As a big anime skeptic, I started watching Attack of the Titans as a joke. Turned on a laugh with hypertrophied emotions and pathos. For the first season and a half, I treated this series as an unassuming cinematic “guilty pleasure”, under which there is no shame to crunch popcorn in between watching “high cinema”. Why wait here? Teenagers from series to series fly between tiled roofs and fight evil giants, periodically whine, figure out relationships and overcome. Is there going to be some genius twist? I bet I already know him. Shōnen is a shōnen, even when it is “wow, with meaning.” Do not jump over your head...
Expectations were pleasantly deceived. By season four, Attack of the Titans isn’t just jumping over its head – it’s growing wings and soaring into the sky. With my hand on my heart, I cannot recall another work that has so deeply, thoroughly and consistently studied the cycle of violence, the pendulum of repentance and resentment, the dichotomy of right and left ideologies, the nature of fascism, the essence of anticolonial discourse and much more. By the fourth season, the naive shōnen turns into an allegorical philosophical epic filled with multisyllabic references to the history of the twentieth century. At the same time, the elegance of working with historical parallels in Attack of the Titans is simply a reference. Instead of unambiguous condo metaphors, the story is interpreted at the level of phenomena and processes, which prevents the series from falling into historiosophical speculation or flat political agitation.
By the end of “Attack of the Titans” is carried away so far from where it began, that it is time to think – why was there so much time to mask it all under the dashing adventure action movie about the fight against giant cannibals? It is in order to give the viewer a fully akin to the heroes, imbued with their struggle, share their delusions with them, go along with them all the way. The lion’s share of the effect produced by the final season is based on the contrast with those same jumping between the tiled roofs of the teenagers from the first season. To fully enjoy the depth of the philosophical epic, to which the “Attack of the Titans” accelerates to the end, can only those who did not disdain to delve into the naive shonen, which she pretends at first.
Open your heart to this series with irony, and it will not fail to turn into an unironic catharsis for you.
10 out of 10
When I first started watching Attack of the Titans, I didn’t do more than one episode, thinking it was complete nonsense. “Attack of the Titans” was complex, emotionally rich and exciting anime
Plot and world:
The story takes place in a world where humanity is forced to live in walled cities to protect itself from giant creatures known as Titans. These creatures pose a terrible threat as they eat people for no apparent reason. In the center of the plot are Eren Yeager, his half-sister Mikasa Ackerman and their friend Armin Arlert, who decide to join the Intelligence Corps to fight the Titans and learn the truth about the world beyond the walls.
Characters:
One of the strongest aspects of Attack of the Titans is its characters.
Eren, Mikasa and Armin are not just heroes, they are lively, complex people with their own motivations and fears.
Their development throughout the series is deeply impressive and causes sincere empathy.
The secondary characters are also well-designed and add depth and variety to the plot.
Animation and visual effects:
Wit Studio has done a good job with animation. Battle scenes with Titans look spectacular and dynamic. Character design and environment are also impressive for their detail and elaboration.
Also, MAPPA studio in the 4th season was a worthy replacement for the previous studio.
Musical accompaniment:
The soundtrack from Hiroyuki Savano complements the atmosphere of the series. Music enhances emotional impact and helps create tension in key moments
Disadvantages (subjective):
"Attack of the Titans" is not without drawbacks The first few series may seem slow and do not immediately capture the viewer's attention. The plot also becomes more and more confusing as it develops, which can confuse some viewers. Finally, a large number of characters can make it difficult to remember all the characters.
Conclusion:
Attack of the Titans is an anime worth watching despite initial doubts. Its original story, deep characters and exciting twists and turns make it truly unique.
I’ve never been interested in anything that most people think is “genius.” But by chance, the hands still came (in dispute).
The series is really good. In the first seasons at the height of cinematography, what happens causes horror and interest. The authors originally built a cool worked-out world with a lot of mysteries and ambiguities, but ...
Despite the interesting plot and cool storytelling, I personally started catching kringe streams in the first two seasons. Heroes in the 9th century (and in a society almost isolated for a hundred years) walk in jeans and leatherns, know what artificial respiration and concussion are, wear modern glasses, I am generally silent about UPM ("secret").
Nevertheless, until the third season, all the igniting moments (including the incessant infantile screams of the main character) were more than overshadowed by the interest to find out what the whole story will end and what the characters will eventually come to.
They'd better not come. Seasons 3 and 4 became much harder to bear (they were already watched at the acceleration of x1.5), as the authors decided to stretch more of the already stretched pathetic dialogue and lead to nothing scenes. The banal ideas that have already become obsolete, thanks to the rest of the “masterpieces” of the film industry, have joined: “Friendship is most important”, “to fight badly”, “we thought we were different and we were the same” and blah blah blah.
Kringe at the same time is in place and feels great, since the 3rd season you already get tired of laughing and exclaiming in strange moments.
- A child only yesterday received the power of titanium and suddenly learned to fly (and fly far)? - All right.
- The main character, who throughout the series only hysterical, did not show particularly high intelligence and set everyone up (and all were saved at the same time) suddenly becomes a cold and calculating strategist? - All right.
The attacking titan can now see not only the past, but also the FUTURE (!), and all the other attacking titans? - All right, you're our psychic.
By the end, most innovations cause only the phrase “oh how convenient”, apparently, the creators did not come up with another way to move the plot, and decided to move as lazily as possible.
The ending is weak and clichéd. If everything that happened in the end was a dream of a dog, it would look much more interesting and stronger (honestly, I thought so, since in one of the last episodes the main character, being a boy, wakes up after a strange dream).
Neither good nor bad. Nothing.
Okay. Ithaca (sorry). That moment has come. I’ve watched The Attack of the Titans and I’m starting a review that I’ve been thinking about for almost two years.
Attack of the Titans was my first anime series and I watched it in early 2022. I looked quite spontaneously - fell on the sick leave, climbed into the subscription of the Kinopoisk and saw that the KP was struggling with some anime.
At the same time, I, of course, many times came across the pink hari of Titans in the YouTube and graphic novels department of Chitai City. That is, I roughly imagined that “Attack of the Titans” (the title was enough, in fact). 'Cinema search force,' I thought. - 20 minute series. I'm sick and I don't go to the office. I do not feel rejection of anime as such. (At that time, I was indifferent to the anime - Miyazaki, Street Fighter from childhood, yes, but watching something purposefully - why?) I thought about it. In extreme cases, skip, if you do not like - well, or I will watch a little, a couple of episodes, if it becomes very boring to sit at home.
In three days I watched about 80 episodes - all that was in the subscription. I woke up thinking about AT, fell asleep in the morning, watching another episode - and even in my dream I dreamed of something clearly anime.
So, I watched about 80 episodes, and I stumbled into an insurmountable barrier: the release schedule. Realizing that I could not take this barrier with a fit, I took up the siege of my wife, whom I eventually forced to watch AT with me from the very beginning through blackmail and manipulation. (Oh, the history of this siege is worthy of a separate text.) In general, we watched the new series together with my wife - and thus came to the pre-finals of the fourth season, which was released last autumn. I remember how we watched the episode - and I couldn't stand it: downloaded the manga and, in a stroke, on the night, read the story to the end.
Finished reading, sat perplexed for a couple of days, read reviews and reviews - and began to bomb. And as a result, he joined the camp of viewers-readers, who believe that Isayama, alas, did not drag out the completion of the largest story and the finale he frankly failed.
And since then, hearing about the announcements of the next prefinals, I thought only about whether the anime ending will part with the manga ending.
It didn't break up.
Yesterday I watched the final episode, did not forget about the scene after (during) the credits - and went to bed upset. “Attack of the Titans” essentially repeated the fate of the serial version of “Game of Thrones”: a grandiose universe, the most complex, but also the most logical plot, bright, very lively characters – and a tightly merged ending, zeroing all or almost all of them. Only here is the difference that the IP leaked crooked filmmakers, and cunning Martin scratches his paper in search of the best possible completion, and AT ruined its creator.
I have no moral right to criticize Isayama, there are no complaints about him at all - a person got confused, nervous, connected Japanese etiquette to the load of terribly high expectations and moved on the wrong path that he planned (a kind of Yuri Bykov from anime). But history is pathetic. And the intelligence corps is pathetic. And the first three seasons are pathetic (particularly because the Muppa studio that intercepted the visual produced a disgusting level of drawing for the finale). By and large, the audience remains three Vitov seasons, which "during life" became legendary. And probably half past four before the hum. The next series is simply impossible to watch. But it is possible without half the fourth - three and all.
