A worthy continuation of what has begun The creators of the TV series Military Intelligence seem to act on the principle of George Lucas, who began his Star Wars with Episode 4 (if I am not confused with him in numbering), and many years later finally started from the beginning. So here: first came the part of the "Western Front", a year later - "First Strike" (about the first months of the war), and a year later - "Northern Front", which tells about the opening of the intelligence school and the meeting of the "through" main characters of the epic - military intelligence officers. So now it is best to look at it in chronological order and precisely from the "Northern Front" (although it is possible that between the "First Strike" and the "Western Front" will soon learn more, about 1942).
What is very pleasing is the preservation of the integrity of the stylistics of the series (at least, I did not notice any significant differences between its parts, although the action takes place at different times and in different places - somewhere more drama and "lyrics", somewhere more "combat" - life is life!), despite the fact that the Northern Front has a new director Peter Amelin. However, as (partly) rightly noted by Alexander Baluev in an interview with our film-union newspaper “SK-news”, “Who is the director, in serial production does not matter much.” Let them not be offended, but it is so. Baluev talked about "long" projects, for 16 episodes. "Military Intelligence" has 24 episodes.
I keep praising. Actors do not try to play Hamlets, but play real people who lived in that era. And, that is important, pretty people (of course, with the exception of obvious enemies and traitors, as well as the “classical” captain of the NKVD, and he is not so much evil as “overexposed”). Chalopai cadets Mihas and Moskal are generally charming. They have everything as cool men (in Hollywood police films such “partners” a pond!): first hate each other, fight, and then become real friends and for each other go to death (in intelligence!). Well, the short sergeant, inexorably strict and economical, is largely kindly "mixed" from the petty officers (and not only), played in a number of beautiful Soviet war films by the equally beautiful, texturistic (unfortunately, already deceased) actor Viktor Pavlov. And sincerely sorry for the sniper Button, not a beautiful and not at all proud, who loved, but was not loved.
Good work on the "Northern Front" and the composer with a music editor. Musical themes are basically the same as before, but they are unobtrusive and very delicate, subtly emphasize the action - where necessary, something cheerful sounds (for example, in scenes with a petty officer or the adventures of cadets), and where necessary, pathetic and heroic sounds on low timbres and tones, "echo of the past war."
In general, the “Northern Front” turned out to be kind, human, without the admixture of fashionable “black”, but with an “admixture” of patriotism and heroism, although the Finnish war, inspired and provoked by the Soviet leadership (the episode with the “cause” in the series is indicated) cannot be attributed to honest and fair (primarily political goals were pursued). He said, “We don’t want a foreign land.” And we got far from an inch... Oh, come on, it's a long time ago. But, in any case, the series is definitely worth watching (I got a lot of pleasure from it), especially for the whole family - it is very useful for the real military-patriotic education of children and young people. I would like to give him a nine, but I can’t. And here are eight plus - with great pleasure! (In brackets). I noticed one too conspicuous crap. The commander before the formation of recruits: "Hello, comrades fighters!" "Hello!" And then, and now the commander said and says, "Hello, comrade fighters (cadets, etc.)." Not to know, not to know our army! But here correctly dispelled the myth of the Finnish “cuckoos”: indeed, serious snipers on the trees did not sit – they swing from the wind ...
