Nikolai Nikolaevich Drozdov was born on June 20, 1937 in Moscow. His father was a biochemist and his mother a doctor.
After graduating from school, he went to study at MSU at the biological faculty. In 1963 he graduated from the Geographical Faculty of Moscow State University, studying at the Department of Biogeography. After graduating from school, he went to study at MSU at the biological faculty. In 1963 he graduated from the Geographical Faculty of Moscow State University, studying at the Department of Biogeography. In 1968 he brilliantly defended his PhD, and thirty years later, in 2000, his doctoral thesis. Currently he works at MSU at the Department of Nature Conservation, Ornithology, Biogeography of the World. More than once participated in scientific expeditions to Kamchatka, the Kuril Islands, the Far East, the Pamir and Tien Shan mountains, the Karakum desert as a researcher.
In 1971-1972 he completed an internship at the Australian National University in Canberra in the Department of Zoology. After his travels in Australia, he wrote a book “The Flight of a Boomerang”.
In 1980, he became a member of the UNESCO expedition to the islands of Tonga, Samoa and Fiji, which took place on the research vessel of the USSR Academy of Sciences Callisto.
In 1993 and 1995 he took part in the expedition on the icebreaker "Yamal", exploring the Northern Sea Route and the North Pole, and also sailed with the expedition on the ship "Discoverer" along the coast of Canada and Alaska.
Nikolai Nikolayevich Drozdov is the author of more than 20 books and textbooks, one of his joint works with American authors is The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Animals, as well as more than 200 popular science and scientific articles.
Since 1968, he began to work on the television program “In the world of animals”.
In addition to publishing books, Drozdov is the author and co-author of countless films about animals and nature.
In 1989, Drozdov was included in the Honorary List of the main environmentalists and environmental specialists among the Global 500 UNEP, and in 1992 at the festival in Bristol for the film.