By the way, the first three seasons are so strong, so thoughtful, deep, independent and atmospheric that even after a tightly merged ending, the hand does not rise significantly to lower the overall score. So for me, AT goes down in history with a nine.
I don't like anime. That's from the word "in general," no matter how my girlfriend tried to plant me on the classics, but does not come out. At some point I looked at YouTube channel Kinopoiska about the “Attack of the Titans” and became curious.
I started watching and just couldn’t stand it. It wasn’t like those Japanese animes, it was more like some Western animated film without much curvature (Sasha, yo-yo!). After watching the first season immediately put the series 10. Then I watched season 2 and stayed with my opinion. The third season began with a rather boring political showdown, which ended in a few episodes, and then the series accelerated so much, as if apologizing for the beginning, and I understood why all this policy was needed.
And so season 4 began, where the beginning was cheerful and logical, but then the character of the protagonist makes a sharp jump from "I understand that I let you down, arrest me" to "I will easily betray these jerks because I have a plan." And from that moment on, it became difficult to follow the global story, because the author wanted to confuse the viewer so much that he got confused about the motivations and who is good and who is bad. At the same time, it is pleasant to watch the development of secondary characters until the very end, but here is the main character. A sharp change of mood level Daenerys Targaryen just knocks out, I want to ask the authors – why are you with my boy?! Yes, I knew that this was going to happen in season 1. Why is it so bad, so bad and so bad?
The ending feels weird. The message about war and human nature is understandable, but it seems to have no place. The series began as a story about the survival of people in an unequal battle against the Titans. Gradually we were given new data, a little more told, it was very interesting. And then everything was reduced purely to a war of people and the message "War - bad, you know?". And even this idea, I think, could be implemented much better.
After watching everything, I was upset. I changed my score from 10 to 7 and I’m not sure I want to recommend this series to everyone. Or maybe it's better to watch Season 1-3 and leave an open ending for yourself like the guys went to sea.
“Attack of the Titans” is a great example of how with due diligence, attention to detail and, of course, having a remarkable talent, within the framework of one series you can successfully combine several genres at once, making each of them work at the maximum.
The first season positioned the series as a cheerful action, but at the same time managed to correctly place the main acting pieces on the chessboard and lay the basic rules by which this world exists. What’s more, recent episodes have made it clear that Attack of the Titans is far more complex than it first seemed. The second season, consisting of only 12 episodes, developed and deepened the ideas and story arcs laid down by its predecessor. In the third season, palace intrigues gain strength, there is a taste of a detective and flashbacks appear, which make you look at many events differently. And here a powerful foundation is laid for the fourth season, which exploded with fireworks from powerful drama and epic action.
You can talk about the visual component for a long time and complimentary: the artists have tried their best, some shots are directly asked for as screenshots on the desktop. But even more I want to praise the people responsible for the selection of music. I’ll go right away and I won’t remember another series in which the soundtrack was so diverse, timely and multiplied emotions from what was happening on the screen. When dozens of fighters synchronously soar into the sky under cheerful metal, something breaks in the chest. And when another beloved character for the last time closes his eyes to a minimalistic sad melody - tears begin to pour themselves.
Because yes, the characters. There are many of them here, but they are different, interesting, causing emotions - from hatred to almost adoration. Needless to say, I watched the anime not alone, and at the end of the series, each of us had favorites, whose views we shared so much that at the end of the fourth season, when there was a split in the camp of the main characters, we almost hoarsely argued who was right. Is this not an indicator of how well ambiguous and powerful heroes turned out?
Speaking of ending. Spoiler, of course, I will not, but some applause that the finale was not merged, as in the same “Gospelion”, but made it emotionally strong, cutting off all options for sequels, and also perfectly fits into one of the main messages of the anime: as long as there is humanity, there will be wars.
It should be noted separately that "Attack of the Titans" - anime is very tough, even cruel. There are many deaths here, and in their mass they are terrible, painful and bloody. Therefore, it is unlikely to be suitable for everyone. If you are not afraid of cruelty, I highly recommend you to study. This is a piece of goods, such series come out too rarely to be missed.
I’m not a big connoisseur of anime, but still a few dozen (including both well-known and not the most popular) managed to watch. And ‘Attack of the Titans’ is definitely the best anime I’ve seen.

I will immediately say that I consider Attack an outstanding work in its genre. It's just that I'm getting old and it doesn't feel right. I do not agree with the authors in their intention. I just really think that in addition to valuable reflections, lore and entertaining quotes of everything that is in modern culture, there are lengths and repetitions of what has already been passed.
But still I disagree with those who say that in the end the authors were carried away by the evil nature of man. The thing is, it's just the opposite. The man here is justified. Heroes are sincere children who try to save those who are dear to them against circumstances. And on this path they make irreparable mistakes, stale. Or they go crazy. So people are actually driven by prometheism. Only titans are not metaphorical.
Nothing good comes of it naturally. By suspending the flywheel of violence by force, the mechanism cannot be completely broken. It cannot be broken by non-violence. And humanity is once again beautifully headed for defeat. But there is no verdict: because in the end there is hope.
We saw something like this during the two world wars. Today, with armed conflicts in many regions, the end of the attack can be understood as an anti-war statement or warning. I'm sure it won't be heard. But I hope there is hope.
Usually, if I don’t like something, I just won’t watch it anymore. This time the situation was unique, that I even decided to describe it so that I could save someone else.
Viewing this product, which I finished in the first season, by the way, caused me moral suffering, which was ready to go physical, if I did not drop in time. I treat anime exactly, I became interested because of the hype around AT, the highest ratings and places in all ratings, etc. So I decided to join and approached the viewing with high hopes for some revelation from the world of animation and fantasy.
Maybe that's why I was so disappointed. AT has two pluses.
1. Interesting filmed action scenes in which you immerse yourself in what is happening, and not get a seizure from ragged editing.
2. In the ENT initially a lot of incomprehensible, and a person with an inquisitive mind clings to this hook for finding answers. This point is a plus with a stretch, later I will explain why.
So, minuses.
1. It is a matter of taste, but apart from the fighting scenes, it is simply unpleasant to watch. Perhaps there's a hidden meaning to this from the author, but that people that titans are disgusting. Both appearance (drawing, design), and plot.
2. Characters do not cause any sympathy, empathy (yes, gray morality and all that, but still). Neither the main characters nor the secondary characters. Static, cardboard, poorly and lazily written, as well as drawn. The main trio is hysterical, quiet and a loser. If someone watches in the next room, you'll think it's house 2 with teenagers, where everyone is constantly yelling, squealing, fighting and swearing at each other, wildly overplaying, dramatizing, twisting pathos to the maximum in every dialogue.
3. Narrative. Torn, flabby, flashback, flash forward, scene in slow-mo like Zach snider not because she is here for some reason, but just the author wanted, not moving the plot dialogue hysterical pathos, the characters finally calmed down and it would seem possible to move on, but it’s time for the inner monologue of the hero, where he talks to himself everything that happened or what he feels, then a little voiceover that will explain something to you. At this point, you're already starting to boil and you want to scream that the chewed mole of this casino! I'm not a first-grader, I don't need ten minutes to show a hero's tantrum, then another five minutes to listen to his behind-the-scenes hysterical monologues about it in a circle. I realized that he had a traumatic event, do not then show the same flashbacks 5 times! I do not need to chew 10 times his inner reflection, which still does not change him somehow in the end, show the action, the interaction of the characters. And this is despite the fact that there is not a single hero that you would like to empathize with.
4. The second plus, it becomes a minus. As I have already described, the exhibition of the series is so flawed that in general, none of the characters interest you by the middle of the season. Someone cannon fodder, someone already knows what will happen to us for a long time. There are a lot of questions and even fewer answers about the story. You and the characters most of the time do not understand what is going on and who is motivated. What a wretched titans how humans got into this position etc, with each series of questions only more, the intrigue is almost King of Night level from Game of Thrones. Only these questions made me turn on the next series in anticipation of some answers.
