Lawlessness on the island-prison staged media moguls to earn money on laborers. Take a look and see if any greedy company is making money from you. As unsatisfactory as the main character, then bar you against the wall, as the main character of this action movie.
Accidentally came across this film watching the filmography Jason Statham, the movie stands out from the rest of his work.
I really liked the movie, both for the story and for all those deadly races. Paul W. S. Anderson's handwriting is visible pretty quickly, probably from the beginning, when we are introduced to the world of this film. I think that the directing was successful, shot quite modern and the visual is very good. Despite the fact that the film was shot in 2008, it is not much inferior to modern films in terms of visual component.
I liked Jensen Ames’ story from the beginning. From his work to his relationship with his wife to prison. The moments of his dismissal with further consequences are very realistically shown.
I really liked Yannaya Stephens, who played the wife of the main character, she does not have much game time, but she is remembered, remembered by the fact that she appreciates in her husband, that he is near and she has great feelings for him, not his wallet, a rarity in our time.
Even though the main theme in the film is death racing, there were fights in prison and I liked them. I love the prison theme in Hollywood, it’s not so much, but it’s also memorable. The encounter between Ames and Pachenko was not bad.
As for the identity of Frankenstein, it is a pity that he was shown so little before Ames was in prison. The personality is quite interesting.
Jason Statham, it is a pity that Vladimir Zaitsev did not duplicate him, so it would be even more brutal. He was very good, as always. I liked the rivalry with Tyrese Gibson, and of course the races and joint shots with Natalie Martinez fell to my taste.
Joan Allen, I remember her from the movie John Woo "Without Face", here she is completely different. The real devil in the flesh. At first, it was thought how this woman could be the head of the prison, but it turns out that as much as possible, the role was definitely successful, you hate her from the first shots.
Tyrese Gibson, I am so used to his novel in the Fast and Furious that it is difficult to perceive him without jokes constant and smiles. Machine-gun Joe is completely different, he is obsessed with rivalry with Frankenstein, and does not want to give in. It was really cool.
Natalie Martínez, a very spectacular girl. Her appearance in the middle of the movie, which was pretty cool at the end, she has her own motivation. I definitely made the movie.
Jason Clark played an ordinary errand dog who protects the system, with his role he coped.
Death race is a good action movie with prison races, which leaves a pleasant impression. It is quite attractive and helps to have a good evening.
For some reason, I have a weakness for movies based on games, and for some reason the director who is best at such films is the charming husband of Milla Jovovich. Who does not know his textbook “Deathly Battle” and the endless “Resident Evil”. And here, therefore, another delusional-dynamic and delusional-bright tape, again "deathly", this time - a race.
Crazy pilots in crazy paramilitary cars accompanied by crazy sexy navigators. In a crazy, hopeless prison run by a crazy, cold-blooded jailer. Under the saws of the electric guitar, the rumble of fire and the roar of engines, which is interrupted only by the cheerful voice of the “sports commentator”: “Some pilots are still alive!” Subscribe to our show for just $99!
The density of insanity per square centimeter of film is so high that from the first to the last minute you feel the HONKU - at the limit of all possibilities, as only it can be, when Life and Freedom are at stake.
If we talk about the series as a whole, then the clearest logic of action and characters is in the first part, but in terms of drive, all three are equally good. I would love to see the fourth one, if there is one.
In the midst of the financial crisis in the States, Mr. Milla Jovovich and his team decide to hypane and make a movie about the consequences of the economic turmoil in the not-too-distant and then-future 2012. In the yard of the Great Depression 2.0, rampant crime and in overcrowded prisons combine the pleasant with the useful, forcing convicts to wind circles on armored vehicles with machine guns at the sight of video cameras. Paid subscription to the live show enriches the organizers of the race, and the drivers themselves have a ghostly chance to recline. If they don't.
