The Promise of Happiness: Visual Minimalism This is a modest TV show. Several unrelated romantic stories united by one leading actress. Tatiana Doronina here took on all the main characters. Close-up plans were dedicated only to her. In each of the novels she was sensual, artistic, expressive.
But the actors were deprived of emotionality. Oleg Borisov, Pavel Luspekaev, Efim Kopelyan - these stars gradually, in strict costumes, meaningfully and leisurely supplemented the plot combinations.
Travel. Stations. Front. Injuries. Goodbye. All this gave situations a special nerve and a special, unique flair, the contrast of endurance and feelings.
But was it necessary to read the entire text of the stories, not limited to dialogue? Bold, but not the best solution. And a sad violin like a humble soundtrack. It would be perfect for a radio show, but for a movie?
Are you Olga Andreevna Bashilova? Sorry to bother you, but here... I have to give you a letter and tell your husband something.
- You take your time. The ship will not leave before dawn. I'll walk you out. Let the driver go.
Dawn is coming. But these two people met by chance, not to Bashilov. A sad but true story.
It’s hard to evaluate this movie right now. There are great actors and great stories. The form is not perfect... but... I want to highlight the discrepancy. All this had to be deployed on a grand scale, to show the plein air ... This departing steamer... Give actors more room to turn around. Alas... presented tape is incredibly fresh, modest.
Visual minimalism is quite appropriate here, but it rather restrains, hides the potential of this project.