Fortunately, I could no longer tolerate hysterical children with their mental disorders and pathos radical maximalism and just read the story to close the questions about ENT. The result, as in the IP, was disappointing. As if by the end, the author himself did not know how to finish everything and answer all his own questions, and the plot moves and arches were written somehow just to finish them already.
Over. Look at your fear and risk, but lower your expectations if there are any. Pleasure is hard to get. To come to the purifying catharsis through suffering will not work either. Just to suffer together with heroes - such a bulk.
Pain in the eyes from drawing, pain in the ears from screaming and dialogue, pain in the head from kringe and misunderstanding. For dessert, the pain is in a known place from the fact that the authors assess your emotional and ordinary intelligence at the level of the child.
I wonder if you’ve been watching the show for as long as 9 years. During this time, you change yourself, your life changes, your views on it, and your preferences in cinema change. I started watching this work back in 2014, when I was just 14 years old. At that time, I had just plunged into the world of anime, but I was already impressed by the terrifying, oppressive, yet addictive atmosphere of this series. As the years passed, my love for anime had subsided and then flared up again. But I never stopped watching The Attack of the Titans.
What is so special about this work, why has it become such a phenomenon in the world and taken a special place in my heart? There are many reasons.
Firstly, a brilliant, or otherwise you can not say, plot. The way the series maintains intrigue, masterfully deceives expectations, turns the plot 180 degrees, throws new riddles, for a long time will become a measure of quality among writers and screenwriters. Secondly, thanks to the talented animators of the WIT studio and the incomparable direction of Tetsuro Araki, an incredible plot is served in a magnificent wrapper, woven from simply roof-bearing combat scenes. Third, a luxurious soundtrack. A lot of calm and epic melodies have been on my playlist for a long time and deserve to be a new classic. And most openings are works of art that can be revised indefinitely.
It's a good thing I watched the Titan Attack ongoing. Waiting for a new series gave an additional suspense, and after 9 years you are amazed how it all began with a simple, seemingly apocalyptic world, where the boy wanted to avenge the death of his mother, and how much this story has changed in all this time.
About the ending... I liked her. Two and a half years ago, when the last chapter of the manga came out, there was a lot of resentment on the Internet about the ending. Despite the fact that I was anime-only (manga and comics do not digest), I still could not resist and slightly watched the ending of the manga, so I approximately knew how it would end. I watched the last episode and I wasn’t disappointed. You can see that Isayama had planned all this in advance, there was no outright absurdity. Yes, the finale is open, someone will consider it crumpled and precipitous, someone will find fault with some conventions, someone will think that it devalues all the events and actions of the heroes that happened before. But in my opinion, the essence of the cycle of violence is conveyed perfectly. Like in another excellent anime series Destiny/Inception, where the vicious protagonist wanted to use the power of the Holy Grail, an artifact capable of fulfilling any desire so that people would stop hating each other and fighting among themselves. To which one of the antagonists quite logically stated that this is a childish and naive dream, since aggression is inherent in human nature, and if it is changed, then humanity will cease to exist. So it is here; even if there is a very destructive conflict that will take an incredibly huge number of lives, and people will calm down for a while, natural aggression will eventually take over and the wars will continue.
Of course, here you can find disadvantages. In some places annoyed hypertrophied emotions of the characters. The hysterics and screams of the heroes did not bring much pleasure. In some places, the characters behaved a little strangely and not quite according to the setting. Plus, when the WIT studio refused to work on the fourth season because of too short terms, and MAPPA studio took up it, there was a noticeable deterioration in the animation of the battles (it looked quite decent in itself, but compared to the bar that the WIT studio raised, it still looked like a regression). However, in recent series, MAPPA still managed to come close to the WIT level.
But looking at the rest of the greatness, you understand that there is no absolute perfection anywhere and still this is a masterpiece and one of the best in the world.
10 out of 10
The series turned out to be quite ambiguous. On the one hand, not a template world, where their laws operate, there is a mystery and you think, what is behind all this? On the other, the show sagging. It is really long, very often catch yourself thinking that what is the secret, who are the titans from where and so on. We are beckoned by this, and then the half of the series or several episodes begin the internal vicissitudes of the bickering, and so on. At the same time, the series, on the one hand, as already mentioned, will be delayed, and on the other hand, it is difficult to watch it in the background, since in the first there are a lot of characters, and it seems you need to see their disclosure, and secondly, it is slowness - from time to time interspersed with the action of plot twists, etc. Also, the authors could not cope with the burden of a lot of seasonality, it is difficult to build a plot that would not contradict and devalue the first parts. Here the authors tried hard, but to the end could not. If in the beginning you watch a confrontation with simple titans, see them as a threat and a secret, then by the middle of the film it all goes away. In the first series, there were no weapons against the Titans, later it turns out that they can be put alone in dozens, where it was all in the beginning. Oh, yeah, then you couldn't make a tie. There are many things that spoil the overall impression. Well, the thoughts of the final season are banal and poorly considered in contrast. Like genocide is bad. This is already clear to everyone, but where the fine line is, where it is bad and possible, or always impossible, the heroes try not to fall into such conditions. Well, the ending itself devalues all the actions of the characters, everything turns out to be predetermined, and as you do not resist, if you are destined to be a hero, then even if you sleep constantly you will still be a hero. It's over.
As a result, with quite interesting ideas to implement until the end, they failed, and be the series at least half the size it at least looked cheerful, and so ragged and torn. The average series.
“Genocide is a manifestation of love and concern for friends.”
For a long time I thought how to build the structure of my expanded opinion about this work, when it is so multifaceted. It is multifaceted in a bad sense, for every season the direction of history has changed.
In the first season, this direction changes twice. First, it is the survival of mankind for a hundred years against extremely deadly and creepy titans, man-eating, then it turns out that people are involved in everything. As a result, all attention is focused on them, which leads to the depreciation of the titans in terms of viewership - they sharply ceased to pose a real threat.
The second season raises a lot of questions and not all of them are positive, in the sense that more often there was a negative question - "Why is that so?", which gradually formed my negative attitude towards the film.
The third season focuses on the internal problems of mankind, namely politics.
The fourth season is a radical change of direction, with more information and therefore more negative questions.
There are five main problems:
One. The main storyline, which was originally built on the rational structure of the narrative, i.e. a detailed explanation of the claimed world, goes into an irrational structure, because the legend becomes a reality.
Two. The main plot is built on a large number of flashbacks and various branches in order to add up the overall picture, namely the past with the present. This decision will entail a constant subsidence of the dynamics of the narrative and the emergence of situations in which you really want to know what will happen next, but you are not allowed to do this, because they begin to tell about another.
Three. If you can go from the present to the past, why not look into the future? And yes, the concept of the series “Lost” in person. Only if such scenario decisions in the cult American series worked on the plot, then they are not clear what is needed and only worsened the already leaky story.
Fourth. Point! How sad it is when an interesting idea and its original form spills over into a liberal mantra, a humanity that by its very nature breeds violence. A similar theme, repeated from film to film, is already sitting in the liver. Well, not an evil person by nature, you are idealists! If he were evil, there would be no man. Another thing that drives people is socioeconomic relations. At the beginning of the series there were glimpses that it will be about this, but in the end decided to once again repeat the market mainstream.
Five. Meaning! I am referring here to the specific purpose of this creation that the characters are striving for. In other words, the finale. In contrast to the essence, he is not sad, but rather extremely delusional. So delusional that even a fair number of anime fans, including manga, caused bewilderment. It can be expressed in the phrase: “Genocide is a manifestation of love and care for friends.”
This is what can be described in general terms. You can walk twice as much on any small thing, like the abolition of your own rules, for example, when you can not turn into a titanium with severed limbs, but then it becomes possible, etc.
Perhaps the above is enough to understand the extreme overestimation of this work. The reason for the popularity is obvious - a huge mass of infantile public, which was qualitatively given to emotions, thereby turning off the already weak critical thinking.
To be fair, a couple of scenes were really good and will stay in my memory for a long time. It is also worth noting the excellent action scene. But all this, alas, is only a form with stupid content.
Yes, oh, those memories... a wonderful first season, plotting, getting to know the characters, their tragedies. It is not yet clear what is happening, but even then it felt like it would be creepy!
And indeed, the first season did not cheat, everything is verified, everything is fine. And the end, and generally bombshell turned out.
The second season, in my opinion, was worse, but some of the revealed secrets and character development still attract attention.
