The idea is very good, the advertising campaign is also great posters, interviews with actors, the atmosphere of a good movie created.
On the way out, to my great regret, it turned out strange. Strange, due to the stratification of the film into several storylines that minimally intersect with each other and do not support each other. Provided that there are lines, the presence of which causes frank bewilderment, as in the case of a line with an underground casino, which ends in five minutes completely cut off, by the middle of the film is porridge from the reflections of the main character for other people's lives, to him absolutely nothing to do. The character of Khabensky, unfortunately, looks like a figure frankly created to increase timekeeping, since empty conflicts and the same empty scenes with meaningless dialogues of the protagonist with his father, perhaps one of the strangest in the film.
But, be sure to make a reservation that the casting is excellent, the camera work is more than good and in general, when it comes to the script, everything is very cool. The actors are very organic, the main actor can see that he really lived this film and for him it is very important. And that's great. For him as an actor to work with such quantities as Efremov and Khabensky.
But for the viewer, alas, this is not the main thing, because unfortunately, pretty sagging and delaying the viewer’s attention on empty scenes and storylines, the film comes to an end suddenly understands that it is time to end and as a grumpy host to the delayed guests, pushes the viewer out of the difficult situations created by himself, a scene with common dances and closing credits for the main characters in the style ' And here we simply did not come up. Good luck to you, too, 39. And you understand that the meaning, thought and in general the need for a film just watched finally eludes.

I don’t think I would be lying if I said that comedy is the most popular genre in our cinema today. If you want to make a lot of money relatively easily, call Dmitry Nagiyev, Sergey Svetlakov, or whoever is in the main comedians. Of course, all these masterpieces ' are similar to each other to a degree of confusion and, let’s say, do not differ in particular artistic merits. Fortunately, there are other comedies. Such as 'Good Boy'.
The film is shot at the junction of genres - it is both a comedy and a kind of experimental musical. And if you expect that this film is about a modern school, then it is in vain - in ' Good Boy' much more in common with Tarantino and Guy Ritchie. Here you and the headmaster of the school with clearly unearned income, and a fatal beauty, a connection with which can have consequences, and hooligans, and even maniacs. Add another great love story of a ninth-grader and teacher, the brilliant output of Konstantin Khabensky as a prophet of healthy lifestyle and a few more ingredients.
The main thing is that all this crazy combination really works! 'Good boy' does not lack a sense of humor, memorable characters, or dramatic scenes, and dance numbers are pleasant to watch.
Predictably, the authors were better at the lyrical line than the adventurous. A spectacular explanation on the embankment, a scene with a balcony and a hat, dialogues with the beautiful Alice Denisovna - all this is very strong, very powerful. In these moments, you understand why the film received 'Kinotavr'. But the themes associated with the adventures of Treskunov in the adult world, and the detective line about the fire closer to the final somehow dissolve.
With acting in 'The Good Boy' everything is fine too. Semyon Treskunov can really count on a great future - the role of a teenager in the search for love and truth he succeeded brilliantly. I really liked the actor, who played his best friend Spitch, it was very natural and direct. Pal, oddly enough, again attracts attention - his Stanislav Ilyich turned out simply luxurious, although in the film it is much less than the heroes of Efremov and Khabensky.
': A Good Boy' is a great picture. Personally, I lacked some kind of completeness - in my opinion, it was possible to think through the storylines better, to make them brighter. But I'm sure nerds like me will be a minority.
I want to hug the filmmakers: they tried. They honestly wanted to make a good, kind, ironic movie about good teenagers and good adults. In part, this succeeded, and the film, even with all its shortcomings, leaves a pleasant impression: its characters (mostly) look like real people; the story (in some places) is quite fascinating, despite the absence of crime and blackness in it; the script (sometimes) throws up paradoxical and funny situations; dialogues (sometimes) are interesting and funny. What's stopping all this? The lack of a coherent plot core, which is why the story, having started well, somewhere after the fire at the school begins to fall apart and turn into a set of almost unrelated sketches on individual topics, some of which are successful, and some are not at all necessary.
It was possible to make a fire the start of an adventure or detective story, it was possible to intrigue around the confrontation with Bagdasar – instead, the authors focused almost entirely on the love anguish of the hero. This is certainly their conscious choice (wanted to get away from the cliches?), but as a result, the plot crumbles, the most interesting secondary characters (Papa-Khabensky, Spitch) go to the margins of history, or even disappear for a long time, but we are forced to admire (imho) the most uninteresting: Xusha and Alice Denisovna (both heroines, in my opinion, are written without inspiration, and the choice of actresses does not help). Things like Kohli’s luck, Pisun’s sudden release, and the final Indian dances look like fake numbers added to the program at the last minute to save the day. When there is no plot, it remains only to occupy the attention of the audience with tricks and attractions.
