A century of contradiction and absurdity A new comedy featuring the beloved Dani Boone came out interesting, funny and absurd. Directed by Fred Cavaillet, who worked with Dani on "The Bite", introduces us to 17th century France with all its traditions and unexpected discoveries. The transfer of history to a few centuries ago has a beautiful effect on the architecture of Paris, fashion and style of all citizens. The story of the tape is presented to us on behalf of a still unknown person who focuses on the historical confrontation between the French and Savoys, whose borders are separated by a small river.
The picture is amusingly introduced by lawyer Dani Boone, who with all his charisma and zeal seeks to protect everyone indiscriminately. Moreover, the director gives every detail a bit of a joke: the age of the characters, their profession, then life. Boone does not shine with success, but always stands for a just cause. Behind all the comic lurks an important jurisprudence, which only increases the intensity of passions.
The population of Paris vegetates in mud and ruin, clearly conveying the time period. Hence, fashion, together with tradition, shows us Boone’s opponent in court – Valver, performed by Jerome Commander. You see, after the modern comedies of Boone (“Customs gives good”, “Beaver scold!”), the actors appear before us in the Renaissance. Therefore, humor is conducted around the ethnos, which gives a quite pleasant narrative.
The goat in the picture is an important object and the most unexpected participant. We saw what Dani was like in the case, but the exhibition was able to connect the poor victim and the error of the prosecution, which combined the historical knowledge of the country. Impressively, the appearance of the shepherd Camila envelops the most strange and intricate story, the solution of which is to be learned by Buna. The plot interestingly demonstrates the constant court hearings to show how futile attempts to prove anything. An old judge, silent jurors, a clown opponent and a simple people who, to the extent of their illiteracy, believe everything they say.
The viewer learns about the crime in the exhibition, but we investigate it together with Boone with special accuracy. You do not believe in the success of the main character, but you penetrate with all your heart to his cause. Meanwhile, the intricate mystery arising from the murder allows us to assess the resourcefulness of the heroes and it is interesting to untie this tangle of mystery.
Of course, it is easier to blame someone who cannot defend himself. But will you try to prove otherwise? This is the basis of the speech of Dani Boone, who himself understands the absurdity of the case, but with the help of the demonstration makes everyone think about their own origin, behavior and stupidity, which all the timekeeping literally saturates the whole case.
The film is beautifully shot. The plot gives serious themes, seasoned with humor and delusion. But soon an important part follows from this delirium. Characters make so logical and obvious conclusions that they literally lead to a stupor. This is not just a joke for the sake of comedy, but a presentation of stupidity, which is played by the characters as the most obvious action. Together with the main character, we reveal the truth about the tragedy in the exposition, beautifully investigating the absurd situation. After all, evidence and leads say quite different.
The joke of the whole story is that the title of the picture in Russian can be applied, both literally and metaphorically. (The original name is simply Goats, which is also applied to several characters, but loses its Russified subtext.) Well, this is a great comedy with Dani Boone, which both amuses and raises important questions for lawyers, and perfectly tells about the absurdity of what is happening.