The third season raises the bar again, everything is also interesting to watch.
And now, finally, the final fourth season, which should put all the points, reveal all the secrets and arrange a grinding and epochal finale of the cult work! We are finally being told about the ‘enemies’ and why. New intrigues and enchanting events are becoming more and more interesting!
But at the very end, the ultimate final, something went wrong. .
Here, in fact, I want to talk a little about the final finals (yes, it so happened that the final final, lasted for months) attacks of the titans (about its very end).
Because I personally would be willing to forgive Isayama all the inconsistencies and even holes in the plot. Anything but this plot. . .
It seems that Mr. Isayama himself hated his creation and all the spectators, who for many years watched the heroes and experienced with them.
For how it was possible to drain this wonderful title into the toilet, I just cannot understand.
I will try to speak briefly (as much as possible) and not spoil anything, but nevertheless, to convey my feelings and deepest indignation regarding this, with the permission to say "final".
My main and almost only claim to the last episode is that what happened in it at the very end, and then also shown during the credits, simply devalues the whole work. Here literally all the seasons and all the characters thrown into the trash, as well as the humanity of the universe of Titanic attack.
It just became so disgusting from what I saw that I want to throw a red word here, but, you can not. Although this so-called "final" really deserves it.
I would probably accept the episode if the main character of the work of Eren Yeager, the author would award a diametrically opposite fate in relation to what happened to him in the end.
Well, just because he really deserves that (diametrically opposite) narrative. We are with him all seasons (with this three in particular - Eren, Mikasa and Armin). We see the plot twists and turns they face, we see their steps, actions, emotions, thoughts, sufferings. And you sympathize with them, empathize with them, understand the course of their thoughts and actions on a global scale regarding what they eventually faced.
So yes, all of them, Eren in particular, just didn't deserve that kind of ending. . .
But well, even so, I am even ready to accept this catastrophe with regard to Eren, but the scene that comes after the credits, she just shoots you twice in the forehead (to be sure) and says:
'What were you doing?! Did you try?! Patient?! Walked to the end!! Did you have privations?! Tragedy?! Did you fight hard?! Did you dream?! Lost friends?! Were you in hell?! Have you experienced hellish suffering?!
I don't care about the light bulb, but it's corruptible. Embrace yourself.
Well, just take and show in the credits at least the diametrically opposite and there will be a completely different effect!
Otherwise, literally everything that was done by Eren, his friends and his team and himself, is devalued. And so in all seasons, no matter how beautiful they are, there's just no point. Everything is lost, everything is lost.
With the same success, Mr. Isayama could have published a single page of his manga and written on a black background in huge white characters - "all perishable..."
Yes, this is exactly what the so-called “final finals” led to, for which there were so many hopes among fans of the attack.
And the point here is not in my personal desire for some positive or negative outcome in relation to this or that, no, just the author devalues everything in general. All his work and all the actions of his heroes.
And all you need to slightly adjust the end of the final, or remake the scene, which goes during the credits on the opposite and then again makes sense literally everything.
And now, after so many months of waiting, and if we talk about the 4th season, even (!) years (!) and we get this all?
Is that the author's joke or what? I just want to ask Mr. Isayama: what have we done as spectators? In other words, for what?
Honestly, I really hope that one day the author will be tormented by his conscience and he will make this flawed end of the finale into what it should be.
To spend time in adulthood on an anime series, not being a fan of the genre, you need a very good reason. I decided to try last year, buying the status of the main anime of our time and sky-high ratings on IMDB and Kinopoisk. Looking ahead, the other day I watched the last episode and never regretted.
In Japanese culture, and in anime in particular, I am fascinated by the ability to look at the pressing problems of humanity through a fantastic prism. All the famous and popular anime from Death Note to Miyazaki’s films, to put it mildly, do not differ in realism, but this is their beauty. That's the description of this series is not too attractive at first glance - humanity is fighting humanoid giants who do not have intelligence and eat people. But behind this seemingly stupidity lies much more.
What's so good about the Titan Attack? First of all, it's beautiful. Amazing audiovisual series, dynamic action scenes and aesthetics in each frame. Secondly, very carefully written and voluminous characters. What is one main character Eren Yeager, who in fact is both the protagonist and antagonist. And thirdly, it is a very, very multifaceted work. Starting as a story about a group of teenagers who survived the tragedy, the narrative gradually becomes more ambitious and fundamental, growing first into a military-political epic, and then into a powerful philosophical statement.
As a result, if you are not afraid to try something new and unusual, then this is a very good option. Well, if you are a fan of anime, it is not for me to tell you about the “Attack of the Titans”.

“Our world is cruel, but at that time it is so beautiful” Mikasa Ackerman (c)
“Attack of the Titans” is without a doubt one of the most popular and significant anime in the world. I started watching AT in 2021 and read the manga in parallel.
Captures the spirit from the first series and does not let go until the very end. Is it over? That's probably the main idea. Everything is cyclical, history repeats itself, and no matter how hard you try, you can not avoid the written.
All the way was worried with the heroes, trying to understand who the hero and who the villain. But there is no black and white, everyone has his own tragedy and his own reasons. I’m lying if I say that I didn’t want another ending, it turned out too vital, but that’s the whole point.
I'm not going to write the story, just look. This series has won the hearts of millions of viewers, perhaps will win yours.
To sum up: You can love “Attack of the Titans” or hate, but it will not leave you indifferent.

First to 'Attack of the Titans' I had a mixed attitude. The first couple of seasons, if she was impressive, it was rather a bloody and incredibly spectacular action, but annoyed with periodic overly emotional (on the verge of psychosis) replicas of the protagonist.
But then the plot began to develop dramatically. The world in which the action takes place was not only incredibly developed and worked out (including borrowed script and visual techniques from Scandinavian mythology), but also in places mirroring the key and most terrible events from our world history, and even surprisingly accurately predicting modern events (albeit shown through some metaphorical prisms). And now it becomes really clear that multi-figure ' Attack of the Titans' with all the large number of its developing characters, a huge fictional universe, a thoughtful scenario and large-scale events - perhaps really the main anime of the era, full ' Game of Thrones' in the anime genre, as it was dubbed in numerous reviews of critics.
From the skin of more or less understandable shōnen, the series gets out somewhere in the middle of the second season. The scale of the action increases, the protagonist noticeably develops and changes before the eyes, although his so-called transformation still becomes too sharp and catches the viewer by surprise. And in parallel with it, other heroes develop, which are no less important for the common story. And even the pathetic scalability of the significance of the characters (who in their replicas are times ' save the world') is justified by the scale of their role in subsequent events of great importance.
Genre orientation ' Attacks of the Titans' also not so unambiguous. This is a stunning military horror (at the sight of these disgusting and ugly crazy titans and the realization of the helplessness of people really becomes creepy), and a fantasy action movie, and a saga about the growing up of yesterday’s children, and a detective (the mystery of the nature of these very titans is one of the most intriguing storylines of the series), and even a pseudohistorical epic. I am silent about the visual delights of this project, in the final series of which you can even find a beautiful reference to the immortal masterpiece of Steven Spielberg & #39; Schindler's List', the presence of which here is more than justified. After all, what ' Attack of the Titans' is a serious project, and not a teenage cartoon, it seems to be trying to prove us with the opening credits.
Visual techniques are used here quite a lot, but in particular pay attention to the clarity and detailed drawing of each frame (especially when compared with classical shōnens of the middle zeros, like the same ' Naruto' or ' Shaman King');), the statics of the most rigid and visually spectacular frames, similar to skillful engraving, but with the help of audiovisual effects adding to their effect. Well, about the bloody and most brutal fragments, we must say separately - firstly, this has not yet been shown to us in the anime, and secondly, these episodes are not performed in any treshevo format (a la & #39; Man-chainsaw'), but as tragic and dramatic as possible.
As for the development of the script and the development of the story, both the manga and the adaptive screenwriters worked hard. First of all, the references to the notorious tragic pages of history like Sakoku (Japan’s self-isolation from the outside world) of the First World War, Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust and even the strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are impressive. And how many so-called “Chekhov rifles” & #39, the most significant of which were discussed in detail in the video essay KinoPoiska! And ' will shoot ' they are at the most unexpected moment, evenly distributed not even in individual seasons, but in general throughout the series. Thus, ambiguous hints can backfire shocking scenario as early as a couple of seasons, but you will definitely remember where you saw it, or see the corresponding flashback and marvel at your inattention or shortsightedness.