Nevertheless, it is good that this film is: it has great finds, almost the entire line of Kohli’s parents is successful, the main character is extremely cute – and, in the current context, this is a rare example of a film that somewhere in our country (about the River Station area) there are, it turns out, normal people and normal life. The audience was full, people were having fun, so I wish the writers, the director and the producers success, and let their next film be better.
Somehow it became joyful and bright from the fact that we had a fracture, if such an extraordinary film is in the cinema.
Although the beginning is controversial for me personally: the topic of teenage sexuality begins to be revealed so sharply that there were fears that everything will fall into vulgarity, but that is the highlight of this film - it skillfully balances ... but does not cross the boundaries of what is allowed.
The plot famously grows into something more than a grotesque and sitcom.
Dialogue is a separate topic.
Some things are just catchy phrases, I think.
The hero of Khabensky especially succeeded in this.
In general, the famously twisted plot, an action thriller, comedy, melodrama, drama merged into one. And most importantly, the story of growing up with a bright end.
You will not regret it!
I even had to start an account here to tell you that this movie is worth watching!
For the first time in many years of watching domestic (modern) cinema after the session, there was a thought that we should reconsider! It's expensive.
The only thing - the film is still focused on an adult audience, as I think it is 18+.

Just because we laughed to the ground over non-trivial jokes and the hope of a renaissance in our cinema.
After all the high-profile promises, bright posters and all the positive reviews to go to the premiere, even somehow I wanted to. Probably played a role in the past experience of watching a publicized movie. Loud words in our cinema often turn out to be puff. There were three factors that changed my mind.
The first, he is also the main: before the premiere of “Good Boy” there was not as much noise as it usually happens in passing comedies, and this somehow inspired hope. The second is that a number of reputable resources have written praise for the film. And the third: Treskunov himself, who plays the main role, liked me even in Ghost, although the Ghost itself was frankly average. I wanted to see how young talent has grown over the years.
And just for the general impression: the film is good. Film critics didn't lie. Sensitive to emotions and feelings, the friend was generally delighted. I was happy that ours finally did not shoot a primitive comedy, but a really smart and funny thing, but not boring and banal.
Excellent actors in excellent roles, a lot of good, kind and at the same time not dull, like Hitler kaput humor, ordinary and at the same time non-standard life situations - in general, all this turned out quite great, albeit in places rough.
View the film motivated of course quite a dynamic trailer - when you see Khabensky in the role ' brother of Napoleon Dynamite', the film I want to go. The film is pleasant, not vulgar as it usually happens, but there is no Soviet naivety.
The team picked up the soundtrack well, which is generally a rarity for films starting with the screensaver of the Cinema Foundation. The storyline, although simple, but contains a certain intrigue, script humor and characters of the characters also make you raise your thumb up for the director, but...
Despite the fact that the film has a healthy crazy father of the family, ' wonderful man' Efremov and phlegmatic computer scientist, I want to ask the authors.
Who do you want to make a movie about?
Whether the film was an attempt to shoot a poncho from the flaps of Courier, Crochet's Vacation and American youth comedies is not clear. But I have not seen such a faceless youth in films for a long time.
Fashionable Moscow schoolchildren on merch Sputnik 1985 and In vain Youth - where in the film is your music? Your hobbies? Your idols? Who is the hero of this generation is not clear.
These are not Soviet pioneers-romantics from 100 days of summer, and not bright personalities from the Breakfast Club, they are not even scoundrels from Dear Elena Sergeevna. The main characters from among the youth are simply not good or bad like half-skinhead half-punk flashing in the frame of the first half of the film, but not manifesting itself in any way. Some absolutely amorphous jelly of the era of stagnation against the background of very bright Khabensky and Efremov. Ilyich and Smirnov as if from Napolen Dynamite, the director is an adult, but not lost the light Ferris Buehler. But Xenia, Nikolai and Spitch... just an extra Yeralash. Why couldn’t they be made brighter?
Evaluating the “Good Boy” is not easy. At least because his competitors in the genre the Boy puts on the shoulder blades of one left - at least humor, which here, forgive me, is not stupid and not worn.
Or actors who are really actors, and not already familiar Kamediklabians or Khabensky, who, albeit beautiful completely, but, to put it mildly, not too picky about what to star in.
Or a plot that seems to be easy to understand, but at the same time is so painstakingly worked out that you want to review the film still to consider and feel the details that did not coalesce the first time.
“The Good Boy” is at least the best comedy of the year, and many times better than anything I’ve seen recently. Of course, not without flaws, but they do not catch the eye. But there are many advantages, both objective and diverse and seemingly insignificant details that I personally liked. I'll tell you about them.
