I understand that I risk running into a flurry of criticism, but I just want to share my opinion among the huge number of praises for this series.
The series came across thanks to the video 'How the anime conquered the world' from the Kinopoisk channel. I was stunned that among the TV series it is higher ' Clinics' and ' Friends'. I rarely watch anime (close to never), which is probably why I am surprised.
Watched 13 episodes. I can't stand it anymore.
But I'll start with the pluses.
+ Drawing, pleasing to the eye. The visual is generally very good. I am not experienced in anime matters, but all the better - I rated it as a neutral viewer.
Funny moves with insertions of facts about the world, behind-the-scenes story about events - good directorial decisions.
+ Lots of characters. Everyone has a story. You can see the changes, the dynamics of development is present.
That's probably it.
- The logic of peace. I will try not to make any gestures, but in almost every episode I grabbed my head from the absolute illogicality, absurdity of the world that was created by the authors. I have a strong feeling that the writer of the script is a 12-year-old teenager with a naive and not very deep idea of the world.
- Motivation of characters, logic of actions. And in order to maintain that fragile, artificial design from the previous paragraph, we have to make the heroes angular, primitive, flat. I said above that the dynamics of development is present - it is true, but it is ridiculous and naive.
- Plot twists. The plot can be predicted several series in advance. Well, the 21st century. The audience is more sophisticated than ever. And here every plot move you think ' I've seen it somewhere '. This secondaryity, which is not compensated for by something else (for example, a carefully thought out logical world) finished me off.
- Music. It's a good sound in some places. But in general, it is clearly felt when they want to suppress emotions exclusively with musical accompaniment, which in quality is somewhere on the level of anime of the 90s.
- Target audience. Who is this series for? It is frightening to think that this creation is so highly appreciated in the world. I've been thinking to myself every episode - '. Everybody likes it. I don't know what I'm saying, maybe 39. It made me close my eyes to the absolute crank. Okay, let's say the series is designed for a teenage audience. But even that thought doesn't save me. That is, a modern teenager can not understand the motives of the characters so much that the characters should leave half of the series to voice their thoughts and explain their actions? Seriously, we're talking about visual art. And here this art is not - it is given away to beautiful fights, classical anime pathos. But no art. The viewer should not think, think, reason. They tell him exactly what and how. And the fact that this approach is reflected in more fans is frightening to me.
Of course, I can be wrong, not understand something. But I am sad to see that in the top there is such an idealess, childish in the bad sense of the word, weak, albeit sometimes beautiful, creation.
The mass viewer is degraded, and the creators-commerce churns out mediocrity, only aggravating the process.
The first season of this anime series, based on the manga of the same name Hajime Isayama, was released in 2013 and is currently not completed. In 2023, the third part of the final fourth season will be released, which is likely to end the series. The action of the anime takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where people are forced to fight the titans – giant humanoid creatures that devour ordinary children. The main character of the series is Eren Yeager. One day in front of him, one of the Titans eats his mother alive. Eren, driven by a thirst for revenge, along with his sister Mikasa and friend Armin, enters the service of the Intelligence Corps, engaged in the destruction of Titans. The series has high audience ratings, good criticism and an impressive fan base. Is the opinion of the audience and critics fair? In my opinion, not quite. However, at the beginning I will describe the positive aspects of this anime.
First, the audio-visual series should be noted. The colors are bright and rich, the drawing is well worked out. Let me clarify that the praise in this case applies mainly to the first three seasons, for which the WIT studio is responsible. I can’t say that the studio “Mappa”, which was engaged in the shooting of the fourth season, seriously failed in visual terms, but I like the visual style of the studio “WIT”. The music in the seral also deserves attention. Musical accompaniment, especially instrumental music, is selected very successfully and well corresponds to the events taking place on the screen.
Secondly, the merit of the anime is competently woven into the narrative of the romantic line. To be honest, the author of this text has never seen anything like this before. I think it's one of the most unusual and touching romantic lines I've ever seen. The love line is not immediately served, it is not obvious at the beginning of the series, but gradually more and more revealed. It lacks any unnecessary emotions, it is not emphasized, instead it, having a platonic character, smoothly opens throughout the work, reflecting the natural process of development and deepening of relations between two young people.
Thirdly, I want to note some plot twists, because in places they really surprised.
The merit of the creators of the series is also that they showed not an ordinary confrontation of abstract good with abstract evil, but went further, made the story more complex and multifaceted. The authors managed to reflect the causes of cruelty and injustice of the world shown in the series, which are human relationships and vices.
But along with several main advantages in the seral there are numerous disadvantages. Among them is the annoying behavior of the main character. He is very emotionally expresses his feelings and experiences, which is very embarrassing (in general, many characters of the series differ in such excessive or even hypertrophied expressiveness, but the main character is the one that separates everyone’s anger). His actions, although they have a logical justification, are ill-conceived and even infantile. And given the fact that the main character is the leader among all the other characters, he sets them (and the audience) a bad role model.
A significant drawback of the series is how military service is reflected in the series. It seems that the authors of the series have no idea about service in the armed forces. The anime disgustingly shows the life of servicemen, army subordination, management of the commander by subordinates and other moments related to military service.
It is worth mentioning the fact that the anime sins insufficient scriptwork of some characters, which is why the motives of their actions and actions are not fully or at all clear.
Special attention deserves a plot that is far from ideal. As mentioned above, some plot twists were quite interesting and unconventional, but in this case the problem lies in the peculiarities of the local narrative. This problem is expressed in the fact that, on the one hand, the narrative is built in such a way that the main characters (as well as the audience) at the beginning of the series have a vague idea of the world, the origin of the Titans, etc. But as the plot develops, the characters get more and more information about the laws and rules of their surrounding reality, they gradually come to the awareness of all those monstrous processes that originate from the first minutes of the anime and this is a good scenario decision, but at the same time it is also a drawback, because sometimes the plot introduces information that seems to be taken out of thin air, because it is impossible to establish causal relationships of what is happening, based on what the viewer knew earlier.
In addition to all of the above, the series is replete with various stupidities and incomprehensible conventions, which causes the author of this text discomfort.
As a result, I have mixed feelings about the anime series in question. On the one hand, there are moments in it that I really like, on the other hand, the series has a lot of shortcomings. I can’t join people in praising the series, but at the same time it would be unfair to consider it weak, because the issues it touches are important and relevant. As a result, anime repels me in form and execution, but attracts me in content and thought.
Attack of the Titans is a critically acclaimed anime series that has garnered a huge following since its debut in 2013.
The construction of the world in Attack of the Titans is absolutely amazing. The series is set in a dystopian future where humanity is imprisoned in a walled city to protect itself from giant humanoid creatures known as Titans. The way the world works is incredibly exciting, with a rich history and culture that is constantly explored and developed throughout the series. The intricate attention to detail in building the world makes watching Attack of the Titans feel like immersing yourself in a fully realized, lively and violent world.
Another feature of Attacks on the Titans is the narrative. The series is full of unexpected twists and continually fails viewers’ expectations. The characters are complex and multi-level, and their development throughout the series is realistic and convincing. Anime is not afraid to explore heavy topics such as loss, trauma, and morality, and the way these topics are handled is both delicate and nuanced.

The sequence in Attack of the Titans is one of the best in any anime. Fight scenes are well staged, although the animation at the highest level there are also schools with 3D graphics. The sense of scale in battles with the Titans inspires awe, and the stakes are always high.
The criticism is that the tempo of the series can sometimes seem slow, especially in seasons 3-4. While world-building and character development are undoubtedly some of the series' strengths, some places may be disappointed by the slow build-up of action and the unknown. Also, there may be tough themes in the series that some types may find preaching or unpleasant.
