In 1990, Nicholas co-authored Wokini: A Lakota Journey to Happiness and Self-Understanding with Billy Millis. Soon she appeared on the shelves of bookstores. In the first year, more than fifty thousand copies were purchased.
In 1992, Nicholas joined a pharmaceutical company and moved to Greenville, South Carolina. Here, in his spare time, he began work on the novel “The Diary of Memory”. Two years later, the novel drew the attention of literary agent Teresa Park. She liked the work, and thanks to her persistence, a million-dollar contract was signed for one publication. The novel was published in October 1996 and in the first week became the best-selling book.