In addition to Treskunov himself, who, of course, took a large share of screen time, I wanted to look at two more familiar actors - Pal and Khabensky. The first played an autistic and verbose computer science teacher and, unfortunately, almost did not appear in the frame, but Khabensky in the image of the head of the family is simply magnificent. Well, I will not talk about Efremov – let’s say, it would be strange if the role (any) he frankly failed.
Another bonus of the film is high-quality and professionally staged choreography. Of course, a school full of talented dancers doesn’t look quite natural, but in the end it’s not life, it’s cinema. And the movie, I have to say, is great.
The domestic film “Good Boy” tells about a week in the life of an ordinary schoolboy Koli Smirnov. During these seven days, Kolya becomes a participant in many events that later intertwine with each other: the hero arranges an affair with an English teacher, a fire happens at the school, and besides, the daughter of the school principal falls in love with Kolya, thinking that he organized a fire for her.
Although the plot of the tape can hardly be called unpredictable and original, it is pleasant and interesting to watch what is happening. There are a lot of different storylines in the film, but between them the viewer will not get confused during viewing, despite their abundance, each of the lines smoothly develops and comes to a logical conclusion. Despite the small timekeeping, almost all the characters manage to open up enough that the audience has a desire to empathize with them.
But the main thing that pleased the plot of “The Good Boy” is his unobtrusive and intelligent morality about love and life. I didn’t expect this movie to make me think and think.
In terms of acting, it's all right. Almost all the actors of Good Boy do their job well, playing sincerely and diligently. Semyon Treskunov, the lead actor, left exceptionally positive emotions with his play. He perfectly played a character who is either insecure or capable of taking risks. Mikhail Efremov and Konstantin Khabensky in “The Good Boy” again show their acting skills in full. I would also like to mention Alexander Pal. The actor played the role of computer science teacher Stanislav Ilyich very naturally. In the eyes of his character, there was always sincerity.
One of the main genres of this picture is comedy. Humor does not occupy the last place. However, the comedy component was quite controversial. Although infrequently, in "The Good Boy" skip useful and even great jokes. However, more often, humor causes a sense of embarrassment, forcing the viewer to be in an awkward silence. But still that small number of really funny jokes in general pulls the comedy component.
In general, “The Good Boy” is a pleasant, heartfelt and, I will not fear the word, smart film. Although the picture lacks stars from the sky, it is quite capable of leaving a small mark in the soul of the viewer.
Kolya Smirnov (Semen Treskunov) is a smart, smart high school student who studies well, quietly spends his free time, and, as befits teenagers, easily falls in love. Kole likes a pretty young English teacher (Ieva Andreevai), but another young lady looms on the horizon - a popular girl Ksyusha (Anastasia Bogatyreva), the daughter of the school principal. Dealing with the feelings of a guy is already difficult, and the fire at the school only aggravates this case. Who is to blame and what to do?
Rarely on the Russian screen appear bright, kind films, after which the soul becomes more joyful. Even less often there are pictures of witty – and, without a shadow of vulgarity, jokes “below the belt” or any “haha” in the spirit of memes from social networks. Our comedies seem to have their own “face” – and this face, perhaps, belongs to Sergey Svetlakov, who, moreover, looks at us daily with a striped advertisement of a famous mobile operator, offers to order delicious pizza from another company, gazes at the poster of another film, where his Ural accent and agrarian appearance again came to the place.
But Svetlakov is still comedies for adults, and teenagers, for lack of suitable cinematic content for them, either have to laugh at jokes that they do not really understand, or watch blockbusters, for which in principle, you do not need to have a sense of humor, as well as a big mind. “The Good Boy” directed by Oksana Karas and screenwriter Mikhail Mestetsky solves this problem, offering the viewer to immerse himself not in the world of “little adults”, but in the world of teenagers. The targeting of the film is worthy of applause - the whole picture, every small detail of it is one hundred percent sharpened for an audience of 12-16 years.
The main character – red, honest, in love Kolya Smirnov – not without reason has such a traditional name: this “good boy” is a collective, typical image of all the “good boys” of our country who study at school, think a lot about girls, listen to parents’ instructions every day, laugh at teachers and know that the answer to any question can be found in Wikipedia, and learning Chinese today is much more relevant than English. Kolya, despite all his “usuality”, has one (the most important!) quality that has not been praised by domestic filmmakers for a long time – he sincerely believes in good and justice, sees the line between black and white, what is good and what is bad. This boy seems to be partly the successor of Ivan from Shakhnazarov’s “Courier”, who wonders how one can live if one does not do what one wants, partly by some younger brother of Danila Bagrov, equally naive and sincere, partly impressionable, subtle and funny Bones Inochkin from “Welcome, or Outsiders are forbidden entry.”