In conclusion, Attack of the Titans is a great anime series that has a lot to recommend, including world-building, storytelling, and action sequence. However, it is not without flaws, and some viewers may find the violence, tempo and character design in the series flaws.
Despite this criticism, Attack of the Titans remains a series worth watching for anyone interested in high-quality anime.
9 out of 10
Honestly, I watched a bit of anime, including Attack of the Titans. In most cases, I just didn't like the drawing.
As for the Attack of the Titans, I will say this: attracted from the first series to the very end.
I was fascinated by the plot of the anime - fiction, a post-apocalyptic world where people fight the Titans. I learned about the anime from social networks.
All the anime I watched didn’t carry a deep meaning, a lesson, so I started watching with a certain burden. What is striking is that in the first series, the plot shows us a tragedy, from which we can conclude that it will be the same. The whole series looked in one breath, thanks to the direction, which ended the series on the most interesting (the right move to lure the viewer).
I especially liked the fact that the plot is not built on the disclosure of the personalities of only the main characters. Gradually, the series revealed the individuality and peculiarity of each character. While watching the series, you are both happy and sympathetic to the same hero. The main thing you realize when you reveal them (I mean most of the characters) is that they are still children who had to become adults early.
The deep meaning of the series, which I understood for myself, can be described by the quote ' It seemed an illusion, but we were all born free. And when someone wants to take away our freedom, no matter how strong, it doesn’t matter.39 In fact, during the series there were many quotes that make you think (you can give an example of the phrase Armin, which I remember most & #39; You will never turn things around if you are not ready to sacrifice everything').
Summing up, I can say that not everyone will be able to reveal all the characters, show the deep meaning of the series and at the same time make it a cool action movie. I suggest you watch it.
Speaking of my anime experience, it fits into Shaman King and The Legend of Aang - kind, childish anime. A friend advised the Titan attack. And one evening, I started watching. I watched all 4 seasons in a week. Briefly: 'Wow. It's strong'.
What is a Titan attack?
The attack of the Titans is above all a huge world, they are characters with their own unique character and an incredible story. It is amazing how the writers gradually reveal the world and characters. At first, everything seemed pretty predictable, I was sure I knew what was going to happen. But the further I went, the more I doubted which event would be next, events sometimes develop so nonlinearly that it is scary to guess.
What's wrong?
A story of friendship. Here it is clearly shown how the heroes are worried about each other, ready to sacrifice themselves, ready to go to exploits. You can’t say that all the characters have some kind of monolithic character – all very controversial. There are only positive or only negative characters - the author will clearly reveal the motives of each character, sometimes you will hate the character for his actions, and after a few episodes empathize with him.
A story about an unusual world.
The world of Titan attacks is both realistic: the life of the inhabitants of this world, the physics, the fragility of life, and at the same time very amazing: Titans who surprise with their nature and abilities, soldiers who use unusual techniques to combat them, underground cities and alternative history.
The story of every hero.
Despite the fact that there are several main characters in the anime, it surprised me how deeply even the most insignificant characters are revealed. Each character is a unique story. The author perfectly shows both the tender feelings of first love, and the horror before the eyes of death, the pain of loss, suicidal heroism, composure and prudence, stupidity.
A story that's well-designed.
The anime is very beautifully drawn. Here you and dynamic, unrealistically cool battle scenes that convey the incredible atmosphere of combat from different angles. Sometimes you see battle in the first person, sometimes behind the back of the characters, sometimes you become an observer of the fight from the street. But battle scenes are not the main thing. Unusually beautiful static scenes: they convey the beauty of the species, the emotions of the characters, the intensity of the moment.
Summary: Thank you to the authors for an incredibly beautiful and profound story. This is definitely worth watching.
Hey, everybody. This is my first time. For the first time, I write a review not to express my admiration (I think everything is clear with the evaluation of the series, after what I have experienced and still experience, I simply do not have the right to rate less than a dozen), but in order to corny express myself. I write this review with tears in my eyes, after a sleepless night spent thinking about how I would write this review and remembering what I watched. I honestly didn’t think I’d ever experience anything like that.
It will be an emotional review, but otherwise I just can’t. So judge for yourself.
“Attack of the Titans” I found quite by accident; in the comments to one meme on anime, the eye caught the question “where to start, if you still want to?” and the answer to it: “With the Attacks of the Titans.” So I decided, why not? Having included the series, there was hope for an exciting action, interesting plot and corporate atmosphere, because, I will reveal the secret, the year so at 16, I watched both films on this manga, just nothing to do, and I, surprisingly, liked them (now my opinion, of course, would have been different, but then the atmosphere and setting I got).
I was so fucking excited when I watched the first episode. Most of the series in the first series only introduce the characters and present the plot, Hajime Isayama reveals to you the central characters and outlines the situation in the first 15 minutes of the 1st series. In 15 minutes! After that, without warning, you will be thrown into the thick of events that, it would seem, are still far away. In the first series, you will cry, in the first series, the series sets the pace for the entire narrative, asserting the fundamental basis of Isayama’s manga – the local world is cruel and spares no one. The series will continue to grow.
In general, all 7 episodes of the first season that I watched (yes, I know it’s not enough, considering that there are 25 of them, but I can’t help but express myself) can be described as follows: Tragedy. In each episode (except for one or two), someone roars, someone loses, each episode we watch someone’s grief. It was very difficult for me to observe this personally, because these stories were built in a masterpiece and very cruel way. In reality, people with a very sensitive psyche can at one point simply say: “I’m Done”, because not everyone can withstand the flow of pain that flows from the screen. For example, (without spoilers), take Mikasa, Eren’s half-sister (the first heroes to be presented to us). Over the course of 5 episodes, we’ve been watching her, getting to know her character, her relationship with her brother, and frankly, I didn’t like her at first. But gradually, we learn more and more details about her inner world, and in Episode 6 I again just freaked out (to put it mildly) from the horror that, as it turned out, she carried all this time. Scenes from this episode are firmly embedded in my memory and, apparently, not going out much.
In general, it’s going to be a lot of shit, because in almost every episode, Isayama throws you a punch like, ‘Ah, you think it’s okay, right? There you go!, sometimes literally mocking you and your feelings in corporate style. Cliffhangers are often used, tearing an interesting event in two, sometimes forcing you to immediately run and watch the next episode. Each episode is supplemented by the so-called “general information”, this is a piece of useful lore, which is desirable to know, very pleasant and unusual, for the first time I meet such a person. There is a place for humor, there is not much of it, and compared to the grief that each series brings, I would say that there is very little of it here, but it is good, simple, and most importantly – works.
Emotional. Here I will touch on the drawing a little, because it may seem that it is too expressive and the characters sometimes open their mouths too wide in surprise or too many tears flow from them, but this is not true. All the characters in the series, as if they are a reflection of the human soul and drawing in this very much helps. Each hero is frank with the viewer, each hero worries about his own cause. The most important achievement of this approach is to believe the characters. For each painted man here you worry as for your close friend, because the relationship of the characters is sincere, I want them to continue to develop, but as if not, because the Titans do not sleep. From the first episode, you understand that everyone can die here and, frankly, it is not easier. Mikasa herself says many times, “This is a cruel world.”
I would like to mention the music separately. The theme of the Titans and the main soundtrack, I promise you, you will remember for a long time. Especially in the memory of the Titans. Every time you hear these choral, monumental songs, it shudders, because you understand WHAT is about to begin, you become really anxious and afraid.