Paul Thomas Anderson's doppelganger, to be honest, always made a lousy movie. Even the iconic “Deathly Battle” won’t stand up to criticism if you watch it for the first time as a non-teenager in a video salon. A sense of proportion, style and beauty. Paul W.S. Anderson doesn't have them. He likes action, fiction, film adaptations of video games and a little - Musketeers and Pompeii. It is dynamic and spectacular, but neither mind nor heart. King of All Salieri from Hollywood Directing.
"Death Race", although formally a remake of the Corman beshka 1975, in fact - a film dash computer game. The plot is spelled out for a tick and generally ripped off from "The Shawshank Escape." All the most interesting here - during the races, held on the tracks, equipped with purely game bunnies. The 1989 video game Deathtrack will be remembered by those who know it. Adrenaline “gameplay” with intermediate scenes, where the characters fill in pauses, squeezing out the dialogue and moving the conditional plot to the final. You want to skip these scenes by pressing Esc. Let's get to the next track at a higher level of difficulty!
Well, what about the already twice mentioned in vain incorruptible Darabont? P.W.S.A., when he wrote the script, was inspired by Escape, and it’s provable and on the fingers. The main character (played by Statham) is a man unjustly accused of murdering his wife, who, possessing certain talents, uses every opportunity to leave the prison walls. He is confronted by a warden and a senior security guard (perfect casting: Allen and Clark's faces are made for similar roles). There are bad convicts who pester a man. There are good convicts with whom the man is friends (three claim the role of Freeman from the original here: the unusually kind McShane, the supercharger Gibson and the woman Martinez). Mexican happy ending after all. The difference between films in genre affiliation and in a couple of hundred details, but the plot frame is similar. Which, however, does not make the "Death Race" movie at least two views.
Anderson’s opus is a spectacular collection of stamps and tastelessness. Of those on which the brain is better to take a nap, and then it will be able to like and than Uwe Ball is not kidding, to love. And fans of the acting of Jason Statham have not yet been canceled.
Jason Statham once again proves to us that he is the best in his field. And this movie is no exception. The Death Race is not a race for prizes - it's a survival race that takes place in 3 stages at Terminus Island Prison. You win and you're free, everyone thinks so, but that's not the case. It is impossible to win and our hero knows it.
Go in order.
The film takes place in the United States in 2012. The country plunged into chaos. Unemployment has risen to high levels, as has crime. The Death Race, which takes place in prison, is the most popular in the United States and ratings have increased to the limit.
And so our hero goes to prison for what he did not do and he has to participate in the race to survive and then break free.
About the atmosphere, a very dynamic film with shots, explosions and fights. Special effects are suitable for the theme of this film.
The cast is excellent. Machine Gunner Joe performed by Tyrese Gibson just this role for him.
A few words about the director of this film Paul Anderson.
He knows and can make films, whether it is an action movie or horror, he is always on top.
Whether it’s a horror movie or a drama, it’s always been great!
The film is very interesting, dynamic and keeps in suspense all 2 hours. And no matter how much it was removed, it was shot qualitatively and I did not find any disadvantages here. All at the highest level! I also want to point out that stuntmen were involved in this film, because stunts are very dangerous and should only be performed by professionals.
A masterpiece on the basis of bearded talentlessness
I hope few people remember the disgusting movie Death Race of 2000 with Sylvester Stallone, made in 1975 and walked through video salons in the old days. This craft to this day is considered a cult among a certain circle of people who so liked to look at the senseless bloody attraction, whose heroes deliberately knock down pedestrians to get points for the race. Out of this negligence, a new master of fantastic and not only blockbusters, known primarily for the zombie saga that thundered around the world, decided to make a worthwhile movie. Paul W. S. Andersen knows his job, he continues to surprise with various films for the general audience: this is a free film adaptation of a classic novel, and a historical blockbuster, and sequels of the same legendary zombie franchise. One of his most famous films was a remake of the infamy of 1975, which made "out of shit a candy" and showed the "perfect fantastic thriller" for true connoisseurs of the genre.