The parallels of The Good Boy with the films of the last century are no coincidence – both the images and the picture refer us more to Soviet Russia than to today. Kohli’s father, who was stunningly performed by Konstantin Khabensky, with his sports suit from the 80s, glasses in a horn frame, the habit of hiding contraceptives under a flower pot and denying everything “new-fashioned” and modern – like a typical resident of the “owl”, by the will of fate found himself in an alien era. The headmaster of the school performed by Mikhail Efremov also surprisingly fits into this canvas – this is a modern comrade Dynin, who knows a lot about organizing school holidays and is very comical in his attempts to lead the team for a couple with the head teacher (Tatiana Dogileva), who makes her pupils dance polka instead of hip-hop.
All the carefully written characters of “The Good Boy” – people are not simple, with their “dots” and strange actions. Here is the headmaster of the school seems to be a “cool man”, and in the evenings hangs in the hall of slot machines and cheats on his wife, but his dark and bright sides coexist perfectly together. Entering into interaction with others, getting to know them closer, Kolya Smirnov truly grows up, becomes “not a boy, but a husband”, realizing that there are definitely no bad and one hundred percent good people, that they need to be able to understand.
This a little old-fashioned, youthful awkward, but honest and bright picture, reminiscent of the full meter of the series of zero “Simple truths” – a good omen that the niche of films “for children and youth” has not disappeared, but simply vacant for a long time, buried under the hyperrealism and black Valeria Guy Germanika with her “School” or the cruel “Class of correction” of Ivan Tverdovsky. Although the story told in The Good Boy is very simple and ends with a real Bollywood, it fortunately does not postulate or protest anything. It just gives pleasure, and this for “teenage light-lakivshchina” is quite enough.

To say that the film from ours, and even with such an inconspicuous name, a head above many domestic crafts does not make sense. I wouldn't believe it myself if I heard it. But the fact remains that “The Good Boy” turned out to be a fun and, more importantly, smart comedy with meaning and morality, which the creators do not wave obsessively before their eyes every three minutes.
So what is it about?
As such, there is no central plot line. “Good Boy” shows ninth grader Kolya, who lives the next week of his life. Very busy living, along the way accumulating life experience for the year ahead. And the seemingly unprominent story would have come out had it not been for Colin’s principles calling him to enter into an unequal battle with the injustice of life.
And now he is already struggling with a clearly conspiring school principal, protecting a young and pretty school teacher of English, investigating the arson of the school, dodging the whims of a mad father, and along the way building a relationship with the most skater girl in the school. He has a lot to worry about.
The entire action on the screen is based not only on a thoughtful script, but also on a bright cast. Firstly, Treskunov himself, who after a high-quality “Ghost” again jumped above his head, no longer leaving himself a chance to become a passing actor in the future. Secondly, a whole bunch of famous Russian stars like the talented Efremov, Pal, flashing more and more often, and simply chic Khabensky in the role of a mad scientist. Although there were a few weak actresses in the background, there was nothing critical.
And the only weak point seemed to me a long ending, although this is the sin of many films. “The Good Boy” is more than a great comedy that gives new hopes for Russian cinema.
I want to thank the director for this wonderful work. It is a pity that so few worthy Russian comedies come out on the big screens. Almost all screen time is often filled with various "Bitter", "Groom" and other slag.
In this film everything is so good that sometimes I can not believe that this is a Russian comedy in our time. At first it seems a little strange, but you quickly get used to it and get into this atmosphere that combines different styles. The most important thing is that there is a wonderful humor that makes this film so easy and relaxed. In such a short time it was able to show and reveal the history and character of each hero. A huge plus also want to put for the cast. Efremov and Khabensky, as it seems to me not quite in the usual images for them, coped perfectly, were very stylish and funny. And young actors one hundred percent fit into this story and perfectly coped with the elaboration of each character. I especially want to highlight Semen Treskunov. Very young and talented guy with impeccable charisma.
The movie is kind, funny and creative, with wonderful musical inserts. It was able to accommodate both funny moments and rather serious life situations. Even if there were mistakes in some scenes, the whole atmosphere of the film as a whole smooths it out. Oh, and what a beautiful visual set. Gentle shades of yellow, old porches and hipster sneakers.
You know less, you sleep better. Don't stick your nose where you shouldn't. You're the smartest kid, and what do you need the most? These phrases can briefly describe the new Russian film Good Boy. I will tell you about the impressions without spoilers.
In short, here is another doomed to failure in the box office Russian film. Why doomed, you ask? Because it's good. The film is at 14+, but it’s much more superficial. It's simple. It's social. Social drama, modern. Something like that.
The film The Good Boy is partly about childhood naivety. And stupid. About rash snap decisions and a little bit about romance. Without a deep moral, very "simple" in every sense of the word. Quite superficial, but at the same time quite interesting.
Semyon Treskunov and Mikhail Efremov are the same couple who pull the entire film on themselves. While Khabensky, unlike the recent Collector, did not fit into the role in the best way, and his character is too unnatural.
