I didn’t expect much from the film, but I was hoping for a funny summer comedy with funny adventures, stupid coincidences and other things. And Amy Schumer, I'm really cute. A relaxed, natural girl who is pleasant to watch.
But I didn't like it. At all. I'll tell you why this happened.
First the story. Saleswoman Emily is thrown by a guy with whom she intended to go on a romantic trip to Ecuador. Latin American countries are a kind of lottery for Americans. You can relax perfectly and inexpensively, and you can get into the clutches of bandits, kidnappers and other unpleasant personalities. In any case, this is the view that develops in numerous films.
But Emily is a fearless girl. She takes her mother Linda (despite her desperate resistance) and sets out to conquer the wild beaches of Ecuador. In place, the ladies immediately get into a bind. They are kidnapped by a gang of Colombians, but by chance the beauties manage to escape.
The whole film is an attempt by Emily and her mother to escape from the criminals. During their adventures, they will find new friends, get a bunch of problems and sores and will be able to get to know each other better.
The story, as you can see, is not new, but quite funny. The incarnation is not good. It's not funny, Amy Schumer, despite all her creativity, is starting to annoy the finale. And there is nothing new in her game to see, in all her films she is absolutely the same.
Situations in which the heroines get stupid, incomprehensible and not at all fascinating. Overall, it’s a one-time comedy. And that's not very interesting.
There are films that are not worth watching, especially to shoot and write a script for them.
Screenwriter Katie Diploid is not the first time traumatizes the eyes of a poor and unprepared viewer with his wild ideas. Be prepared to see a local Colombian herbalist pull a meter tapeworm through Amy Schumer's throat in front of Goldie Hawn. I'm not a Schumer fan, but she's a "no-complex girl" and that's a fact. As always, bold and self-ironic. As far as Goldie is concerned, she will always be "overboard" for me. Why did she agree to a spoonful of tar? I have no idea.
The start of the film was not bad. Remaining optimistic at the beginning of the black streak of her life, Emily Middleton (Amy Schumer) flew to Ecuador with her mother Linda (Goldie Hawn). You know, Mom, the tickets are NOT-GATE-NO-THE. Here Diploid bounced... And that's a fact. If you do not stop now, then it will be irrevocable. Better watch another movie.
The comedy came out frankly stupid, but cute. Many jokes failed. I don’t want to watch two American women kidnapped and laugh at the way they kill a sex trafficker’s family with their clumsiness. I understand that this is a film in the series “nothing is more important than family”, but damn, it’s not such a thrash to watch to understand it.
I don’t recommend it for viewing.
PS: Haldy, what the hell? ... and remembering your smile, I know I forgive. Everyone's wrong.
Katie Dippold, the writer of the vile Ghostbusters, must have had the following thoughts in his head: So mother and daughter are going on vacation in Ecuador... they are being kidnapped and they need to escape from bandits... and there will be a lot of immature humor... and what do I call this creation? I think a derivative of the slang name of the female genital organ will do.
Sounds awful. Theoretically, "Snatched," oh, sorry, "Her Daughter and Mother," should at least seem like a digestible spectacle. It's a friendly comedy, but instead of friends, close relatives. The most classic of the American stories is the story of a trip with adventures to the fifth point. The main roles are very funny actresses. Magnificent landscapes, the ridicule of feminism, the return to the cinema Goldie Hawn - almost ready recipe for dizzying comedy. This is not fun at all.
It starts off pretty harmlessly. Emily, indeed, is a typical comedic character: cheerful, all-consuming, ignorant and swaggering. After breaking up with her boyfriend, Emily convinces her overly closed mother Linda to go on a trip to Ecuador. They travel to Latin America and then kidnap Emily and Linda. The daughter and mother run away and ... the plot loops.
That’s all there is to say about the scripted side of the film. Women run away, they get caught, they run away again. This very frantic and confusing journey takes them to Colombia, then to the jungle. Heroines meet with an aggregation of characters who do nothing to move the plot. Of course, the details don’t matter much here, and not because it’s not a particularly smart movie. The fact is that the journey of the main characters has no psychological “destination”. Do you think that in the end, both mother and daughter will find inner strength, overcome complexes and build strong family relationships? And the natives who meet women along the way will help them in self-knowledge? Alas, no. In other words, for the characters of the film, the events themselves made little sense; and it was done, as it seemed to me, not intentionally, but because of the laziness of the film crew.
The humor is also very low-grade. Jokes here are built on the demonstration of pucans and female breasts, women’s hygiene and casual Latin American xenophobia are played out, and, finally, the language barrier. Apotheosis is the scene in which Emily caught a tapeworm.
Aside from the silly script, it appears that "Her Daughter and Mother" suffered from poor editing. The scenes appear to have been edited without regard to the continuity of the story.
However, there is a small part of the film that actually looks quite funny. It featured Christopher Meloni in a secondary role. It's kind of a little movie in a movie: it has little to do with the rest of the movie, but it's full of interesting moments. But once Meloni misses their frame, everything returns to mediocrity.
As for the other actors, everything is very controversial. Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn are somewhat believable as a mother and daughter, and in some more or less calm scenes they look very good in the frame together. This is especially evident in the opening scenes. As things get crazier, they just lose their chemistry. The pair do not merge into a comedy duo, and by the time they sweat out in the jungle from bandits, Schumer and Hawn finally lose their charm. Joan Cusack also noted, but she is not enough. The rest of the actors are not really remembered.