In addition to the participation of the talented actor Jason Statham, who knows how to portray the defenders of justice in almost every action movie, Death Race pleases with a brilliant idea and an exciting plot, and, of course, with the most expensive special effects. Brutal, but not immoral spectacle strikes the viewer's attention and makes you worry about the outcome of the actions of the main character, whose life in prison, where he was the result of a cruel setup, resembles the plot of "Escape from Shawshank", which, although not shone with action, but, like "Death Race", pleased with high-quality dialogue and a competent plot. Here, as in the disgusting original of 1975, there are survival races, only this time they take place in prison, and the goal of the riders is not to knock down the disabled and pensioners to death, but to fight each other with the most perfect weapons that are equipped with their sophisticated cars, the purpose of which is to get freedom, and this is especially important for the protagonist who was unjustly convicted and got into this place where there is no good. The plot of the film and active scenes - pure adrenaline, the perfect entertainment for hot guys who love action movies with a fire. Of course, the film is not for those for whom notions of freedom and honor are pathetic labuda - such as watching Death Race 2000 and learning to shoot down passers-by. Elements of fiction and action here at the top, and what else could you expect from the master of entertainment cinema? Great movie for lovers of real art.
Death Race. It's totally the coolest action movie. One of the things we loved as children. Only he's relatively young. I mean, from the modern era. When the movie has completely deteriorated, those favorite films have sunk into oblivion, but in 2008, the year directed by Paul W. S. Anderson (who doesn't know - the creator of "Mortal" and "Resident") filmed this stunning dynamic film.
Yes, Death Race is a picture that never stops for a second. Dynamics is the credo of this tape. And the film keeps its reputation. By the way, I immediately noted that this is a tremendous attention to detail.
That's the plot. It shows the near future of 2008. Namely, it has been a long time since 2012. Yes, it is. The main character performed by Jason Statham gets into the prison "Terminal". And very soon we find out that it is not for nothing. He looks like a racer, which provided ratings on TV. And the show was "Death Race", held in three stages.
The story will tell you about itself and make it better than me. And I marveled at the quality of the tricks and the beauty of the special effects.
In fact, as is the case Unstoppable" does not count", the film is a benefit of Statham. Stunning muzzle in jail. Brilliant and stunning races on hellish cars, which are equipped with minigans, flamethrowers, machine guns.
But! The film is like a film adaptation of the game. Especially when the options of combat vehicles are activated, when the wheelbarrows hit the hatches (or buttons). Like in computer games, cars run into first aid kits and other auxiliary things.
So the movie is very, very good. This is not an absolute ideal (I caught myself thinking that I look with pleasure, but without goosebumps). But it should be seen. Definitely! I'm not going to get into the second part. But this very part - I'll even review sometime. I recommend the same to you.
How in our time to shoot a great action movie, but so that it does not look secondary, was tense, epic and impressive picture? Yes, to create something really cool and impressive, something that we have not seen in this genre is difficult now. But Paul Anderson, who is not really the worst director, succeeded. We managed to create an original springboard for the action, an interesting plot, cool races and tricks, flavoring all this with charismatic characters and a beautiful atmosphere.
The seemingly simple, but intriguing and rather intricate plot with a competent script perfectly fit into the magnificent aesthetic part of the industrial-post-apocalyptic setting with a noticeable shade of steampunk. Cruelty and uncompromising paired with a frantic pace of action added sharpness and drive. Well, this iron cake was decorated with the most excellent in my opinion, a harsh and heavy atmosphere, one that should always accompany films on such topics. The main character came out the way it should: brutal, tough, but at the same time human. The secondary Persians were not far behind either. Especially distinguished was Hannasey - a harsh and cunning prison governor, trying to somehow outplay her opponent in the person of Ames. Their intense dialogue was very amusing.