Totally. This film is not a revelation like the 14+ movie was. This film does not play on emotions and does not fall into the soul like the same Box. Good Boy is quite a simple, easy movie, albeit with an attempt to reveal a deep idea. It's definitely worth seeing for once. But our viewer does not go to such GOOD films, he does not know about their existence in the end, but he goes to Sarik and Mikhalkov with Bondarchuk, and then spits on the topic “they cannot shoot.” They know how to shoot, friends, you go the wrong way. That’s why filmmakers don’t give much cinema. Why movies do not pay off and you will continue instead of a good quality interesting movie, another slag is presented for the new year and holidays. Greetings to future Defenders and Attraction, which will be released in early 2017. Apparently, the mass audience deserves such a movie. And about films-pearls like 14+, Boxes and some others – we will find out here only on sites like this, only those who are really interested in the topic.
' A Good Boy' dedicated to a week in the life of an ordinary (actually not) schoolboy Koli Smirnov. Just one, but what! A couple of whirlwind romances, a suspicious fire, a fight with a high school alpha male, and more - many in ninth grade would love to have such a tumultuous life. And although from the outside it may seem like a synopsis of something like 'American Pie' in fact 'Good Boy' is much better.
The secret to his success, in my opinion, is a very proper combination of funny and important. On the one hand, the film is designed in an emphatically comedic vein. This is a colloquial comedy, which is regrettably few in our cinema, with without exaggeration magnificent dialogue - something like ' Inadequate people', only better. This is a comedy of positions where you do not need words at all - take at least a scene in which the boy Kolya climbs onto the balcony of the fateful Alice Denisovna. That film goes somewhere in the territory of criminal comedy, and does it so easily and unobtrusively, as our filmmakers have never been able to.
On the other hand, the film is really about the important. It is about how a young, unspoiled by compromises young man enters – or rather breaks into – adult life, which is all built on these compromises, deals with himself and others. That we all miss this inner Koli Smirnov from time to time, saying things that we are ashamed and afraid to admit to ourselves. They are eternal values that do not change from generation to generation.
And all this is wrapped in a bright cover of a carnival film, where you never know in advance which piano will jump out of the bushes or when everyone will suddenly start showing Jamaican rhythms - the find is amazing, I must admit, but successful.
As a result, when you leave the cinema, you experience a whole bunch of different, sometimes contradictory feelings. And among them is a sense of joy that our cinema is capable of producing such pictures.
Over the past year, a strange thing happened: I began to trust domestic filmmakers, look at their posters and watch trailers. I noticed that there was a noticeable progress in Russian cinema, and I subsequently had hopes for it.
Western, of course, it is cooler, more expensive and more spectacular, but ours is closer and closer. In short, I’ve seen a lot of our movies this year and I’ve almost never been upset.
': A good boy ' he was the least credible. The trailer is very confusing, so I didn’t know what to expect. It's for the best. They would have told me then that I would see a serious comedy about the restructuring of the child’s personality through a series of ordinary everyday circumstances, and I probably would not have dared to go – I would have thought that despite all the progress, it’s too early to shoot such a thing, after ' The best films.
However, Good Boy does claim to be a good, serious and big movie, albeit a comedy. Just comedy is not in the usual format for the Russian viewer flat, like helminths, humor with jokes, plowing the expanses of the Internet for ten years.
And here humor is at least an order of magnitude more difficult to perceive, but it is quite understandable and, most importantly, fresh. But they are not the only ones living the movie.
In general, he talks about interesting things happening to a person whose views are still too ideal and polar for this multifaceted world.
I was very happy to go to the cinema again.
'Good boy' can be described literally in three words - funny, kind, dashing. From the very first frames, after the toy airplane, the film accelerates, gains pace and does not reduce to the most final credits. Kolya Smirnov gets into one ridiculous situation after another, finding himself in a piquant situation with a beautiful English teacher, then in an underground casino with the headmaster of the school. But he keeps well, does not get into his pocket and in general, sometimes behaves much more intelligently than others - of any age.
There is such a concept 'screen chemistry' - it's when between two characters as if a spark runs. The main character is so with the whole world, only a pathetic spark is not limited: the reaction of Kohli, the reaction to Kohlia is always a real fireworks display. And you'll never guess what happens next. For example, everyone will start dancing!
I was also touched by the very kind, gentle attitude of the director to all his heroes. Even the completely confused and lying headmaster of the school, played by Mikhail Efremov, is presented as a positive character. And the hysterical Smirnov-senior, ready to experiment on his own family, and at all seems a hero.
There is a downside to this – the plot, in my opinion, turned out to be too optimistic and conciliatory. On the other hand, it is very similar to how you perceive the world as a teenager - since everything is not painted black, then everything will be covered in white.
