Vincent Price – free interpretation of the Wax Museum Almost immediately after the release of the “Museum of wax figures” Andre de Toth began work on a free interpretation of this film. John Brahm offered an almost identical story to the audience, with one exception. Instead of wax figures, the main character was obsessed with tricks. The further development of events is easy to predict - only the betrayal of a business partner is replaced by legal nuances associated with the intricacies of the labor contract. Extensive interpretation of obligations, so similar to a bonded deal, insult and explosion of rage. The rest is nothing more than a stream of consciousness. The most important thing is that we are labeled a charming villain and hint at a sinister secret. That’s where Eyes Without a Face and numerous movies about Dr. Orlof and his colleagues draw their inspiration.
Vincent Price then only asserted his new “horror” role, which accompanied him further to the very end. However, despite all the understandable repetition of the tape, the inspired obsession that the actor breathed into his character gave the picture an impetus. Vincent Price was persuasive in offering a modern interpretation of Lon Cheney’s charisma with the cynicism, irony and immediacy of the new era. It was one hundred percent hit on target.