So let's take stock. Every time I think about this series, I see tears come in my eyes, and my heart shrinks from some strange feeling of anxiety, because I have never seen such a thing. According to the level of tears flowing from my eyes, the series has long overcame The Last Of Us 2 (who understood, he understood), and the level of my interest in the series, it has long been equal to Harry Potter (with a book, Carl, with a book!), which I once read in a binge in a week. After 7 episodes, I became convinced that this series has become more than just a movie for me and for this I am ready to forgive him any sins that may manifest themselves further.
100/10 is the best thing I've seen in my life and thanks for reading it.
I confess that I was inspired to view this title by the fact that scenes and excerpts from it literally ooze from every iron, be it TT, YouTube or anything else, even the Kinopoisk website itself made a selection of materials on the Attack. After a full review of everything that could be found in normal translation, I will say that all this is not in vain.
Although the creators themselves have divided the anime into 4 full-fledged seasons, I see that this is a full-fledged and holistic story, which this division may not be necessary, but, on the other hand, every arch is in place, and these seasons are organically woven here. Now let me run through the story briefly.
The first 25 episodes tell the story of the alternative world, from 18 to 19 centuries away, here humanity lives under the yoke of huge humanoid creatures of Titans, whose goal is to eat people, but who they are, where they came from, why they appeared, what their main goal is a mystery behind seven seals (and even for 4 seasons we will not understand this). A century after their appearance, the extreme wall is broken and humanity loses 1/5 of itself. Behind this wall lives an ordinary boy Eren, who wants to look beyond the world beyond the walls, but everything collapses literally in a matter of hours, his own mother dies in the mouth of a titan and now he has one goal - to destroy every single Titan. He and his friends join the Cadet Corps, training future defenders of the walls and the people behind them. In one of the battles, Eren repeats the fate of his mother, only the result this time is completely different. Now humanity has hope and it becomes Eren, reincarnated in a giant, but not in simple.
While the first season shows Eren emerging in a new guise, the second and third deepen the dilemma for him and the people who trusted him. The final part of the story turns everything upside down, but nevertheless, Yeager goes to his goal, albeit in a cruel and perverse way.
This series is inherently very ambiguous, cruel, vile, hopeless in its atmosphere and mood, which can not but push to compare it with the events of our world, especially the 20th century with its two world wars, genocide, global political and territorial restructuring. Its basis, what it is woven from, is simply the highest bar that could ever be taken to describe the history of not only this series, but in general all the creations of world cinema. All events, the motives of the heroes, the external world are described here in great detail and not a single detail is shown without its further development or for the sake of the show itself.
This series is also a very close plexus of genres, the first place among which is undoubtedly occupied by drama, but here you can see the thriller and horrors, psychological detective branch, road movie and many other genres. He can surprise with very unexpected plot twists and show characters from an unexpected side. In addition, each series has a text insert that tells and deepens the understanding of each theme and action taking place in each individual episode.
The characters here are very colorful and charismatic, there are no pacifiers and passerby images, each of them lives a real life, I can not imagine a more vivid and one can say “meat” (of flesh and blood) representation of people on the screen. There are no uniquely white or black characters, each of them in one scene can be sympathized and experienced, and in another to hate and despise. Formation, development, motives, emotions, the choice of each are twisted to the maximum level. Everyone has their own personal, self-serving, animal goals – to join an elite squad and live in contentment and prosperity, to keep their ass behind walls; there are others whose desire is to recapture their legitimate right to life in the world, along the way exterminating the titans.
The three main characters also deserve credit.
Eren is a gloomy, stubborn, constantly dissenting character who will stop at nothing to do his revenge on the world and the titans. He has great perseverance and strength of spirit.
Mikasa is Eren's unborn sister. A cold, impregnable beauty who rarely shows her feelings and emotions. The most indispensable member of the squad by virtue of her abilities, ready to do anything for the protection and happiness of Eren.
Armin is a calm, reasonable blonde (not inferior in beauty to Mikasa). Unlike Eren and Mikasa, he is not distinguished by either strength of mind or any special skills in the fight against the Titans, but an indispensable strategist and planner.
The number of problems and topics touched upon here is an unplowed field. Here and the value of friendship, fortitude, commitment to ideals, protection of the weak, class and political segregation, the policy of militarism, industrialization, the achievement of goals by all truths and untruths, betrayal and much more.
Animation, from the very first series to the end is very decent, colorful, lively, detailed. Action, the dynamics here is also impossible to place and looks very organic. Openings and endings are also memorable and bright, just the eye is happy.
The music didn’t blow up either, definitely hitting the top ten.
Special attention deserves voiceover. All 87 episodes were watched exclusively by the Studio Gang. I want to give her credit, the voices are selected delightfully, emotions are transmitted reliably and it is impossible not to believe them, and how much pain is in the voice of individual heroes.
As a result, we get a very balanced, large-scale, dynamic spectacle, which has no weaknesses both in terms of drawing, sound, and in the presentation and seriousness of the plot, the disclosure of heroes, the beautiful elaboration of the world and the presentation of important ideological and moral problems. Definitely the best project in the last decade, the bar of which is difficult to achieve and almost impossible to implement again.

“Freedom is worthless unless it includes the freedom to err,” said Mahatma Gandhi, but what if your mistakes take away the freedom of others?
The strength of this work for me is the meaning embedded in it. Living in a world where everyone is trying to find their place, proving to others about their importance, we forget about the most important thing - the chance of freedom.
Briefly, this anime tells the story of a boy who suffered for abstract freedom. He lived in a world of chaos and destruction. And he fought it for the rest of his life. The only question is, were these efforts in vain?
The characters of this anime came out masterpiece. Each had its own story and was not lost against the background with the main character, but was its continuation. The ability to reveal each character is not all. I also want to mention how the main character, Eren, is changing. How he goes from childish naivety to the agony of a desire for revenge and then into a man who became the master of his fate, the king on the chessboard, which fell into the role of the decisive move. The development took place in unison with his decisions, which he made both on his own and involuntary measure. Every event and death was reflected in his inner world, changing his character traits. The hero really changes, his values and worldview change, but he still plays on his childish naivety proving that Eren is still Eren, and it makes me love this anime even more.
I would also like to mention the realism used here. Characters die of simple things, showing the fragility of human life. Well designed weapons and equipment, although slightly embellished. But still it is better than looking at the completely changed, broken and illogical physics of the world.
Of the downsides, perhaps this is the open end. The cycle of hate is not over. There is no guarantee of peace, instead it looks like the war has gotten worse. After such a devastating outcome and the number of deaths, the development of the world was tens or even hundreds of steps lower. This hints at the inefficiency of the action of the main character, devaluing the entire thorny path and work on the character, zeroing out its principles and priorities. Writing a good ending after putting so much effort into its development is quite difficult. Perhaps, under the influence of fans, the author decided to soften the end and leave it happy and moved from a revolutionary idea to a pacifist one, but it would be better if he nevertheless showed the severity of the realities of the world in his work.
If you look at the big picture, the anime is really worthy and one of a kind. It keeps the whole time in anticipation, and it really justifies the sharp plot twists. It is teeming with interesting theories and conclusions, references to the real world and its own philosophy. A philosophy that not everyone understands.
“You will never turn things around unless you are willing to sacrifice everything.” – Armin Arlert
The impetus for watching this anime was a video on the YouTube channel Kinopoisk “Why “Attack of the Titans” is the main series of the world right now.” After watching season 1 I disagree with this video. From the point of view of context it is possible, from the point of view of form - no.
Why do I think Attack of the Titans is a failure in terms of form? Especially for modern human consciousness, clip thinking.
