have acquired significant status in today’s reality, well, random people are responsible for the background. The second chapter is the materials that make up our house. That is, history as a phenomenon has a meaning, whatever it may be, our home stands due to the historical process and today’s reality. The third chapter is about the residents of the house. People who absorb life into these walls, each of them has a different profession, all have their own hobbies and interests, and yes, everyone considers their truth to be the only and indisputable. So, figuratively speaking, Jude builds a house where one big double connection is clearly traced: the duality of images, the duality of characters of people, the duality of actions of both. Either the world has become fully and completely ambivalent, or today it has become the norm to condemn others without looking at oneself.
Or maybe there’s no subtext and an ice cream poster that fills your mouth, it’s just a miserable ice cream commercial and nothing more? And the problem is with us viewers who don't see ice cream here, but a possible sexual overtones? One way or another, all this can be combined into the idea that today is the time of injury. When many people are so moved by mobility that some have forgotten the essence and significance of things, and everything comes from ethical concepts. Some people do not care that your yard is your private life, they will care about the scarecrow displayed outside your house. And, of course, people who condemn your actions will certainly talk about harm to others and especially to children, although at this moment they will be watching you with great interest.
The most beautiful thing about this film is not only its dual (again) three-act nature, not only its tribute to the whole Romanian wave (from small to large; from reason to madness), but also how it fits perfectly into the canons of today’s life. Diva can be given from how here masks play not only the role of everyday life, but also one of the functions of revealing the characters. This has its charm and I think it would not be an exaggeration to say that “Mad fuck...” is not only a picture whose relevance climbs from all the cracks, but also a movie that brazenly sticks its foot out in time.
“Fucking Badly or Crazy Porn” is a movie about the variability of today’s world. And it's in modern cinematic language, through possible forms and forms, showing how not only people are changing, but also the environment. It’s not good or bad, it just exists with us. We live in the world as it is, and we cannot run away from it and from people, we cannot remove what is not in our power, and, no matter how pathetic it may sound, only a word will help in our problems, although this is not a fact, for there are several steps to madness. Especially today.
There must be no too early development of sexual life among the proletariat—the first sexual commandment of the revolutionary working class.
- Sexual abstinence is necessary before marriage, and marriage is only in a state of full social and biological maturity (that is, 20-25 years) - the second sexual commandment of the proletariat.
Sexual intercourse is only the final end of a deep, all-round sympathy and attachment to the object of sexual love.
- Sexual intercourse should be only the final link in the chain of deep and complex experiences that connect lovers at the moment.
Sexual intercourse should not be repeated often.
- Do not often change the sexual object. Less sexual diversity.
Love must be monogamous, monoandrical (one wife, one husband).
- With any sexual intercourse, one should always remember about the possibility of having a child and generally remember about the offspring.
Sexual selection must be based on class, revolutionary proletarian expediency. Elements of flirting, courtship, coquetry and other methods of special sexual conquest should not be introduced into love relationships.
- There must be no jealousy. Sexual love life, built on mutual respect, equality, deep ideological affinity, mutual trust, does not allow lies, suspicion, jealousy.
There should be no sexual perversions.
- In the interests of revolutionary expediency, a class has the right to interfere in the sexual life of its members. The sexual must obey the class in everything, without interfering with anything, serving it in everything.
'The Twelve Sexual Precepts of the Revolutionary Proletariat' 1924
The first three minutes of this movie is a bombshell. Where are we? What is it? Porn studios unfolded cloth in every house? Bold! Now! Hot! A man and a woman in domestic pleasures without shameful stiffness. Sex in a rainbow display of passion. Just like it happens between two people. Alone. No strangers. Behind closed doors. Behind the curtains of dense fabric. With the vocabulary of excitation of the partner, in the fever of desire to relieve excitement. Anything! Yes, let me, everything is possible. Well, almost all. And if so, then privately shooting yourself on the phone. You can watch it at your leisure. Sweet intoxication. Discharge your entire cartridge to the last round. With squeak, moaning, wheezing... With encouragement - well, push it, honey. . .
So what's in front of us? What is going on in the world today? What kind of Sex in the City is a demonstration? Did we miss something? Or is the pandemic driving us crazy? Full-screen porn? Close-ups? Yo-ho-ho! How is that possible?
You won't believe it. Movie ' Unsuccessful Fuck, or Crazy Porn' - no more, no less, triumphant Berlinale 2021. There's porn! Romanian film ' took ' the main trophy of the film forum! That's great news! How so? Is that possible? Berlin? This isn’t an industry meeting for adult entertainment, is it?
Intimate footage of home photography of a school teacher is on the World Wide Web. Piquantities behind other people's doors become public. The Internet is making a cruel joke. And now social networks dissect what is happening, savoring the details. Flight analysis with comments, jokes, banter. How is it now? How to live?
A dramatic comedy with satire about the double standards of our world. What is common in our society and what do we close our eyes to? Things known to everyone and everyone, but in shameful arrogance vulgar, silent, taboo. The naked body is hidden under the cover of fabric, but touching it can be very dangerous. There are consequences.
Director Radu Jude is busy with a juicy fool. We're all invited to a parent meeting. And everyone has a voice. Please speak up. Discuss the debate by participating. How do you like that? Condemn or support ' criminal'? Even children, students, now send each other videos. What about spirituality? And tall? And morality? On what cross should a sinner be crucified like Pilate (and he is also mentioned here)? This fornication, girl!
This is the new reality in ridicule. The bastions of the fortress are falling in the age of technology one by one. We're taking it to another, new level. Is he good or bad? Who knows? But what is different is for sure. Man changes. And is there an unambiguous answer as, yes, exactly as - now? However, this is the final plot of the picture. And the middle of the film is filled with our less shocking mirror images. They make us admit to ourselves who we are, in essence. And how we perceive, evaluate what is around us.
