Behind the mask. A group of young people come to an old house, which was bought by their friends to relax during the weekend, but they did not know that their visit awakened an ancient evil.
In 2009, talentless thrashmaker Griff Furst releases his next creation called “Masquerade”, which is a complete copy of a typical slasher of the 70-80s. The plot is just a vial of stamps, blunders and predictability, and the authors didn’t even try to make the film better. The ending is just something, its moronicness is striking, and it is striking that I predicted it just by reading the description.
Special effects are nowhere cheaper: some spray of transparent blood and rubber skin, which the maniac pulls on the face just kill their absurdity. Murders are stupid and unoriginal, although it would be better for the authors to make meat thrash, it would be more useful.
The killer in the film is quite an interesting and well-developed story, which is a plus, but our antagonist is simply unoriginal, because it absorbs / plagiarizes the features of maniacs like him: the slow gait of Michael Myers, even the mask is similar to Myers, the immortality of Jason, the murder with an axe as in American Psychopath and of course, fitting on strangers’ faces, as in TRP, although few people know that this is famous serial killer Ed Gein.
The cast did not notice anything, because these stupid teenagers could not convey the spectrum of feelings and behave adequately, so from the whole picture I will highlight Michael Berriman and Terry Kaiser, who somehow try to pull this weak picture.
The composer tried, because his music is quite gloomy and atmospheric, with a clear reference to the dawn of slashers.
The camera job is neutral, as Andrew Strarkhon did not try to be innovative, while he did not screw up on the big one.
Bottom line: Another weak, cheap and talentless “slasher” that goes to the basket of third-rate films. Watch is only an avid fan of slashers, if nothing new or those who watch everything in a row, although it is better not to watch at all.