The main problem of the series is a very stretched narrative. One series - 24 minutes, includes a screensaver, a repeat of the previous series, large pauses in dialogue, meaningless phrases of the characters duplicating their actions, a bunch of flashbacks (most often from previous series). That is, what the viewer has seen and will see dozens of times further. There is also an abuse of stretching intraframe time. Not the effect of slowing down, but just like that: for 20 seconds of intraframe time, the characters manage to issue a long monologue, then a long pause follows, then a decent dialogue of several characters and finally the action is performed “in 20 seconds” (!). The plot of each series can be reduced to 8-10 minutes of screen time, the series will not lose anything, but only win.
We, as viewers, pay the time of our lives to authors (see D. Mamet). As far as it is necessary not to respect the viewer, explaining each action of the character through the word, to give constantly flashbacks as motives (see R. Bresson). Did the viewer not understand the first time? Authors, put an audio production or write books, what is the point of you dealing with a moving image, if you like to shove tons of meaningless text into the lips of the characters.
Terribly annoying a bunch of hysterically screaming characters. It is clear that everything is at the limit caused by events, but it is boring, you get tired of this monotony of emotions. Are there no other emotional palettes in situations of despair and irrevocable death?
Working with music is terrible, who wrote / reduced the scenes to episodes arrhythmic sensation of music.
Together with the above, still animation takes on a new meaning. This is not a style like this, just the authors have hulkingly approached (in terms of form) the film adaptation of the manga.
Game of Thrones has gone from caterpillar to butterfly to Game of Thrones. The development of the plot has spread beyond the boundaries of the island, the world to which we were previously accustomed, but not beyond our comprehension. Our mind still contains what the authors draw almost childishly plot.
The next epic shows almost the Second World War with airships, giant ships, recoil and ordinary hand (guns) anti-tank guns, small arms and other military madness. But the style of the narrative is such that history often leads us into the past, so we see the epic and those times that subconsciously resemble almost the ancient Russian kingdom, although of course, the earlier Roman Empire and their enmity with the northern tribes, including those who inhabited the lands of modern Germany in the past.
There is a lot of history in the cartoon. A lot is taken from fascist Germany, where modern ghettos first appeared, divisions, segregation, walls, although all this was long before. Today it seems that the walls separated only western and eastern Germany, they are built on the border of the United States and Mexico, a lot of walls in Israel near the Palestinian territories. Walls are a symbol of separation. But in our cartoon, they are more metaphorical ... they no longer symbolize physical, but moral, spiritual, spiritual, habitual racial division. In the cartoon, this is very often shown by the example of separation in the views of fathers and children, brothers, friends, brothers in arms, etc. The divisions are shown in the composition of one race. Needless to say: humanity only give a reason to divide and destroy something, and only then will not rust behind us.
The cartoon plays it all ironically. Children kill adults, adults kill children. But the authors do not stop there ... metaphysically, the story continues so that the relatives of the murdered often end up saving the murderers of their relatives when they have a chance for revenge ... or, conversely, repay evil for evil, which generates a new round of revenge. The essence of the cartoon, of course, is to show that evil breeds evil until someone dares and finds the strength to stop the vicious circle. Ironically, this is why the story takes the characters to where it all started... where will the story go next? The finish at the start will give a new start to suffering in the circle of being with the inevitable end, from where new killer children with the same goals as their ancestors start?
The film in some ways began to resemble the series American Gods mixed with Rick and Morty, but only funny and ridiculous here is not enough. But a lot of blood and murder of all stripes. Even horrified, what movie would come out (films), if one of the eminent directors like Spielberg would decide to film it all in the epic in the form of many parts, as in the franchise Avatar Cameron.
One thing is not to understand... they threw a new girl-heroine in a night girl on a zota to blow up the train (even the soldiers asked her before that in a state of shock, what she was undressing... with this calculation on the shock of the enemy, she was naked)... but for some reason the main characters, who have grown up before the age of majority, dressed in men’s suits, pants, shirts, cut most beautiful hair, which was to the shoulders and below... now all the heroes and heroines have become similar to the boys... Why not give the girls freedom and show how they look at least in bras? Bring at least to sunbathe the girls together on the beach, they are pale all (just at the end of last season there was a beach, sea-e-e, girls, what would not show...)! The poet's dream never came true. The mystery of the female body has remained unsolved. This is the main mystery of the series for the male population ... ah, this mystery. Oh, come on. Put the man drool, wipe, suck back. I think I’ve lost my nose.
Our series is more than ordinary human lust, although the lust of power, revenge, various evil in the name of conditional & #39; good & #39; there is enough. My evil will remain with me. I have built my walls around it with the Titans forever... And he himself became the lord of all Titans, addicted to the tree of knowledge of good and evil, tasted of the tree of life that is in the middle of paradise.
The problem with the series is that despite being anti-war, despite all that is said about it, it will not save humanity from evil... knowledge is notoriously overpowering. And I'm just going to look at him like an arrogant man, revel in evil. I won't study, I won't. I will only write that I am intelligent and intelligent, that I understood everything, but in secret I will be the same, no better or worse than heroes who betray themselves, friends, enemies for the sake of their own worldly lusts. I will enjoy this evil. I guess we all like to watch the war. After all, it goes all four seasons, bloody and ruthless, where we see that and ' our ' (friends) and ' Yours ' (enemies) on the same face and the same actions are capable, and their goals and lives are the same. And we are no different from them, because mirror everything from us and written off ... beautifully written on anime canvas.
We’re going to end with Episode 87...is this the end or a new beginning? The path to infinity?
Attack of the Titans is a shōnen written by Hajime Isayama and published since 2009, and in 2013 already received a good anime adaptation and, thereby, gained fame and fame. I think there are few who have not heard at least a glimpse of this title.
The Attack of the Titans is probably the only shōnen that made me watch the entire series after Jojo. I like a lot about this shōnen, I love this story and consider it a treasure.
The plot in this title is perfectly executed, and the anime adaptation has added more detail and made the story of Hajime Isayama even better. Here you can hardly take sides, everyone may not be what it seems, there are many plot twists, despair, fear and darkness in this work.
The characters, in such a short time, were revealed very well. Even over the death of background characters, you will cry, because they are shown by people: they have dreams, fears, shortcomings and ideas. You can blame them, but you can understand them, because the world of Titan Attacks is built so that you can hardly take sides. There are no antagonists here, in fact, and you will understand why as the story progresses.
Setting, world building, ENT and the system of forces I really like, although, of course, there are flaws. Title gradually introduces to the course of things and surprises with turns from which you will freeze in shock.
The character design is very good and I think there is hardly a person in the fandom anime that does not recognize Isayama’s style.
The idea of this work is what will remain relevant now and in the future. But one thing Isayama clearly tells us through the work is that we must not give up, even if the world is unfair to us. But this idea is only the tip of the iceberg, because if you dive deeper... You know the whole human thing. That’s what I love about this manga. This is incredible.
To sum up, the Attack of the Titans is a literary and animated treasure, a work that will always be a cult, despite how many people heitiate or belittle this shōnen. The Titan attack is a masterpiece! And always will be.
Do you remember 'The Attack of the Titans'? Yes, the same series of 2013, about the war with giants in the setting of the 18th century, with impossible megawalls and inexplicable drives for flights. It was a brutal, bloody, intense plot where flies die, there is no hope, fight or die, koroch. If you win in a fierce fight, then for a while, tomorrow again in battle. Fortunately, enemies (if not monsters) are ruthless murderers, and even sadists, organizers of genocides. All this under a cool soundtrack, a good picture, rays of light from the local sky. What is not new ' Berserk' Miura, but with furs and a bunch of different characters? The series went to fans, became a franchise, spawned a couple of games on PC (AOT2 is nothing, but budget), a series about school, several additional episodes.
And so, with that in mind, what did the original author do? Maybe it's developed, improved, improved? No, what, he acted creatively, but with an eye on the memorable ' Gospel'
He changed everything I listed above. Now it doesn't matter, it was ' for teenagers' and now the real 18+ will begin.