We don’t have a lot of good comedies, and good movies about schoolchildren and for schoolchildren can be counted on the fingers. Maybe not, I don’t remember one in the last five years. And it is great that when such a picture still appeared, it can be safely called not just good, but outstanding.
'The Good Boy, by Oksana Karas, is not only curious that a commercial product has won the top prize of the Kinotavr, but also incomprehensible astonishment at what it is that awakens Russian cinema, which is usually either bad, or with indifference, or very rarely with pride. So, "Good Boy" is the third case.
Nikolai Smirnov is a ninth-grader living at the junction of time. He is honest, brave, and far from lacking in intelligence, which allows him not only to argue with his father, but also to tell people around him how to behave. However, he does it a little clumsy, imposing it on himself, due to which he is sometimes not understood.
Most likely, the success of “The Good Boy” at the Kinotavr, where he received the Grand Prix, is due to the fact that he not only pays tribute to the Soviet school of cinema, but also skillfully raises quite serious topics, while maintaining the unobtrusive narrative. And inside this simplicity are sewn and charming characters, able to easily, not without a share of humor, tell their story to the viewer, and urban locations, pleasantly shot due to the verified setting of the frame and panoramic shootings, and relevant close-up plans.
Competent casting hit about Treskunov, who was approved for this role at the age of 11 years (due to financial problems, the project was frozen), increases the share of realism, and mastodons in the face of Khabensky and Efremov, and their acting understanding of why they are here, throw acting skills, due to which the timekeeping, which is already small, but very convenient for this genre, flies like a moment.
The absence of a lubricated ending leaves a pleasant aftertaste. All the main characters were seated in their places, before giving everyone to dance (someone literally, someone in the soul). And yes, it is possible that the inclination of the ending will be knocked out of the overall narrative, but irony and appropriate humor will smooth out this effect.
It’s nice that we still know how to shoot such a light movie that can spin the viewer on positive emotions. The story of Koli Smirnov, a teenager who observes the lives of adults, gets acquainted with the world around him, is similar to the story of your friend about some district where cheerful boys and girls, scientists with innuendo, teachers who are entangled in gambling and love. All these different heroes manage not to turn the narrative into a bombastic art house, but skillfully serve it with the help of the junction of times, which can be traced in these vintage jackets and tablets, expensive foreign cars and funny rituals of Khabensky. All this is not that smooths corners, but makes the story more accessible, and the film itself some kind of personal, I would even say friendly.
"Good Boy" is a movie about us, like ' life ' bully. About those who refuse to grow up, who are afraid to take the first step when it is so necessary, who believe that lying to themselves, and those who are nearby is a blessing that is very difficult to give up. But you do. And if we talk about what Karas’ painting teaches us, it’s the awareness of the moment. I mean, there's a situation like this, and be nice to deal with it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a ninth grader or a principal. Everyone has one life, and you should spend it with those you really love.
Kolya Smirnov (the incredible Semyon Treskunov) is a charming Moscow ninth grader. Not an athlete, not a bully, not an excellent student-' nerd' and most importantly - not a fool. His father (Konstantin Khabensky in a mustache) invents a new ' health system', his best friend Spitch (Vasily Butkevich from ' Raggy Union') literally chews the grass, and his romantic interest is a beautiful English teacher Alice Denisovna (Ieva Andreevai) with curious preferences in cinema. And Kolya just brings to this world goodness and justice - as well as he can.
'The Good Boy' is an incredibly light, funny and bright comedy, which is not hindered by either a virulent sometimes scenario with a school principal, more like a middle-class oligarch (Mikhail Efremov), or an abundance of incomprehensible dances - on the contrary, dances very successfully complement the absurdist atmosphere of the picture.
First of all, because the jokes are really good. They talk as if in between, but their number is five minutes & #39; Good boy' may be equal to any hour and a half comedy. Not to mention the quality - so easy and witty in our cinema jokes are not just rare, but very rare. In terms of level, this can only be compared with the work of the Quartet And - and in the best years.
Second, because they are really great actors. Treskunov conquers instantly, with one look, one expression of his face, he in other scenes outplays already held actors. Khabensky and Efremov, of course, just have fun, but do it with apparent pleasure. And completes the conquest of the audience's sympathies Pal, who recently gave everyone a light as a helicopter Kukushkin in ' Icebreaker' Nikolai Khomeriki, but he is already a computer science teacher Stanislav Ilyich, a lover of turtlenecks and, according to rumors, a hipster. It would be wrong not to mention, for example, Andrei Karasevich in the small but very well-performed role of Dima’s older brother, who is about to surrender to the police.
There is also a completely unexpected ' third '. 'Good Boy' - a very stylish film. Here and a little cold, timeless picture with an emphasis on the suburban embankments and Soviet high-rise buildings. And the stylistics of some ' continued eighties' - remember how many Russian comedies (what is there comedy, movies in general) have their own style, which you will then easily recognize. And of course, a great soundtrack, trying to mimic Soviet, but with the same success it could sound Refn.