The music for the film was well selected. In my opinion, the soundtrack perfectly emphasizes everything that happens on the screen and complements the iron atmosphere. Well, good black humor managed to dilute the overall tension and slightly overstated seriousness of the picture.
The film is also just perfect: dynamic scenes chase, stunts, explosions – all just at the highest level. At the same time, the picture is not atmospheric. These muted tones in the grayish range, overcast weather, steampunk designs of all equipment, navigating the memory of Mad Max. All this is at the highest level and shot in a special directorial manner, like many other works of Anderson, always in something inventive and peculiar.
Resume: this film is just a nugget in the genre of “fighter”, which breathes into this genre a new energy, a new special spirit. I really want such militants to be filmed more and more in the future.

Mechanical racer James Ames is jailed for a setup and will have to fight for his life and freedom in a very unusual race.
Paul Anderson has established himself as a rather ambitious director in terms of drive action, whose film budgets reached record bars, and in 2008, together with Roger Corman, releases a remake of his film “Death Race 2000”, thereby giving rise to a new franchise.
The idea of the film is very original, and has previously shone in a number of video games, and thank Anderson for correctly bringing it to the screen, conveying all the dynamism and drive that audiences crave. The plot of the film has no special plot twists, and goes in a straight and predictable line in the best traditions of Hollywood, and only gunfights, frantic riding, an atmosphere of madness and black humor take the film to a new level, compensating all the minuses of the picture and gives the viewer to relax for the movie, but the ending is very much killed by raw predictability, and everyone who saw the film knows that the most important (!) cause of all these bloody races and reasons simply did not affect us, and upset the authors.
As expected, the special effects are at a very strong level, and it is very interesting to watch all the murderous madness, races on steel Rippers and shootouts, and the tones of the film still create an unforgettable atmosphere for all this action.
Charismatic and brutal Jason Statham for the whole filmography proved that his role paints any action, but in addition, the actor liked his realism, and in the role of a loving father, our hero was simply shocked! I also liked Joan Allen in the role of a boy-baba, which in some places burned off with its originality, and well picked up the actors of the episode, especially noticed Ian McShane, Jason Clark and Robert LaSardo.
As expected, the music is selected in the best adrenaline styles, and the camera work, performed in gloomy colors, perfectly harmonizes with the accompaniment, which creates a sullen atmosphere of a detached hell filled with extreme madness.
Outcome: One of the most driven, entertaining, dynamic and really interesting action in recent years, which has an original idea, a spectacular implementation and an excellent cast.
The film is worthy of viewing in the entertainment framework, and the viewer clearly will not regret the time spent on this killer tape.
8.5 out of 10
The film was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. A man who composes fairy tales on video games, and on these tales removes thrash. One of these creations, like most of the director's works, was booed by critics, but was able to grow a fat cult. In 2008, the outstanding Hollywood treshmaker, unexpectedly removed the attraction, whose cinematic dignity allowed to avoid the unflattering label of “trash”.
Perhaps the more privileged "Universal", has more stringent requirements that forced Anderson, in addition to gamers, to shoot for fans of brutal action movie. Anderson should be respected for his respect for R-K and his ability to nurture it. Because the blood of the characters will be extracted with hefty gas keys, wheel spikes, and even car mirrors, and the production is very fat. As for the plot, there is no need to worry: America is again suddenly bankrupt, chaos and anarchy have become a political system, the law of nature has regained its former strength. Money is now made in prison competitions in which the stars stake their lives for the chance of freedom. Brutally made-up supercar, will either become a coffin, or take to the wild. It is clear that the first version in this film has more privileges. No graphics can replace physics. It crushes, tears and lifts tank-like vehicles into the air with an unrivaled ratio of entertainment per million dollars budget. And Jason Stetham, as befits the hero of an action movie, does not let snot, but commits revenge.
The flesh of the riders and their cars is used up. And the soul throws are left behind. The spectacle today is offered by many, but the brutal spectacle with blood, intestines without pseudo-drama and thrash tendencies is now in short supply.