Here, such topics as Nazism and xenophobia, revanchism and the thirst for historical justice are raised and discussed from different angles and angles, and all this is considered from different points of view, allowing the viewer to think about these difficult moral questions. The moral dilemmas that arise before the characters, as well as the serious discussion and discussion of their actions in numerous forums, already demonstrate the best possible seriousness and ambiguity of the work done, and therefore the interest of the viewer to the product.
Although ' Attack of the Titans' and the product does not want to be called - the creators literally put their soul into it, everything from the picture to the soundtrack is beautiful here, and, we can say, it is a full-fledged work of art. It is amazing to praise the anime series to such an extent, but it deserves it.
In short, it is worth mentioning the long-awaited finale - the most logical and verified ending, which can not be called a happy ending, but the most recognizable and predictable. I don’t know if this is good or bad – the creators did without surprises, but the most dramatic.
Before the most important mix, the anime authors gave answers to questions about the origin of the Titans. What we were prepared for in the first 3 seasons was turned upside down in Season 4 to show Eran’s true destiny. Everything has become so tangled that it is no longer clear who is a friend and who is an enemy. Betrayal, squabbles and the constant conflict of the Eldians and Marlians - everything loses meaning when the roar of the earth comes.
Scale and imminent destruction. Events are not going well, and Eren’s message becomes clear. We remember being told the truth about Emir in Season 4, but who is she and what is she? From the point of view of ancient descendants, the series reveals the purpose of the ancestor to show the true goals of the titans in the world. The Paradise was only an outpost, while the armed forces developed and became a threat.
What to do when the forces of the titans are not enough to withstand the military power? Right! Go against everyone. The anime raises philosophical questions of life and death, demonstrating the main goal of Eren Yeager. The plot wanders from the idea of doing the right thing by playing a gambit, but this can lead to the destruction of mankind.
Attempts to stop the titans give us bright and colorful battles of familiar titans, planning for the UPM, experiences and drama. The realization of what is happening does not immediately become clear: here we have huge titans, and here are the remnants of the intelligence corps along with the titans-friends who need to stop the hum of the earth.
The final episode, divided into three chapters, is more tense. We already see the goal, but what if everything that we have been preparing for this time, along with the main characters, of course, now have to be crossed out? Hajime Isayama, of course, masterfully turns the plot (once again already), but when you look with tension at the attempts of the heroes to stop the Titans, when you worry about all the characters you love, and you are given, suddenly, an alternative ending, then you feel disappointed.
Epic battles, fear of defeat, inability to do anything force Mikasa to take a desperate step. We cannot say that the heroes did not try anything else: the chief parliamentarian Armin is trying to stop the destruction of mankind (first as a man, then as the Colossal Titan), but we see that not everything is so simple. Simultaneously with large-scale battles in reality, the plot immerses us in the philosophical understanding of this world inside the tree of memory.
Reflections on life and death reveal another mystery about the origin of the Titans. We've been following things since the beginning of time, but then everything that happened before doesn't make sense. What is life? What does it mean? And then what happens? Together with Professor Zeek Yeager, we are immersed in a maze of images, thoughts, memories, awareness. Honestly, an offshoot to this level generally lowers the bar of scale. Yes, this is important, this is the basis of everything, the beginning of all beginnings, but it gets lost in its simplicity, as if telling us: “Forget all that action”, it does not matter.
You know what? We've been going through the first season, watching the characters evolve, watching the force, the struggles, getting the world divided into those who have the power of the Titans and who don't, surviving with the characters their loss, so what? To say it didn't make sense?
What a depreciation of emotions. After a crushing and glorious battle, we are greeted by a plan and understanding of everything. We not only see flashbacks, we just bring Easter eggs on the tray. Turns out this, it turns out this. The finale is certainly beautiful, sad, heavy (particularly from the realization of the end of the story as a whole), but it crosses all aspirations and flushes Eren’s motivation down the toilet. Naturally, we see what he became, we see what influenced him and his actions, but this is the story of the struggle against forces many times greater than human capabilities, and then everything ended like this.
Emotions go overboard. But there's no sense of satisfaction. It didn't have to end like this. Rather, the first part of the 40th episode of "Battle of Heaven and Earth" perfectly ended, but after the second ("Long Sleep") and the third ("To the Tree on that Hill") parts, we are shown that the first part of the series is not the same.
In any case, this is a cult anime that impressed the whole world. Even opponents of anime as a genre appreciated the plot itself. He's interesting, he's intriguing. That's great. The ending, of course, was different, but in the end we were presented with a beautiful product – “Attack of the Titans”.
There lived three comrades, a friend, a fellow tribesman: Eren, Mikasa and Arumich. They were about 9-10 years old, they frolic in the square, got local guards, got tumaks from local bullies, and then Mikasa came and the bullies got in return. They lived in a country behind huge walls that protected everyone from the so-called titans, who wanted to eat everyone and everything, but were not intelligent enough to disturb those who lived behind high walls. And suddenly, out of nowhere, a huge titanium ambal appears and destroys the first wall in the outpost city, then a ten-meter man turtle appears and breaks the gate leading to the first level of the main wall. The Titans trample and eat people, and the three aforementioned creatures of the human race are deprived of their parents and become refugees evacuated beyond the second level of the wall. Eren, as usual, shouts that he will kill everyone, in this case all the Titans. Well, the other two aren't going to reveal themselves as individuals throughout the series, so it doesn't matter what they did there. Importantly, all three went cadets to learn how to fly on devices that work almost like Spider-Man's web, only it's not sticky but sharp and with hooks that cling to walls. Of course, they want to go to the intelligence corps, where the most people die, to find out what's out there, or to kill all the titans. As they say, we will find out.
Ahh, no words, only emotions. How would I describe the events throughout the series? Mega Godzilla and the armored Godzilla with an army of dinosaurs attacked the island of lizards. And the lizards learned to fly, but it did not help them much and then one lizard turns into a very aggressive Godzilla, fights back and the rest of the Godzillas escape. Lizards climb into their archives and learn that in fact all lizards can turn into dinosaurs, but only a few have superpowers and intelligence and are Godzillas. And in fact, the lizards oppressed the ancient Rus for a long time and therefore the Ruses became angry, captured the families of lizards with superpowers and they began to shank their brothers so that they did not chop their family, and then one of the special lizards agreed with the ancestor lizard to give her all the strength to kill all the Rus, and she turned into an aggressive Ultra MegaGodzilla, which controls all Mega Godzilla and went to tramp the Rus. But the lizards became emotional and decided to save the Rus. Now replace all nouns and proper names with anime character names and pretentious titles and get something more romantic. It is impossible to love this work if you have watched at least one fantasy series of a non-anime nature. Such a primitive division... Such a primitive twisting of the plot in order for the fantasists to paste a video with an analysis of the philosophy of the great & #39; Attacks of the Titans' which reports a primitive base about the fact that war is bad, racial division is bad, and there is no meaning to life and it is not necessary to invent it, you just need to live... Have you watched all this for 4 long seasons? Not right away. I watched it because my favorite girlfriend made me.
The atmosphere of the series, which will be praised by the average viewer ' Attacks of the Titans' and the truth is good. Mostly thanks to the funny epic choral soundtrack, where they sing something in Kazakh. But it is too monotonous and not always inserted where necessary. And the visual part of the series is consistently good at everything. However, despite the quality of the animation, the detail of the drawing and the beauty of the landscapes, I do not like the overall color scheme. Personally, I like something darker. For example, my favorite ' Death Note'.
As for the characters, only one of the permanent faces here is well revealed, and the rest are either regulars who only know how to shout comments about what you can see on the screen with their charisma, or too primitive examples of anime characters types: a strong, dexterous and skillful woman with pokerface, a bandit who became a mentor who showed his valor, a femboy who becomes a gigachad by the end of the series, etc. However, up until a certain point, a character called Zeke was pretty to me, and Eren would be a cool character if he were in the movie, because his development is terribly slow, but abrupt. So the question is, why is he screaming? All the characters in this anime are constantly screaming, screaming, screaming and screaming as if they had one foot in the mouth of the titan. Well, not funny. Why this artificial heat of emotions?