In the fifth episode of the second season, there is a change in the plot, and then there are flows of whining, reflections of the characters, conversations about nothing, leading to nothing. Enemies are paper tigers, stupid and suffering. The main character is now a girl who succeeds thanks to the plot, and not talents and qualities, well, fashion today on such.
The logic of what's going on? Get it out of here! Tension, imminent danger, spectacular fights? To hell with all this.
The author tries to create ambiguous situations, to put heroes before a choice, but it all comes down to teenage throwing ' I don't know what I want', ' the truth is no', ' the parents did not give money for new riots against them' The plot includes a prodigy (multiply enemies by zero) and victories through low IQ.
The quality of the picture, the soundtrack - worse and worse. There is a moral infusion about the innocence of everyone and everything.
The final season is something special. A true manifesto of creative thought, a statement for centuries. We will be told about 10-year-old secret agents (how about James Bond?), about centuries-old conflicts, rethink the history of the 20th century. Did you know that the Nazis put Jewish children in their tanks, and they served them obediently and went into battle? Now you know, this is a historical fact. Did you know that the Nazis were fully acquitted after saying ' I am so sorry' and then marched with them on their comrades in arms? And this is an act of high morality in war, in all memoirs about it.
Quality, sound - missing, as are the Titans. Contact 'Wait for me', search behind walls, in walls, under walls.
To be honest, it is hard to see how potentially strong and adult plots die before they have time to spin. Like the new film adaptations ' Berserk' they are not needed by the viewer who wants reflection and teenage philosophy, the emotions of the very presence of familiar characters on the screen. It's easier not to think.
Erase your memory and watch it for the first time.
No doubt a masterpiece. One of the best anime, if not the best. I don’t remember a single movie or TV series that gave so many diverse emotions. I will go through specific points, on the main advantages of AT, and disadvantages, if any.
Plot.
A lot has been said about this part. Not every person is able to write a work that would fit as many thoughts and philosophical subtexts as in Attack. And what's particularly surprising is that all of these thoughts are very naturally woven into the plot. There are no feelings that arise when watching many Western films and TV series, where the "necessary" & #39; subtexts literally fall on the viewer, when the main characters literally read these "39; necessary" & #39; thoughts. Everything looks as harmonious as possible.
The author’s reflections on wars and armed conflicts, racism, the theme of fathers and children, the topic of patriotism, the topic of state brainwashing of its citizens, the topic of the Iron Curtain and isolation, etc. But it all began, supposedly with a simple plot, where the main characters destroy ' terrible & #39; monsters. It is amazing how Isayama was able to combine all this and make it look whole.
I have never seen such a multifaceted plot anywhere, neither in the movies nor in the TV series.
The dynamics of what is happening.
This is something that many people forget.
I used to watch a Stein's Gate anime. I watched it, watched it and missed it. I don’t know why I’m watching this show, it seems like it has great ratings. Then I dropped down in the comments under the player and read the user's opinion: 'blah blah blah, you need to wait until the 15th series, and that's when the action begins' I checked to 20, but nothing has changed. As a result, I formed a kind of rule for myself: ' quality TV series and films begin to catch the viewer from the first minutes (about films) and from the first series (about TV series)' And that's what's happening with AT.
Events and epic moments begin to fall from the very first series. The death of Eren's matter, the breach of the first wall, the second attack of the Titans, the death of many characters, the story of Mikasa - the epic moments that managed to be shown in the first 7 episodes. Seven, Karl. And this is just the beginning of the first season. A clear example of how you can combine a stunning story with an equally stunning action.
Proper use of cinema cliché.
Western film industry has become a hotbed of worn cliches, behind which directors hide their laziness and talentlessness. However, in my opinion, clichés can and should be used in cinema, all the same, a kind of well-working cinematic technique, but you need to use them wisely. For example, in the AT in the first series, the mother is devoured - the loss of a loved one, which stimulates the two to personal growth and encourages him to further plot actions. Isn't that cliché? Cliché! But it's so beautifully shown. I think the first series is one of the most powerful in anime, if not the most powerful. Appropriate pathos, megacool muzon, Japanese horns all over. Plus, in the first series have already managed to reveal a little of the main characters, to whom you already feel a little empathy.
Or the death of several characters in the woods in the middle of Season 1. The scene itself is a cliché, and you can see in advance that these characters will die. But again, how wonderfully filmed and shown this scene. Music, pathos, tastefully drawn every frame from that scene.
Music.
It's simple. The music is cool. I haven’t seen a single anime, TV series or movie where there was such a quality muson, and even in such quantity. And, as I have already written, this music sounds exactly at those moments in which it should be sounded, in order to enhance the effect of the stage, to enhance its pathos.
Of the drawbacks, we can only recall the second season, which, in my opinion, is much weaker than the others. Although he's generally good.
The popularity and success of the anime series AT is known to everyone and absolutely deserved. In the era of the domination of stamped, flying like hot cakes, without an age rating of stories about boy heroes and girls wizards, AT for the world of anime has become about the same as IP for the movie viewer. Salvation, outlet, breath of fresh air. A story where we can see (even within the framework of a fantasy setting) normal, with their pros and cons of characters and storylines obeying the laws of logic and common sense. Someone sees in the pluses and the high age threshold of the series, cruelty and violence, which time after time makes you experience an emotional shock from the death of your favorite character and as a result, whip up interest. It's all true. On the other hand, the same Berserk with a similar age rating performed noticeably worse. Tales like Parasite or Tokyo Gul also made a name for themselves, but they didn’t even come close to AT. It seems that the peculiarity of AT is that the author Hajime Isayama was able to organically combine in it the maximum possible number of components of a good plot, and the anime studio adequately embodied all this. The main advantages, as I see it, are as follows:
Graphics/Animation.
Everything's fine here. Studios WIT and MAPPA worked hard, producing an excellent picture with high dynamics and detail. Differences in presentation (traditional in Vit and more gloomy and depressing in Mappa) are more likely even a plus, because the difference between the previous and fourth seasons, their locations and atmosphere itself pushes to this. Epic music by Hiroyuki Savano has also long been shared on the Internet. Directing, staging - without comment; they almost completely copy the original source, only occasionally confused in chronology. Many people scold computer graphics, but I personally noticed a frank hack only once. In general, I have no questions about the technical part.
Plot.