"The Deadly Battle," 1995. Resident Evil, 2002, Death Race, 2008. All three films, which have long since become a cult and fetish, are united by the figure of director Paul W. S. Anderson, who is one of the few who knows how to masterfully and partially kitschy turn the reality of the game into a cinematic reality. However, “Death Race” is rather unofficially an adaptation of the long-standing game Carmageddon of the late 80s of the last century, intersecting to a greater extent with the 1975 action movie “Death Race 2000” by Paul Bartel with Sylvester Stallone in the title role. But, if the original Bartel can be attributed to the category of exploitative cinema, the remake from Paul Anderson is characterized by more dystopian, presenting the viewer with another version of a cruel future in which for the fun of a hungry for bread and spectacles to the public, unchanged since the days of Roman gladiators, there is a survival game with the participation of social outcasts. The plot design of the tape confidently keeps on the balance between the exploitation of violence and dystopian philosophy, without sagging at any moment of this exciting and stylish picture.
Heroes
In the 21st century, there are not so many real action heroes with strong charisma and integrity. The end of a long period of heroic fishlessness can only be considered the appearance of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, who at the beginning of the zero finally went beyond the roles of the second plan. Statham is certainly associated for most viewers with the carrier Frank from the Bessonian franchise of the same name. This image has forever adhered to the actor, and therefore in the subsequent films of Jason there is only the exploitation of this image. Death Race was no exception, although Jensen Ames has a much more dramatic intensity, greater brutality and a desire for freedom. Mask of Frankenstein on the face of Ames personifies and restless and torn by moral and ethical contradictions nature.
Convincing in her acting incarnation Joan Allen, the role of Hennessy continued his gallery of bitchy and tough women. Also his bright and rich play of the film graced Ian McShane, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Clark and extremely sexy Natalie Martinez.
Machines
The machine as the personification of the character - such an artistic concept quite convincingly lies on the reality shown in the film. Monstous, spectacular, “stuffed” with weapons, the cars in the film are individual, like all the characters cornered in a virtuoso murderous race for survival. From these cars blows power, primitive unbridledness and atavistic sexuality. Tell me what your car is and I will tell you who you are.
So, “Death Race” is a spectacular, tough, brutal, dystopian fantasy action movie, almost old school and almost a drama about the struggle for freedom. All moviegoers are recommended to watch without fail!
There are a lot of movies with Jason Statham, and so you stop noticing the differences in them. However, there are very few films about racing, so the film "Death Race" stands out from the list of the actor's filmography.
First of all, I want to note that this film is somewhat different from the picture of 1975. Yes, in the film we are talking about all the same races, but the action itself and the plot develop extremely unusually. Therefore, it is not necessary to think that this film is a direct remake of the film with David Carredin. This is a kind of version of the race to the death.
The second point, which is undoubtedly pleasing - all the action takes place on an isolated island, on which the prison is located, and several abandoned enterprises. Agree that this is not a standard approach to the choice of locations and their fit for the race track, which means that it is fresh and interesting.
Racing itself and their interpretation for a meat show looks very cheerful, cruel and even somewhat inventive. The stylistics of the machines and the whole action resembles a convenient mix from Mad Max and the computer game Fallout, which gives the film a certain brutality and originality.
Jason Statham in this film as a nice decoration. It is clear that the film came out when the actor began to gain momentum in his popularity, but from the rest of his roles he is almost no different. Joan Allen and Tyrese Gibson pleased much more with their versatility. And other actors too, for example, it was nice to see Robert LaSardo and Robin Shaw, which has not been seen on screens for a long time.
Paul W. S. Anderson can make a good movie. And I think the biggest plus of the movie is him. Of course, before his approach to films was extremely serious, not what it is now.
Of course I liked the movie. He's violent, fast and interesting. Not spoiled by age restrictions in the form of PG-13, has its own style, which can only compete with computer games.