My verdict. Watching anime for Eren Yeager is not worth it. But if you have already seen it, then you will have to be a fan of it to somehow justify watching this anime masterpiece.
Maybe I’m going to give a rough base, but if the love for a character is determined only by the amount of time spent on it, then such a character is terribly bad. That is why all the characters in this anime, except two, can be called bad.
The ending, by the way, is also the most primitive in morality. And what happens in this world at the end of the series, albeit understandable, but not very interesting.
The work is to spit and tear down from the primitive heat of emotions.
Everything I say here is my subjective opinion. Possible spoilers, be careful!
In my opinion, this is a landmark work for the entire anime industry. It showed how to lead the narrative, how to keep the viewer to the very end and most importantly, in my opinion, will not slide into the end, what many anime and non-anime works sin, and given that Attack is one of the few works that has ended, it adds to his points in the importance of his existence.
This is an anime that may not attract anything at first, a common story about how the apocalypse against humanity began. The story of becoming stronger and achieving a goal. But! From the beginning of the series, we are shown one very important thing, the importance of which will be revealed in the future, as well as an explanation of the realities of this world, information about specific events / weapons / locations, as well as musical accompaniment. Very few can boast of the fact that all optings and endings can be so dynamic and, most importantly, each of them has its own meaning and message. Since the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth season, the series refuses to play by the rules established in my opinion and begins to trample its path, which in the end he successfully succeeded. I was not personally acquainted with the original source (i.e. manga), and therefore I did not know what would happen next and watched all the series in chronological order. It seems to me that no anime now dares to raise such acute and serious topics. Many anime-' works' are not capable of anything like this at all.
For me personally, this anime stands in the corner of honorary works of all countries, genres and works mandatory for viewing and familiarization. I confess that I watched the whole series in April in one breath in about a couple of weeks, and in order not to torment myself with anticipation of the release of the final episode, I read the source (manga) and the result was already known to me, but this did not prevent me from waiting with trepidation inside and what kind of adaptation will come out and immediately I will say that the result did not disappoint me.
I estimate this work at 10/10, and I do not regret that back in April I put such an assessment in advance. My expectations were justified, I am pleased with what I saw and proud that the author survived and finished his work with dignity. Bravo!
p.s. I will very much expect that someday there will be works on par with this, or even surpass it. It is possible that for me the path in the knowledge of anime series has just begun, with watching its most important connectors, but one thing I will say for sure. The attack of the Titans left a mark in history as one of the main anime series, which was watched by many and experienced completely different emotions, from anger to incredible euphoria.
p.s. (2). The opinion is subjective and the author of the review is not concerned with disagreement with others. There will never be such a thing that a particular work likes everyone without exception. There will always be lovers and haters. I tried to convey my thoughts with a minimum of spoilers. Don't spoil, be human!
The finale of the “attack of the Titans”, whether the “Chekhov rifles” justified themselves, and whether we needed this end.
An hour and a half action drama in a permanent location, after 5 months of waiting, covered with the formalism of our reality.
The end of the plot twists, the degradation of maturation, the murder of the best representative of the principle of Chekhov’s gun and the knockout “cliffhanger” (the reception leaving the denouement open, until the sequel appears). Here, the sensations that we have been waiting for for for a long 10 years...? how not, look at it non-dually, break the illusion of superficial perception.
It is pointless to look at the answer in this riddle without understanding its condition. That's what I felt in the first minute after watching this epilogue, "I should revisit the last 2 seasons." In fact, this is exactly the ending that this story needed. The accent of the main character is reduced from Eren, and Mikasa enters the throne with Armin who is not reaching her. The foundation of the entire population of the planet in the form of the ancestor Emir became another joke in the universe of Titans, which will not cause smiles on the faces, but only begin its new long bud, as long as the spirit of Eren lives in the souls of the fallen heroes. The authors don’t want us to think about dead heroes, there are more important things. Genocide, manifested in the series by squeezing the springs in the souls of the people, directly brings our world closer, with this fairy tale, nothing and no one is able to stop the “roar of the earth”, there will come a time when everything must change, but there is no way to change in the end.
The authors made us watch this series continuously so we could remember. We will remember every hero who survived, gradually forgetting the bitterness of past losses, we will remember the unreal action in battles that takes place at 120 km / h, with sound effects that do not let us go, we will remember this anime as if we are L, and it is Kira, and for those who need more, the seemingly closed end remains not closed. .
It is hard for me to write about this anime, because I started watching it 2 years ago and planned to finish it the year before last, but the endless transfers and divisions of the last season into endless parts did their job and in the end the impression of a good work was very much smeared. Even envy those who will watch this series for the first time after its long-awaited completion and will be able to appreciate the whole inextricably. And I will have to collect all my thoughts about him pieces from different years.
Perhaps it is worth starting with the fact that Attack of the Titans is certainly a special anime. Those who left to watch it after the first series, having decided that this is a thrash for the sake of thrash and the whole plot is limited to the confrontation of people with titans, I can only sympathize that they missed such a work. The attack is much deeper. Its multi-level symbolism can be envied by most films and TV series. The main feature of this anime is that once the viewer begins to think that he understands what the essence is, everything turns upside down. And such brain explosions occur at least once a season.
And in the end, everything comes to what, in my opinion, greatly pushed the boundaries of the genre of shonen (or seinen), becoming in fact its evolution. I can’t go into details because there will be spoilers, but the transformation of Eren Yeager, who at first was presented in the same way as Naruto, Luffy or any other typical protagonist of anime like this, and then turned into what he turned into – it’s a great progress and break the pattern. No one has done this before, as far as I can tell, and there is no courage in this Isayam.
Of course, in the process of viewing it seems that the changes in the main character are too radical and sharp, but, believe me, the ending puts everything in its place and explains all his motivation, making the audience, who had time to hate him for season 4, fill with regret.
And this is only talking about the role of the Attack of Titans in the anime, and how many allusions to the real story, parallels with our world (unfortunately), philosophy, symbolism, homages to other works of art, working out characters, thinking through the world, prescribing lore, attention to detail, Chekhov’s guns and references (so much so that by the opening and end of the first season you can understand how the last one will end).
This anime behind the screen of another shock-content with excessive violence and a seemingly banal post-apocalypse story (a la zombie horror, only mad titans instead of the living dead) talks about the nature of war, raises serious topics about the fate of mankind and, no matter how clichéd it sounds, the meaning of life, erases any boundaries between good and evil, makes morality so gray, and the characters so ambiguous that it is difficult to take one side and have to rush from one to another. Attitude to the main characters manages to change several times - the author very skillfully plays with emotions and can make you experience conflicting feelings for the same character. It is obvious that Isayama knew from the very beginning to the smallest detail how his story will end, and systematically summed it up - I love this elaboration. Find some plot holes and blunders in his plot is extremely difficult, and the overall picture looks almost flawless.
A lot of people were unhappy with the finale, but I was really hoping it would be like the manga. And, fortunately, although it was not without changes, the creators of the anime had the courage to transfer the essence of the original to the screen. I’m happy with the ending – it’s exactly what it should be. I couldn't have imagined her otherwise. It contains, perhaps, a depressing, but very realistic and mundane statement, with which I agree.
Of course, I can’t call this anime perfect. While watching, I had certain complaints about it: an excessive number of characters in the first half, all of which are impossible to follow, palace intrigues in season 2, where there were almost no Titans and interest was not so great, and the overall overload of the plot was felt. But after finishing the review, these shortcomings seem justified. After reviewing it, I may no longer see it as a flaw.
I didn’t like the 3D that started with Season 4. In other technical terms, everything is fine: visually the most beautiful of all the anime series I have seen, the music is amazing, both the original soundtrack and the songs used, and the graphics (that is, the drawing itself) are very pleasant. So, I can forgive that too.
But what I can't forgive is the studio, which just godlessly stretched and gave this anime to the last drop. Pro & #39; the final finale of the Titan Attacks' already the memes ceased to be funny and before the release of the last episode, all the negativity and righteous anger from such an attitude outweighed expectations and clearly blurred the impression of the ending. It was too late – we should have finished in 2021! However, in the end, and this does not matter, because the next generations of fans of the Attack (and it will definitely become a classic) will not feel this problem, watching everything at once, how it should be done.
