Blood Valley. After an obsessive bachelorette party, Christine and her friends drive down the highway through the scorching Phoenix Valley, but they did not know that surviving serial killer Max Sid and his insane family prepared the girls a sadistic massacre.
In 2014, Marcel Waltz, my friend and well-known indie thrashmaker, founder of the Matador Films label, releases his film Sid 2 on a small budget of $ 1,200,000, which is a direct sequel to Sid 2007, directed by Uwe Ball.
The first “Sid” was a rather gloomy and heavy thriller, in which a gray palette of colors prevailed, while the second part of the processions of the resurrected maniac is a completely opposite tape, bright and rich, having nothing in common with the previous part, which makes it seem that this tape is an independent slasher.
The plot of the tape is quite simple for the genre, and does not shine with anything new, and many will immediately think that we are waiting for the most primitive thrust, which in fact saw, but the authors used a rather original, albeit in some places incomprehensible, method of synopsis presentation, scattering separated fragments of the film throughout the timekeeping, and with every minute in front of the viewer the entire picture of tense events is restored in pieces, and it seems that the outcome is so close and clear, but at one moment the creators manage to shock us with quite unexpected and an explanation after the original...
The murders and scenes of abundant bloodshed, to which the work of the master of special effects Ryan Nicholson , looks very juicy, nauseous and naturalistic, reaching a high level of splitters and sadistic gore tapes.
The cast is selected quite skillfully, and the actors play well within the genre, delighting with the fact that they constantly communicate with each other, thereby giving the viewer to learn something new from the lives of the heroes: Natalie Schitz well played the heroine, in the soul of which a pure hell is created due to recent events in his personal life, did not inferior to her and the German scream queen Annika Strauss, Krista Campbell and extreme model Sarah Hayden, who, due to her modernized appearance, will catch the attention of the viewer, looked great in the episode of the horror icon , if the film is not inferior to Sidohrob>
Composer Klaus Pfrounder picked up a rather dual sound, which on the one hand, although it adds suspense, but on the other, in some moments it sounds quite ridiculous and inappropriate.
The operator Dave Meyers shot at a fairly high level, not sparing diversity and various contrast effects to convey the whole atmosphere, and large-scale shooting of desert landscapes of the Valley of Fire really deserve respect, because very rarely horrors are filmed in such unusual natural places.
Bottom line: “Sid 2: The New Generation”, as for me, is a fairly high-quality, interesting and dynamic hybrid of a tense old-school slasher and bloody splitterfic gore, according to this tape I can recommend to every lover of this genre.
7.5 out of 10
P.S. Do not turn off the film immediately - after the credits there is a rather important part that has a hint of a triquel.