9 out of 10
Combine interesting things, of course, it is very valuable, for example, take the same race, hit with drive, adrenaline, and glue a machine gun, fire, blood and again adrenaline. This combination, interesting to the viewer - "Fast and Furious" to turn into a bloody massacre with shooting and coups of fire machines. That’s how Paul W. S. Anderson achieved success, shooting a fantastic action movie characterized by at least three words: action, racing, prison, but there is another important word that can somehow describe the main character of the picture, the word sounds like this – Jason Statham. Explain what the hero turned out is no longer worth it, because if you are familiar with the word “Statem”, then it is not so important to describe the character, just include any of his films and you will see his exact copy. Well, "Death Race" is the same Chev Chelios, this is the professional driver from the "Carrier", because he knows how to drive a car in the "Race" better than anyone else, but he is very angry, destroying criminal scum right on the tracks, but as always there is a nail in the coffin of the brain of the main character - he is absolutely not guilty, but now he is in some prison, where he has to ride cars, suffering the rumble of machine guns, a batch of explosions, a lot of fights - for what? Statham, like Chuck Norris of our time, will have to take serious measures, preparing his fists for battle, starting a car with guns and with Natalie Matinez sitting next to our hero. Jason himself is a fighting machine with his “guns” in his head, so it remains to add the main villains who killed the beloved wife of the main character, and then Jensen Ames will arrange revenge, which, as everyone knows, will be terrible.
Well, all the products are assembled, it remains to throw all this into the oven, so that oh how hot it was, but throw what you need, because the explosions, the dismemberment of the sea there, sometimes seems to be very baked, but it still will not spoil the dish, but only set the situation on fire. There are insidious villains, there is a harsh Statham, but as a woman on the ship is customary - unfortunately, and there is a car, it is unknown whether transport is important, but when she gets into the car it seems that it is not good for all this, and therefore there is a woman, but the location of the film becomes a strict prison, and to show all this unusual world - it was possible, and there is a successful location in the film, only "Escape from Shawshank" everyone does not want to escape from there, but they want to do laziness to do the guys, but it is better to leave the prison sitting behind the car, but this back, but the girl will have to take a very risk at this stage, she is already seeing her parents.
Well, looking and combining everything that Anderson scattered in heaps, I want to convince myself that this is just a simple action movie, diluted with an original technique for militants and a combination of genres of drive, “wheel” cinema with Stathamovsky, a tough action movie. Again, we are shown that the future is terribly bad, and people there are not good people, but lovers of bloody mess on TV, and the prisons themselves have become tougher, but the main thing is that Statham was cool, the same and remained in the future, it would be interesting to know if he remained the same superman in ancient times.
Adrenaline This time, Paul Anderson took up not only the racing adaptation, but also for his own handwritten census of the script “Death Race 2003” by his namesake Paul Bartel. The task was not easy, and therefore making adjustments to the remake required the maximum revision of the source material and a strong desire to create something completely new, but at the same time similar. Literally everything has been updated. If the film of the 75th year was just a lawlessness about the competition “who will pass more pedestrians”, then the film by Paul Anderson appeared quite a clear plot, quite logical actions and a very fascinating story. The truth with all this most attention deserves directly the epilogue of the film, summing up everything and with philosophical thought in conclusion. Attempts to put meaning into such an entertaining movie are usually in vain, and if someone managed to bring out a certain idea, this is already a big plus of perception. In general, a solid drive in the style of a gladiatorial game for survival, where even if there are rules, they are violated by their own compilers. A world without honor and justice, a dirty and crazy near future is not a novelty, and here the director does not open new horizons, but in a new way plays in The Running Man in similar films. The decision to recruit actors of category B at first glance is far from perfect, since with such a composition you will not go very far. Always the same Statham, bright but little-known Ian McShane da