In the end, I can confidently say that Attack of the Titans is by far the best anime I’ve watched. There is, of course, the notorious Naruto, but I love him more with my heart, and I understand from my mind that the Attack is superior in many ways. I am not afraid to even call it an anime masterpiece, and its author a genius. I will definitely read the manga and review the series, and for now I will put the first ten in a long time. Yes, I understand that maybe this anime doesn't deserve the highest praise in some ways, but I feel I have to give it to him. What other anime will I put 10, after all?
10 out of 10
I first watched Attack of the Titans in 2013 at a very young age. I am happy and saddened that the ten-year era I have watched closely is over. And I think it's the best piece of art about war.
Attack of the Titans is a multi-genre work with a rich, interesting world. But first of all, this anime catches the fact that it asks for the viewer eternal philosophical questions, such as the question of friendship, love, patriotism and, of course, war. The latter theme is particularly vividly reflected in the fourth and final season and is shown beautifully. Neither side really wants war. They just wanted to protect themselves and their values. But instead of agreeing, they tried to destroy the causes of their potential losses.
The attack of the Titans is designed to show the viewer that no ideology, no earth, no fear, no past is a reason to kill people like them.
I am very saddened by the relevance of this work. Unfortunately, in our country, many people, especially the older generation, do not recognize animation and anime as an independent genre that can be relevant for an adult. For nothing. Perhaps if more people saw this work of art, the world would shed less blood.
In addition to the story, I want to talk about the technical aspects of the work. The first three seasons were drawn by Wit Studio and the fourth by Mappa. I rarely heard any complaints about the drawing from Wit, but in the fourth season there was a lot of 3D, which does not like the anime community so much. It is worth noting that in the final episode, the graphics are simply stunning, with minimal use of 3D.
Voiceover. She's beautiful... There's just nothing to say. You can see that the whole project was worked by people who sincerely love it and invest as much as possible in their business. I highly recommend watching the anime in the original.
What's the result? A work of art that went beyond anime and conquered the world. Deservedly.
Here comes the final episode 'Titan Attacks'. I rarely write reviews or comments, but I could not pass by.
For the first time I watched the very first series at the end of 2021, and the beginning seemed to me as clichéd and stereotypical as possible for the anime - not that I am an expert in the genre, but the formula ' a world different from ours (in which we get), a bit of mysticism and mystery (in the face of those very titans), plus emotional, if not hysterical characters (it even repulsive)' created the impression of a standard series, in which you especially do not expect to find any new meanings. At some point I wanted to stop watching, but curiosity took over.
I am very happy with this and I do not regret it.
First of all, because thanks to this work, I once again understand what art is.
The characters of the work, if you look at it, have the right to hypertrophied emotions shown in the beginning. And the world of the work by evil irony is arranged exactly like ours. Ideal is the phrase of the protagonist-antagonist Eren Yeager ' And indeed... we are quite the same'.
I am glad that from time to time things come out that can surprise and amaze, and the Attack of the Titans unequivocally applies to them, since its output is very timely to reflect the events taking place in our world.
What is art to me? First of all, the opportunity to look in the mirror of our world and see the problems that we have, each and every one of us. And think about their solution. Art does not go to extremes and does not directly tell what is good and what is bad. But allows the viewer to reason, draw conclusions and think thoughts for himself ' what would happen if' And in this regard ' Attack of the Titans' perfectly copes with the task, leaving (at least at first) most viewers at the end with a feeling of ' wrong' the end of the story.
It is hoped that people will really think about it and remember the high cost of their lives, the lives of others, and in general the value of any life as such. The consequences of your actions and actions.
10 out of 10
Thank you to the creators for this wonderful world and its heroes.
From the very first frame of the first series to the last word in the titles
I’ve been familiar with this work since the beginning, even before the letters turned into pictures. Yes, then it did not amaze the imagination, but managed to sit in the heads of millions of viewers, including mine. What is there, my old-school father watched it with me with ecstasy - so many authors managed to tell and show what dreams lead to and what realities promise us. The characters are revealed so well that each of them becomes almost your own at the end of the viewing. History makes both rejoicing and shocking, because it is very generous with cruelty in all its glory. Everything is cruel there, the main idea at the very beginning is that everything wants to kill you and to survive, you have to try.
The epic of events is like the brightest and most powerful blockbuster or movie disaster, everything that can float in your head about what can cause goosebumps and not let go of days on a fly-by - everything is here. Each season somehow surprises, somewhere more, and somewhere less, and these waves introduce into a kind of trance - you look and can not stop, because the main highlight is the story itself, as the author, as if trying to repeat the feat of the not-unknown anime & #39; Naruto' tried to tell about the lives of children, but in the end it is already adult men and women who can decide the fate of the world.
' Breathtaking' - this is only a fraction of what I experienced when watching / reading this work (yes, there is also a manga - an analogue of any comics, but only ' in Japanese ' - there is much even tougher than we were shown here). I am immersed in the story with all my heart, it will remain with me for many more years, it is easy to remember, it is just as easy to recommend to the most sophisticated viewer, even those who are not used to pampering themselves with Japanese animation, considering all this ' cartoons'. But for some reason, these cartoons are sometimes on the head above many films, on which enormous money is spent. And all because drawing, you can paint anything you want - perhaps this magic and catches. Cartoons... yes, maybe, but I prefer adult themes, new stories, epic and heartbreaking and with a lot of travel – all this is here.
So it's been a long journey, and I'm so happy to have spent so much time in it, to get to know all these characters and this small and then immense world, and how cool they ended the story, there's not a single question or regret left. Only humility to the fact that there will be something inevitable, the same as the course of life in their world and our world.
If I could put a score above 10, I would be happy to put it, because it is just a masterpiece and, fortunately, my opinion is shared by millions of people around the world.
My recommendation to you guys.
Why is Attack of the Titans the main movie event of the world?
I watched the Titans attack today.
Before I was imprisoned for this masterpiece, I had not followed the world of anime for a long time.
What can I say?
It shows the pain of our civilization.
It is amazing how in animation fits such an epic meaning, against which the cinema for the most part fades.
I realized that animation is much easier to scale for tasks that will be very difficult for the movie.
Simply put, animation is the most accessible exit of a plot from the imagination into the world of matter.
The topic of the eternal hatred of peoples and Nazism, in a world where subsequent generations very easily forget past experience, is more relevant than ever.
Similar meanings and their realization (Sasuke and Eron Jaeger are revealed in the end in a similar way being both antagonists and protagonists), but scenes of people starting genocide, the power of propaganda and isolation out of fear and prejudice are no longer so naively shown.
The entire cycle of the release of this Saga took 10 years, and the first series was released in 2014.
Very cool.
Few people will deny that 'The Attack of the Titans' is a cultural phenomenon, a kind of anomaly among other animes. Some of the highest ratings from viewers and critics; a huge fan base; interest sustained for nearly a decade. All this has come to an end. To the end of a good one? Well, it's like watching.
It is difficult to say something about this anime that has not been said before, but I will try to compress it all for the casual reader. ' The Attack of the Titans' is a story about a cruel and mysterious world, and about the tragic fates of people who find themselves in it; this work touches on a variety of topics - from banal friendship and family, to military duty and intolerance to others. All this is decorated with an outstanding visual style (which can appeal even to those who turn their noses from anime), stunning musical accompaniment with the work of voice actors, as well as good (though not always) animation. And all this, it would seem, adds up to a literally perfect work. But, alas, everything is not as bright and rosy as it might seem (return to the title of the review).
While the first half of the series is a very strong and dramatic story, working perfectly in itself, the second half breaks under the weight of their own ambitions. Taking on more complex themes, adding a bunch of new characters, and trying to wrap it all up in a complex and fascinating scheme, the author simply does not have time, or rather does not know how to do it correctly. And the closer we get to the end of the work, the more holes, questions, flaws and oddities arise. As a result, the finale of the work, on which so many hopes were pinned, turned out to be confused, indistinct, and yes - disappointing. And the author himself, in the words of one of the heroes, himself admits this, saying that he is ' just a fool who got too much power / power, with which he did not think what can be done' And that's sad.
And after such a final, it is difficult for me to fit ' Attack' into the echelon of great 10/10 projects. This is not true, and the author confirms it. But even after all this, I can’t call it a bad work. This is still a worthy story that can be recommended for familiarization. But, in the end, we just need to understand and accept that this is not the ideal we were looking for.