"Her Mother and Daughter" is a rough comedy that she wants to touch. Yes, the film can cause an emotional resonance, but certainly not because of the demonstration of how strong the two main characters are in comedy, but rather because of the raucous delirium taking place in the picture. I laughed as many times as I moaned.

I was curious about this comedy. The trailer seemed funny to me, and Goldie Hawn’s return to the big movie years later did its job, too. I was eager to watch this movie, but I was disappointed.
In fact, Jonathan Levine is a loser director, and he never had a movie that I liked. This is his worst and most failed project. The picture is so empty and stupid that it is simply discouraged by its stupidity. The worst thing about it is that it is implausible, and the feeling of falsehood does not let go when watching. You do not believe in what is happening and think: what nonsense.
We see the story of a fat heroine who was fired from her job, abandoned by a guy. She asks her mother to fly with her to Ecuador, and she barely agrees. Once on vacation, mother and daughter get into a criminal adventure full of dangers. These trials will strengthen the bond between them, and the main character will rethink a lot.
I want to say that watching such American comedies, you can very easily degrade. This comedy film is terribly slick and stupid. Funny scenes do not look funny, but just stupid. All the humor is literally sucked out of the finger, which can be said about the whole story. Most of the jokes are vulgar, and humor is built on that theme, but it was really not funny. Comedy looks without a smile and even somehow unpleasant, as if they show pigs, nothing good, and most importantly there is something ironic here.
Mother and daughter played a duet Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer. If Hawn makes a huge publicity for the film, and many of her fans were curious to see the actress return to the big movie, then Amy Schumer was a huge disappointment. She was so overplaying and acting badly that I would gladly give her the Golden Raspberry as the worst actress. Her acting was at the level of kindergarten.
As for Goldie Hawn, she looks decent for her age and it was interesting to see her. There was a kind of nostalgia, and I remembered how she was in her youth. By the way, many times I noticed how Hawn plays, how he behaves on the screen, facial expressions, gestures, I think Jennifer Aniston took something from her in the manner of playing. I’ve seen it many times and thought about it.
If you want to see something light and funny and think this movie is like that, you’re wrong. The film is horribly questionable and about nothing. She wants to forget and no longer remember this murky nonsense.
"Daughter and her mother" is an American, adventure comedy with elements of the action movie of 2017. The film is a complete disappointment and I say no to it. The picture is not worthy of attention.
Amy Schumer at one time grew up quite well thanks to the career of a stand-up comedian. Received various prizes of audience sympathy, other awards and critical acclaim, including for scripting skills. And who would have thought that the result of all this could be a disgusting film career.
The plot of Amy’s new project, in which she invested her strength and ambitions as a producer along with the famous slop supplier and self-proclaimed feminist Paul Fig, introduces us to the main character performed by the same Schumer. Emily has a bad streak in life: her boyfriend dumps her, she gets fired from her job and all this before her planned vacation in Ecuador. But Amy is not discouraged and decides to go on a trip anyway. But who? All her imaginary friends refuse to go with her. As a result, she persuades her mother to go in the performance of the magnificent Goldie Hawn, with whom the heroine has a cool, to put it mildly. Upon arrival in South America, women are kidnapped almost immediately. Now they have to rely on each other to save themselves.
And since it's a comedy, I'll try to appreciate the power of Amy Schumer's sister's writing. In our tolerant age, as you know, there is an active struggle for civil rights and equality of women with men. Women are often seen where you least expect it. And that's no problem, honestly. But to call the humor of this film a derivative of feminism is like calling Paul Fig a genius of cinema. Before and until now there were jokes about a member and only a person who is not familiar with common sense would decide to call them ridiculous. Now, Schumer-level characters think it's time for vagina jokes, and it should make them laugh more. I quote:
- It's not what you think. I was just washing my vagina because it smells like alcohol.
You have to dig deep into the early Paleolithic to see that even there it won't be funny. Clumsy near-sex jokes and dialogues on this topic, rolled out of the evening dress of the tit and random murder of people should cause the viewer colic, but as can be seen from the reaction of the world community and fees – something is not funny.
Characters: the heroine of Amy Schumer is exactly as disgusting as the performer of this role. Obviously, the project was written for her. Emily is self-centered, lazy and downright stupid. In modern slang, there is a definition for it - TP. Throughout the film, she thinks only about entertainment, ignoring obvious warning signs, taking selfies and worrying about crotch hygiene for a night with a stranger. Perhaps this character is designed to ridicule certain categories of people, but they are in life funnier than their movie version. Which is ironic for a stand-up comedian-woman. Goldie Hawn: How such a great actress after 15 years agreed not only to play a role, but also in THIS film parody remains a bigger mystery to me than the Bermuda Triangle or craters on Mars. And the character of the anxious mother played on a strong five, although there is nothing to play there. The rest of the template, cardboard character sketches are not even worth mentioning. The vacuum will be more colorful.
As a result, we have a fun summer comedy with nauseating characters, disgusting humor and a shameful script.
+: Goldie Hawn. I really don't know how she'll look into Kurt's eyes after that.
-: The whole movie. Seriously, it's the worst thing I've ever seen in 15 years.