Many people call Isayama a genius and sometimes I want to agree. First, the way he builds the narrative, confusing the plot and presenting it in pieces so that the viewer scratches his head, and then with a few flashbacks (and even dozens of chapters later) all this logically resolves, without delirium and falsehood, naturally and truthfully. Perhaps not everyone noticed a huge number of references, Easter eggs, etc. at first glance, the little things that Isayama scattered throughout the plot. There are analogies with Scandinavian mythology, and allusions to the first world, and the magic of numbers, and just puzzles connecting different fragments of the plot. Many of them are incomprehensible, others allow for different interpretations, but in any case, all this is presented dramatically and spectacularly. Second, there are really interesting heroes. We are consistently shown characters, and as they are revealed, the attitude towards them changes. At first we sympathize with some and hate others. Then the stories of like villains are revealed, and the attitude towards them is replaced, if not sympathetic, then at least understanding. And in the end, everything turns upside down, and it is no longer clear who is right, who is to blame. Again, there seems to be nothing unique about it. In such cases, the viewer almost always wants to convey a universal morality - there are no rightists, the truth is everyone has his own. But Isayama was able to do it as believably and qualitatively as possible. He does not cover up controversial places with inept exposition and does not impose his vision, but really, literally in minutes, paints the childhood of the characters, their environment, circumstances, etc., as a result of which the viewer himself can decide which side he should take, and whether to occupy it at all. Third, like any real artist, Isayama is selfish. He does not take into account the desires and expectations of fans, calmly kills his favorite characters, highlights others and for a while forgets about the third. On the one hand, it is controversial, and of course, this in itself is not a guarantee of quality - in the end, it all depends on the taste and talent of the author. However, in our age of SJW and inclusivity, one attempt by the author to break established trends and go against the system, to create something of his own is at least respected. And finally, the fourth is epic. Started as a teenage Senen, the story develops into a truly grandiose battle on different continents, with the interweaving of eras, the clash of nations, political regimes, science and mysticism. All this, of course, is happening towards the end, but at the same time makes history more diverse, shifting the focus from interpersonal relations to relations between countries and regimes. One of my favorites is Season 1 – People vs. Titans. Season 2 - Titans vs. Titans Season 3 - People vs. People Season 4 - Eren vs. the World The author is not stuck in one place. He constantly jumps from one topic to another, changes accents, introduces new characters, along the way slowly revealing secrets to the very last chapter, preserving intrigue. Isayama is selfish, but at the same time, he, none of the lines, in fact, remains broken. All plot plot plots are solved, all puzzles are solved, just it can happen in one or fifty chapters. Such a thorough approach plus the ability to link events separated by many years is definitely impressive. I want to mention another talent of Isayama. There is not much drama in the story, but all the emotional scenes are set just fine. Erwin's death, Berthold and Rainer's transformation, the restaurant scene with Gaby, the last scenes with Eren... AT is not only action, but also unexpected denouements, uncontrived conflicts, powerful dramaturgy, piercing dialogues and characters capable of understanding the opponent under the weight of circumstances and making the right choice.
Of the minuses, I can note almost the complete absence of romance, as well as some obsession with the author’s GG and the uncertainty of his motivation. The hero sort of develops, something rethinks, eventually changing beyond recognition, but at a certain point we see on the screen three Eren: one avenges the past, another saves friends, and the third generally seeks to remake the world.
Finally, one cannot but mention the pacifist orientation of AT. It is unpleasant to realize this, but such a correct and obvious message was not understood by many viewers. Instead of trying to understand the full extent of the tragedy of the war, to look at the world through the eyes of the enemy – aggression, xenophobia, and comments in the spirit of “Gabi, die...” or “Kill this one already...” Apparently, the results of years of propaganda make themselves felt. Down with empathy and reflection, there can only be one right! Although the author clearly shows how easy it is to move from one extreme to another, this is not obvious to everyone. In fact, the entire fourth season is a projection of the history of the 20th century. And those who haven't learned his lessons, AT, probably won't understand.
'I'll kill them all! I will wipe every one of them off the face of this earth!
Probably, there were no such connoisseurs of anime culture who did not watch 'The Attack of the Titans' however, I simply could not help writing reviews of such a masterpiece!
I would like to start with the fact that I really like those movies or TV shows that are constantly kept in suspense. Each episode throws up information and events, each episode makes you look at the screen with a faint heart and squeeze into the chair (or elsewhere) as if you were there, next to your favorite character. So, ' Attack' from the very first episode drags you into the abyss of rage, fear, hopelessness and despair. Before you is a world filled with huge human-like terrible monsters, in the center of which a boy of 10 years. The plot at first glance is simple: the main character opposes the cruel world, but this is only at first glance. World ' Attacks of the Titans' pretty well spelled out. At the first view there are no questions about the story. I want to say that there are no plot holes here, but there will always be a smart guy who will find them. With each episode, you can learn a little new about everything around you through additional information. It is served as a five-second insert of text with an image and it is called ' publicly available current information'. This information looks like an excerpt from a book or a report. Little change, that's nice! In general, the whole story is based on such small things. On the second view, you can see that almost the entire plot was presented to us in the first two seasons. This is insanely cool!
I want to talk about the characters separately. That the main characters, that the secondary characters are spelled out properly. Everyone has their own point of view on the current situation, everyone pursues their own goals, using some of their own ways to achieve it, and, importantly, the motivation of the characters is quite natural and understandable. The most important thing is that the characters feel alive, they develop, change their opinions or become stronger. In ' Attack' there are no negative and positive heroes, there are only living ones who fight for their lives at any cost, do what needs to be done.
Now I can get to the strongest part of this anime, which is the atmosphere. If you are a fan of military themes, then this title is for you! Uplifting morale music, brave soldiers going into battle and fearless, cruel enemy, instilling fear with its ugliness and unpredictability - all this creates mixed feelings, but you know one thing for sure: you are unlikely to find something like this & #39; Attack' When watching, I felt every fight as if I was fighting alongside the main characters, the fights were so well staged. Each episode containing a battle turns into blood and meat, screams ' I don't want to die' and so on. The emotions of a person who is devoured alive by a titan and the feelings of those who look at the death of a comrade are captivating to goosebumps. Before you notice how you are already mired in 'Attack', became her fan.
Summing up, we have: worked out characters and the world in which they live + the atmosphere of eternal war and struggle for survival and we get a masterpiece of Japanese animation. ' The attack of the Titans' made a huge impression on me and will most likely make on you. Be sure to watch!
I’ve been watching the anime for a very long time and it so happened that 5 times I watched Attack of the Titans at different times. Naturally, when I last reviewed it last year, I was much more understanding and able to analyze it compared to previous times.
What attracted me most was that as a result, the viewer realizes that there are neither positive nor negative characters in this anime. Each character has both vices and virtues. This pattern of characters brings them closer to reality, and the viewer can see in each something similar to themselves. All of the characters are amazing. Watching each of them change priorities, how the spirit weakens and how each sacrifices something fundamentally dear to him is very difficult, but interesting.
This anime for me is about choice, inner struggle with oneself, the desire for freedom and love of life, about difficulties and problems, about disappointment in people and oneself.
This anime solves a lot of problems. If you start talking about each, it will take a lot of time.
I advise everyone to watch this beautiful anime to understand that not everything is so categorical in life, that our life is still not about white and black stripes, but about making yourself, finding solutions in difficult situations and rethinking values and rebuilding yourself.
I have been watching this anime since 2013. Despite the loud and bright set, in season 1, it seemed to me that this is a typical youth shōnen where the brave protagonist, getting and pumping his powers (shingami, titans, hokage, magical guilds - you need to emphasize) defeats his enemies with the help of the power of friendship and rainbow from the...
But over time, I realized how wrong I was. Throughout the series (with the exception of a couple of moments (Rainer sit down) you don’t feel that the main characters are safe there, and all this in conditions of brutal realism. Such intense discomfort, horror, fear and of course righteous rage can not show every work. Therefore, any victories, from small to great, cause not fake joy and delight. It was the level of emotion that surprised me when I watched. However, emotions are of course good, but do not forget about the plot. You just have to understand this and already watch season 2.
“He who is not willing to make sacrifices cannot change anything. To defeat the monster, you must abandon humanity and become a monster yourself. "
In the continuation, we see a deepening into history. The tangle of intrigue that we think is beginning to unravel is finally raising more and more questions. The cost of answering these questions is constantly rising. At some point, you realize that this whole story is not about good people and bad titans. However, the series still does not give too long to think - since the cruelty of realism and insane in its degree and intensity of the battle has not disappeared anywhere. At the end of the second season, there is a feeling that you were deceived from the very beginning, as if everything was in front of the gases, but you were watching from the wrong angle. And in Season 3, we know we weren't wrong.
- What's going on? Is this hell?
- Nope. Hell is just beginning! Everybody attack!