Joan Allen, the main character of the “Deathly Battle” of the same Anderson actor Robin “Lu Kang” Shu, so nowhere else and not lit up so brightly. But in the end, it is clearly shown that Anderson did not lose out with such guys. But in the original film was Sylvester Stallone, was himself David "Bill" Carradine. Here everything is much easier, but still not so bad. And let Statham once again play the carrier, but who needs him, when the bright and colorful Taiser Gibson completely eclipses all the characters of the film! A colorful figure whose image development is pleasant to observe during the film. And the plot triangle between the main character, the murderer of his wife and the main rival on the track turned out to be quite interesting and intriguing. As a result, the so-called “reckless moves” had only a positive impact on the film, unexpectedly perfectly serving every feature and element of the script. But the visual component was unpredictably weak. If the R-rated movie is so littered with murder, the camera in most cases shakes, preventing you from seeing a particular episode in all its glory, and all the charms of the R-rated movie are absent at all, then watching the entire drive and action of the film becomes quite boring. Of course, Anderson showed some of his favorite visual techniques with decelerations, a smooth change of angle and camera twists, but a good production requires a highlight, and Anderson completely forgot about it. Despite the fact that the story is interesting and thought out, a lot of explosions and shootouts, and the cast perfectly copes with the task set on the set, perfectly cutting into memory, as a result, no invention of the wheel failed. With a rather primitive set in the spirit of “The Punisher” and “Max Payne”, and a rather predictable finale, no mastery of visual presentation is observed even close. Terribly served the ending with the escape, completely indistinct was the participation of Dreadnought, no disclosure of the participants of the race except the main trio and Natalie Martinez as navigator. With no surprises or interesting twists, the film lost a lot. The linear development of an interesting plot, too, should impress few. But the fact is that these things for such a genre are completely insignificant. If you need a cool racing action movie - then this phrase the film justifies in full. Driving, adrenaline and racing to survive – isn’t that what the title of the movie is all about? Are these not the associations it produces when reading or looking at a poster or cover? Anderson justified this expectation, leaving a great positive impression to all fans of entertainment action. Yes, it could have been better, it could have been much better, and yet a very decent remake, very good in itself, and a valuable acquisition in the home collection. A great film by a good director. 8 IZ 10 Original
Twenty years ago, in the eighties, when asked what an action movie is, a fan of this genre would have answered without hesitation that many explosions, chases, shootings, muzzles, cool half-dressed girls, and a tough guy fighting on the side of good. Moreover, the quality of the action movie directly depended on who would lead the film as the main actor, because everything else was covered by a rather unpretentious budget.
The passing banner of the heroes of the 80s Stallone and Schwarzenegger, intercepted by Kurt Russell and Van Damme, special effects and stunt tricks added the necessary sophistication. The militants became smarter and more spectacular, but everything suddenly died down at the beginning of the new century. For almost a decade, film lovers have not seen a worthy leader of action cinema, for this reason, the new-born militants looked tense and quite naive, like games of gum. Vin Diesel could have fired, but he died quickly. Unexpectedly, as in a fairy tale, the phoenix revived in someone from whom no one expected it.
Jason Statham, a strict guy with a frozen face of a professional killer, chose Guy Ritchie’s films, and then somehow quietly moved to the rank of actors of the first magnitude. "Revolver" cemented his fame, Luc Besson added fame in "Carriers", and "Adrenaline", "War!" and finally "Death Race" rightfully transferred the title of a cool hero of our time.
The film itself is understandable only to fans of the genre. Those who look for the depth and drama so often parasitic in those categories where well-staged action replaces three hours of tearful dialogue will find nothing interesting. This is a new masterpiece from a fan of adaptations of computer games Paul Anderson. That’s why a movie with iron-clad cars and buttons, when the machines activate shields or weapons, is so reminiscent of a game. All productions should achieve such a combination of cinema with play. It is non-stop action with beautiful editing and explosions, virtually untouched by visual effects specialists.