7 out of 10
A broken heart and the imposition of the situation on the real world.
I started watching when I was 12, when there were more puzzles and holes than answers. Who are the Titans? Where are they from?
After a long time, half my life, I watched the final series with tears. Even joke about ' final ' I don't want to.
Everything that happens in anime is easily and simply superimposed on the real world. Heartbreaks with each death, because even the secondary characters are revealed as if they continue to exist the entire universe.
Most of the characters are children who have lost their childhood. They're all easy to understand. Jae Mikasa's fluctuations, which I find inexcusable, I understand.
Eren Yeager is a beautiful protagonist and antagonist in one person. And as I grew older, I was the one who understood him. And at the end of the fourth season, this understanding was explained by the situation in the world. I wanted to cry. And she cried.
I struggle with the division of his views and ' the end does not justify the means'. The first anime in my life in principle and the anime that will forever remain my home.
Have a good trip, Eren.
High ratings motivated my interest in watching this anime series when choosing from a number of other applicants. It seemed that the initial interesting seed has great potential, but the template of the story, the predictability of many moments, the absence of charismatic characters, the excessive impulsivity of the main characters - then in battle, then in moaning - by the middle of the series bored. If the excessive scale and protractedness of Naruto is compensated by unique stories of characters and personalities, and drags the unfolding story and problems, then there is no titanic effort in the script. People eat cows, Titans eat people, it would seem a natural course of nature, but despite the fact that specialized groups easily jump on walls, wielding swords, against giant titans they did not think to dig a tunnel in a hundred years. So it turns out that people are pushed from wall to wall, and they all dream of revenge and genocide of the Titans. In addition, the excessive fascination of Japanese series about the special selection of some characters and their special ability causes boredom. I want to see a deep drama in TV series not for children, and not the cult of animeshek.
Titan Attack: Boring or Underrated? Addressing negative aspects
'Attack of the Titans' is an anime series that evokes many emotions among viewers. The interweaving of complex intrigue and dynamic fighting scenes makes it exciting, but according to you, the plot can sometimes be delayed. Undoubtedly, the series has its moments when the tension seems to go down. However, this is also part of the structure of the series, in which each twist has its own significance for the development of the plot. The variety of characters and their emotional experiences add depth and realism to this fantastic world.
Let’s take a look at some of the potential negative aspects of the anime series 'Attack of the Titans'.
1. Protracted plot: One of the main drawbacks that viewers highlight is the length of the plot. The long period of time it may take to reveal key aspects of the plot can cause a loss of interest among viewers. Sometimes it seems that events do not move forward, but develop on the spot.
2. Repeated elements: The series tends to use repetitive elements, such as certain dialogues or visual techniques, which can induce a sense of déjà vu and monotony. This can lead to fatigue of viewers and the desire to miss some scenes.
3. Slow resolution of intrigue: In 'Attack of the Titans' there is often a long wait for the resolution of intrigue. Viewers sometimes have to wait a long time to get answers to questions that may arise after key events. This can reduce your viewing satisfaction.
4. Infodumping and complexity: The series presents a complex world with many characters and plot intricacies. However, sometimes information can be fed to viewers at once, which can cause confusion and difficulty in understanding. This is especially true for new viewers who may feel lost.
5. Losing focus on the main characters: The series focuses on different characters, and sometimes the main characters can disappear from view for several episodes. This can break the rhythm and reduce involvement in the plot.
6. Some aspects are unclear: Some aspects of the world, character motivation, and internal logical connections may remain unclear or underexplained. This can be frustrating for viewers who would like a deeper understanding of the universe 'Titan Attacks'.
7. Scene tempo and editing: In some cases, especially in battle scenes and tense moments, the tempo of the plot can be excessively fast, and the editing of scenes can be sharp. This can create a sense of disorientation and make it difficult to perceive plot events.
8. Styling and visual style: Although the visual style of anime impresses many, it can also cause dissonance of tastes due to its unique stylization. This may be unusual for those who prefer a more traditional animation style.
Overall, 'Attack of the Titans' is a series that evokes many feelings and opinions among viewers. Negative aspects such as protractedness, repetition, and plot complexity may indeed prove to be drawbacks for some viewers, but for others they may be considered minor compared to the overall atmosphere and drama of the series.
What is a quality indicator? For the first day I watched exactly half of the season and, a year later, the second game somehow finished off. Why did you take so long to torment the remaining six episodes? Because I began to experience real physical pain exactly at the moment when the plot switched from a single character with at least a little sane motivation to the rest of the schusher, killing his comrades and screaming at the throat that they are sorry. What else to expect from adaptation, if even in the manga, the author could not really reveal anything about the world he created, and there is a whole causal relationship to justify the actions of the central characters. So far, only violations of their own rules in a circle have been correctly prescribed, and in this “final” season their maximum number is recorded. Elementary: "She brutally killed our comrades!" a moment later, "Forget it!" Because now our goals are moving in the same direction, so simply erased years of hatred in some and completely extinguished contempt in others. I am sure that if Hitler had not shot himself, but had been covered with protective ice for a couple of years, after thawing, he would have easily received the status of “best friend” for every inhabitant of the Earth, because now he is so good. And I do not exaggerate, so many episodes showed us an extremely negative attitude of the surrounding islanders to the “female”, that sudden forgiveness looks ridiculous, there was not even a standard straight to the jaw on emotions, just like in an advertisement for a chocolate bar: “Better?” Better! what? An example is not the only one, their wagon with a cart, it is enough to find any such moment: close your eyes, point a finger at any frame to be guaranteed to fall into the standard of logic, and beat facepalm.
Next, it is impossible not to say about the disgusting appearance of the title: drawing the level “from the artist for two and a half yen a day”, because he is only learning, he is more important than the experience now; 3D inserts are worse than Netflix, when they were just entering the anime industry, so bad that even “Kengen Asura” on the background of “Titos” looks expensive-rich masterpiece of graphics; the most disgusting – the development of the appearance of the characters, as if everyone became middle sex, femininity evaporated, and masity has become average to the boy-set. The funniest thing is, it looked good at first, the first season was really beautifully executed, when the sequels only got worse. Amusing comment of one member of the community: “In comparison with the nauseating first part [final], the second looks great, so much dynamics in the picture appeared”, people are already happy that the shovel is now not iron, but gold, although its contents have not changed.
Just look at the screenshots in chronological order, the stylistic technique with burnout and loss of sharpness at frames is perfectly visible, this is done in order not to waste time on drawing the smallest details - we shade in one movement and fine. It turns out that something really interesting went in the direction of something extremely doubtful, although from the start the adaptation was a resounding success, which is why the budget for improving all aspects was obliged to flow the river into the studio, and the authors perfectly understood this point, realized that they got a chicken carrying golden testicles, and not a controversial game for a little-known manga, decided, apparently, had their own considerations on this matter, or from above did not bother, because the audience fed, they also “suck away”.
As a result, we have a questionable product at the output, which I want to call as “laughter, and only”, all because the anime clearly gives off to a more familiar template, only bloated, larger, – SAO. Here it is brought up on such a "masterpiece masterpiece of all masterpieces" and founded the fanbase "Attacks of the Titans", more to say, I am sure, it is for such impenetrable ideas that were initially implemented, because there is nothing more pleasant than a shovel, oh, take them and smear them for each new episode. Absolutely empty, soulless work, viewing which will leave only a dark mark in life, is not worth even a second spent.
My attempt to watch the iconic Attack of the Titans ended in failure. According to the spoilers, I assumed something bloody and with a cool plot - as I love - and got three series of smearing snot about what terrible titans, and how the main character will overcome them. Maybe the series will be interesting in twenty or forty, but my time is too expensive.
Anime has a cool idea, but in the actions of the heroes of logic on zeros. Why do you need security guards that only have playing cards? Why did intelligence get out to certain death, when the Titans have been gone for a hundred years? For a hundred years, mankind has forgotten how big Titans are, and instead of plywood walls that giants punch through with one fist, could not build walls twice as tall and three times as thick? Why do you have to travel between walls on a ship? And most importantly, it turns out that the last people are hiding behind the walls, and all the two hundred and fifty thousand who went beyond the wall died, then here we have residents of nearby villages who live normally with all sorts of titans.
It's finished.
