Scandalo Show boredom, show indifference, show passion and submission. It is within this framework that the narrative in this film is built. When there is war and instability around, one crook who seeks to survive tries to overcome his own fears by immersing himself in the sexual wilds. Embracing Thanatos with Eros in his soul leads to a series of non-trivial acts that could well be characterized as rape, if not for one circumstance - the victims were attached to a conditional villain. And this affection was very controversial - it was necessary to hate someone specific, and to regret the obvious nothingness. Thus, our anti-hero did everything to give meaning to the people around him.
Perhaps, if you take fragments out of context, it may seem that the film is filled with sharp and explicit erotic scenes – forcing one and two women, forcing them to public nudity, forcing them to involve their daughter in “this is all” ... But Salvatore Samperi is not obsessed with showing sexual perversions. Obviously, the director is making his own "Conformist" - a coercive erotic drama of no more than a metaphor. Like the growth dynamics of the hero in "Tin Drum".
So, if the discerning viewer was hooked by Liliana Cavani’s “Night Porter” or Bertolucci’s “Conformist”, Truffaut’s “Last Metro” or Marco Ferreri’s “Lisa”, then there are all reasons to watch this tape. This is an expressive and memorable film that is a little short of a true masterpiece. As if the director who took up the scandalous topic was a little scared of what he began to succeed and slowed down. But in my opinion, everything turned out so clearly better than the passion dilogy of Nagis Oshima. Not so much.