The third season, not allowing the viewer to breathe out, again throws our heroes into attack on ... wait a minute. As I said above, all the inefficiencies about the world to us, seemingly already known, surface and this time come for the heroes themselves. This season puts the already known heroes in a series of morally difficult and cruel circumstances. The first series is not filled with epic battles, we get answers by observing not the main character, but his environment and secondary characters. Their disclosure, their stories, their motives. At the end of the first part of the season, we come to understand what kind of world this is and what power the main character has so dearly inherited.
The second part of the season is exactly the battles that I am sure everyone who has reached this point has managed to miss. The heroes are confident in their goal, the stakes are higher than ever, the enemy is still mysterious, terrible and cruel. A terrible massacre of half a season, in the end, tells us the whole story from the right angle. And it's not a pleasant story. The only question is, what’s next?
“There is no truth in this world. Everyone can become both a god and a devil as long as there are those who are willing to proclaim him as such.
The fourth and final season focuses entirely on the main character. His transformation, decisions and actions. What’s interesting is that it begins with the disclosure of negative characters. We are thrown 4 years ahead of the events of the previous season and shown how the enemies live. Add more gray to the narrative. And then he shows up. Our main character (?) acts simply monstrously towards everyone. No one knows what he thinks, no one knows what his purpose is. He's just creating total chaos. Our main character, who until this moment was so simple and understandable. He is the main mystery of the end of this story. And the fact that we as viewers understand why he became so, speaks to the genius of this work. And the answer to the main question why - see the title of the review.
In general, history makes you think about human nature and how fragile the world can be.
“It was at this point that I began to reflect on how it came to be. Soul and body broken. There is no freedom. Identity lost. If they knew what was coming, no one would go to war. However, something is constantly moving us, making people go to hell. Most of the time, we don't make the choices. We are forced by circumstances and environment. But those who voluntarily go to hell see it differently. They are looking for something beyond hell itself. Is there hope, or is there more hell? Only those who continue to go forward will understand this.
Separately, I want to praise the music, fans of Zimmer tracks, I am sure, will appreciate.
If you’ve read it before and haven’t started watching it yet.
And for good reason.
What is manga? It's a cheap version of the comic book that allows a person without a name to punch a good idea into the crowd. This is exactly the case. We're shown a story. The story is big, thought out almost to the smallest detail. It's like a big detective wall with threads linking facts and motivations.
Departures from the narrative, whether it is a weekday routine or a flashback always to place, are devoid of water. With them, the character, his act, especially wrong - as if the skeleton is overgrown with meat. You worry about the living, grieve in a place with them for the dead.
The plot at first is simply boring, overgrown with details, grabs by the nostrils and does not let go.
The only thing stopping is the end of the season and the lack of continuation. I sincerely envy those who will discover the series when the last episode comes out. Drinking it all at once is cool.
After all, in addition to the plot - there is cool music and expensive drawing.
10 out of 10
Attack of the Titans is an anime with ironic references to the era of bloody historical events. This 'cover for life' and makes it so logical and down to earth, and the characters alive and special. Despite the fact that from the first series we see complete madness on the screen and a series of tragic incidents, the overall picture of the world is quite simple and understandable. And the plot very competently and timely reveals this ' the general picture' on what is happening. By the end of season 3, we will know the truth. Perhaps someone by that time began to draw parallels between the events of anime and the tragic events of the 20th century. If not, the opening season 4 finally makes it clear what Hajime Isayama hinted at.
From the point of view of the characters, we see both the growth of personality and the destruction of the inner world. Cruel World ' Attacks of the Titans' involves the heroes in the thick of events. Some of them are killed, some of them are killed. Yes, there are many deaths in this anime, which is why it is so skillfully compared with Game of Thrones.
From the beginning, it is an anime with blurred boundaries. Blurred definitions of good and evil, the comparison of simple-minded and cruel worlds literally in one series, colorful characters forced to coexist and survive side by side. Mirrored Season 4 generally makes you sympathize with the antagonists, after revealing their storylines. And here is already erased the concept ' antagonist' It is even easier to assign it to such beloved heroes, but the heart does not allow it. The attack of the Titans is no longer just an anime, it is a tragedy that deserves attention.
Ideals, friendships, and debt are hard times. Why should I watch the series?
The Titan Attack was the first anime I watched in my life, breaking the barrier of prejudice against Japanese animation. As I now realize, absolutely unfounded.
This story tells of human duty, valor and zeal in the most difficult and troubled times for all known heroes of the World. The story revolves around, as is often the case in anime, three friends. Here it is Eren, Mikasa and Armin, who have held on to each other since childhood and together experience a catastrophe with the invasion of two, so to speak, supertitans on their land. Eren's personal tragedy has ignited a rage in his heart that will not go out throughout the plot. All three friends go to serve their homeland after Eren, despite the terrible risk of dying in the womb of a titan.
Remarkably, the series can almost unpredictably kill the character, or vice versa to leave alive (the latter happens much less often). I was delighted by the series largely because of the ornate, original and seriously written plot, but especially because of the incredible mental monologues of some characters, where they talk about their fears on the battlefield, about the horrors of war, about military duty, about trusting friends, about relationships with family people and much more, which will surely resonate in your mind.
One of the best monologues sounded at the end of the third season in the head of one grated and battered soldier. When you look, you will understand, I will not name names.
Naturally, this story is metaphorical and the whole entourage of a certain post-apocalypse can be discarded by reasoning about the human fates described in this work. Here it is perfectly shown that every strong person is tempered by a difficult fate, losses and disappointments, through which he goes for the sake of loved ones and their ideals.
Now for the minuses. He's here alone, season 4. I don’t know, honestly, what influenced me more: a huge number of secondary unwritten characters who die faster than you get to know them, reduced to primitive characters who were left either a complete aura of mystery, or one character trait, another drawing, or the fact that season 4 was made by another director and studio. I think all this is the case as a cause. I just couldn’t feel it as a continuation of that story.
I’m looking forward to continuing the final season, even though I’ve already watched the ending of the manga online.
If anyone is too lazy to read this, then go look. I wanted to pour out my soul rather than write a review of five words of praise.
Preface. To begin with, I would like to describe my attitude to the anime genre and user reviews. Anime, as a separate genre, is an example of absolutely meaningless, template and talentless cinema for a mass audience, and if you can give an example of a good anime, it will only be children's cartoons of a well-known director. However, anime is replete with all sorts of curves, stupid infantile jokes, which suggests the age of the audience to whom all this is intended. However, this did not prevent me from giving this series such a high rating.
I also wanted to say that all user (most) reviews, not only for this series and not only on the KinoPoisk, are written according to the same rule, because it is much easier to write about genius, endlessly praising everything with new epithets, without any specifics, than to objectively talk about the movie, right? I will try to avoid such behavior.
Peace. This is probably the main advantage of the series. It is all about its originality and how well it is written. The wall, the titans and the Middle Ages are all that the authors have added, but how the world is transformed under it. It is worth remembering only the scene where the characters found a forbidden ancient book about the outside world, where it is said that most of the world is occupied by the sea and that it is salty, but salt is so expensive among merchants, this can not be. At these moments, you are soaked in the romance of this world and begin to empathize with the heroes. Also original is the moment that any information about the world (for example, the number of layers of walls and the distance between them) is explained with the help of stylized inserts between the scenes, such a competent approach deserves deep respect.
Soundtrack. Again, let me tell you that the series is original. Like everyone’s favorite opening, and music in the series. “It may be original, but what about its quality?” I am not a music teacher, but the music in the series is well selected and helps the world to open up, in general, I liked it.
Drawing and effects. I also wanted to thank the people who worked on color correction and post-processing. Thank you! And the drawing is typical, anime (I do not like it very much, imho).