The plot doesn't matter. Here he casually plays the theme of the future, when in depressed America there will be a show about riders in cars with guns, winning their imaginary freedom on the tracks of death. The main character is a good guy who was set up. He will get justice and punish those who need it.
In this role, Statham is flawless. Believe him and with trepidation expect the next scene, where so masterfully intertwined pyrotechnics, extreme driving and short capacious dialogue between the actors.
Like the glorious nineties. Cheers to old school! This is confirmed by the box office in Russia. And let the whole world choke on the linear refined adventures of Batman and company, we know who the real man is!
Let's get to the CD, gentlemen!

There's nothing easier than creating a new version of an old hit. But it's even easier to screw it up. You don’t need to create a new story from scratch – everything has already been done before you. Only polish in accordance with the realities of the present. But to do everything at least at the level of the original or surpass it must try. The ratio of successful rehings to unsuccessful 8 to 2. And I'm damn glad it went really well this time.
Director Paul W. S. Anderson is distinguished by recognizable style and visual highlights. His debut “Deathly Battle” immediately attracted attention with a bright and juicy production. It has been 12 years, and the film is still considered the best made in a computer game. Perhaps only Christophe Hahn managed this with his “Silent Hill”.
His second work “Through Horizon” Anderson brought himself into the alley of fame of cult science fiction directors, and the film firmly took the place of one of the best fiction ever shot. And then exactly what happens with so many bright debutants happened.
Maybe the director left the inspiration and ran out of ideas, maybe he was simply bored to shoot the proposed material, but the next three projects, namely “Soldier”, “Abode of Evil” and “Alien vs. Predator” came out not only passable and gray, but also semi-failure. And if the “Soldier” was still distinguished by a solid budget and Kurt Russell, then about the frankly cheap “Resident Evil”, shot as if immediately for a DVD, and boring and sluggish “Alien vs. Predator” and talk somehow shameful.
It felt like other people were filming under the name of Anderson. Even the sequel “Aliens vs. Predator-2: Requiem” came out much higher and better than the first film. By the way, it was shot by the debutantes Strauss brothers, who, like Anderson before his film debut, shot video clips. Of course, there were rumors that the producers did not give the director the necessary time and freedom, but in the end we still have 3 unsuccessful films in a row. But from the “alien predator” and “abode” it was possible to make one hundred percent hits with interesting finds.
And here's the new work "Death Race" The video did not foreshadow anything worthwhile. As a result, the advertisement turned out to be a deceptive maneuver, hiding all the goodies in the film itself. Bright, explosive, hurricane-powered car fighter with incredible tricks, chases, explosions and stunning camera work and excellent visual finds. And without the help of a computer, everything is real!
Stuntmen for such a miracle should put a huge statue of freedom the size of a monument during life. Anderson’s long-forgotten style appears here in all its glory. It feels like Paul really enjoyed filming and seriously thought through the concept of each frame and scene. Welcome to the new team of technical staff. All new faces: operator, editor and others. New people are fresh ideas.
Chase - what kind of movie about "cars" to do without it. Shooting just takes the mind beyond imagination. In the “Judgment Day” the chase was breathtaking. Here, first of all, she is not alone, and secondly... secondly, you will see, because it is better to see once. Usually in action movies it is not customary to talk about actors, but here everyone is in place and looks great. Statham has long been the king of militants. Paired with Tyrez Gibson, who at one time left beat Paul Walker in “Double Furious” and looked good as one of the soldiers in “Trasformers”, paired with Statham creates an explosive and charismatic tandem. Special thanks for the wonderful actors from serious cinema: Joan Allen and Ian McShane are chic types, perfectly complementing the cool main characters.
As a result, we are facing an incredible dynamics and drive car fighter. Explosive mixture of “Fast and Furious” and “Mad Max”, filmed with remarkable imagination, fiction and style.
Anderson's back, and it's a joy! We hope that the ideas and fantasies for his next projects will still remain with interest.
"Now, let's go!"
