The movie started out really well. At the beginning of the film there is something from King and Vladislav Krapivin. A talented freshman student, along with his mother, moved to live in a student town. The guy is talented but infantile, so he has no friends, but he built a real robot that became a friend.
Gradually, the student meets the same losers, schoolchildren - the poor son of a guard, a girl who is raped by her father. And they have a real friendship that joins a robot with the intelligence of a three-year-old child. Together, they can confront problems like the same rapist father or the half-crazy old lady next door. But one day things went wrong. The girl died and the student decides to revive her by inserting her brains robot. Although the robot sometimes showed strange behavior.
Wes Craven shot it all. He wanted to make a very subtle film where the main nightmare would not be a robot girl, but adults. And at the beginning of the film, in many scenes, you can see that it was supposed to be a very gloomy, but good picture. A psychological thriller with a small element of Sci-Fi. Very strange, creepy. But in the already shot film got into the guys from Warner Bros. Craven hit the Nightmares cashier on Elm Street before. And the next Nightmare managers of Warner Bros and waited. The film hastily remade stuffing it thrashy scenes, completely do not fit into the plot and even see how they fall out of the overall style. The movie was hopelessly ruined and waiting to be remade.