Plot. To begin with, I will say that there is no place for children’s stories, the presence of jokes in the series is minimal, but blood has spilled – cannot be measured. In the center of the story is, sadly, unoriginal plot, but is the standard of the genre. If you describe in a nutshell, trying to escape the details, you will get a familiar story about a boy who, under the pressure of circumstances, is forced to become strong bypassing all obstacles. Does that ring a bell? If you only remember the anime, then come to mind “Tokyo Gul”, “Volleyball”, “Naruto”, “The Blade that dissects demons” and many, many things. Why did I, the author, appreciate this Attack of the Titans so well, history after all - the most important thing! I agree with that, so I gave such a high rating, because the plot of the series turned out to be very good. But let’s get to the point.
Characters (who don't want spoilers, skip). Eren is the same boy, everyone already knows his image. He is forced to fulfill his dream of exterminating all the Titans because they ate his mother. Painfully straightforward, but this is the cons of it ends, and when you look closely, it is not as simple as it seems. His feelings are transmitted very naturally and harmoniously, when watching Eren does not cause thoughts that he is mediocre.
Mikasa. Around the relationship of these two characters and built the series. The world is lighting up with its murders, banditry, the loss of loved ones. Mikasa is a girl who lost two mothers as a teenager, who promised to be strong and protect her remaining friend and half-brother, Eren.
The plot is not strong with its special characters, but with their relationships. Help in a difficult situation and, of course, grief from the loss of friends and relatives are behind every hero.
The plot of the series is nonlinear and not black and white. The series tries to question moralists, but cynics from the cruelty of the world will want to reconsider their views on life. Judge for yourself, you are, say, behind the second layer of the wall, you learned that people behind the first wall had a collapse and this sea of people running to you to seek protection. Your attitude? And provided these people are hungry, just like you? What would you do? Complex moral choices are the main feature of dramaturgy in cinema.
Over. All people are greedy and stingy, there will always be violence and murder in the world. What about the show? A rare example of a bloody drama with a non-standard world.

As the author of the manga wrote, the idea of “Attacks of the Titans” was born during a visit to one of the cafes. A visitor to the cafeteria “a little” went through with alcohol, and tried to prove something to the staff. Inadequate drinking behavior became the basis for the birth of Titans. The author imagined what would happen to humanity if he was attacked by giants who would behave like that visitor.
The plot of the anime series “Attack of the Titans” tells us how the inhabitants of the kingdom for centuries suffered from the attack of the Titans – giant people from 3 to 15 meters tall, took from nowhere. To save its people, the royal dynasty built three rows of walls, inside which the surviving citizens gathered.
Eren Jaeger, our hero, is just one of those residents. Together with their adopted sister and friend Armin, they dream of visiting the walls and seeing the world around them. The boys are sure that the walls of the kingdom will protect them from the titans, and the royal army will come up with something. Just during one of these conversations appears Colossal - a giant titanium, rising above the walls, and the gates of the walls are destroyed by the Armored Titan. In the broken gates begin to enter the Titans.
Eren and his sister and Armin miraculously escape this hell. They have lost their families and do not know where to go. The guys decide to join a special intelligence unit that fights the Titans.
I will tell you right away, who does not like bloody scenes, the anime series will definitely not like. But, the storyline makes with fading to follow the characters with the release of each series. The character of Eren Jaeger undergoes changes, having received all the information, our hero changes his goal. No matter how criticized he was, I would do the same, for the genocide of the people he decided to respond with genocide to the whole world, and in what way, you will understand, after reviewing everything to the end.
A well-thought-out storyline; memorable characters; high-quality graphics; the truth that the warring parties adhere to is that little for which it is worth watching the anime series Attack of the Titans.

I will say right away: I am far from a fan of such a genre as Anime and everything related to it. All these squinted faces and screaming girls with big heads from an early age caused me only horror and misunderstanding. But it was in the 90s, when this case has only just begun to gain popularity, but not so long ago my friends advised me to watch a cartoon about some titans. All right.
With grief in half, I agreed, prepared for another children’s thrash in the style of Sailor Moon and... stunned. Guys, this is something! I have never seen a cartoon like this where war, death, the pain of loss and all that people who get to the front can experience so well.
There are no blue-eyed naive girls in short skirts, no stupid jokes, characters with “subject armor” and rainbow pony. There is only the last stronghold of humanity, which is surrounded on all sides by giant monsters capable of tearing any person to the floors.
And if you still watch the first series, frowning forehead, then after a few hours you do not notice how the first season has already passed its meter equator. The plot develops quickly, constantly keeps in suspense and does not let you get bored, and each series leaves more questions than answers. A lot, of course, in the end you have to think independently, but is it bad?
Separately, I want to note a good drawing and a memorable main soundtrack, from which the blood in the veins gets cold.
I watched the first two seasons and I keep looking.

It only makes sense to watch the first two seasons.
Season 1 and Season 2
I highly recommend this anime to those who, like me, are not a big fan of the anime genre. I don’t like stories in which some friends fight evil using their superhero abilities. The Titan attack is something else. This is a story about the survival of humanity and the struggle for freedom. This is not a trivial story where there are enemies with superpowers and the main characters are trying to defeat them. Titans are a real disaster and a threat of extinction for all mankind. I think after the fifth series I couldn’t stop and I watched the whole season in a few days. Very interesting and exciting story.
It is worth saying separately about animation and drawing: they are incomparable! I can say the same about music. A great soundtrack and high-quality drawing create unforgettable powerful scenes! For this reason, I sometimes revisit some points. They are very well made
Season 3 and Season 4 (small spoiler)
This is where the whole story has changed. Starting with season 3, the idea of this anime turned into a banal political conflict between people, which I really didn’t like. I started watching this anime because I wanted to see a story about survival, about the struggle of people for a bright world without Titans! In the end I got something completely different.
I’m not talking about season 4 and the manga finale. This is the worst ending I've ever seen. This is much worse than the last season of Game of Thrones. I know a lot of fans loved the ending of the Titan Attack. Personally, she deeply disappointed me, because the idea and genre of anime completely changed. I wanted to see a story about war, friendship, camaraderie, betrayal, people’s desire to live freely outside these walls. Recent seasons have completely erased these ideas and turned into some other reality.
I advise you to watch the first two seasons and stop there. You can even stop at the first and make for yourself ' Open final'.
I only give a positive assessment for the first two seasons.
I have a small opinion, it can hardly be called a review.
1. The plot is thought through to the end at once. It feels like the final season was worked out with the first. There are almost no forgotten characters without a reason, dead ends in the narrative (or there are none at all). That's nice.
2. Compared to Naruto, there is no ' trick reception, which was also a false move'. Real thoughts, real ideas that can lead to an irreparable outcome. There are no super geniuses who decide the outcome of a battle before it begins. That's good.
3. Unusually much 'for the sake of humanity'. But I think it's a feature of Japanese culture and their sense of purpose. You get used to it relatively quickly.
4. Not many digressions to the past of the heroes (also a stone in the garden of Naruto). They are, but logical and necessary to understand that we are all human and everything has its own reason.
The bottom line is, I don't regret watching. The fourth season did not want to start. But I didn't.
The best anime I've seen so far. The first thing that catches your eye is the drawing, it is gorgeous. The second is music, which perfectly complements what is happening. Plot. Initially, I thought it was a simple anime, with a banal plot, but it turned out to be quite different. Literally, each series keeps in suspense (with rare exceptions). Another characteristic of this anime is realism. Characters here die and die often. At the same time, their death shows the viewer as she is, sometimes not at all heroic. So you get acquainted with the character, learn his story, motivation, and after a few episodes he is torn in half by a titan. 10/5
