When expectations are more than justified I came across the tape by accident, being in search of a movie to pass the evening. Initial filters: I wanted a light European comedy and fresher (17-18 years). At the same time, Denis Boone’s latest paintings have already been viewed, as well as a couple of German comedy novelties. Mind enough not to stumble on a completely crazy opus from Luc Besson - 'Taxi 5'. The maestro of French cinema in recent years completely loses its former grip... well, let’s not talk about the sad.
The poster, trailer and brief description of the excitement did not cause, I had to go to 'risk'. Fortunately, the director of the film - Romaine Levy not only managed to participate in the script of such comedies as ' Courier (2009)', ' Oil to the Fire (2011)', ' And suddenly I miss everyone (2011)' but also ' Inherit' film ' Radio Stars (2012)' which, incidentally, is Levi's first directorial work.
' Gangsterdam' is similar to the movie ' Courier': the same type of insecure and shy protagonist experiencing difficulties with his beloved woman and / because of which falls into the sphere of interests of crime / special services, confusing all the cards and diving headlong into the series of action-packed events, after which he becomes ' a very adult boy' and turns into 'a real man'' Also in both films was not without an incredibly cool and charismatic black adventurer in a black cape. Also, the s have a funny friend / friends and just as suddenly the father of the main character comes to the rescue of the whole company, between whom the almost Turgenev conflict of relationships is brewing & #39; Fathers-and-Children' And also both films are filled with youth gags, vulgar jokes, exciting action and pleasing to the eye good work of the cameraman and costume designer. And just as female characters need a script to tie, and the second half of the film they are present almost as furniture until the end of the set at the beginning of the love line. To be fair, it is worth noting that this drawback does not spoil both pictures at all - everything is devoted only to the transition of the protagonist from the Boy to the Hussars & #39;.
But 'Gangsterdam' better 'Courier' because:
1) jokes are funnier, and where it is necessary vulgar, but exactly in moderation, without splashing over the edges
2) picture better
3) the plot develops more rapidly, delighting with very original, unexpected and non-standard scenario turns and exits of the characters from deadlock situations.
4) more youth gags.
(5) And the most delicious cherry of the movie is the soundtrack! Finally, there was a French film at the end of the second decade, which can also please the wonderful Saud, as in its time the series 'Taxi enjoyed. .' and '13th District'.
Amsterdam is filmed and shown perfectly (even better than in the German comedy of this genre & #39; Facap, or Worse never happens & #39); The main character of the picture is not without difficulty and with the help of friends / lover copes with all the difficulties. Watching the spiritual transformation of the character was very pleasant and not boring, Kev Adams played convincingly. I especially want to praise Coma Levin - 50% of all the humor of the picture fell to the share of his hero - a friend of the protagonist. Antagonists are charming, moderately insidious, with well-written characters. Plus, in the film, the viewer expects an unexpected and pleasant surprise - a small but colorful role played by Rutger Hauer. Behind the brackets, it is worth leaving only female characters - there are very few of them and against the background of a very strong male cohort, they look slightly weaker, and this is perhaps the only minus of this film and the ball is already in favor of 'Courier' where it is not so much striking.
Total - a great French action comedy for viewing in the company and not only.
8 out of 10
+1 for the soundtrack.