In general, reached wide screens 'Good Boy' is another big event of 2016, which to my great surprise really became the year of Russian cinema. I rarely say that about movies, but you won’t forgive yourself if you miss it.
Honestly, after watching the trailer, I didn’t understand anything at first, and then again I didn’t understand anything. Therefore, the film went almost in full confidence that I will have something like ' Bitter', only about the school and with Khabensky, who will certainly draw attention from the main characters, who in fact are almost still children, and talented children in our films I met, frankly, not much.
However, such films as 'The Good Boy' I, frankly, never met at all - at least on the big screen. It is still difficult to say what this story is about, but certainly not about the life of Kohli. It's more about life.
And most of all, the fact that the plot is really quite difficult to distinguish here - well, not about the burned-out computer class, this is a movie, in fact.
Rather, it’s like in real life – daily household chores and important tasks are interspersed with emotions and feelings, struggles for authority and love, attempts to understand what is happening and why everything is so difficult, and then again simple and again difficult. And in the intervals, of course, dancing - no matter what heart problems and unpleasant life discoveries may arise on the way, and periodically it is important for everyone to give up on everything and dance. Even the good boy Kole.
In general, it is absolutely impossible to distinguish clearly what the film liked specifically, since the impressions of the actors, dialogue, humor (which, by the way, is much better at a point somewhere in the middle, when the drama begins and frankly comedic scenes turn into a rather tense drama).
And in the final, which is the most remarkable, Koli’s acquaintance with the adult world ends, albeit obviously far-fetched, but still bright and promising many good days for all participants of the events. Because there’s something that Kolya’s boy learned during all these strange perturbations of adulthood: it doesn’t matter how well you understand life and how many mistakes you make, but the most important thing is that you just live.
I had neither high nor negative expectations about the new product of the Year of Russian Cinema. Before watching I ' listened' John Locke (not the one from ' Stay Alive'), and started ' record' film on ' clear board' - tabula rasa. I tried to forget all, to put it mildly, the unsuccessful Russian comedies and, to put it mildly, the disappointing reviews to them. Comedy comedy discord - that's what you should remember if you have doubts. 'Good Boy' Oksana Karas, first of all, a charming comedy.
The main character - Kolya Smirnov - without any problems causes sympathy, since this prudent ninth grader really stands out from the rest of the school brethren. He can't be classified as either cool or outsiders. There is no outstanding mind in it, but it is not possible to call the language “Unknown”. The boy is childishly naive, although his own opinion is not an empty sound for him. The film does not even tell about the victories and defeats of the student, but demonstrates a life experience that is important.
The slogan 'Grow up - understand' is not in vain adopted. Poor Kolya learns a lot in a week ' funny' which some people can take years to do. Not to say that the curiosity of the young man tried to break free. Just a good boy had the opportunity to plunge into the whirlpool of incomprehensible relationships between adults. And it is gratifying that the current vicissitudes do not use the rhythm ' harsh realism' because of which after the movie no nightingale sings inside you.
I agree that there are several improbable situations in the film, such as the suddenly awakened attraction of the beauty (Anastasia Bogatyreva) to Kola or the sudden feelings of the computer science teacher (Alexander Pal) to the English teacher (Ieva Andreevay). ' Detective' the investigation of the arson of a new annex with computers, set in motion by the best friend of the main character, after a cheerful beginning remains hanging in the air. Yes, and the headmaster of the school (Mikhail Efremov) already noticeably lives on a large foot.
Yes, only these moments and any others that you can find, 'jambs' pale under the wide charm of the director's approach and, of course, Semen Treskunov. The guy seems to have a great future, well, to justify his hopes, he has a great chance. The young actor never overplays, does not annoy, does not show off. The hero turned out to be sensitive, positive and even romantic. In each frame from him directly emanates confidence, bordering on a clear talent. I am very happy for the gift!
I think I have never seen a better explanation of the past perfect time in English. But it was still a life lesson. I don’t know if it was a wink, a hint or a nod in the direction of 'Whiplash' Damien Chazella, when Mikhail Efremov fooled around on the drums, but the shot was definitely fun. It may even seem that the final Indian dances were superfluous, but due to the bright and optimistic atmosphere of the whole film, you should not dwell on them.
7 out of 10
I don’t know how much Russian cinema can fall, apparently, a bottomless pit ... or rather a cloaca, where all these films belong. Attempts to illuminate this darkness with flames only lead to decay.
Why, how, why, what to watch, and most importantly for whom it is filmed, this is the main question. For children, since the category [+12], so it is unlikely ... Hoppy teacher seduces the 9th grader (where we are shown almost a bed scene), then, perhaps, we will be objected to, and say that the film is clearly for adults, and this is unlikely ... The number of stupid, infantile, trivial jokes overwhelm this comedy, or rather vaudeville, where the main joke is ' emptying a madman on the foot ' Blatar''...
