--Plunkett review and McClain-- I have brains and experience, and you can pretend to be a gentleman. (c)
Not particularly stupid, but also hapless robber Will Plunkett, perfectly diluted by a former member of the high society, with a hole in his pocket - Captain James MacLaine. Captain James MacLaine, and how it sounds from which article it was said. Almost as exceptional as Captain Jack Sparrow. But not in comparison, not in comparison.
A word about that time. When it was easier to hang than to figure it out. When rich people put all ignorance to the face. Love pleasures with unquenchable flattery, syphilis, white faces and men with painted lips. Who will understand them... All those dirty corners and dirty people, our heroes are no exception. You can be a gentleman in any way.
One moment of history. The Second Peace of Aachen ended the War of the Austrian Succession. On April 30, 1748, England and the Netherlands signed a preliminary treaty with France. But this cramp doesn't need that depth. Meanwhile, in the film, our heroes were looking for new ways to rob the arrogant rich.
Let's open the secret veil of the plot, just a little. You will see England in all its glory. It will be very, very cloudy, as always in this country. Some places are not taken seriously, so this is good, after all, it is necessary to defuse the situation. The viewer does not always have time to understand whether we are watching a thriller, a comic scene, and a sip of drama on the sweet. Of course, our heroes will have to go through the thorny path, through pain and humiliation, to a bright future, and whether it will happen. That’s where you’ll find out by looking to the end. Harshness and irony, yes, evil satire, this is the essence of our film. Of course, there are shortcomings in the plot, and the disclosure of some characters is not all smooth. Well, it's little things. But taking and not being confused, director Jake Scott gave the film its own, special style. For those who did not know, Jake Scott is the son of the notorious director Ridley Scott.
The subject of actors. A little about the duet of the main characters. Known to us from the film “On the Needle” (1995), long sung and splashed Robert Carlisle and Johnny Lee Miller, here perform completely different images, but also clearly and harmoniously, as if born in komsols. Ewan McGregor seems to be staring at this point. Alan Cumming to play gay, but to spit. And how can you not mention, and especially forget the beautiful blue eyes and smile of Liv Tyler?
Raisin. The film's unusual decision is to use the dance, dramatic music of our time. I think they did, it looks as surreal as it is organic. Sounds? Sounds! Atmosphericity turned out something in the spirit of the old era movies about vampires. But without vampires...
Stock up on a cup of hot tea. It will be very cloudy, cool and damp. Enjoy your visit.