A dozen characters, as many small stories that intertwine and create complete confusion. Again, the same questions: where, who, why, why. ..
Not a film, but a paradox: on the one hand, an imaginary attempt to create the reality of the Russian school, to reflect all its problems, falling in love, misunderstanding of parents, problems at school and so on, and on the other hand, an attempt to make it a comedy, by introducing various orchards, which can be listed indefinitely.
In the end, a dull, typical parody of American comedy ' about schoolchildren ' Here you and grass, and street dances in the style of hip-hop (where even an African-American was crammed) typical high school students who look like they stayed in school for 3 or even 4 years and everything, everything, everything that we are used to seeing in them.
The tagline reads ': "Grow up, you'll understand!"' "As soon as we grow old, we'll accept." . .
"Good Boy" - this is the Grand Prix of the Kinotavr and prizes from a couple of festivals, so you can no longer explain to anyone that this is a good movie, which must be seen when it reaches the rental.
The film clearly and unambiguously inherits the cult "Courier" (there are direct references), but, at the same time, leaves a warmer aftertaste than Shakhnazarov's movie. In general, the comparison of these two films can lead us into curious wilds: the age of the protagonist (he is clearly younger here), the environment (Ivan was fundamentally lonely, Kolya was surrounded by people on all sides), interaction with society, ways of understanding the world. In short, times have changed. And it seems to be for the better.
At least, the authors of “The Good Boy” look at those “in whose hands will fall the building we erected” more optimistically.
Among the authors, by the way, one of the best domestic screenwriters Mikhail Mestetsky. Here he does exactly what distinguishes a good story from a simulacrum - creates a real living space, from which he allocates the key fragments for the plot (massculture does the opposite - first comes up with a plot, into which he then draws attributes from reality behind his ears).
About the performer of the main role Semen Treskunov and without me a lot of good will write. I will mention the beautiful and unexpected Khabensky. And if the school directors were persuaded to play Fedor Dunaevsky from Courier, it would be quite appropriate and, I will not be afraid of this word, conceptual. However, Ephraim is quite in place.
In general, I sincerely recommend everyone to wait for the rental and get their share of pure joy. And optimism, whatever.
I was lucky to watch the first Ural open festival of Russian cinema. The target audience of the film is teenagers 15-17 years old, but adults will certainly like it, because it has everything for success.
First of all, it's directing. The film is really atmospheric. Completely immersed in the school life of Koli Smirnov, as if it is your neighbor or classmate.
Second, a great script. The plot harmoniously intertwines humor and dramatic component. Kolya is an intelligent and direct boy, whom everyone in school treats well. He, like any teenager, wants to quickly become an adult: to meet with a girl, and among adults he had friends, trying to help everyone around and establish relationships with them (by the way, he has good makings to become a parliamentarian). And despite this, the main character was in a tangle of coincidences (see the description for the film), which his own efforts dragged even tighter.
Dialogues are thought out and show the characters of the characters, their emotional and mental state. For example, as an English teacher suffers for a married man and in a conversation with Koley reveals what is on her soul.
Humor adds pun situations and heroes. For example, the parents of the protagonist: the father is a former scientist, and now he is himself a pharmacist, who decided that the whole family needs to switch to the schedule of 12 / 36 (12 hours of sleep and 36 hours of wakefulness), and the mother is an impressionable accountant who, when her son runs away from home, does not ask him to return, but shouts that he forgot to wear a hat.
Third, the cast and their play. Konstantin Khabensky and Mikhail Efremov set a high bar for other actors. Their skill complements each other’s roles, although they don’t appear on screen together, but the characters have backstory – school years. And their heroes – Kohli’s father and the director – seem to compete with each other for the attention of Nicholas.
Young star Semyon Treskunov plays the main character. You worry about him, you rejoice, just like a close person. His Kolya Smirnov is a living character, with feelings and experiences. Director Oksana Karas made a speech before the screening, where she told how the role was waiting for Semen. He liked the director as an 11-year-old boy, but needed a 16-year-old, and after 5 years while looking for funding, Semyon just approached the age.
If there are claims to the actors, it is only to Ieva Andreevai – her Alice Denisovna, seems a strange person and not quite healthy (kisses with a 9-grader and sniffs on a married man, although long ago I could find a person younger and more reliable, with such and such external data and allegedly extensive inner world). Of course, she has a rich background to the film, and the emotionally devastated teacher still managed to pass the actress. But there is nothing surprising, for which everyone fell in love with her, the viewer did not see her.
The overall impression of the film is positive. In the hall, applause was heard at particularly successful moments, the audience came out of the cinema with a good mood.
Still, Russian directors are best able to shoot comedies.
